Start up screen bringing up a random email

Like many other people, to install iOS 8, I had to free up some space. To do this I decided to back up my iPhone, erase everything on it, install iOS 8 and then restore my phone.
Upon restoring, it asked me to sign into my account, which was successful, but the next screen then asked me to sign in to get hold of my previous purchases from the Appstore and iTunes. The strangest bit about this, is that it said: "Sign in to your account billybobzhou[at]gmail.com to access your recent purchases" That is not my email, nor an email I am familiar with. My iPhone isn't second hand either. Why did this strange email come up?! This has genuinely freaked me out because I've never experienced this before!
After my iPhone had restored, nothing else has changed. I'm just really concerned about this strange email that popped up.
Thank you.

I've subsequently tried a number of things. I reset the SMU, which didn't help until I also reset the PRAM. Computer booted normally. I rebooted from the Tiger DVD and repaired the start up disk; there were only two small errors to be fixed. The machine booted normally (and pretty quickly) for about a week before the problem resurfaced. I again went through the first two steps and got things working once more.
Lately the problem has returned. First, resetting the PRAM didn't help; only resetting the SMU worked. At the last event I needed to reset the PRAM without resetting the SMU. When I get home tonight I'll try booting from the DVD and repairing the permissions on the start up drive.
At first, I thought I'd leave it running all night, but when I got to the office in the morning the fans were running at full throttle and the machine was in a coma. All I could do was reboot--which it did, immediately going into kernel panic. I shut it down and rebooted, resetting the PRAM in the process. The computer booted and ran fine all day, although it seems slow (I did have Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom running simultaneously, but I do have 5 GB of RAM).
It's been suggested I may have a corrupt RAM chip (computer doesn't chirp at me, as I'm told it would) or, more terrifying, a processor is about to check out. I also have an ATTO SCSI card in this to run a legacy scanner. Could that be a problem?
Any advice?

I am experiencing some major problems with my MacBook Pro. I have had some issues with it turning on/off at random times, but today, when starting, I get the grey start-up screen and a recovery bar. After filling in approx 1/4 of the way, the machine dies. After starting it in recovery mode, it will not allow me to download OS X Mavericks- it says the disk is locked. Any ideas? I do not have a back-up and do not want to erase everything before I have explored my options. Help?

try forcing internet recover, hold 3 keys - command, option, r - you should see a spinning globe
most people will tell you to do both pram and smc resets (google) and if you still have issues, either clean install (easy) or troubleshoot (hard)

  • Why does my Ipad start changing screens and sites randomly on it's own frequently?

Why does my Ipad suddenly start changing screens and sites randomly on it's own?  It's like it spazzes out rather frequently for no apparent reson.

It's hard to say why, but try rebooting the device by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until the screen goes blank and you see the apple logo. It should take about 10-15 seconds to reboot. See if this stops it.

    Hello Sean,
It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If that does not resolve it the symptoms indicate to me that it is a hardware issue causing this to happen and would seek service for it:

  • My iPhone 5 screen starts to shake/ becomes jittery at random intervals. Is anyone else experiencing this?

My iPhone 5 screen starts to shake/ becomes jittery at random intervals. Is anyone else experiencing this? At first I thought it was the app I had currently been using but shortly after I was at my home screen and the display started shaking rapidly in and up and down motion. Any tips on fixes or experiences of other users will be greatly appreciated.

I'm getting this on my 5s. When scrolling fast i get random complete screen halts. When holding down on a scrollable portaion of a screen the screen jittes badly and then begins to hop all over the place.
Seems a bit suspicious, and more than a little disappointing.
    Any thoughts anyone?

Backup in case your disk is failing.
Start up in Safe Mode;  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14204?viewlocale=en_US
If it boots reliably in Safe Mode then it is probably a software issue.
    Reset PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
Boot in Recovery Mode.  (Hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys as your computer restarts.)  Run Disk Utility.  Click on the upper left system disk icon.  Does S.M.A.R.T. report “Verified”?  If not the disk is failing and will need to be replaced.  Click on the icon underneath and indented to the right, usually called “Macintosh HD”.  Repair Disk.  It should finish normally with a green OK message.  If it does not try to repair it again.
If it will not finish with the green OK message then use Disk Utility to erase the drive and then reinstall OS X.  (Be sure you have a backup before erasing the disk.  Post back if you need instructions on how to do that.)
If it repaired all errors and is still not booting normally, reinstall OS X.
If it is still sick after all these steps then the disk probably needs to be replaced.  You can do that inexpensively and fairly easily yourself or take it to an Apple store for them to do it for you at a higher cost.  If it is still under warranty or AppleCare have Apple do it for you for free.  Post back if you need instructions on replacing the disk.  You may want to have Apple check the health of the system and disk before replacing it yourself.

  • Passwords prompted for random eMails upon iCloud back up? Bizarre.

