Start up error with Premiere Elements 7

When I start Premiere Elements 7 I get this message.
[..\..\Src\DirectoryRegistry.ccp-283]
I can just see the Splash screen behind this error message but when I accept this message the computer shuts PE7 down completely.
I am using a quad 4 processor with Windows 7
Any suggestions please.

Thanks for the update. Sorry that the news was not better. But do not give up.
After I saw your message, I did some Google searching. The following is some of what I found
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/windows-installer-error-1 325-documents-is-not-a/d70411d0-017d-41f0-b5b4-0861b6ca9955
I have some further suggestions which you might consider. If you have professional help, then best let it handle the overall situation, especially if it is going to take you into the Registry where you might not feel comfortable.
My suggestion would be to uninstall Premiere Elements 7, do a run through with ccleaner (regular clearner and registry cleaner parts) and then reinstall Premiere Elements 7. Many have used ccleaner with pros and no cons. In the registry cleaning part, there is a step for you to backup the registry in a file saved to Documents or wherever you want on the computer hard drive.
But, go with what you feel comfortable doing. If you have Premiere Elements 7 projects in the works and can get into Premiere Elements, you may want to Project Archive them for safe keeping.during this time whether you run the ccleaner or not.
We will be watching for your progress.
Thank you.

  • Transcoding Error with Premiere Elements 7

I have worked with Lightroom and with Photoshop Elements, and I am now trying to use Premiere Elements (7) to create a project of video clips and stills from my Canon DSLR.  I can create a DVD with eleven video clips (although it will not play on my old-ish DVD player, just on my computer), but when I add 18 JPEGs (generated from RAW files), I get a "transcoding error" when I try to burn a DVD.  Even without burning, when I try Preview, the still images look extremely low-res.  Any way I can get this to work?
And, please pardon me for saying it, but I use Lightroom a great deal, Elements somewhat, and I have a pretty new 4 GB RAM Dell with much NTFS disk space, and two decades of doing computer support professionally.  Given all of that, Premiere Elements seems to be an atrocious performer - 7 anyway.  It takes an incredibly long time to load, and starts flashing "running low on memory" messages shockingly quickly.  A glance at forum messages suggests that 8 may not be an improvement.  Any suggestions on performance?  Lightroom is pretty much lightning fast.

    Welcome to the forum.
First, editing Video is far more intense on the computer, than even very large images in PS. The resources issue can likely be overcome by the tips in this ARTICLE.
Also, with any resources issues, remember that these can be physical RAM, and also the Windows Virtual Memory (Page File). The size, location and management of the Page File can be very important, especially if one has many other programs and Processes stealing resources unnecessarily.
Last, let's talk about the burning (and Transcoding) of a DVD-Video. First place to look would be the size of your still images. You cannot display more pixels, than the Frame Size of your Project. Unless you are doing a lot of animation, having them any larger than the Frame Size is a waste. The quality will actually be better, if you do your resizing in PS, and not letting PrE do it for you. This ARTICLE will give you some tips. Having to process large stills will rob your system of necessary resources.
As for the burned DVD-Video not playing in a set-top player, and only a computer, the most likely causes of this are the blank media itself, and too high a burn speed. I strongly recommend using Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden media, and recommend against using Memorex, TDK, recent RiteK or any store brands. I also would use slower speed media, as PrE will try to get the fastest burn, based on the speed of the blank media and the burner. Slower is better. I can manually assign the speed in my authoring program, and choose a speed at least half of the max.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Constant errors with Premiere Elements/Photoshop 7 - will upgrade to 9 help?

I currently have Premiere Elements 7 and Photoshop 7 on my computer. Both crash a lot, often with no error messages. I also cannot seem to backup my Photoshop files. I want to purchase and install Premiere Elements 9 (and Photoshop) but am worried about losing my existing images/video. I'm also concerned that I will have the same issues once I upgrade to version 9.
If I cannot backup these files, is it probable that I will lose them? Any advice is appreciated.

  • Transcoding error with Premiere Elements at 50% encoding point

I am getting a transcoding error at exactly the 50% encoding point multiple times.  I have reduced the amount of video to burn and also tried burning to a file with no success.  I have even purchased a 1 TB hard drive, re-installed Windows XP and the Premiere Elements software to make sure I had enough hard drive space and still am getting the error.  Any other ideas.

