Start up disk for lion

Can anyone help me out? I'm sure this quastion has been asked before but I've recently run disk utility and it has told me that my Mac HD drive is corrupted and to reboot with a startup diskt so that I can repair it. I've executed verify disk permissions, verify disk, and repiar disk permissions but it wont let me repair the disk saying that I must reboot using a startup disk. Can anybody help? The Mac is working fine, with no discrnable problems. I also have a MacBook Air, which might be able to help?

Reboot holding the command-r keys. It should boot up from the recovery partition. You can use disk utility from there.

How do I create a start-up disk for Lion

I would like to resize the Boot Camp partition on my new iMac running Lion 10.7.2. To do that, using iPartition, I need to boot the system from another drive. Ideally I'd like to use a USB flash drive or a DVD as the alternative boot drive.
Obviously I can't boot from the Recovery HD partition on the iMac's boot drive, so I used Recovery Disk Assistant to build a Recovery HD on a flash drive. When I boot the system up from that flash drive I can see the icons for all of my files on the iMac, including those on the secondary hard drive, where iPartition lives, but I can't seem to launch any applications, including iPartition, because they are all grayed out. Best I can tell, the Recovery HD is designed to provide installation and repair services, but doesn't give you a fully functioning OS.
So my question is: How do I create a disk that will allow me to start-up a fully functioning copy of Mac OS X Lion from a drive other than my normal boot drive? My second question is: Do I need to move iPartition to that drive or will it run from the secondary drive built in to the iMac.
I'm a newbie to the Apple world, so if the answer is completely obvious, please forgive me for asking.

I used SuperDuper to create a bootable clone on an external drive where I installed my maintenance programs. Now whenever I need then I just boot from it.

Disk Utility wants start up disk for Lion

My 2.66 Ghz Intel i7 MacBook pro seems to have slowed down considerably after the Lion OS upgrade. I ran a scan using DiskUtility and it says the disk has errors. The repair needs me to start up the MacBook Pro using a startup disk/installation disk. Since its an online upgrade how to create a startup boot disk?

Lion has a Recovery volume which you can run the DiskUtility on the main volume that needs repaired.
Reboot hold command-R or alternatively hold the option key down.

Try calling 1-800-676-2775. Give the serial number and thy *may* still burn you new install disks designed just for the hrdware in your system (for a fee, something like $160 per disk). *May* is only because they may not burn disks for Leopard anymore.
If they do not burn them for you, you can buy Leopard disks off Amazon or eBay for about $200.
Have you considered Snow Leopard?. Those disks only cost $19 (single user) or $29 (5-user license) through Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE.

Once the Lion download is complete quit the installer and follow these directions. The file you need to make a boot disk disappears after you install Lion.

However, the Lion installation includes a recovery partition. It won't be of help if your entire HD dies but is very handy otherwise. This Knowledge Base article has a lot of good information about Lion's recovery partition.

Start up disk for Macintosh Plus

I need to make a start up disk for a Macintosh Plus I recently acquired. I have a Mac Classic that works. I have tried copying the System and Finder files onto a floppy using the Classic but I always get the message that the files are too large to fit on the floppy disk. What files are essential to a start up disk? Can I actually make one for the plus that will fit on one disk? I am using system 6.x. Thanks for your help.

First of all, remember that the Macintosh Plus only can handle 800K Mac floppies (DSDD/2DD), while the Macintosh Classic is capable of using 1.44 MB (HD). It is possible to format/write/read 800K disks on the Classic.
If necessary, you can find 800 K disk images containing system disks at the Apple download site. However, these are in a MacBinary format (.bin) that has to be decoded (via an appropriate version of StuffIt Expander or StuffIt) on a suitable Mac. The disk images then have to be written to floppies by Disk Copy 4.2 (here).

Call Apple technical support. They can probably sell you a new set of the original disks for a reasonable fee, if your iMac did come with installation disks (Macs that shipped with OS X 10.7 or 10.8 did not come with disks).

Why is it a Unique version of Lion? The only versions of Lion are ones for older Macs, Before the Mid 2012 models came out, and a version that includes the newer drivers for the newest model Macs, Current shipping Mid 2012 models.
If you are talking about a version for the new Mid 2012 models then you will need to wait for Apple to update their Lion Download servers because right now they do not have the newest Lion version available on those servers.

Warning on my HD start up disk for the core service remote management

i keep getting this "volumes needs to be repaired when i run Onyx telling me i need to do "command r" at start up to fix permisions. When i go into System Preferences the actual icon of the "start up" disk has a ? mark on top of it.
So i go into start up "command r" and run verify permissions on the Macintosh HD and this is what i am getting.

As Niel said, you have to install OS X through OS X Recovery. Respecting to iLife, if your Mac came with DVDs, you should have it on the Applications DVD that came with the Mac, and if it didn't come with DVDs, open App Store > Purchases, and install iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand.
Then, if you want, you can download OS X from the App Store instead of using Recovery, so you can burn the installer onto a DVD or USB drive with Lion Diskmaker, so you won't have to redownload OS X each time you want to reinstall. As you have a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, it will only work if it came with OS X Lion and you upgraded to Mountain Lion

Do you not have a Snow Leopard DVD? To install Tiger will require that you erase the drive.
Drive Preparation
1. Boot from your Tiger Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. When completed quit DU and return to the installer. Install Tiger.

My personal Adobe Creative Suite 4 disks bought in 2010 were damaged by my kids. I would like to re-install the suite after a recent upgrade of the OS in my laptop. Is it still possible to re-install online using the serial number on my disk box?

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps. the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

Macs with pre-installed OS X Lion don't come with physical media. You have a recovery partition on your internal hard disk on your mac. If you want to reinstall OS X, hold down CMD + R when you hear the startup sound.