My iPhone was stolen several weeks ago and I considered it long gone.  However, yesterday I received a call from someone who saw my name in the "Lost my iPhone" feature with my contact information.  The guy claimed he bought it from craigslist and didn't know it was stolen until he got home and that's when he contacted me.  I'm not sure if this has anything to do with my problem but I thought I should mention it.
Awesome! I got my iPhone 6 64GB back, which I am grateful for.  HOWEVER, I tried backing up my last iCloud (WiFi) backup and immediately after entering my iCloud account and password information I am prompted to enter a password for a random email/iCloud account.  I forgot exactly what the prompt asks for, I cannot replicate the issue for you guys (you'll see why).  It was something about apps purchased the with these accounts and I have to enter the password to recover the content.  Below the prompt there is a "Skip" button and I clicked this.  Immediately after that email another icloud account is prompted and again I clicked skip.  This happened another dozen times and I gave up. Some of the emails appeared randomly generated while others seemed legit and one name appeared multiple time in different variations. The bizarre part is when I was prompted for a password for the email "[email protected]" and I then considered these were just randomly selected/generated emails. So I instead reverted to an older iTunes backup on my desktop which worked just fine but was missing a lot of my newer content.
The next day (Today) I decided to try again and after several skips I called Apple support when the FBI prompt appeared.  The support agent had no idea what was going on, as usual, not competent and just following his flow chart while I try to solve the problem my self.  While he was "finding the solution" I kept hitting the skip button and after 40 emails my iPhone finally restored and I hung up on the guy.
Cool, I solved the problem. BUT while my iPhone was restoring, downloading all of the apps, my battery started to drain.  It was taking unusually long and when I tried to view my pictures they were all white.  It usually takes about 20 minutes to restore everything. My iPhone 6 soon died and I plugged it into the outlet.  When it turned back on with 4% I started reviewing all all of my snapchats and missed instagram notifications and it died again.  I thought this was strange but considered it was because it was downloading all of my content, even though this never happened before. When it turned back on with a decent charge I started using it, it died again.  This happened 4 times.  I eventually switched lightning cables but this wasn't the problem.  The 5th or 6th time the device died and never turned back on. When I push the sleep/wake button a drained battery appears with 3 blinking red lines AND the blinking lightning cable.  I let it charge for an hour and tried powering it on but the same screen appears.  I unplugged it and attempted to hard reset it but it just powers off only to power on with the same screen.  I decided to let it die and try charging it again but it's been over an THREE HOURS and it still has NOT died. Normally if this was the case it would die in under 5 minutes of my continually powering it on. But instead the same drained battery screen appears.  Oh yeah, I updated it to the latest operating system when I restored the iTunes back up.
    What is the problem???

    Hello Richard,
it sounds like you have a lot of space being taken up in your Sent folder but are unable to successfully delete them from your iOS device. You can also delete the emails from www.icloud.com as well, since deleting a huge number of emails can be difficult on an iPhone.
    iCloud: Delete email
    Delete messages
Select one or more messages, then do any of the following:
Click the Move to Trash button in the toolbar.
If you don’t see the Move to Trash button in the toolbar, choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu , click General, then turn off “Show Archive icon in the toolbar.”
Press the Delete or Backspace key.
Drag messages to the Trash in the sidebar.
To select several adjacent messages, click the first one, then Shift-click the last one. To select multiple nonadjacent messages, Command-click them on a Mac or Control-click them on a Windows computer.
    Erase messages immediately and permanently
You can have iCloud Mail permanently and immediately erase messages when you delete them, instead of storing them in the Trash for 30 days.
Choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu  in the sidebar.
In the General pane, deselect “Move deleted messages to,” then click Done.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Can't restore my iPhone 6   from iCloud cause of some random email.

    Hello!
ENglish is not my first language so there can be mistakes. So as you have seen from up I have an iPhone 6+ and I can't restore it because of some random email. I haven't ever seen this happening or that email so I really don't know what I'm doing anymore. :/ help me guys? I tried restart iPhone when it was "on the white screen" but it still gives only that random email. I have bought LEAGALLY it, I come from Finland where I bought it.

Should be legit means here that yep it is and if it isn't something is relly wrong . I bought my iPhone 6+ from Apple Authorize Store, Verkkokauppa in Helsinki, and it is really strange that there even can be some random email when you are restoring staff from your iCloud. But as I said it there ain't any problem anymore. Thanks for the help!