  • How do I fix/avoid installation error with Premiere Elements 3.0?

I am trying to reinstall my copy of Premiere Elements 3.0. My desktop crashed and I had to reimage the hard drive, necessitating reinstallation of most of my software. The software worked fine before the crash. I get an error message to the effect that "Premiere Elements could not load audio drivers--Please reinstall and try again."  I've tried several times with the same result. Any ideas?

Depending on your computer vendor there might/should be a disc (CD or DVD) that is separate from Windows Vista, which contains device driver software and/or small application programs that are designed to make the motherboard fully functional

  • Start up problems with Premiere Elements v3.0.2

I had this program working on my laptop (XP) but wanted to use it on my desktop (vista).
I installed it and it started to work but immediately after the splash screen the program closed down.
I thought it might have something to do with activation or licensing so I uninstalled it from the laptop. Then uninstalled it from the desktop and reinstalled it on the desktop.
When I open the program it goes through the splash screen then disappears.  I thought it might be a vista issue and downloaded the 3.0.2 version but the installer said that I already had that version installed.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    ATR,
When you say that the program opens to the splash screen and then closes...does it get as far as "loading Wave_Warp.AE" (see splash screen loading sequence) and just stays there before you say it closes? Or, what loading sequences does the program go through before the closure? Or, does the splash screen just pop on and off without any loading sequence shown in the splash screen?
You point out some important distinctions, in what a crash/freeze at loading can mean.
In the loading process, the Adobe NLE's (Non Linear Editors) search for and attempt to load all VST's and Effects, that are around. The Effects are the ones in the program's folder hierarchy, but VST's can be system-wide.
With VST's, three things can happen:
1.) the VST (usually a .dll) will load perfectly in the NLE, and can be used by it.
2.) the VST will load perfectly, but cannot be used by the NLE. Usually, the first time that this happens, a warning message to that effect will be displayed (one time), but never again. The VST is loaded, but just cannot be used.
3.) the VST cannot be loaded and will crash/hang the NLE.
In case 3, these VST's come from other programs, most often programs that edit Audio. They may included with that program (like Native Instruments, or some other Audio program), or might have been added by the user for use in some other, usually Audio program.
Finding out exactly what is happening before the NLE crashes/hangs can be very important. Sometimes, the splash screen goes by very quickly, and are hard to read. I recommend that one set up their video camera to shoot the monitor, while the program loads. This allows one to review the tape and see exactly what is being loaded. One can also pause and read the very last line in the load process.
With program crashes and hangs, there can be tons of "clues" available. The problem is to find the clues and then learn something from them. That article that I linked to above looks at things from the system standpoint. ATR is pointing to some possible clues right on the splash screen. The first order of business is to find as many clues as is possible, and the second is to sort and study those clues.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

There is a known No Disc error using Premiere Elements 13.
The fix is to delete the OldFilm.AEX file which is found in Window 8.1 64 bit
    Local Disk C
    Program Files
    Adobe
    Adobe Premiere Elements 13
    Plug-ins
    Common
    NewBlue
and in the NewBlue Folder is the OldFilm.AEX file that you delete.
Adobe first posted this information in one of the threads here, and it has worked for essentially all who have
gotten the No Disc error in Premiere Elements 13.
Please let us know if this works for you also.

  • Error Installing Premiere Elements 9 - Exit Code 7

Hi, I'm trying to install Premiere Elements 9 on a Mac (running 10.6.4), but it always comes up with an error, and the program can't be installed. Last time I tried it got to about 95% but then gave me this error:
    Exit Code: 7
    -------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
    - 0 fatal error(s), 3 error(s), 3 warning(s)
WARNING: Payload cannot be installed due to dependent operation failure
WARNING: File/Folder does not exist at /Volumes/PRE9 PSE9/Adobe Premiere Elements 9/payloads/AdobeElements9Organizer/oem/ols
WARNING: Payload cannot be installed due to dependent operation failure
ERROR: The following payload errors were found during install:
ERROR:  - Adobe Premiere Elements 9_LangPacken_US: Install failed
ERROR:  - Adobe Premiere Elements 9: Failed due to Language Pack installation failure
I've tried this four or five times, and I always get exactly the same error. The only help the installer offered was "Please try restarting your system and try again." and all I could find on Adobe Support was "Install under Safe Boot Mode", which I tried, and it still failed.
Does anyone have any ideas whatsoever as to what I can do to actually get this installed?
Thank you very much in advance, anyone who can help!

