Start Navigation sound in Windows 7 64 bit dissappeared

? [size="">I have been scratching my head over this one.
[size="">After doing a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on a new build this week, and installing a new X-Fi PCIe Titanium Fatality Pro, I found the start navigation windows sound was no longer there - I am talking about the brief sound you hear, that sounds like a click, when you click a link, double click a folder to open , etc. I could find the sound in windows sounds, but when I pressed test I could not hear it.
[size="">
[size="">After much trial and error, I discovered that I had to disable sound blaster enhancements, in the properties tab for speakers in the sound card settings. I now have that windows sound back.
[size="">When I enable sound blaster enhancements, it goes away, when I disable them, it is back to normal.
[size="">
[size="">Is this normal or unique to me?

Wow, that fixed? my problem also by disabling soundblaster enhancements. How were you able to figure that one out? I was trying to figure it'sout also many months ago when I first got windows 7 beta and couldn't do it. Anyway,
Seems like most people don't like this start navigation sound, but I do.
I don't like the fact of having to disable soundblaster enhancements also.
Have you noticed that if you change the windows theme to something else it will actually work?

  • Windows Vista - Sound Blaster 24 Bit Usb - No Microphone Playback Real Time Kara

    Hi,
I don't no if this problem was just discussed in another thread, if so please giveme simply the link...
I'm Italian, so sorry for my poor english or bad translation...
    PC: Laptop, "Toshiba Satellite A 200 24E"
OS: "Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack " - All update done.
Dev.: "External Sound Blaster 24 Bit Usb" - Driver downloaded from Creative Web Site
At the very beginning I tried the internal Sound Card (Realtek) to do karaoke in spare time, but couldn't hear anything coming from Microphone. So I tried to buy an external sound card. The result is the same.
On "Record Device" I can see the Microphone Device, the level is on top, when I speak in the microphone I can see the green bar light up, if I record my voice I can hear myself when I playback, but no sound in real time.
I read that a lot of people have similar problems, but everone solves in a different manner...
    I tried:
    - I read in other forums advices about to do something like unmute microphone on "Audio playback devices" >> "Speaker" >> "Levels", but I don't see any checkbox, I can see only Speaker Level Bar...
    - As read in other websites, to add a registry key (something like EnableInputMonitor in a specific path), but nothing changes. I cannot find other Device, not in Playback Devices, and not in Record Devices.
Please help, all was great with the same microphone, on old Packard Bell Laptop, old Sound Blaster mp3+ usb, and old Windows Xp.
If no solution, I 'm going on buy an old laptop with Windows xp, or an external Mixer, but I'm disappointed on spending more money...

    well ?

  • Sound in windows xp 64 bits

I have the following problem, i have a pavilion dv6704nr laptop, i need to install the sound in windows xp 64 bit , and not get the drivers
Motherboard:Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PCChipset del motherboard  nVIDIA nForce 7150M-630M, AMD Hammer Memoria GeForce
I was unable to configure I need help please

Well after about 3 days of googling I finally found a driver that works...it's
    http://rapidshare.com/files/21232083/ati_conexant_audio_driver_x64.rar
Don't think it was the same one I used last time, but I heard this ATI southbridge driver does work to fix the Conexant sound. The ATI driver added a few junk items to my desktop, "free games, 1000 free songs, and free dolphin screensaver." I guess I can enjoy them now that my sound's working.

  • No sound on windows 7 64 bit?

Hi, I recently installed windows 7 64 bit on my macbook, and first thing I noticed is that there was no sound. Any help?

Do a search for the same question and you'll find quite a few answers. It depends on the model/year, etc, of your computer on what the fix is. Too many to list here.
At the top of the window there are two search bars, use the one with the Blue search button and it will just do a search in the Boot Camp forum. There are also a dozen or so pages of posts you can browse also.
Try  No sound in Windows .
    Good luck......

  • Windows 8 start up sounds

how do i activate windows 8 start up sounds it worked the first time i turned my pc on but not since,i have ticked the windows default checkbox but the apply area is shaded out?

    Hello,
You should be able to go into windows sound option, under control panel and in the sound tab, you have an option to play windows start-up sound, if its shaded out, maybe its because you dont have any playback device selected or the audio is not installed.
    Can you check that?
    Thanks,
I work for HP! Please remember to provide and if this helped click ON

  • Windows 7 Start-Up Sound deleted after Boot Camp 3.2 Update

    Hello,
i´ve installed Windows 7 on my MacBook. Than i have updated my Boot Camp Software from 3.0 to 3.2.
Now is my Start-Up Sound deleted.
    How can i repair this?

