Start-up hang + missing optical detect

ok i got the raid going after countless tries big, big issue now is the mouse-pointer freezes if i don't grab it fast during the blue "welcom" screen when xp loads. already cleaned up startup items a bit, and got regsupreme to clean registry. tried switch between ps2 and usb ports, (using a usb mouse with adapter, no driver necc., its low budget optical) mouse is on seperate irq don't have the ken to mess with process list. ms troubleshooter not helpful.
other thing is the slave dvd plaver does not register in hardware list, there is one "yellow qquestion mark device" listed on pci o, don't know what that means, when i installed the dvds, the jumpers and cable postions were correct. so there it is... :azn:

the steps that bejon listed are all valid steps for troubleshooting since:
1. too low memory timings lead sometimes to data corruption and USB ports have a strange behaviour with some memory settings.
2. the nvidia IDE driver is known to be buggy and it is always recommended not to install it, but to keep the MS one.
@e_altro - keep in mind that you are the one seeking help and bejon just tried to help. if you didn't understand what he said, or the reasons why he said those things, just ask, because i'm pretty sure he would gladly explain it.

I'm getting an error message that says "The Printhead appears to be missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed" . A short animation plays but i can't figure out what it's tell me to do.
Please help!

After Upgrading to 10.6.8 my aperture app starts but hangs trying to read the Lib. I removed the old lib and start with new. but still have the problem. 10.6.8 also made my Shark FX7 do the same thing. Any Ideas? Thanks

Start Screen Layout missing icon

One of the program I pinned to the Start Screen is missing. The program that's missing is the Opera browser. I created a custom start screen layout with all the programs I want in different namegroups. I put the AppsFolderLayout.bin file in the Default profile.
I am preparing a Windows 8.1 image. I do this so all users can have the same Start Screen layout. The first time I did this, it worked fine. I logged in as new users in the computers and I see all the programs I pinned to the Start Screen.
Right now, I'm doing the exact thing for a new Windows 8.1 image. I placed the AppsFolderLayout.bin file in the Default profile. I logged in as a new user and many. The Start Screen is empty, other than the Desktop and Computer tiles, since it's a new
Windows install, The programs that are pinned are not installed yet. When I install the programs, the tiles will populate to the Start Screen. All of them worked, except for the Opera browser. The Opera browser is not showing the Start Screen. I made sure
the program is pinned before I exported the layout. The program is installed for all user.
I checked the program is installed when I log in as different users. I
even deleted the user profiles that was installed on and logged in again, the icon is still not there.
Would a new version of the browser cause this issue? I even installed the version I had when I first had it working and it didn't work. Let me know what would cause this issue.

Please use the command “get-startapps” in powershell.
We have tested. Every time we reinstall the Opera, the AppID will change.
The AppID is the identifier of app. If it changes automatically, the Operating System can’t customize Start screen by different AppID.
Please refer to the following article to customize Windows 8.1 start screen.

If you change the AppID in xml file to match the ID in the PC you want to customize Start screen. The Opera will show out.

Check the control_form in the driver program.Parameter which your passing for the output options is wrong check with it.

Printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed

hp officejet 6699 won't print - gives message "printhead appears to be missing, not detected or incorrectly installed." I have unplugged as instructed and that did not work. I replaced all of the cartridges and that did not work. It's over a year out of warranty and I don't know where to take it. I didn't want to have to buy a new one just yet. Is approx 2 years the life of an all-in-one now?? Can anyone tell me what to try? Thanks!

Hi pip3, Can you remember what you were doing when the error occured? Was there a specific event that triggered the message? I have uninstalled the software and re-installed it, Tried to open it as Administrator and it still hangs up with the Adobe banner (the picture) being displayed. Nothing happens. When I click on anything I get the message that Lightroom is not responding. I have asked to have a new catalog created for Lightroom 6............Please help.

It is Ideal to install Creative Cloud app , if you are using Adobe apps.
Creative Cloud is nothing but an updated version of Adobe Application manager. Adobe Application Manager is required for different purposes like Activation, Update.process and installation processes.etc
Adobe application manager must be up to date , that brings to Creative Cloud application which is the updated version .
No need to Sign in and all , just keep it install, if you are not okay with installing Creative Cloud app. it's okay , you can still have Adobe Application Manager only.

After installing Elements 11 the Quick Start tab is missing?

i installed and paid for elements 11 but now i cannot access the program. the quick start tab is missing. I cant start the program but i still have the files?

