Start up screen black saying cooling fan error

I recently turned my computer on and right away pops up cooling fan error. Further use might damage computer. Something along the lines as that. I've done what they told me with using canned air and blowing that through the vents. And I turned it back on and it still came on with that screen. I need some help please. I know I've owned this laptop for about 3 years or so but it's worked perfectly fine since I bought it. I really need someone to guide me on what I should do!

I saw your post regarding the cooling fan error message. If you already used canned air to clean out the fan then you next step would be to replace it. If you can provide me with your product number I should be able to find a user guide that will show you how to replace it.

Click on the blue Internet Recovery in nbar's post. That is a link to what computers can run Internet Recovery.
Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

Cooling Fan Error Message & Computer Shut Down

I have a 2 1/2 Satellite running W7 and recently started having a problem, receiving a Cooling System error message which tells me to shut down the computer immediately. I did and left it off to cool, then started it up again. Less than 5 minutes later, same message and the computer shut itself down. The fan starts normally, then becomes burdened, then stops. Is this actually fan related or hard drive related?

I already have the new BIOS you sent me. The problem persists. Toshiba has no Authorized Service for computers where I live (Brazil) as far as I can see on their site, which I can't understand since it is a global company. So, I can not use my business computer now. Apparently, I either have to ship it to the States (which will cost me more than the computer is worth, and I'm better off buying a new one of a brand that takes care of its customers globally), or I have to try and find someone here who thinks they might be able to discover the problem and fix it. Any suggestions?

Cooling fan error at start up

i have a hp g62-457dx laptop and when i turn it on, it states the fan is not working correctly, then shuts down after 15 seconds or continues to windows if you press enter. I cleaned all the air vent with compressed air and I even tried sticking a paper clip in the fan and then blowing it out but still get same mesage when i power up. how do i open the unit and check/replace the fan myself?

Since that indicates a memory problem, it would seem that would be where to start. First try to re-seat the memory modules (with the computer turned off). If that does not help, make the Ultimate Boot CD (with another computer) and then boot to it. Run the memory testing routines. MemTest will tell you which module is failing, if you read the results properly as it runs the testing routine.

My iPhone 4S powers up with a black and white striped screen then goes black. If I do a reset, it will eventually come back, work properly, and then go black again. When plugged into power, with screen set never to sleep, it works.

That's a sign of a hardware fault.
make an appointment at the genius bar and have it looked at.

Cooling fan issues

Hi I just turned on my computer and i got a message saying "cooling fan not operating properly, computer will shut down in 15 sec-don not recommend using computer it can damange files or corupt harddrive. Do i just have another cooling fan installed? how expensive are fans? and I have to use my computer i'm in school, so is it safe to continue to use and just make sure it doesn't run hot? thanks

The "cooling fan not operating properly" error appearing while booting might indicate that the Fan assembly is not working properly. So Let's try to resolve or isolate the issue, please follow the below instructions:
1.) When you get this error and before the 15 sec. countdown runs out, Press the Enter key to boot the Notebook to Windows.
2.) Open Internet Explorer webpage and go to HP Support Website.
Note: Make sure you change the Country Name at the bottom left to the Country from where the Notebook was purchased.
3.) Hover the mouse on Support option at the top center of the page and click on Download Drivers.
4.) Enter the Product# or Model# of your Notebook and click on Go.
5.) In the Download Driver page, select the Operating System of your Notebook (make sure the current Operating System installed in your Notebook is the original one shipped with the Notebook PC) and Click on Next.
6.) From the drivers listed below in the page select BIOS and download and install the latest Version.
Note: Make sure the Ac-Power Cord is connected during the BIOS update.
7.) Notebook will restart by itself to start the installation, just follow the on-screen instructions.
8.) Once the installation is done, restart the Notebook and check if the error still appears.
9.) If no error, the issue is resolved. If the issue still persists or appears again after few days or weeks then Contact HP Technical Support to get your Notebook repaired.

My Final Cut Pro X won't load past the start-up screen....Why??

I have been using FCPX for about 3 months now and I have had no problems. Out of NOWHERE today when I tried to open up FCPX it loads everything except for one project and it gets stuck. The start-up screen simply says "reading project 1". I have no idea what to do. I use FCPX everyday for editing videos and now I have nothing. I need someone's help.

Z61m fan stops after a few seconds - fan error, shutdown

while booting the fan works fine for 3-5 second, but then it suddenly stops and i get a "fan error" message and the system shuts down. i cleaned the fan and look for any obstacles - but with no success. Once (several tries) the fan start working just shortly after the fan error message appeared, but the system shutted down too.

Your first avenue of problem resolution is to get a new fan, if that don't work then the motherboard is the ultimate culprit of your problem, there is not much other way of solving your hardware problem.

I always have message "Unable to connect to ThinkPad Fan Control daemon (tpfand). Please make sure you are running this program on a supported IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad, a recent thinkpad_acpi module is loaded with fan_control=1 and tpfand has been started."

This depends on whether your Thinkpad is supported by the thinkpad_acpi kernel module. Check if the thinkpad_acpi module is loaded at all
lsmod | grep thinkpad_acpi
and if not, try to load it by hand
sudo modprobe thinkpad_acpi
If that fails, tpfand will not work with your Thinkpad.
Second command fails on my system, so I definitely can not use this software ;(

Black screen, that says USB set up error

When I started up my old 10.3 computer this morning , I have got a black screen that says down the side USB setup error 5c0000008004 , down the side,
then invalid memory access
Welcome to open Fireware, then the date.4to continue booting up type "mac-boot"
and press return.
Problem the keyboard wont allow me to type the dash symbol(always been able to before).
Have closed down and restarted the computer a few times but no luck , always the same ..........

I upgraded to latest version of mountain lion yesterday, this morning my power Mac was running extremely slowly (while typing, had to wait a second or two for words to appear), I shut down to see if problem would clear up. When starting up, screen went black with programming jargon, something about debugging with the word panic in parentheses. Screen then goes back to gray, says Mac encountered a problem and has to restart once I push a key. Apple logo comes on gray screen, icon keeps circling and nothing happens. This has happened three times in a row after shutting down and trying to restart. Any thoughts?

When verifying disk, said could not repair disk, back up as many files as possible then re format disk. Computer now doing Internet recovery. Should I. Do the following in this order
1 restore from back up on time machine
2 re install osx
