Start playing from the middle of a playlist?

Hi all,
I was wondering how to start playing from an arbitray song in a playlist on iTunes. When you go to a playlist, you see a play button next to the title of the playlist on the upper left corner of the playlist pane. If you press it, iTunes starts from the first song of the playlist. What do you do when you want to start from a song in the middle and continue to play songs in the order of the playlist?
I selected the song from which I want to start and pressed the play button on the upper-left corner, but iTunes started to play from the top of the list. When I double-clicked on the song, iTunes started to play the song but it stopped at the end of the album, not at the end of the playlist.

Oh hi... seemed like I've got the problem fixed. :") For this particular case, just get the server side to stream the video to the clients (possibly one instance is created for each IP address, if resources allow). The server can quickly seek to any particular position within the media clip, and start streaming from there. The clients' players just need to listen to the stream from the appropriate instance on the server.
JMF can do the streaming just fine. I've switched to VLC before I knew that, so now I'm having problem making the JMF on the client work with the VLC streaming. This is weird, considering the streaming protocol to be identical. But I should get that fixed soon.

You may want to do a Restore on the shuffle in iTunes. The Restore button is on the shuffle's Summary screen in iTunes. This will erase the shuffle, re-install its software, and set it to default settings. If it's a software or data corruption glitch, the Restore should fix it. After the Restore, reload or resync your songs, and try it again. As a test, you may want to initially select a small number of songs to put back on the shuffle.

My Ipod starts playing in the middle of the night???

Can anyone help? For the last couple of nights, my Ipod has started playing during the middle of the night. I turn it off and put it on hold before I go to sleep but it is still happening?????

You most likely have the alarm set.
Check calender events also.

I'm not sure if my post title is correct but...
I have a two minute piece of music with various instruments playing. There are some strings that play the same couple of notes throughout.
At the moment I am working on a middle section but as I loop, the srings aren't triggered - I have to play from the start (before the event starts). I did not have a problem with Cubase but I can't find a way to do this in Logic.
It's probaly quit simple though?

This typically means the midi notes themselves start before the beginning of the loop point you have choosen
You can quantize or manually move the first notes so that they start at the beginning of the loop and not just before... to resolve this..
Select the regions and then check the event list for the region to confirm this is what is going on...

Start downloading from the middle of a video

Hi all,
I am new to this forum, so pardon me if there is anything inappropriate. :")
Currently, I am writing an applet that is capable of searching within videos. The main part of the program accepts the search term and returns the time within the searched video that the search term occurs (as heard in the audio.)
The problem I am having is presenting the results. The source video is on a server, and the applet will access the video and play it using Java Media Player framework. However, it is undesirable to make the user wait for the player to prefetch (download, if that's the correct term) the whole video, which can be large.
Instead, it would be great if we can make the player start prefetching/downloading at the desired media time, for example, from the 15th second onwards, and then start playing from there.
So far, I have tried the setMediaTime method, but of course, it can only be called when the player has finished realizing. From the guide, I interpret the realization phase as simply getting the info of the media clip. However, it seems that the player must download the whole clip before it can use the setMediaTime method.

Music starts playing in the middle of a song

u have tried everything that i can think of. taking all of the music off and putting it back on, the little check mark box in options right on itunes, everything...
please help me this is really upsetting me it is really annoying to have your songs always start in the middle or wherever you left it last...

well, if you have the remember playback position checkbox checked, it will resume the song from the last point you were playing it at. try turning that option off and see what happens.
also, in the same area as the option above, what are the start and end times for the songs? if start time is not 0:00, it will not start from the beginning...

Starting Songs From The Middle Of The Song

Sometimes when listening to iTunes or my iPod, I skip a song while it is in the middle of the song. Why is it that this information is then saved so that when that song is selected next, it continues from the exact point that I skipped ahead at the last time I listened to it?
Is there a setting so that all songs will automatically start from the beginning no matter what when they are selected?

Ya, go to the song in iTunes, select it, do a Get Info and then under Options there is a check box for Remember Playback position. You will likely find this checked. Uncheck it and you should be all set.
You can select multiple songs at the same time, go a Get Info, then at the bottom there is a pull down for turning this ON/OFF for the whole groups of songs. So you could select your whole library if you wanted, Get Info and then turn it off for all of them to be sure.

AirTunes pauses then plays (in the middle of a song)

I just got a brand new Airport Express to set up a wireless network at home. All the wireless is working seamlessly. But when I try to play a song from iTunes to the router to play on my home stereo, the song plays but every now and then it pauses, then after about 5 seconds it automatically starts playing from the same place again. I have an Intel iMac with the latest iTunes. I have noticed that the song also pauses in iTunes. This doesn't happen while playing through the computer and not the stereo. I've tried restarting my computer, the Airport Express, and reconfiguring the Airport Express. My connection to the base station is very good, the menu bar status icon always shows either 3/4 or 4/4 connection strength. What is the problem?

