The button on my Ipod Touch (the big one just below the screen) will not work when I press it. Nothing happens, when before it would wake my IPod out of sleep mode, and exit out of programs I was using (ex. ITunes or Safari to main screen) . Now, no reactions. When I press the button, it appears to be more indented then it was before. What should I do? Do I need to get it fixed or replaced, or is this a problem I can fix on my own? Whatever it is, I really need some advice. Thanks in advance.

  • Remote ipod shutoff and sleep modes?

    Hello all,
    I have a kenwood DNX9980HD car stereo.
When I plug my ipod into the connector for it, the Kenwood takes control and works flawlessly.
I want to leave the ipod in the car all the time plugged into the Kenwood.
The problem is when I shut off the car.
The Kenwood control disconnects as expected, controls go back to the ipod but the ipod doesn't shut off.
It thinks its still supposed to continue playing and will do so until the battery drains.
Then the next time I start the car, I have to wait for the ipod battery to charge before the ipod is available.
I think this is a great way to kill the battery quickly.
I can make a point of pressing pause before I shut off the car, but I'd like to make it automatic.
Is there some setting that I can activate that if its not remote controlled it turns off?
I did see this link in another topic on a similar subject, but it doesn't go to an article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60945
    Dan

Okay so I finally figured this out and want to share it with you all.
When you have your ipod unhooked from your Kenwood, put it on pause.
Press and hold the play/pause button until your screen goes blank.
Then flip the switch on the top to lock the buttons.
Now attach the ipod to your Kenwood.
Whenever you start the car, the ipod wakes up because the Kenwood takes control.
Use the Kenwood ipod interface as normal.
When you shut down the engine, and thus the control interface to the ipod, the ipod reverts to the last control on its face, which was paused.
When no activity is detected for a short time (I believe 30 min) the ipod goes into the deeper sleep and no battery is used.
If you left the ipod in the play mode before you hooked it up, it will return to play mode when you turn off the car, and thus run until the ipod battery is dead.

  • Start up problems after sleep mode

    Hi,
Half of the time when I put my mid 2010 MacBook Pro in sleep mode by closing the screen it won't restart once I open the screen back again (the screen remains black). This hasn't happened that many times before, but now its becoming more frequent. The only way I can restart my Mac is by holding the on/off button for a few seconds.
Does anyone had similar problems or knows who I could resolve this issue?
I would appreciate any help on the matter
    I run:
    OS X version 10.9.5
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    mid 2010 MacBook Pro 13-inch

    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article. That's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. Please read the whole article carefully (some of it is hidden by disclosure triangles) and don't skip any of the steps, including the ones under the heading "Additional troubleshooting." If you don't understand any of the steps, ask for guidance.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.5 or earlier, from the menu bar select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Accessibility
If the checkbox at the bottom marked
              Enable access for assistive devices
is checked, uncheck it and test.
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy ▹ Privacy ▹ Accessibility
If any applications are listed on the right and have a checked box next to them, uncheck all the boxes and test. You may first have to click the padlock icon in the lower left corner of the window and authenticate as an administrator to unlock the settings.
    Step 3
In the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences, uncheck the box marked
Put hard disks to sleep when possible
    Step 4
This and the next step must be taken as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You may see one or more reports with a name that begins with "Sleep Wake Failure" followed by a date. Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
    Step 5
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ Diagnostic and Usage Messages
In the search box in the window's toolbar, enter "powerd" (without the quotes.)
You may see one or more lines like this:
    com.apple.message.signature: Platform Failure
If you do see that, and you did everything in the preceeding steps, then you're dealing with an internal hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

  • MacBook starts and instantly enters sleep mode

In the past few days I've been experiencing a reoccurring problem with my macbook pro. I press the power button, hear the startup of the drive, and then sometimes the display will turn on for a second(mostly stays off), and then enters sleep mode instantly. I can not get on my macbook unless I turn it on and let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then MAYBE the display will activate. Please help.

