customer would like to know who start or stop the service on workgroup server.
But we could not find such log. Is there any way to see this information?

  • CSA Agent Start / Stop Service Logging - v5.2

    Hello,
Is there a way for the CSA MC v5.2 to log and audit CSA agent clients when the agent service is manually stop or restart. Thanks,

You can monitor a service or see Security levels other than medium on the summary screen, but the Agent Service Control rules log when securit is lowered, not raised.
There may be ways to do this but it may help if you would share what you are trying to accomplish.

  • BI server start/stop services

    Hi,
We have OBIEE installed on a unix server. Previoulsy I worked on OBIEE on windows server and would go to services and start/stop services. My question is if we modify the rpd and ftp it to unix server, do we have to stop and start the BI server for the modified rpd to work. Is it mandatory to stop the BI server, ftp the rpd and then start BI server again. Or if we do not stop the BI server and just do Refresh matadata from Answers..will this work? Thanks.

    Hi User,
You should restart the services if u ftping the rpd to unix means deploying the rpd to effect the changes
When comes to refresh metadata this ll work in case when the rpd opened in online mode and some one has made changes to get the available changes u have to do "Refresh Metadata"
    Thanks,

  • Connect Azure Pack to Service Bus for Windows Server with Custom DNS

Hello! I'm trying to configure Azure Pack to use Service Bus for Windows Server 1.1 with Custom DNS.
All runs on one virtual machine (Windows Server 2012 R2) in Windows Azure.
    I following this post:
    roysvork.wordpress.com/2014/06/14/developing-against-service-bus-for-windows-1-1
Replace FramDNS "servicebus" to "mymachine.cloudapp.net", and create certificate:
    SelfSSL /N:CN=mymachine.cloudapp.net /V:1000 /T
    On Windows Azure Virtual Machine:
    1.I'll set publuc DNS: mymachine.cloudapp.net
    2.Open ports: 10354,10355,10356,10359,10000-10004
    3.In hosts file: 127.0.0.1 mymachine.cloudapp.net
    4.Create certificate:
    SelfSSL /N:CN=mymachine.cloudapp.net /V:1000 /T
    PowerShell:
    Stop-SBFarm –Verbose
    Set-SBFarm -FarmDns 'mymachine.cloudapp.net'
    Update-SBHost –Verbose
    Start-SBFarm –Verbose
New-SBAuthorizationRule -NamespaceName ServiceBusDefaultNamespace -Name MainRule -Rights Manage, Send, Listen
Afther that i can connect to my ServiceBusDefaultNamespace with SAS.
It's work perfect. But, When I try to create Service Bus Namespace from Azure Pack Tenant portal - in Log an Exception:
Namespace Provisioning Exception. TrackingId: . SystemId: . Namespace: SomeNamespace.
Method: Activating. Exception: System.Net.Http.HttpRequestException: An error occurred while
sending the request. ---> System.Net.WebException: The underlying connection was closed:
Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel. --->
System.Security.Authentication.AuthenticationException: The remote certificate is invalid according
    to the validation procedure.
And status of namespace - Activating.
    Please help!

    Hi Alexander,
According to the log, it seems that the validation process of the certificate failed.
Please make sure that the certificate is installed in the client properly.
Usually, self-signed certificate should be installed in the Computer Account-->Trusted Root Certificate Authorities.
    Best Regards.

I could see calling to setDomainEnv.cmd script:
    *@REM Call setDomainEnv here.*
    set DOMAIN_HOME=D:\Perforce\weblogic1\dev\src_crmod\wls\mytest
    for %%i in ("%DOMAIN_HOME%") do set DOMAIN_HOME=%%~fsi

    set SAVE_JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS%
    set SAVE_CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%
But in my environment I do not see these variable set to any, JAVA_HOME, DERBY_CLASSPATH, JAVA_OPTIONS, CLASS_PATH.
This might be the issue? Or anything else?

  • Worth it? Auto start/stop services and change iptables rules

I have recently set up a crontab to start/stop services based on my schedule, such as when I'll be home or away. I intend to only have a service running when I'll probably use it.
I also integrated rules for iptables into the start/stop of the services (systemd), so they automatically modify rules to accept/reject on their ports when the services start/stop.
I am behind a router, so I only forward outside ports I use like ssh (which is not on port 22). I manually forward ports, but am looking at UPnP. This is my home network so I should be able to trust the devices on it.
Now, to my question. Is it worth the time and effort to set this up? Would it be fine to just enable the services I use, let them run and always have firewall ports open for them? I feel like it's good to limit the time that ssh is running, but what about services not open to the Internet? Resources aren't really an issue. What do you guys think?
I enjoyed learning about systemd, iptables, and cron in the process of setting it up. I'd just like to also learn about how much benefit there actually is, or if anyone has other ideas. Or if it's something that could go on the wiki (not really cron, but maybe the iptables/systemd stuff).

