Start up error wont boot

hi when i start my pc it shows repair but when i click this to ends up going to a blue screen and wont do anything, ive tried safe mode it brings up a list then freezes ive just done a diagnostics test and got hard disk 1 (303) come up,what does this mean,do i need a new hard drive? thankyou

Hi Pacnchez,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Notebook and getting a blank or black screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices. If that does not help try to turn on the computer you start to press F10 repeatedly till the menu opens. You can do a restore BIOS to defaults.
If that does not help on startup start to press F2 and you can run system diagnostics (takes a while).
Hope this is helpful.
Thanks.

  • Satellite X200-25H - 3 beeps on start up and wont boot-up

Hi guys, I'm looking for a little advice before I get in touch with Tosh, it might be something I can fix myself hopefully.
I Have a slight issue with my laptop at present. I've turned it on this morning and received 3 beeps on start up (a quieter beep pause then loud beep pause then another loud beep) and fails to boot. I have the power, battery and standby lights on lit and the fans appear to be whirling ever so slightly but I cant get no POST or the Toshiba Screen to appear. On the surface it looks like a hardware fault, the thing is in the few years I've had this laptop, I've not experienced any issues what so ever.
It was fine shutting down last night, the error seems to have appeared from nowhere.
Any idea what these 3 beeps could point to? I've had a quick look this morning ie re-seating the RAM and Hard Drives but I got fed up trying to figure out which of the 100 more screws I needed to undo to get to the GPU's and CPU haha. Just looking for a little direction.
    Kind Regards
    Tony

    Hi
Yes, the single motherboard is very expensive so if warranty is not valid anymore then its not worth to spend the money only for new mobo.
    >>It is unfair that after spending lot of cash for the notebook, it didn't last longer than 3 1/2 years completely disappointed with Toshiba now.
Guess what? My dad bought a notebook from another manufacturer; the notebook did not boot up after 3 month of usage. Fortunately the warranty was still valid.
So its just a bad luck dude. Notebook can start to malfunction after some days/weeks of usage of after years or it will run properly the whole time.
Ive got two Toshiba notebooks. Until now everything works properly.

  • Hal.dll error; wont boot pav9000; no cd; pre-loaded XP pro sp 3

File there, but corrupt; have hirens boot and spotmau--dont know how to use.   computer at 92% data capacity.  Lost all data last time i recovered (poorly, i might add).  so no recovery....took 6 mos to load.....  have seen hundreds of responses in forums--too complex for my feeble intellect.  dont have a programming aptitude, but understand systems and logic principles well.  please somebody with great patience and empathy--is there a no-cd solution--curse every mfg. that no longer provides set up discs....am no good at sending files/logs etc--i can relate well (er, i think)?...helloooooo....

    Startup from the windows CD,
delete the 200MB sized partition and the Bootcamp partition.
Then make a new NTFS partition from the new space and install XP.
It's the 200MB partition that has something to do with boot record, Bootcamp does not recognize it's own partition as bootpartition!
    Good luck installing windows!

  • Errors At Boot

I should preface this with I'm not a Linux noob, but I am no expert either (I get by).  Also I hope this is the right forum to post in. So after I updated about a week ago I start seeing errors at boot.  Never could quite see exactly what they were so today I logged dmesg to a text file.  I should also say the only real problem I have seen outside of the errors showing is Plex Media Server having an issue streaming my media that is kept on a separate hard drive from the main system.  After the errors show the system continues to boot to Openbox.  I was hope someone could tell me what the errors are and how to not get them anymore.  I have posted the dmesg log below, thanks in advanced for any help.

  • Dm4 wont boot- hard disk error but passes hard disk test

My dm4 laptop froze yesterday and I was forced to restart it- it is 3 years old but I have had no issues with it. When trying to reboot it will not start and if I run windows repair it comes up with the failed 2 hdd error. I thought it was a hard drive failure as I originally got a 305 error code when running the hard drive test. Upon opening system diagnostics I ran the hard disk test and it passed no problem. However if I run any of the other tests- start up, run in, or system tune up, I get the error Hard Disk 1. I tried the hard disk test again and it passes. Ive run Avg virus scan and found no threats. I have no idea what is going on- I did a BIOS rollback and the computer still wont boot up. What is happening and can I recover my data?

