Start Excel 2007 without BEx Analyzer 7.0
Hi there,
I use Excel 2007 and if I start "Excel 2007" the Analyzer 7.0 starts automatically. Does anyone know how I can start Excel without the Analyzer? It seems that it's no AddIn (*.xla like Analyzer 3.5) but an *.exe.
Thanks for any help,
NIcole
Hi,
Go to BEx analyzer -> Global settings and there untick 'Start BEx Analyzer When MS Excel Starts'. That should stop it.

Michael

Excel 2002 with BEx Analyzer NW2004s
Hi,
can I use Excel 2002 with BEx Analyzer NW2004s? I read somewhere, it is possible only with Office 2003. It's true?
Thanks!Hi, for some reason the BI FAQs on SDN are not up-to-date. I will investigate and make sure they are refreshed asap.
You always find the up-to-date FAQs on SAP Service Marketplace /bifaq. There you see the correct answer:
Which versions of Microsoft Office are supported by SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) BI Business Explorer (BEx)?
BEx in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) supports MS Office 2003 and Office XP, SP2 (this includes Excel 2002) based on GUI 6.40
BEx in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) supports MS Office 2003 based on GUI 7.10
For information on planned support for Windows Vista and Office 2007 (based on GUI 7.10) please check the Functional Enhancements Schedule BI in NW7.0 (2004s).
There is
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools on MS Office 97
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools for Office XP (Excel 2002) in combination with GUI 7.10
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools for Vista in combination with GUI 6.40

How to save BI report into normal excel sheet in Bex Analyzer
Hi Experts,
version of Bex Analyzer:
Bi addon 7.x
support package 7,patch 1
version 7004.4.0.5
excel-2003
when i am trying to save the report into excel in Bex Analyzer as below:
file-save as->Microsoft excel work.
when I open excel I am getting pop up windowu201Dthis file contains macros with an expired or revoked signature.Since your running under high security level,these macros will be disabled.u201D
when I click ok I am getting one more pop upwindow as u201Cmacros are diabled because the security level is set to high and a digitally signed trusted certificate is not attached to macros.to run the macros,change the security level to a lower setting(not recommended),or request the macros signed by the author using a certificate issued by a certificate authority.
what are these macros? why i am getting this pop up windows
When i opened the excel report is not looks like general excel report.how can I generate general excel report .I should not want to get excel report as in bex analyzer.I donu2019t want to have author ,status of data,chart,filter,information in excel report.
what settings I have to made to save the report in general excel format.
As i am new to Bi please correct me if i am wrong.
Anything is appreciable.
regards,
naresh.Macros in general are nothing but piece of code in excel.
To allow unsigned macros to run, the Trust all installed add-ins and templates check box must be selected on the Trusted Publishers tab of the Security dialog box. This option is selected by default. If it is not selected (recommended), Excel allows you to run only macros that have trusted digital signatures.
1. On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Security.
2. On the Trusted Publishers tab, select the Trust all installed add-ins and templates check box. -
BEx 7.X + MS Excel 2007 - Max number of Rows
Hi,
I've been looking for some way to show more than 65k rows in Excel 2007 using BEx Analyzer 7.X.
I have a customer that has this issue. I know that use more than 65k rows is not a property of a BI report and reports with more than 65k rows would have problems with performance, but my customer has this issue.
Do you know some way to solve this problem? Can Excel 2007 + BEx Analyzer 7.X show more than 65k rows?
Thanks,
Best Regards,
Marco MunizHi Marco,
as far as I know in Excel 2007 it is possible to show
1,048,576 rows by 16,384 columns

Error in BEX7.0 with Excel 2007
Previously we had Excel 2003. It was working fine with BI7.0
When we installed Excel 2007, and trying to open a query.. it is giving folowing error
"Critical Program Error Occured. The Program has to close. Please refer to the trace for further information"
I thought its authorization issue, so I traced using ST01 for this. But there the return code is showing Sucess ( RT = 4). So can anyone let me know where is the errror.
Client wants to work with EXcel 2007 with BI7.0
Please consider this as urgent