  • Start up screen purple tint, won't boot, then vertical blue lines

I'm having trouble with my  macbook pro late  2011 model running maverick
When I try turning it on I get a start up screen with a purple tint then the apple logo just disappears and the entire screen is with that purple tint (see pic below, sorry if tint isn't too visible and also for the upside down pic, this pc is driving me crazy)
Then when I try booting in safe mode the screen suddenly turns to a screen with blue vertical lines as below.
Funny thing is that a few days later everything went back to normal, then a few weeks later happened again. Now third time it's happening. I also notice once or twice the fan was working hard prior to computer freezing... perhaps not related not sure.
Took it to an apple service center and they tested for 3 days and werent able to come up with solution they ordered a replacement display and in a few weeks will replace. They say if that doesn't work they'll have to replace the video card..
Anyone have any clue what this might be?
When I called Apple support they were inclined to suggest it's defective memory non apple, but I don't see that to be the case...
I'm overseas and can't bring in to apple store.. thanks

    Thank you
Where I'm currently located no local apple only a authorized service center... brought to them and they decided to order a new display panel. I have to wait two weeks til they get it then if that doesn't work they'll order a new motherboard..
They ran a series of tests on the notebook for two dates... wouldn't they have uncovered if it was memory related?

  • CS5 Start--up Screen

I WAS an Photoshop Elements user for years.  I just upgraded to CS5.  My first question relates to the start-up screen for CS5.  When CS5 opens, I don't get the same screen view as in PSE8.  In PSE8, the screen was completely full with the PSE8 startup screen that included a "gray" background where the picture being worked on is viewed.
In CS5, I don't see that same gray background. what I see is a transparent background which, in my case is my desktop. When I bring up a picture I can then fill the screen with the picture by dragging it to fill the background space.
Is there a way to get that gray background in CS5 when it starts up.  Without that gray background, it doesn't really seem like the program is open - it is very distracting

    Hi
    Have you tried this one?

  • Random Email server login failures

For the last month or so I have been having random email server login failures. This happens on my desktop and also on my smartphone, and possibly on a tablet. This is annoying because my mail program (Thunderbird) occasionally fails to start as a result. My cell phone also beeps when it fails to log into the email server, which is annoying. I am in Stuart, FL and haven't cme up with any other way to get support. Help.

I too am fed up with getting the constant run around from the Verizon support .... I even did a snail mail complaint to Verizon head quarters.... None of them respond acknowledging the problem.   They keep looking client side, when it is obvious from all these posts, it is on their server. For the money I pay every month just for Fios, I am currently investigating my local Time Warner package....

  • R6970 lightning, black screen after starting Windows screen

Alright so I've been getting a few random bsod saying something about non paged error. At first it was random sometimes in Windows sometimes before the login screen. But then it became consistent, couldn't boot to Windows at all after the starting Windows screen it would bsod everytime. So ran memtest and system repair off the disk and found no errors. So then one time I found the bsod showed an error with atikmdag so then I started to look into driver issues. Deleted catalyst, the drivers and then rebooted. Long and behold it booted Windows fine. Once I loaded Windows it said installing device driver for the graphics card, it finished and prompted a reboot. So I did but on start up after the starting Windows screen it just goes black. Will go into safe mode fine but otherwise black. And it will do that with an old driver, new driver, whether I install with catalyst or Windows does it. Switched via bios and no screen at all on any other setting than the middle switch. So grabbed a gtx 650 from my brother and plugged it in and it booted fine, installed the driver and no problems. So is my card shot or is there something I am missing? Do I have a corrupt bios and need to flash it?
Another note it ran games fine and wouldn't crash but when it was just sitting with Google Chrome and a few tabs is when it started having problems.

  • 180Gb keeps going from start up screen to black, over and over

I lost my used 180 GB classic for almost 6 months (turns out it was in my PJ drawer, who knew) and just now found it. I charged it for several hours and it was working great- Used it for a couple days...and then today I was playing one of the games, exited it, when to play a song, and it froze and shut off, showing me the Apple start up screen. I thought it was just randomly rebooting itself (my phone does that all the time), but instead it showed the apple screen for maybe 10 seconds, then went black, then went back to the apple screen, then black. It has literally been doing this for hours, no amount of resetting will change it- when I plug it into the computer all that happens is the backlight goes off and the apple screen just stays up. I can hear it humming and working really hard but...is there something else I can do??

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
As soon as the Apple logo appears hold down Select and Play. This should put the device in disk mode. You can then connect it to your computer and restore it.

  • Installed Leopard. Stuck on start-up screen. What do I do now?

I just bought my friend leopard from the apple store yesterday. I installed it on his computer this evening successfully. After the installation, it got stuck on the start up screen with the apple logo and the circle loading icon when it restarted. My friend and I waited about 20 minutes into the start up screen. So I panicked and try to reinstall it again and the same thing happened. I don't know what to do. Should leave the computer on the start up screen and wait till it does something? or Should I bring it to the Genius Bar and have them figure it out?

I had a similar problem. My system would hang on startup on the Apple logo.
My problem was that the permissions on my hard drive were set wrong.
"Everyone" was set to "none" and it should be "read only"
I connected my mac to another mac with a firewire cable so that I could access its hardrive (I booted up holding the "T" key). Once I had access to my drive, I selected "Get Info" on it and then changed the permissions on "everyone" to "read only" (I had to click the lock, then change my "owner" to my user name to make the changes then I set the "owner" back to "system")
Hopefully you have a similar problem.