I think that the answer will end up being a complete uninstall reinstall of Premiere Elements 11 to default computer location if you have installation files or installation disc. But, please read the following first.

You say that you cannot find a desktop icon for Premiere Elements 11 after installation.
I will ask again just so that I do not take anything for granted...if you click on Start, All Programs, do you see "Adobe Premiere Elements 11" listed anywhere?
You say that you cannot find the following two files on your computer. It appears that you are using the search function of the computer to look for
Adobe Premiere Elements 11.exe
and
Adobe Premiere Elements.exe
Instead of the Search for find those files, can you take the longer route and follow the path to them folder to folder. I have Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 64 bit, not 32 bit, but I believe this will be the path to follow folder by folder clicking
Computer
Local Disk (C:)
Program Files Folder
Adobe Folder
Premiere Elements 11 Folder
and, inside the Premiere Elements 11 Folder should be the two .exe files that you seek. Scroll down line list of folders and files there to find it.
Do you find the two .exe files there?
If not, then I would suggest that you go to the Control Panel and uninstall Premiere Elements 11.
Then reinstall Premiere Elements 11, making sure that you let it install to the default location of the program.
Then look for the desktop icon and those two .exe files again to confirm that the program has installed correctly.
Please let us know the results.

Why won't firefox open? It starts then hangs around 7300k

I try to start firefox it doesn't. I check the task mgr and it show the process as open but usually stuck at around 7,300k or 1,800k. It will not start in safe mode or with extension off command either. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, run McGlary and SPybot but nothing has changed. It still wont start. About a week ago i ran McGlary and then firefox actaully started, once! But has since gone back to not starting.

I have tested with only one node and starting and stopping is much faster without any cache fusion traffic. The application is not RAC aware, it was written without regard for RAC. As you say there may be some accessing of the same block by all nodes causing RAC to remaster blocks when a node is shut down.
My concern is the length of time users are afftected when I am starting a node that has been offline for a while. With the large SGA I have, it appears users are affected adversely for several minutes, in affect causing an outage which we are trying to avoid by using RAC.

BIOS hang on IDE detection

For some reason, I am having random BIOS hangs SPECIFICALLY when the BIOS is scanning the 4th IDE Channel (sometimes as it scans to detect the Fourth IDE Master, sometimes when scanning for Fourth IDE Slave). Once it begins the auto scan of this 4th channel, it just hangs there and freezes. Also, I don't know why I'm not getting access to some other hard drive specs on the 4th channel, specifically these categories: LBA Mode, Block Mode Fast Programmed I/O modes, 32 Bit Transfer Mode. I'm at a loss at trying to figure this out. Could someone please provide me with any insight into why this may be occuring?? I have posted below detailed specs on my Motherboard settings. Absolutely unbelievable to me, but thanks to you for sharing your experience with the 3-pin fan problem. Based on that post, I again decided to dig into my power connections and cabling. I admit, I thought your comment sounded like a long shot, but was so desperate and frustrated. Guess what, I am ecstatic that I tried your suggestion.
After disconnecting the 3-pin fan off the same power connector also feeding my secondary hard drive, and reconnecting it to a different power cable with less load - here is my result. I have experienced NOT A SINGLE HANG-UP now in 3 days. I will continue to monitor this, but so far I think all is well.
My last thought: THANK YOU again for sharing your experiences all. I could not have done it without your insight, and I am grateful for forums such as these. Bejon2000, you especially helped me out tremendously, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Because of warning I received for my iTunes (it would not start up) MSVCR80dill missing, if I remove the program and reinstall will I lose the music I already had and purchased?

I am somewhat computer illiterate but I have a question. I have had iTunes for several years and never had a problem. I occassionally get prompts to update and those only take about a minute and they're done. Last week, the download could not complete even after I had tried 2 or 3 times. I just let it go thinking I would try again when I had more time. Yesterday I tried to access iTunes on my Windows 7 and got a message, " could not start iTunes, MSVCR80 dill is missing. Please reload iTunes to fix the problem. I tried several times but I continue to get the same message without iTunes coming up. I talked to a computer geek today who told me I should go to my control panel and uninstall iTunes and reinstall it. My question. I have placed many albums of music and purchased many songs from the iTunes shop which I am concerned will go missing or deleted if I uninstall and reinstall. Will I lose my library if I do this? What precautions can I take to make sure everything comes back as it was?