Do you hear a chime at startup? How do you know it is entering sleep mode and not turning off? Does the cursor move on the screen? Here is something from another user's experience:
I had the same issue with my 2008 iMac and Apple support walked me through the fix yesterday...
    1. Shut the computer down by holding the power button for 10 seconds
    2. Restart the computer and press shift at the same time until you see the progress bar start moving
    3. Once you reach the point where your screen goes dark and you see the cursor, type the first letter of the username for your computer, then hit Enter, then type your password, then hit Enter.
    4. After a moment, you should see the spinning beach ball
    5. Your screen should then move on to something along the lines of "Completing OSX Installation" (I can't remember the exact wording). Let it finish. After that it should go to your normal desktop and the issue should be fixed. (If your screen goes pitch black during this process, hit the space bar. I thought it wasn't working, but the screen was just sleeping).
Apparently it's an issue with an automatic update that never quite got past the login screen.

  • When does the ipod go in sleep mode?

What causes it to go into sleep mode?

Time since last action on the iPod.  Set the time amount (or Never) at Settings > General > Auto-lock.

  • IPod Touch passive-sleeping mode

When the IPod Touch is in passive-sleeping mode it losses its IP stack settings...what can be the problem?

because when the itouch is in passive mode it releases the ip settings, to resolve that, you can install in your itouch the imsomnia apply.

  • HP Pavilion starts up in hibernate/sleep mode and remains there - there is nothing on the monitor

I have an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-250f (Core i7) desktop computer.
I was using the internet. Suddenly, the computer made some sound, and the screen went blank. The computer seemed to go into its usual hibernate/sleep mode. Usually, when the computer goes into hibernate/sleep mode (after some period of not being used), the color on the power button changes from blue to yellow. But, this time, the color remained blue.
Usually, I can move the mouse and get out of this mode. But, this time, I moved the mouse, and nothing happened.
I pressed and held the power button and turned off the computer. I then turned the computer back on. The power button was blue, there was a green light on the back of the computer, and the fans were working. But there was nothing on the screen.
I restarted several times, and there remains nothing on the screen. There is no beeping sound when the computer is restarted.
What do I do? Please help. Thank you.

  • My imac takes about eight minutes to be fully functional after a cold start or from the sleep mode. The hard drive sounds like it has to go through a number of gyrations before being fully loaded. When I first bought the imac start up was much faster

My Imac takes about 8 minutes to be fully functional after a restart or awakened from the sleep mode. I can hear the hard drive making a number of gyrations before it's ready to let me do stuff. This is a 5 year old machine and was much faster in the beginning. Any suggestions?

Impossible to say however it may need more RAM, or if you have been turning it off every day it isn't given the opportunity to run it's daily, weekly and monthly maintenance. This is all done in the background in the middle of the night. I would recommend following the steps in 25 Ways to Speed Up Your Mac until you find the cause of your slowdown.

How can I get my money back if iTunes has charged me twice for songs that never downloaded?

To get the track downloaded, see:

  • No service, no sleep mode help!

My iphone 4s started dropping service randomly in places that I have had service for years including my own home. I reset it. Then it started not going to sleep mode, so I reset that too. Then facebook app would log me out everytime I tried to open a link within FB app. What else could I do so my phone doesn't break besides resetting it?

If a reset is not working, then the next steps in user troubleshooting are a restore from a backup and if that does not work, then restore as a new device, not from a backup.

Is there any specific settings required for DX-650 sleep mode ? or what problem do cause this ?

    Hi Anis,
Can u refer the DOC in Table 2 which talks about Sleep Mode
EnergyWise on the Cisco Desktop Collaboration Experience Setup
To reduce power consumption, configure the phone to sleep (power down) and wake (power up) if your system includes an EnergyWise controller.
You configure settings in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration to enable EnergyWise and configure sleep and wake times. These parameters are closely tied to the phone display configuration parameters.
When EnergyWise is enabled and a sleep time is set, the phone sends a request to the switch to wake it up at the configured time. The switch returns either an acceptance or a rejection of the request. If the switch rejects the request or if the switch does not reply, the phone does not power down. If the switch accepts the request, the idle phone goes to sleep, thus reducing the power consumption to a predetermined level. A phone that is not idle sets an idle timer and goes to sleep after the timer expires.
To wake up the phone press Lock. At the scheduled wake time, the system restores power to the phone, waking it up.
The following table explains the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration fields that control the EnergyWise settings. You configure these fields in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration in the Product Specific Configuration area of the Phone Configuration window Device >Phone.