With the intermittent errors,it sounds like the hard drive is failing and will need to be replaced. A retail laptop SATA hard drive can be used. Just be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use Recovery Discs. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity. For instance if you have a 500GB hdd you could use a 750GB hdd but not a 320GB hdd.
As for whether it is possible to recover your files it depends on how much life is left in the hard drive. Many times you can remove it, attach it to a USB Adapter or install in a USB Enclosure to plug into  working machine via usb port and copy files over to the hard drive of host machine.
If you need more help selecting/replacing the hdd post back with full Model & Product Number as listed on the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop.

  • G5 wont boot i get 2 error codes

Having read quite a few posts about a similar issue as mine it seems to be a few having the same issue
My G5 wont boot at all I have looked through a fair few posts & tried all ways pressing C/cmnd+opt ETC all ways i have found on startup nothing at all worked i just get the grey screen with the apple logo & then after a couple of minutes the fans start up
I then manually opened the Disc Drive & used the disk utility on the Tiger installation disc but here the options for repairing disc permissions were all greyed out the drives were found but I could do nothing with them
I then used the Apple hardware test disc here i got 2 error codes when it got to testing mass storage the first i ran with everything still plugged in & the code i got was this
    Error Code 2STF/4/3:A (upper)
I then unplugged everything USB & firewire all i left plugged in was the keyboard with the mouse plugged into the back of the keyboard & i then got this error message
    error Code 2STF/1/4:A(upper)
I'm probably jumping the gun here but i fear that my hard drive has died & needs replacing
Is there any way i can get it to start up without having to replace the startup disc hard drive
    Thanx

    Hi Tom
You can see the HD in the disc util but the repair & verify permission buttons are greyed out
Still means its dead i suppose
Someone who knows what therye doing should be able to get the data from the HD I hope
Its all pretty much backed up as i do it once a month its the stuff new stuff i would like to get hold of
Good excuse to upgrade everything HD wise this would do the trick wouldnt it?

  • Nexus 5500 "Mezz not found" error, system wont boot

Rebooted N5548UP after software upgrade didn't go as planned and now it wont boot up stating mezz not found.    Attempting to get console access to boot the kickstart and load the image again but looking for direction if that doesn't work and what the mezz not found points to ??
A software upgrade attempt from 5.1.3 to 5.2.1 broke fiber channel connectivity so a reboot to revert back to original 5.1.3 was what got us stuck with a broken reboot for FYI.
    dave

We had the same problem on a Notebook G71.  If you can get to the BIOS, do a RAM and a Hard Drive test.  Our Hard DRive test failed and we had to get a new hard drive.  When we took the new hard drive through the Recovery phase, we still got a device missing error, not the same one as before though.  We started the process over several times and finally it found what it was looking for and is working fine now.
Search these forums, you will find a lot of good advice.  I did.

Hold the Option key down and restart. Select one of the drives that comes up and hit the Return key.

Just a guess, but try changing your RM entry to:
    Oracle_XA:xaosw:-L$(ORACLE_HOME/lib) -lclntsh

  • Pbook G4 wont boot! 'unknown error: 0' shows while installing then Kernel P

My powerbook decided not to respond anymore. I thought it could be a system error, something with system files, because i tried apple hardware test (quick and advanced) and everything was ok, the mac could even initiate with the cd installer, and i could read all drives with disk utility with all correct permissions and repairs. With another powerbook i used firewire connection and backup all files, and then made a 'erase and install' a new copy of Mac Os 10.3.7:
    the problem is:
first time, it crashed in the middle of process with a kernel panic. i was frustrated
second try, the installation finished but it wont boot again: i booted with install cd and i saw in 'system passwords' that there was no user in the system at all!
last try: while installing i opened 'install log' and these where the sentences until it crashed -
    Extracting files from (...)
    Running task: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/(...)
    Finished task: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/(...)
    Extracting files from (...)
    Running task: /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/(...)
    pax:
    could not read compressed data
    Unknown error: 0
    Finished task:/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/(..)
this was the error, it happened 3 times, in 3 distinct moments, until kernel panic appears.
simple question: what could it be? thank you

  • How do I reinstall OS X when computer wont boot up, or accept "C" command on start up.

I am missing some system files and my macbook pro wont boot up. I would reinstall OS X but it will not recognize the "C" command being held on start up, and I cannot figure out how to do it from Single User Mode. I am not worried about losing any files on the hard drive. How can I reinstall OS X?

If you cannot boot up using the disc that originally came with your computer, its possible the discs are damaged, dirty or your drive needs cleaning.  You can use a drive cleaner for that.
eplacement System Discs can be obtained from Apple's Customer Support - US (800) 767-2775 for a nominal fee. You'll need to have the model and serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html