Hello,
I got a problem with Excel 2007 and BEx: it's not anymore possible to drag-and-drop attributes etc. from/into the sheet...in the past: sometimes it worked, sometimes not. But suddenly, it's not working anymore!
Is this a common bug in the actual release or does anybody know a "secret key command" to restore the BEx-Functionality for the mouse pointer?
What is curious is: the BEx-context menu is working instead...
Hope to get your answers soon,
EmanuelHello!
I know this is an old post but I am having the exact same issue as you; cannot drag/drop characteristics in BEx Analyzer using Excel 2007.
What did you do to fix the issue? -
Hello everyone!
We work with BW 3.0B and GUI 6.40.
Is there a possibility to organize the favorites in BEx Analyzer? I would like to create some subfolders.
thx for your help
rgds AdiHi
thanks for your quick answers.
I started Excel with the BEx Add-In. I tried to open a query. The screen to choose a query appears. I have three buttons on the left hand side: Favorites, Roles, InfoAreas. When I select Favorites, I see just one folder "Favorites" and all queries in that folder.
I don't have a chance to create a new folder (not with a button, not with a right mouse click) or to drag and drop.
Do I make anything wrong?
thx & rgds Adi -
Please can you tell me what happens when the BEx Analyzer loads for the first time? Excel seems to load quickly but the BEx Analyzer component can take over 30 seconds!
Is there anything that can be done to improve the start up time of BEx Analyzer on Windows XP and Vista PCs?
Thanks.I also forgot to add that for some of the pages that don't load or load slow. if you actually type the address into the address bar preceeded by "https://" instead of relying on search links or bookmarks it will load.

BEx Analyzer comments in ABAP Runtime?!
Hallo, we are using BEx 7.3 in ABAP Runtime (only ABAP Stack). In BEx Analyzer we want to use comments functionality to upload a Word or Excel Document for comments, but the Document Browser we are getting is of BEx 3.x which doen't provide the Button to uplaod the Word/Excel Documents. According to SAP in ABAP Runtime there is no way to upload Word/Excel Documents through BEx Analyzer comments functionality. Ist there any work arround?? Can any body hepl on this issue?
Many thanks in advance,
Regards
MansoorHallo Anass,
thanks for your reply but the Link to SAP-Library shows the document about the Documents Browser in Portal, JAVA Runtime. But we don't have JAVA / Portal environment, we have only ABAP Stack.
The T-Code does not help, cause the BEx Analyzer version we are using is BEx 7.3. It is only the Document Browser which is of 3.x version, because according to SAP Helpline the BEx Analyzer in ABAP Runtime works only with 3.x Document Browser.
Does anybody know a work around to upload the Word documents?
Any how many thanks. -
Doubts about the advantages and disadvantages of BEx Analyzer
Hi people!
Do you know in specific. What are the advantages and disadvantages of BEx Analyzer?
and Do you know the limitations and scope of the bex analyzer?
Talking about the security issue. What kind of resticciones be applied to end-users to control information. Protecting system
resources and the information that the user uses, not be manipulated.
I hope you could answer my doubts
Ramon
ThanksHi!
The standard BEx BI 3.x tools, is no longer available with the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 BI tools; however, it is part of the SAP BI add-on installation that, by default, will install the BW 3.x tools along with the newer BI 7.0 tools.
We want to prevent unauthorized download of data to excel sheets from users who have installed bex analyzer but are not authorized to do that. Certain users only have to access querys from web and shouldn't have to use reports from bex analyzer.
The only accepted way to access reports for all users is by using web querys published in our intranet. But many users have bex analyzer installed and we don't want that an unauthorized user download data to a excel sheet via bex analyzer.
I'm testing with one user with this roles, but bex web template and bex analyzer have similiar object authorizations, and i don't know if is possible prevent unauthorized download of data from excel sheets.
Final users don't access to bex analyzer by rrmx transaction
Until know i'm testing with this user roles:

please take in count this points:
1. Prevent unauthorized download of data to excel sheets from users that should have accees only querys from web not bex analyzer (very important this point)=
2. what are the disadvantages of BEx Analyzer, if only if limited by excel...from other point like performance, workprocess with long runtimes, memory issues, for said something.
I don't know if i'm going by good way.
Somebody could help me?