I've been pretty lucky with my AE. Been using it non-stop and have had it for over a year and now. I used to experience the same problems initially. So I know how disappointing/frustrating this can be. It took me weeks of testing several settings until I found 2 particular settings that worked flawlessly. One setting where the AE is linked with a linksys g-range expander and another setting without the range expander. The AE has been pretty durable too bec the range expander has been replaced TWICE now.
Mine's connected to a Linksys router (in my living room 20+ ft away) and plays apple lossless/AIFF/AAC/MP3 music to my soundsystem for hours on end until i shutdown my itunes. i am also able to surf/download while playing airtunes.The music is no longer saved in my library but originates from my ipod connected via USB. Even when other people are surfing and sharing the internet connection there are no skips/hiccups.
I don't know if my settings will work but i'd try it anyway. these are my settings on a LINKSYS ROUTER w/o the G-RANGE EXPLANDER (BTW my WEP SECURITY is disabled).
Try these settings :
Run the airport admin utility application,locate the AE you wish to configure,click the NAME of the AE and then CONFIGURE.
AIRPORT TAB
wireless mode : create a wireless network
channel : 11
wireless security : not enabled
mode : 802.11g only
multicast rate : 11 (in wireless options)
tick -> ENABLE INTERFERENCE ROBUSTNESS
tansmitter power : 100%
INTERNET TAB
connect using : airport
mac address : [AE will enter these]
configure : manually
IP address : 192.168.1.103 -> [the last 3 digits can be anywhere from 100-150 I THINK.]
subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
router address : 192.168.1.1 -> [this is default IP for linksys]
DNS servers : go to router settings and click STATUS.there you will see "DNS1" and "DNS2". I used those IP numbers.
WDS TAB
tick -> enable this base station as a WDS and select "remote base station"
tick -> allow wireless clients on this base station
main airport ID : click SELECT and search for your wireless network
MUSIC TAB
tick -> enable airtunes on this base station
All other settings on the other TABS (NETWORK,PORT MAPPING, ACCESS CONTROL) were pretty much set to its default mode.

In the middle of a clip, the audio starts playing from another part.... Help?

So, I'm a bit of a technological noob, so I will describe this the best I can. I have a clip (mp4) that runs about 1 hour 30 min long. About 30 minutes into the clip, the audio from the beginning of the clip randomly starts playing, yet the video continues as it should, just the audio randomly swapped itself somehow?
I have not cut or edited the clip in any way, I simply imported it in, and put it on the timeline and no matter what I tried (restarting, clearing cache, reimporting, etc) nothing seems to fix the problem. The weirder part is, if I watch the raw file using something like Windows Media Player, the clip is just fine, no problems at all. So something must be going wrong when it's imported into Adobe Premiere.
Has anyone had this issue or know what may be causing this? I'm at a loss and it's keeping me from continuing a series I'm working on that I need to release.
As I said before, I'm a bit noobish, and this is my first time posting, so please feel free to respond with any additional info you need me to supply, and try to explain things in a noob friendly way, as I may not understand super technical jargon.
Edit: A little bit of info to help possibly... I'm using Windows 7 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS6

Hmmm okay. I've been using PP for 2 years now with the same type of "non-camera media" and never had a problem til now. But since then I've edited hours and hours of similar footage with no problem, so I may just suck it up and use something like Windows Movie Maker to edit the one clip that is messing up. How do I make songs always play from the start of the track?

I have an iphone 3GS and I have an issue. I'm sure there's a really obvious fix for this, but I can't work out what it is - can someone please help me!
So the issue is... my music always starts playing from wherever I last paused the track, no matter when I last paused it. I tend to shuffle through my music and skip tracks a lot, and so I always want my music to start from the beginning of the track. It's so annoying when I get to a track and it starts blaring from halfway through the chorus, because that's where I paused it when I listened to it last month....
Please could someone tell me how to fix this??

That is NOT normal... Restore phone! If that doesn't fix it take it to aan apple store and have them look at it! The only time the iPod app should ever start In The middle of a song is if you're playing the song you last paused!

It could be that the CD player will only playback "Redbook" CD's from the previous position.
And starts mp3 type CD's from the beginnig.
However.. it's not Logic related.

Why won't my adobe edge animations play from the start each time they are loaded on an Adobe DPS layout?

Hi there
I have an adobe DPS document with several pages, and edge animations on each page. I want each animation to play from the start when each page is opened, however, the playback seems to be very inconsistent. Some animations play from the start, others half way through, and some playback incorrectly. I want to also be able to return to each page and have the animations reload, instead of just displaying the final frame of the animation.
I have played around with the delay time which doesnt seem to fix it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My computer was rebuilt this week and I am in the process of setting up iTunes and have a weird setup issue. The music in my playlists plays but the same song doesn't play from the library. Initially, I opened ITunes while holding down Shift of control.

Scratch the post above - the musics that plays in the playlist also plays in the library and that is because i forgot that i imported from the cd yesterday. Basically, I see the rest of my music, but it doesnt' play and tells me it can't locate the file though the location in 'perferences' points to the correct location. Getting iTunes to play after a new computer or rebuild is a headache.

Why does my iPod app keep starting over from the beginning??

I have noticed lately that my iPod app seems to start over and play ALL songs on my phone from the beginning nearly every time I plug my phone into my car stereo.
I plug my phone into my car stereo and listen every day on my work commute. As such, it's very important that the music stay on the same position between the times when I'm in my car. For the most part it's been fine, even on 4.0.1, unless I rebooted the phone or did a spring board respring, or otherwise killed the iPod app from the multitask app list.
However this past week, it's been starting over from the beginning (I was playing songs from a playlist and it starts over from the beginning of ALL songs) nearly every single time I connect it to my car stereo. I have not been listening to the music between times in the car, nor have I even opened the iPod app or killed the process from the multitask bar.
This is absolutely maddening. No changes have been made to the phone in the past couple of months, other than a few App Store app updates here and there. This just started really being a problem in the past week. What could be causing this?

Dont have that problem but i have two tips:
1 Other ipod/iphone apps: they are often the problem, i had an alarm clock and that blocked the whole ipod app, so check if other apps dont use songs to wake up or anything else..
2 try to leave the ipod app trough the multitasking instead of pressing the home button?