I'd say, if resources aren't an issue; why limit the time ssh is reachable from the outside? You should have PasswordAuthentication and RootLogin disabled anyway so your vulnerability doesn't really decrease by updating iptables? This script probably works fine until you forget about it and it makes a boo-boo; making your machine unreachable.

  • Enable logging for FTP server in 10.8

Can't figure out how to enable 10.6-style logging for FTP server in 10.8. It used to be configurable via Server Admin allowing you to choose what to log and so on and the logs would go to /Library/Logs. Now I only see some irrelevant stuff in /var/log/system.log and I want to have all the transfers logged on this server. Tried setting parameters via serveradmin ftp:setting = param but it wouldn't appear in the list afterwards no matter what (just copied those off a working 10.6 server).
As a bonus, I can't figure out where the settings for logging are stored in a 10.6 server either. There's certainly not a mention of a file named FTP.transfer.log. Weird!

So to help anyone who finds themselves in the same boat and wants to enable ftpd logging on OSX 10.8 proper:
All operations assume root which is obtained by issuing 'sudo su' or just prefixing every command with 'sudo'.
First you edit the ftpd's launchd plist file:
    pico /Applications/Server.app/Contents/ServerRoot/System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.a pple.ftpserver.plist
Find the section titled 'ProgramArguments'. Amend it so it looks like this:
    <key>ProgramArguments</key>
            <array>
                    <string>ftpd</string>
                    <string>-ll</string>
                    <string>-r</string>
                    <string>-n</string>
                    <string>-d</string>
                    <string>-c</string>
                    <string>/Library/Server/FTP/Config</string>
                    <string>-L</string>
                    <string>/var/log/ftpd.log</string>
            </array>
Second you edit /etc/asl.conf. This is necessary to make '-d' (debug) switch work since by default syslog won't log any debug-level messages at all.
    pico /etc/asl.conf
At the end of the file add the following:
    # ftpd verbose logging
    ? [= Facility ftp] [<= Level debug] file /var/log/ftpdv.log
Third important step is to reboot the server. ftpd's plist configuration is cached somewhere so restarting just the ftp server alone won't work.
Now what the added switches do:
-ll enables some logging (PUT and GET commands only despite what the man pages leads you to believe) to a file specified later by -L /path/to/file
-d enables debug mode which logs everything - including server's response. May be too verbose but at least you get a log of every single command issued to the server by your clients.

  • Service Account for SQL Server Agent on SQL Server 2008 R2

This SQL Server instance is SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.50.4000).  We had Active Domain Service accounts created to run the service accounts for SQL Server and SQL Server Agent.
It has become company policy to alter the service accounts that run SQL Server and SQL Server Agent.  Currently, both were running under the Local System Accounts.  We have altered the SQL Server but we are having issues with the SQL Server Agent.
I am told by another DBA that
"The agent is requiring elevated rights.  It will startup if it has local admin rights, but not with domain accounts without admin rights."
So I was wondering if anyone has come across this issue and how did they resolve it.
    lcerni

"The agent is requiring elevated rights.  It will startup if it has local admin rights, but not with domain accounts without admin rights."
This is completely not true. It is indeed possible to run agent as a domain account without giving it local admin. Chances are you'll need to update the local acls by adding the account to the local security groups. Please see this article for more information:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143504(v=sql.105).aspx
Edit: In addition, it'll need rights to SQL server for that account to connect and do its work. It will need to be given sysadmin:

    Hi Tim,
try to open the Java Web Start program (should be in C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_07\javaws\javaws.exe), go to File > Preferences and under the 'Proxies' section in the  'General' tab, select 'None'.
Then close all open browser windows and try again...
Note that disabling proxy servers in the Java Web Start tool will not affect normal Java Applets, which are handled by the Java browser plugin which comes with its own proxy configuration screen. If you company uses a proxy between its LAN and the net, the above setting will stop your uses from running any Java Web Start applications, such as BLE, but  not very many people use these anyways, so the impact should be minimal.
    Good luck,
    Sascha
P.S. If your users also have the JDK, then the javaws.exe binary is also found in C:\j2sdk1.4.2_07\jre\javaws.