Install the audio driver from the vendor, does it use Cirrius? or RealTek? you need to install an audio driver or package, Boot Camp just provides hardware device so it can be installed later by the end user.
My Mac Pro uses Realtek and easy enough to install, though I've read here that people had trouble on Macs that require Cirrius. But it is up to you.

  • Macbook without start up sound

    Good morning everyone.
I´ll tell you a little about my problem. I have a macbook 13" mid 2010 mod A1342. Last week, after cleaning with a cleaning foam for PC´s, I think i used so much foam into the keyboard, because i started up and wont start, i let pass time and tried to start up, it started but some keys was in dead short, and the laptop turns off, i cleaned again with fairly isopropyl alcohol in the entire surface and the back of the keyboard, i wait for it to dry for 2 days and the in tried again, the mac start and works fine without pushing any key, but some key was making dead short, i was using my iphone as a wireless keyboard the trackpad works fine.
Consulting with an apple tech center they pdiagnosed the keyboard probably was in dead short and but i have to left them to a entire diagnose.
I buy the piece(upper case) and i replaced by my self (i´m a desktop support techinician for mac and windows), the macbook works fine again with all the keys including mutimedia keys. but the start up sound was gone, now the sound is very low, the speakers works fine i probe it whit de audio midi config. app, i disconnect the speaker off the board, the spearkers of the keyboard works fine but with a very low sound, when i put a headphone or an external speakers the soud works very fine and with a hig volume.
Due to the constant reebots without turn off properly, the volume(image) of the mac was corrupt, i´ve tried to repair it with the Disc Utility app but the volume was very damaged, i tried to reinstall preserving my files but there´s no oprtion for that , the only option was a clean installation. i think a clean installation fix the trouble, but the sound was the same, after installing all the updates to this day, the result was the same. In the information menu displays onboard sound, in the prefs pane the output have onboard sound to play sounds, i configured into the audio and midi app the stereo option, bunt the sound is still low.
I don´t think the problem was the logic, beacuse it plays sound into headphones and the internal speaker and the keybooard speaker, the problem is only the startup sound gone and the level of the sound is very low (sound like a cell phone). i tried to reset the PRAM, in the faqs apple say that i have to hear 2 startups sounds and the i have to realease the pushed keys, but in my case there´s no sound, the laptop restart as they say, but without sound, i´m not sure if the PRAM was restored or not, i push the keys (cmd+op+p+r) turn the MB it try to start the a little bit reboot by it self, tyr to start, again reboot by it self, but without sound, if i keep pushing the keys the procees won´t stop, if i release the keys the macbook start fine(without sound), but i not sure if the PRAM was restored.
I hope anyone can help me.

i also got this kind of problem recently. i was connected to a speaker n the start up sound just didnt come out till i plugged out the speaker jack. this happen after i finished reinstalling my mac os x (snow leopard) including the updates. the condition worsen by having a delay when i started up my mbp for the 3rd or 4th times. the screen just black n i got a delay for 3 to 4 seconds till finally i heard the start up sound back n see the apple logo n the loading gear came out. i later restarted the mbp again to see whether the same problem occurs bt somehow it didnt. weird things happen to my mbp these days.. what should i do? any suggestion? :O

  • No sound on Windows 7 Boot Camp

I've had this problem for a while now, I just ignored it in the past, now I'm really fed up. I've tried everything, downloading Realteck, burning BootCamp drivers onto the CD (I have a Lion which came with no disc), I tried playing around with the Sound in Control Pannel. Someone please help me!

Then google for Cirrus Logic Audio for Mac running Windows.

    * You are running Vista or Windows 7 on a Macbook
    * You have no or low audio/ sound. In macbook pro, you may also see a red light in your audio jack.
*Step 1:* Download the Macbook Pro Cirrus Logic CS4206A Driver from our server.
+(As a request, please do not hotlink this file anywhere else or our server will automatically remove the file from server.)+
+In case the above download link does not work google+ CirrusAudio.10.6.1.zip
*Step 2:* Extract the right type of Driver
    (depending on your windows XP/ 7/ 32 bit/ 64bit)
Step3: for Windows 7 only: Right Click on exe file of driver.
Select Properties> Compatibility > run in compatibility mode
Select Windows Vista from drop down menu and Click OK
*Step 4:* Double click the driver and install.