I've never seen so many error codes related to language, jobbo! That's very strange.
Meantime, I've loaded Premiere Elements and run it on a couple of Macs, and it usually loads right up and runs beautifully. There does seem to be a conflict with Bridge sometimes, but I'm not sure if that's the case here or not.
It might be worth contacting Adobe's tech support. (You find contact information under the Contact button at the top of this page.) And, when you do, ASK FOR A MANAGER, don't just talk to whoever answers the phone. Most of the guys on the phones are just working from scripts and KB articles. If you can get a manager on the line, he and she will work through your unique situation.
Meantime, I'll keep my eyes open for solutions.
(BTW, I'm assuming you're using at least OSX 10.4 on at least a dual-core Intel processor.)

  • Burning dvd with premiere elements 11

I burn video files on to dvds.  I always key NTSC widescreen.  Sometimes, the image fills the tv screen.  Most of the time however, there is a 2" wide black border around the image, between the image and the edge of the tv screen.  How do I get the image to fill the tv screen?

Thank you for responding to my problem.  I'm afraid the reading didn't help.  All of my 20 files were created with the same camera, the same project settings, the same equipment, etc.  But when I burned each of them to their own dvd disc, a few of the programs filled the frame on the tv down the hall.  Most however, have a 2" black border around the image.  It makes no sense to me.

  • Proxy Editing with Premiere Elements 10

I just read the great post on how to proxy edit with version 7 at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/390600?tstart=0, but I cannot find a way to save a preset with Premiere Elements 10 so I could then modify it to display previews in low-res and output in full HD. The online help from the program mentions "creating" presets, but then only describes how to slelect existing presets. Can anyone tell me how to make a new project preset, or better yet, if there is a built-in way to proxy edit with 10? Thanks!

For reasons that I have not figured out, your last message arrived as an email notification of an Adobe post, but it is not posted in your thread yet. In that post you wrote:
The properties for the clips shows:
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1920x1080
    Frame Rate: 23.976
The Interpret Footage settings show under Frame Rate the radio button for Use frame rate from file: 23.9750 is selected, and under Pixel Aspect Ratio the radio button for use pixel aspect ration from file is selected.
I never received a message to change the project preset.
As a test, I imported a clip that was shot at 1920x1080 30fps and added it to the timeline. I did not receive an error message, but this clip also has a red line above it on the timeline (as do the 24 fps clips).
Thanks for the help AT and SG.
Based on the information supplied, I cannot see a reason why your video should be displaying with a red line over its content
    IF
    a. Your project preset = NTSC DLSR 1080p DLSR 1080p30 @ 23.97
    b. You are dragging the import (1080p @ 23.7 progressive frames per second) from Media to Timeline as the first video to be placed on that Timeline
Please review these criteria and let us know if you spot anything that you have as not consistent with a and b.
Keep in mind, when you bring in a file that is 1080p30 into this project set for 1080p24, you would expect to get a red line over the 1080p30 content since there is a mismatch between file and the project settings.
Another important matter that I am not clear on...is your problem only in previewing? Or does the problem go to previewing as well as exported product?
    Thanks.

Peter, Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, you have posted to the Tip & Tricks sub-forum, which is really a repository for, well "tips & tricks." Maybe our MOD, Steve Grisetti, will move this out ot the main, Adobe Premiere Elements forum. That said, Adobe AfterEffects is a stand-alone program, for compositing video. It is not a plug-in, nor does it directly interface with PrE, as it can with Premiere Pro, if purchased in a suite. Still, the work in PrE can go to AE, and the work in AE can come back into PrE, though not in the direct line, that it can with one of the suites with PrPro and AE, via Adobe Dynamic Link (ADL). There are also several 3rd party providers, but one does need to do a bit of looking, on the 3rd party provider's Web site, to see if PrE is supported. Good luck, Hunt
