Start up solved but where has Safari gone?

I recently posted start up woe. In the end I resolved this by re-installing Panther CD1 and CD2. There I am happily back upon my desktop. Connected to the internet by Airport and downloaded a week's worth of e-mails. I have sent a test e-mail and I am plainly functioning. Now one hitch: Safari has gone on safari. It purports to open as an application in the sense that it is visually there and marked as open in the dock. But all of the options on the menu are unresponsive. I cannot open anything, I cannot type an address. I cannot click on history or bookmarks or anything. Those words are showing on screen menu but they are, as it were, dead. I cannot find a way in to make it respond. If this is something to do with re-installing, can I find a way to get it back??!!

I should add to the above that I have just checked internet explorer and all is well, so it is literally the application of safari itself and nothing to do with internet connection. It is visible on the screen but I can do nothing with it - type nothing into it etc...

Scroll down on the Notification page and there is a button at the bottom
labelled 'Edit'. Tap that button and you can add the weather back as well
as choose other things to display.

I have never had an applications icon in my dock but seeing your post I thought I would look at it. This is what happened.
From Finder > sidebar > drag applications to right side of dock (next to wate bin).
It would not accept it.
From Finder > Applications > Applications icon > drag applications icon to right side of dock. This time it was accepted but the initial applications icon of crossed pencils changed almost immediately to a blue folder with an Address book icon superimposed. Clicking on it produced applications.
Very odd!

All my music in my itunes library has vanished apart from the purchased items! It is not in the music > itunes > itunes media folder, I've searched the entire system for mp3 and nothing. Why has this happened and where has it all gone?

Where has places gone from iPhoto in the new PHOTOS now ?

I have all my Travel Pictures on places , which helps me find the exact pictures I need . Where is that gone on the new PHOTOS ?

Unfortunately, places support in Photos is almost nonexistent. The Years/Collections/Moments views (command +1) combine date & places into groupings, but you have no control over that. You can search on a place name, which may help find all the photos from a specific location, but unless you do something like create an album from those results, there isn't much Photos offers in this respect.
Also note that you can see location data but not change it, nor can you add location data to items that don't already have it.
If you want these features back, please send Apple feedback.

Designated folder for syncing photos from my DSLR camera to my iPod was moved. Where has it gone?

After installing iOS6, I noticed the folder I had designated for syncing photos from my DSLR camera to my iPod was moved. I'm under the assumption it was moved and not destroyed because the photos have remained on my iPod and I have since synced my device. Where has the folder gone?

I'm gonna punt....
When you synch, is your DSLR connected to your computer?
HINT: The camera probably shows up as a removeable disk, and your pictures are in a folder called "DCIM", or perhaps a subfolder of DCIM...

I have lost Airplay on my 2013 iMac - where has it gone

I have a 2013 iMac runnning OS X 10.9.2. I seem to have lost Airplay from the computer as I used to have an icon on the top right but it has vanished. I have an Apple TV and a BOSE Airplay speaker that I can now only use from my iPad or iPhone, but want to use the iMac. HELP

Might be corrupted status menu bar preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file to the Trash.
Empty the trash then restart your Mac.
See if the AirPlay icon is in the status menu bar.
Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on.

I've been on my icloud and my photo stream isn't on there, but it used to update them to my PC so where has it gone?

My iphone used to upload photos to my PC via icloud but recently I keep getting an error message on applephotostreams.exe has stopped working. I have been on my icloud account as suggested to reboot my photo stream but said photo stream is not on my icloud. I haven't deleted it or fiddled with any settings on my phone, PC or icloud account. Where are all my photos being stored? How has it been syncing them to my PC? I am confused, can anybody help?

Recall that photo stream only keeps photos on the cloud servers for 30 days, after which they are deleted. If on the PC you turned off photo stream and then turned it back on, you will only get photos that are currently in the stream, which may be none.
As a general rule, always sync photos to a computer (via USB to itunes or photo stream) and once on the computer, move them into a permanent folder/album.

Safari no longer shows the browser when I open it. No magnifying glass. Where has it gone?

My Father-in-law used my computer yesterday and now when I open Safari it no longer shows the magnifying glass/browser. I have tried to restore from backup and reinstalling but these do not work. It seems as though he did something to turn disable it. I know I know "ours is not to reason why.." But how do I get it back? Thanks.

You are correct, in settings I can gain access to my apparent.
What I went on to do was "reset" my app screen in settings and all my apps came back on the home pages.
I understand that we only have twelve home pages but you can make files that contain many files on the home page by superimposing file icons while in file moving mode.

Where has Safari help gone?

I recently had problems with getting help viewer to display help on a number of applications. This was cured after I was pointed at a very helpful web site and deleted various preference files and caches. So although that fixed virtually all the problems I still get nothing when I select Safari help.
Any ideas?

Help is not an application. I just searched for "help" and several of the relevant posts came up on the first page.
This is what Discussions Help says:

Sounds that you previously had the about:newtab page when you opened Firefox and this now has changed to a Facebook page.
You can check the startup setting:
*Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts"
*"Show my home page"
You will have to set the home page to about:newtab to gt the page with recently visited websites.

Where has UMC_CALMONTH_TO_FISCPER gone?

In 3.5, I often use the standard function <b>UMC_CALMONTH_TO_FISCPER</b> to convert a calendar month to a fiscal period.
In 7.0, I do not find that function anymore in the repository (not in SE37 nor SE80). Incredible? Does someone know where it has gone?

OC4J 11g download / where has oc4jadmin gone?

I know there is a 11g OC4J Technology preview somewhere on OTN, as I have managed to download it a while back. However currently I can't seem to find the location where to download it anymore. Can somebody point me in the right direction?
Secondly, in the OC4J11g home page - when started, the link into OC4J admin has gone. Is there some other way to access oc4jadmin via web, or can/should I only use commandline utilities?

OC4J 11 Technology Preview does not have a Web Console for the moment so all administration tasks/deployment must be done using command line/file.
