Start Of Ramp-Up for SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0
Starting with this new release, the application SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0
replaces both the SAP Resource and Portfolio Management (SAP RPM) application and the
Collaboration Projects (cProjects) application.
Start of ramp-up for SAP Portfolio and Project Management is 19th of April, 2010. The end
of ramp-up is currently scheduled for 19th of October, 2010.

Thanks very much for taking the time to post the info Florian. I will update this thread as well if I run into any new information.
Do we have any idea on SAP's direction for Product Definition? PD is still version 2.0 and I heard that PD functionality will be incorporated into PPM 5.0 which does make a lot of sense. I very briefly went through the notes and config doc in this post and did not get the impression that PPM has any idea and concept management capabilities.

Pagefile for SAP Erp2005 and Solution Manager 4.0

Hi all,
I've installed SAP ERP2005 and Solution Manager 4.0 on the same server with Windows 2003 Standard 32bit.
The RAM on this server is 3325MB.
How many paging file I must configure???
At the moment I configured the pagefile size as defined in the installation guide:
1 RAM + 8GB that is 12285MB.
Is it correct????
For both instance I set the PHYS_MEM parameter to 2328 (70% of the RAM)...is it correct??
P.S. How to calculate the [BE] parameters??
[BE] = maximum possible number of user calculated from the size of physical main memory

Portfolio and Project Management

Hi All,
We have applied the business package for Project Management and Portfolio Management and it is working fine but it only works fine if Super Admin Role is assigned to the user with Project Management and Portfolio Management Role.
We need to provide only 2 Roles i.e.,Portfolio Management Role and Project Management Role not Super Admin, how to achieve that pls help.

Looks like you would have to play around with the permissions to resolve this.
1.In the PCD, where you find the Project Management and Portfolio Management folder, right click and open permissions, ensure you add the everyone group there and have the enduser checked.
2. In the system administration-system configuration-system folder, check if you have any system created for the Project Management and Portfolio Management, right click and open the permissions, ensure you add the everyone group there and have the enduser checked.
This should help resolve the issue with out the super admin role

A simple example of ABAP memory is using the EXPORT/IMPORT statements.
Here in this program, I get the data, export it to memory,
clear out the internal table in my progam, then reimport the data into it and write out the data.
You probably wounldn't do this in a normal program,
but this is how you can pass data from program a to program b when A Submits program B.
report zxy_0002 .

SAP Memory
SAP memory is a memory area to which all main sessions within a SAPgui have access.
You can use SAP memory either to pass data from one program to another within a session,
or to pass data from one session to another.
Application programs that use SAP memory must do so using SPA/GPA parameters (also known as SET/GET parameters).
These parameters can be set either for a particular user
or for a particular program using the SET PARAMETER statement.

ABAP/4 Memory
ABAP memory is a memory area that all ABAP programs within the same internal session can access

the data needs to be placed in ABAP memory before the call is made.
The internal session of the called program then replaces that of the calling program.
The program called can then read from the ABAP memory.

SAP memory
The SAP memory, otherwise known as the global memory,
is available to a user during the entire duration of a terminal session.
Its contents are retained across transaction boundaries as well as external and internal sessions.

ABAP/4 memory
The contents of the ABAP/4 memory are retained only during the lifetime of an external session

Sizing for SAP BCM (Business Communication Management)

We have to provide a server sizing to be used for SAP BCM (Business Communication Management) module which will be intergrated with SAP CRM and is to be used for call support. As far as we have reached, we require a Windows server and will host MS SQL database with an approx consumer data of 63 lacs consumers.

Sorry, forgot to ask how much physical memory you have on each host.
Let's split it to 2 topics.
1. For ECC, since OracleDB and non-unicode page which are the 2 major factors won't be changed, so I would think here we could just do a math, as long as host A has enough memory which is allocated for Oracle and ECC (extended memory) on host B to be added up.
2. For EP, memory tuning size is basically the same for HP JDK and SUN JDK, that each server node is allocated approximately 2.5GB RAM. Besides, 0.8-1GB RAM needs to be left for OS kernel. But in your case, host B is currently holding 200 users which is a big jump for host A(note: only active user quantity matters here).
That's fine if main physical memory is a little short for host A, utilizing multiple less powerful servers as 2nd tier application server to do the load balancing is also a solution with lower TCO.

Software for suspend/hibernate and power management?

After working with Arch on my desktop pc for a while, I today installed it on my laptop, as well. Everything works fine so far, but after reading through a lot of articles on the wiki and threads on this board, I'm a little confused about which tools I should use for hibernate/suspend and power management?
Cpufreq-utils, acpid, pm-utils, laptop-mode-tools, etc. What do you recommend for use?

All that you listed there have different functions. I use all the above on my laptop. Cpufreq-utils enables the frequency scaling, pm-utils (should) enables suspend and/or hibernate, laptop-mode-tools adds some power management functions, etc. Anyways, they're all useful for a laptop. Install, tweak, ask questions
