Start/Stop timing of songs

I can change the Stop time for a song, but how do I Start the song early ? I tried to input a negative time but that did not work.

Edit > Preferences > Playback, and enable the Crossfade option. That is the closest thing to what you are describing.

How do I chnage the start/stop time for multiple songs not just one song at a time?

I don't think you can in iTunes.
Multiple editing in Get Info does not offer an option to change start/stop times.

I have a 2009 A6 with a 5th Gen. iPod pluggedinto the MMI.  I mostly  listen to audio books, not a lot ofmusic.  The books are 4-6 hours long, vs 4-6minutes with a song.  Often, but not always, when I start my A6, the MMI starts on the first song on my iPod, thereforeI don't know where I stopped in my 4-6 hour book.  How can I get the interface to stay stopped where I left off?  I have gone into iTunes and placed my current book as the first "song" on my iPod for ease of finding it, but often the MMI starts it over at the beginning.  Thank you if anyone has any experience with this.  My dealer in San Rafael, CA says they've never heard of this issue.

I think my iPod, which is an iPod touch 3rd generation , which is a lot different from a nano, which really makes it almost impossible for me to help you, which is why I suggested that you post your question in the iPod nano community.  Your first post says that your product is an iPod nano. I think the people who answer those questions would be most likely to help you. If yours isn't a nano then you can pick the right community from here. This community is really to answer questions about this forum, or issues that don't fit anywhere else.

  • If I have manually set "Start Time" and "Stop Time" for songs, and my hard drive is backed up in Time Machine, when files/songs are transferred on new hard drive, will my "Start Time" "Stop Time" options be there?

My Macbook Pro will be going in for reimaging and my hard drive will be wiped, I want to know if all my iTunes preferences will be copied if I have backed them up on Time Machine. Specifically, if I have set certain "Start Time" and "Stop Time" for my songs, and I copy my iTunes library, will these "Start Time" and "Stop Time" options remain or will I have to manually set them one by one once again? I need a reply ASAP! Thanks so much!

As far as I'm aware the start & stop times are stored in the library database, not the media files. If you backup/restore/transfer the whole library then the settings are included. If you create a complete copy of your iTunes folder on another drive you can connect to that copy by holding down option/alt as you start iTunes so you can check that everything is working properly before you send the Macbook away.

  • How to adjust Start/Stop position of a song on the iPhone (not iTunes)?

    Hello all,
Before I caught my flight today, I decided to make a ringtone of my new favourite song. Obviously one of the steps in doing so involves selecting a specific start and stop position within iTunes be fore creating the ringtone.
So I got on the plane and realised that I didn't remove the start/stop positions on the song after creating the ringtone. Now i'm stuck with only a 40s interval being able to be played!
Please tell me there is a way to change the start/stop position of the song within the actual iPhone as I won't have access to my iTunes library for quite some time!
    Any help appreciated.

  • Music spontaneously starts, stops, stutters at random and I'm not even using that app. Repeated attempts to pause the song and close the app have no affect. Just keeps popping on and off randomly no matter what I'm doing at the time.

How do I eliminate this glitch?  Music spontaneously starts, stops, stutters at random and I'm not even using that app. Repeated attempts to pause the song and close the app have no affect. Just keeps popping on and off randomly no matter what I'm doing at the time. I tried double-clicking the Home button which brings up all of the active apps, touched and held the Music icon until all the icons started wiggling, tapped the Close icon in the upper left corner of the Music app to close the app completely, but the app is still open and still randomly stuttering. I did notice that the play button icon flashes in the upper right corner of the screen when this happens and it appears and disappears in concurrence with the Music app stuttering. When the music starts, the icon appears and when it stops, the icon disappears again. When the music stutters on and off, the icon appears and disappears rapidly and in sync with that random glitch. This just started today for no apparent reason. I turned the iPad off, waited 30 seconds and turned it back on. As soon as it was finished starting up, the same music glitch began again immediately. I'm using iOS 6.1.3.

Well, no one seems to have any answers or ideas for me, I'll update what I've been able to accomplish.
I reloaded all 14 disks in the time frame of watching Lord of the Rings on Fri. nite.
Funny thing is, the first disk pulled the info from the online store! Hooray!
Wait-then all the next 13 could find no information online...what the heck is up with that? So I MANUALLY assign each disk a new track # to co-inside with each disk, spent about 2 hours doing that.
But still, itunes tells me my playlist is too large, there's not enough space on the ipod. so I unchecked 1 1/2 disks (I'd listen to 1/2 of disk 1 previously) and voila! there's my ipod full of my book. Finally. But what a lot of bother just to keep things in order!

  • Separate Start/Stop times for a single song file

I am trying to create some playlists for different moods e.g. calm, happy, upbeat etc.
Now, my problem is this. I have some songs that have more than one mood within them, and I would like to set different start/stop times for the one song file.
I would like to be able to set different start/stop times in each playlist and not affect the start/stop times for the file in the music library.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

The only way to do this is to make a duplicate copy of the song for your playlist and adjust the times for the duplicate.

  • How do I tell what songs have altered Start/Stop times (Under "Get Info-Options") without opening every single song.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, I'll change the Start/Stop times of my songs, and I'll forget which ones I've done this to. For me, this can be a hassle, due to the number of songs I have, and the actual amount I listen to my iPod. I'll admit that it's my fault, that when I'm making a ringtone or simply shortening a song temporarily, I'll almost definitely forget to change that shortened time back after I'm done. But that moment when you're listening to a song and it abruptly ends, especially in a place I don't have access to iTunes (and in that situation I usually forget before I get home, exacerbating the problem even further), it can be the most annoying thing ever for me. I don't want to deal with it any longer, though, so here's my question:
How can I view which songs have altered Start/Stop times, without needing to view the Info for each individual song? I can't select all songs and then select "Get Info", because if I do that it won't even show the Option. The only reason I'm here is because I tried to figure it out myself, for weeks on end, and have returned no valid options for solution. So can someone please help me?