  • Windows Server 2008 - Group policy for domain client to start/stop services installed on it

    Hello Experts
I am a newbie to windows server administration , though did a Google  , but ended up with these question with my requirements
    I have created a new domain and 2 client/computer (A & B namely) to domain . Now A & B has tomcat server running with port 8080 , 9090 which i have installed
    domain ADMIN account .
&& now i am want to start/stop/restart services enabled for domain users  !! How do i achieve this !!
basic question : How can i access A & B tomcat services on DOMAIN CONTROLLER server to create a GPO and that are on (A & B)
what is the easiest way to achieve the same , (if not using GPO)???
similarly I am looking for many features : where I want to control the permission to user on (A & B ) like : If the binaries of tomcat is available on machine say : A , if the user can install (now
    it ask for ADMIN credentials)
    Thanks
    Mike~Ed

Controlling services with Group Policy is done under Computer Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Security Settings\System Services.
The limitation is that system services can only see the services the computer running the Group Policy management console. To access other services, you will either need to create the services on your computer (install the software the adds the service)
or install the remote server administration toolkit (RSAT) on the computer with the service already on it.

  • Which is the best structure for start/stop data logging?

    Hi everybody,
hope I can explain my problem good enough that anyone can help me:
I have a VI which continuely shows on a graph the voltage of a Analog Input of a DAQ device. Now I want to allow the user to start/stop with a click on a button data logging. Means that a second loop writes to a selected path every ms the data to a spreadsheet file.
At the moment my VI works like this:
You run the VI and Labview asks you one time for the file path, then you can start and stop the data logging. But you can do it only one time. If you want to log a certain time later another file, you have to close and open the whole VI again which is not very professional...
    My target is:
It is onlyl necessary to start the VI one time. Then you can select a new file path, log data, select another file path, logging data again....and so on...
Which programm structure is necessary, can anyone help me as a labview beginner with that issue? I attached the VI if someone just wants to edit that...
Thank you for your help!! Markus

    @NaruF1 and GerdW
you are right, there is a mistake, both loop rates should be the same (10 ms) :-)
    @NaruF1
yes you understood correctly that the file dialog should appear every time the user wants to start writing a new log-file. The voltage we measure is a analog signal, so there will be several interesting periods we want to save for a later analysis in Excel.
To your 2nd point: if it works with a array it will be fine. But it must be possible to log data for lets say 5 minutes, so the array won´t be too large? (5 min @ 10  ms loop rate will be 30000 rows..
attached is the VI, saved as LV2009..
    Thanx a lot!
    @GerdW
..you ask why I didn´t create a structure like you recommended with notifiers or queues? The simple answer would be that I am not familiar with all this.. just began to write my first Labview programm. I will have al look to the LV help with all that stuff... Thank you a lot

  • Performing Exchange Server patching & service pack for mailbox server without losing some data during the rollback ?

    People,
I'd like to know how can I safely apply the Exchange Server service pack or cumulative update to the Mailbox Server role (no DAG) without losing some email during the downtime and rolling back the snapshot ?
    Can I do the following:
    1. Stop all of the Exchange Server services.
    2. Disconnect the vNIC in Mailbox server
    3. Take VM snapshot
    4. Apply the Exchange Server service Pack / Cumulative Update or Windows Update
    5. Reboot
    6. Reconnect the vNIC, if the server back online again with no issue, commit / delete the snapshot, if not, then disconnect the vNIC followed by roll back.
would that be make sense or supported from both Vmware and Microsoft http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/exchange-2010-on-vmware-support-and-licensing-guide.pdf ?
If yu have any other suggestion, please let me know here.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey AlbertWT,
I'll start off by saying that I wouldn't do it.  Microsoft is explicit that snapshots are not supported with Exchange when virtualized.  See below (from Exchange 2013 virtualization: Exchange 2013 Help):
Some hypervisors include features for taking snapshots of virtual machines. Virtual machine snapshots capture the state of a virtual machine while it's running. This feature enables you to take multiple snapshots of a virtual machine and then revert the virtual machine to any of the previous states by applying a snapshot to the virtual machine. However, virtual machine snapshots aren't application aware, and using them can have unintended and unexpected consequences for a server application that maintains state data, such as Exchange. As a result, making virtual machine snapshots of an Exchange guest virtual machine isn't supported.
Even if we ignore the support statement on snapshots this is still not a good idea.  Here are some things to consider.
    1) Cumulative updates for Exchange make changes to the Active Directory Schema.  Rolling back the snapshot on the Mailbox server will not roll back the changes to AD, which could cause functional and supportability issues.  See this link to give you an idea of how there are AD schema updates in every Exchange CU and service pack: Exchange 2013 Active Directory schema changes: Exchange 2013 Help
    2) It is possible for email to come in during the time that you're testing the update, and if you need to roll back you would need a plan to get that email back.  Third party services could work, or you could prevent email from coming into your environment completely during that time, but those are not ideal solutions.
A far better solution would be to create a lab environment that is isolated from production.  You could either take clones of your Exchange and AD VMs and put them into a network fenced environment, or create a lab and import your AD structure so it matches production.  I think this is a far better way to test than trying to rely on snapshots in production.
    Hope that helps!
    Matt