  • My iMac won't boot, get a black screen with alarm sound, then gray screen with start up sound, then repeats

this problem started last fall after upgrading to Mavericks. If I shut down my computer (or restart) I have problems getting it going again. This is getting progressively worse. I hadn't shut down in over a month, forgot about this issue and shut down (which I used to do daily), so now I can't get my computer to boot. When I hit the power button I hear it starting, then a loud alarm sounds, then a long pause then start up sound with a gray screen with a progress bar. Once the progress bar fills, the screen goes black again for a bit. This whole process will repeat until I get frustrated and force - shut down by holding the power button. I have tried reseting the pram, starting up in safe mode, starting up with the command - R, starting up with my original install disc... none of it works. I'm at a loss! I do have an external hard drive that I have been using for Time Machine, but it's not recent because the disc needs repairs and I hadn't gotten around to buying a new HD to back up to first. Has anyone else had this problem? I really can't afford a big repair/replacement bill.

A long, steady, load tone followed by a progress bar can indicate it is trying to install a Firmware Update.  Any other Tones would be multiple beeps and show an error code.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5860
You can also see a progress bar similar to booting into Safe Mode. However, the firmware update bar is thinner vertically than the Safe Mode bar.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455
Either way, I would say something is wrong and it would be better evaluated at an Apple Store as Kappy points out.

  • ITunes started freezing up on Windows 7 home while down loading podcasts and university videos.  Now, I can't even get iTunes to open on my computer.  what do I need to do?

itunes started freezing up on Windows 7 while downloading podcasts, books, itunes university items.  Now, I can't even get itunes to open on my computer.  What should I do?

It seems that in some cases the scripts on Apple's site that are intended to query your system to offer the appropriate installer don't work as intended, taking you straight to the "Thank you for downloading" page.  Depending on the edition of Windows you are running, there are three variants of the most recent version of iTunes, with direct links to the installers as follows:
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.2.27  (64-bit) - iTunes6464Setup.exe
    iTunes 12.1.2.27 (64-bit "for older video cards") - itunes64setup.exe
The third of these - which is actually the 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer - should be used if you get a warning about video card incompatibility when you install the standard 64-bit version, but also may resolve issues with playback, QuickTime compatibility, and problems with some third-party applications (including Outlook).
See turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for more details if you're still having problems with installation.

This is djburrus, the questioner. I have discovered the problem here. This version of Firefox is not compatible with Windows 7 User Account Control, and therefore will not be allowed to start by Windows. Right click on Desktop shortcut choose "troubleshoot compatibility" choose "use recommended settings" Firefox will now start but with a User Account Control warning.

  • Timed Out Starting Navigation

I have VBA in a script for if the user is already logged in then VBA will log the user out and then go back to the first page to start over. Listed below are the steps, however, after this script is run once, then when I try to rerun it gets stuck on the first page and fails with "Timed Out on Starting Navigation"
I did find a workaround (listed below) with more VBA but I want to find out why this is happening and if there is any other way to work around this without adding VBA?
    [b]Script Pages
1 - Direct navigation to URL
    2 - Enter Login information
    3 - Auto Page
4 - If user already logged in execute code below, if not then click Link
    5 - Logout
VBA for User already logged in
    Private Sub RSWVBAPage_beforePlay()
    Dim logoutBtn As IHTMLElement
    If (RSWApp.FindInHtml("Already Logged In")) Then
    result = RSWApp.om.GetElementByPath("window(index=0).span(text=""Logout Now"" | index=3)", logoutBtn)
    logoutBtn.click
    RSWApp.GotoPage 1
    End If
    End Sub
VBA for workaround to make sure that first page does not fail as Timed Out Starting Navigation
    Private Sub RSWVBAPage_beforePlay()
    result = RSWApp.Navigate("https://aetna.test.csplans.com/csportal/welcome.do")
    End Sub

You should let the script naturally complete and let e-tester perform the proper Iteration clean-up (cookies, ect..) after the error case. When calling "RSWApp.GotoPage 1" you are not properly completing the script. Perhaps you can put a blank dummy page as the last page in the script and call i.e. "RSWApp.GotoPage 99"

  • The Start up sound - shutting it of?

    Hi!
I've got a MacBook and I really want to know how to cancel the start up sound. You know, you turn the power on, the screen is lit, you hear som mechanic noises from the machine waking up and then Boom the starting sound of Doom let's everyone know Jakob has just turned his notebook on. Mostly irritating and a bit embarrassing when sitting in a quiet study hall.
    Have a good one
    Jakob
(oh and turning the sound all the way down doesn't help)

    Cheers mate