Automated start of Excel BEx Analyzer via Web VBScript
Hi all,
at first... all the versions:
SAPGUI 6.40 Patch Level 19, BW 3.5 Addon Patch 9, BI 7.0 with NetWeaver 2004s, Excel 2002 SP3.
I got the following working code to start Excel out of our Intranet, start the BEx Analyzer and connect to our BW:
<html>
<head>
<title>Excel Script</title>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="VBScript">
sub bwreport()
Dim app
Dim myConnection ' As Object
Dim logonToBW2 ' As Boolean
' Launch Excel
set app = createobject("Excel.Application")
' Make it visible
app.Visible = true
' Open xla file
app.Workbooks.Open("C:ProgrammeSAPFrontEndBWsapbex.xla")
app.Run("SAPBEX.XLA!sapBEXinit")
' Logon to BW
logonToBW2 = False
Set myConnection = app.Run("SAPBEX.XLA!SAPBEXgetConnection")
With myConnection
.client = "001"
.User = "myuser"
.Password = "mypw"
.Language = "de"
.systemnumber = "00"
.ApplicationServer = "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"
.UseSAPLogonIni = false
.Logon 0, True
If .IsConnected = 0 Then
MsgBox "Verbunden"
.Logon 0, False
If .IsConnected <> 1 Then
MsgBox "Fehler beim Verbinden"
End If
End If
End With
app.Run("SAPBEX.XLA!SAPBEXinitConnection")
logonToBW2 = True
' Give the user control of Excel
app.UserControl = true
end sub
</SCRIPT>
<P> </P>
</head>
<body>
<button onclick= "bwreport()">Alternative Excel</button>
</body>
</html>
I'm still working on two issues here and hope you can help me:
1.
app.Workbooks.Open("C:\Programme\SAP\FrontEnd\BW\sapbex.xla")
The Webscript will be used by many BW-Users so the full installation path is not the same for all users. Is there a way to start the Analyzer without the full path ?
When I start Excel with "Excel.Application" via OLE out of my Script, then BEx is not automatically loaded, that's why I need the above line.
But when I start Excel manually, it's loaded automatically. So there has to be some way Excel "knows" the location of an installed BEx Add-In. Maybe there is some addition to say Excel to start all it's usual Add-Ins, or to start in standard behaviour ?
2.
app.Run("SAPBEX.XLA!sapBEXinit")
Before I added this line, I always got the BEx Analyzer title "xxxsapbexxxx" and was unable to use any macros or functionality of the BEx Analyzer.
I found hints and code examples to use "RunAutoMacros" so sapbex.xla is fully initialized but wasn't able to make it work in my code.
So I checked the macros of sapbex.xla and "sapBEXinit" seems to do the job although I'm not sure if this is a complete/clean initialization of the sapbex.
Thx,
Thomas

First of all thanks for sharing the script, good work.
coming to your first question.
you can get the path by reading the system registry
its under <b>"SAP.BusinessExplorer.Analyzer\path"</b>
if you analyze the FM "RSAH_LAUNCH_EXCEL" in BW system, you can get the logic for your script.

Error when using BeX Analyzer 7.0 with Excel 2007
When i try to execute a query in BeX analyzer 7.0 and my microsoft excel version is 2007, there will always have a fatal error showing. However, when i use the Bex Analyzer 3.5 , i could execute the query.
Anyway to solve this problem?You need to do the following
Identify the SAP GUI version you're using, 6.40 or 7.10, and the patch level.
Identify the BW or BI Add-on and patch level of it.
From there, check to see if the versions you have actually support BI 7.0 and Excel 2007. Reliable Excel 2007 support requires failry current patch levels of both the SAP GUI and the corresponding BW/BW Add-ons..
Do you have access to a PC that has a more recent version of the SAP GUI and BW/ BI Add-on? If so, try using that PC and see if you still have the problem. -
BEx Analyzer - Start BEx when Excel starts
Hi,
Our company uses MS 2010. We recently installed BEx Analyzer to several employee's PCs. On ONE out of 5 PCs, the user must re-check the box under Global Settings for "Start BEx Analyzer when Excel starts" every time she starts her PC each day. It stays checked until she shuts down the PC. What could be wrong? What should I look at?
Thanks,
Debbieso at the end of day when she shuts off and log in again analyzer doesnt open in excel again.?
there is way to do that in excel to open a program .. may be they can help.
only thing i can think of that she deletes her cookies when she logs off so excel cant save it properly.

Charts in BEx Analyzer - What are the Options in Excel 2007?
Hi Gurus!
The client wants to generate Tables and Charts in BEx Analyzer and e-mail to users.
We are using BEx 3.5 queries with on BW 7.0 and Excel 2007.
We are not allowed to convert to 7.0 queries, but can convert Workbooks from 3.5 to 7.0 , leaving the embedded query as 3.5.
Basically, We'd like to run one query and set of selections and use various subsets of the data to generate five charts.
End user would not accept entering five sets of selections into five charts.
Do we have an option for using 3.5 query and 3.5 or 7.0 Workbook functionality to control the output of the chart?
( I have used Charts in BEx Web and WAD, but not the Excel front end.)
We could output the table in use Excel functionality to generate the graphs, but is there a better way?
Thanks,
John HawkThe BEx 3.5 query in 7.0 works quite well. The Design icon Add-In features seem to work fime.
An Excel chart can easily be created from the data output, and the chart is refreshed as the data is refreshed.