Customize the Finder window toolbar, adding the Path icon to it. Select an item and click on the Path icon or, as you already know, add path to the window. There's also copypath.app available via the App Store.

  • If I have mistakenly started to download a song or album from iCloud on my iPhone, can I stop the download?

If I have mistakenly started to download a song or album from iCloud on my iPhone, can I stop the download?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • Itunes 10.4.1 end of songs cut-off: not crossfade or start/stop settings

the end of many songs is skipped during playback with itunes 10.4.1
its usually after about 3:40 minutes.
it is not the crossfade or the start/stop settings of the tracks in the 'info' section.
this has just STARTED happening.  Anybody else getting this?  Is it some recent update bug?
    any advice?

ITunes started opening automatically about every 30 seconds on my P.C. - I realised that the last thing I did when I connected my iPad to my PC (last time using my USB cable connection) was to put a "X" in the box that said "Sync using wifi".  I re-connceted my iPad by the cable  and I unchecked this box,  iTunes stopped opening automatically every 30 seconds.
My PC was obviously looking for my iPad by wifi every 30 seconds,

  • Certain songs have started stopping half way through and skipping to the next track, how do i fix?

Recently I have found the certain songs, and its always the same ones, have started stopping half way thru and skipping to the next track.  Even if I manually try and forward thru to the end of the track they wont go beyond half way. Does anyone else have this issue and are there any fixes?

I have figured out a fix.  I have deleted the songs in question and then gone to the 'purchased' section in iTunes Store and re-downloaded the tracks and they work fine.  Haven't found a problem on a non-downloaded track yet so not sure what fix would be there.

  • Start/Stop music time in iTunes not syncing to iPod

Hi, I've managed to change the start/stop times in a few of my songs to skip some lengthy intros/outros in iTunes, but for some reason, these changes refuse to be synced onto my iPod Touch (second gen).
I'm not exactly sure what to do in this situation... any suggestions are greatly appreciated :]
Edit: No idea how this got into the iPod nano 4th gen subforum... I was in the iPod Touch subforum when posting this

I just went through and tried both updating and authorizing my computer to play the music. I have the most recent version, and even after authorizing my computer nothing has changed.
If this helps, even on the iTunes screen, while the music files show up in the iTunes part of the library, the smart lists are empty of the same music files under the iPod listing.
Thanks for the help, perhaps you can provide more?

  • My MacBook Pro 10.6.8 prompted me of a new itunes update this morning, so i downloaded it. Since then itunes has been starting up randomly on its own, and starts playing the first song on the list. I quit itunes, and it keeps reopening.

My MacBook Pro 10.6.8 prompted me of a new itunes update this morning, so i downloaded it. Since then itunes has been starting up randomly on its own, and starts playing the first song on the list. I pause the song, and it resumes it on its own again. I'm not joking. So, I end up quiting out of itunes; but, it starts right back up again on its own. After quiting out of the app a few times, it eventually stops reopening; however, about an hour later (or less) it opens again. HOW DO I MAKE IT STOP? I'm just about to delete itunes, because I've had enough of this crap. I hope someone can help. I've restarted the laptop, and it seemed like that fixed it, then itunes started up doing the same thing again an hour later. ituneshelper is unchecked; bluetooth is off; i only have speakers and a mouse plugged in (also charger).

Read this Apple Discussion Thread and possible solutions. The audio jack has been the main culprit, also certain sync and automation settings including connected remotes.

  • Way to Erase All Start/Stop Time Data?

I used a DJ plugin called BPMer to load the BPMs into all my MP3s. It had an option "Optimize Start and Stop Times." This helps the program skip ambient intros of songs in order to beatmatch, mix and crossfade more efficiently. The only problem is that the information is retained under Get Info:Options:Start/Stop Times even if the plugin is turned off. It is stored in the ID3 info. I am wondering how to universally delete this information or reset it to default because I do not feel like going to every song individually to reset it (I'd have to do it about 6000 times). I tried selecting multiple songs, but the Start/Stop does not show up under Options when multiple tracks are selected.
Also don't suggest to re-run the BPMer program with the box unchecked for optimize start/stop times. I tried it. I figured out how to make BPMer not edit the times in the future, but it won't erase or overwrite the old start/stop info on tracks I already used it on.
Sort of a weird problem, but any ideas to save me from the nightmare of doing this individually 6000 times are greatly appreciated.

Doug Adams has a script over at his great site that should help with what you're trying to do.

  • Batch / script file to start /stop sap server

    Hi,
I would like to start/stop SAP server using batch file (in windows). I need this, whenever we have to shutdown the server and restart of the server, so that SAP will automatically shutdown and restart using batch files while server restart cases? If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks,
    Regards,
    Sundar.

target of the 700 sapstartsrv improvement was to deliver identical functionality on all SAP platforms. As the DCOM programing model is only available on Windows platforms sapstartsrv.exe was enhanced by the WEB-Service interface and is available now on Unix too.
The DCOM SAPControl interface of sapstartsrv.exe is still existing, but only on Windows. Here you can use VB Script or any other programming language able to handle DCOM objects to write your own programs / scripts to interact with the SAPControl.
sapcontrol.exe is a command line program available since 700 which enables you control over nearly all functions of the sapstart service.
Even it has the same name as the DCOM interface it' something completly different.