    * The JMS service is unable to start on the port 7676 which I find free .
    * The directory /home/jai/cts141/SUNWappserver/imq/var/instances also holds all permissions to all users
    * The log for MQ startup gets created if I explicitly run the script imqbrokerd located at /home/jai/cts141/SUNWappserver/imq/bin.
But this script does not get executede when the server is started .
But all these JMS startup happens fine when I start the sever setup with
previous version of Java (Java 1.4.2).
    Please clarify the same.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Jay

I guess if you don't start the managed servers with NodeManager they do come up?
Not sure if this is related, but did you take a look at MOS note 1336100.1? It basically says there was a failure during configuration of NodeManager; it is not entirely related to forms but to FMW 11.1.1.5 which is somehow the version number of forms 11.1.2. A cause of it is that NodeManager isn't using the correct script when starting a managed server; this also sounds a little bit like your problem...
Regarding the OutOfMemory exception you might look at note 1312573.1; it is related to running WLS as windows services (without NodeManager); but it might as well apply to running the Servers with NodeManager.
It might be a shot in the dark, but it might be worth a try.
In any case when running into (forms related) troubles with weblogic I found very little specific forms related informations on weblogic; this is probably due to the fact that forms doesn't make much use of weblogic at all (all in all most of the work is done by the good old fashioned C- forms runitmes); but the generic notes on weblogic often did the trick.
    cheers

  • OBIEE Start/Stop Services failed(After LDAP Configuration)

    Hi ,
We made some changes(that is we have added new OID
and configured the new OID based upon the Oracle BI security guide which is in Oracle Site
) to the LDAP configuration in OBIEE web console and it prompted for a restart of the OBIEE services . when we tried restarting the services we are not able to stop all the services . Please find the attached log files .
    Note:
1.unable to kill the process ID
which is releated to OBIEE 11.1.1.6.0 services..
2.We have follwed the section 3 in the below link to configure the LDAP : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/bi.1111/e10543/toc.htm.
Please find the below error details in short form and kindly find the attahced file(file name) for more details

"JPS-02597: You configured a custom Authentication Provider or WLS generic LDAPAuthenticator, which the libOvd can not recognize. Supply the idstore.type property in jps-config.xml file, or use a specific WLS LDAP Authentication provider that matches your LDAP server instead of a generic one."
Looks like the config you entered was a tad off. Any chance you can roll back by restoring the original files from before the change?
    $FMWH/user_projects/domains/yourdomain/config/config.xml
    $FMWH/user_projects/domains/yourdomain/config/fmwconfig/jps-config.xml
In the config.xml, inside the <realm> tag yo ushould find your authenticaiton providers and there's two important things for your new one to check:
1.) xsi-type="wls:..." <-- This should be your OID type rather than a generic (or wrong) one
2.) If you're not 100% sure about the config or don't want to immediately shut out native WLS users or want to retain them (both OID and WLS LDAP considered valid), then PLEASE make sure that you run your new authenticator with <sec:control-flag>SUFFICIENT</sec:control-flag> and don't make it REQUIRED since otherwise you won't be able to bring anything up anymore if a single parameter in the authenticator config is off...
Also, check out what Tony wrote together a while back: http://www.peakindicators.com/index.php/knowledge-base/115-oracle-bi-11g-security-troubleshooting
    Update:
Should have read the error message more carefully...looks like you actually just slipped by one line in the authenticator config and chose "OracleVirtualDirectory" instead of "OracleInternetDirectory" since it tries to use the libOvd rather than the OID one.
