Start Up Sound Gli
Hi All
I have a Creative SB Audigy 2 and I just updated the drivers. However now when I boot up my computer when it gets to the windows startup sound it plays part of the sound, then pauses then plays the remainder of the sound at an extremely high volume. Why does it do that? How can I fix it's I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall the drivers several times already and it keeps on doing it. One time it restarted and the sound played find but upon succesi've start ups <EM>the Glitch</EM> has come back.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Mountain Lion or Mavericks
OS X Mavericks- Reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet
if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Start Navigation sound in Windows 7 64 bit dissappeared
? [size="">I have been scratching my head over this one.
[size="">After doing a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit on a new build this week, and installing a new X-Fi PCIe Titanium Fatality Pro, I found the start navigation windows sound was no longer there - I am talking about the brief sound you hear, that sounds like a click, when you click a link, double click a folder to open , etc. I could find the sound in windows sounds, but when I pressed test I could not hear it.
[size="">
[size="">After much trial and error, I discovered that I had to disable sound blaster enhancements, in the properties tab for speakers in the sound card settings. I now have that windows sound back.
[size="">When I enable sound blaster enhancements, it goes away, when I disable them, it is back to normal.
[size="">
[size="">Is this normal or unique to me?Wow, that fixed? my problem also by disabling soundblaster enhancements. How were you able to figure that one out? I was trying to figure it'sout also many months ago when I first got windows 7 beta and couldn't do it. Anyway,
Seems like most people don't like this start navigation sound, but I do.
I don't like the fact of having to disable soundblaster enhancements also.
Have you noticed that if you change the windows theme to something else it will actually work? -
When I went to turn the desktop on, the start up sound came on. Then the screen was white with an icon flashing. The icon is a file folder with a question mark on it. I cannot get it to fully turn on. HELP
Run a disk repair tool on the hard disk or install a new OS.

this problem started last fall after upgrading to Mavericks. If I shut down my computer (or restart) I have problems getting it going again. This is getting progressively worse. I hadn't shut down in over a month, forgot about this issue and shut down (which I used to do daily), so now I can't get my computer to boot. When I hit the power button I hear it starting, then a loud alarm sounds, then a long pause then start up sound with a gray screen with a progress bar. Once the progress bar fills, the screen goes black again for a bit. This whole process will repeat until I get frustrated and force - shut down by holding the power button. I have tried reseting the pram, starting up in safe mode, starting up with the command - R, starting up with my original install disc... none of it works. I'm at a loss! I do have an external hard drive that I have been using for Time Machine, but it's not recent because the disc needs repairs and I hadn't gotten around to buying a new HD to back up to first. Has anyone else had this problem? I really can't afford a big repair/replacement bill.
A long, steady, load tone followed by a progress bar can indicate it is trying to install a Firmware Update. Any other Tones would be multiple beeps and show an error code.

You can also see a progress bar similar to booting into Safe Mode. However, the firmware update bar is thinner vertically than the Safe Mode bar.

Either way, I would say something is wrong and it would be better evaluated at an Apple Store as Kappy points out. -

Hello I got a iPad mini in January and the speakers have starting to sound like they are not working propyl can you help thank you
Hi antony136,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you are not able to hear clearly through your iPad mini speakers, start with the troubleshooting steps in this article:
iOS: Can't hear through the receiver or speakers
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1630
Note that some steps refer to troubleshooting on an iPhone, but the steps can help with an iPad mini as well.

Is there a way to shut off the start-up sound?
how do I turn off the start-up sound that plays when I turn on my macbook?
Try downloading Psst from www.macupdate.com. There is also another, called something like startupchime.prefpane or something like that. Look around macupdate using words like chime and startup chime, and you'll find a way.

Video started to sound awful when i've updated to iOS6, how can this be fix?
Hi,
Ever sine i've updated to iOS6 this October, the sound of my videos on my iPad started to sound awful. I'm using the default video player for iPad. It sounds like there's an echo, bass sounds has totally low quality and etc.
I tried removing the videos(music video) on my iPad then resync it but it still sounds different from before. I've tested the sounds in my mp3 (same song) still sounds as expected. So my sound setting and my headset are not defective.
Please teach me how can i fix this issue.
ThanksWhat app are you using?
Do you get sound from the YourTube app
From other website?
I suspect a problem with the specific site you are using, not an iPod problem. Can you post a link to that site? -
How can I disable start up sound?
how can I disable start up sound?
Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
http://www.silvermac.com/2006/mac-os-x-start-up-sound-volume-control/
It's a preference pane control that allows you to adjust the volume of the startup sound or disable it completely.
Hope this helps!

My imac turns on with start up sound then nothing else just the timer going round
my imac turns on with start up sound then nothing else just the timer going round
Try restarting holding down the SHIFT key. That will do a directory check in Safe mode. It will take longer to start so continue to be patient.
If it starts in Safe mode, then restart normally and see how that goes. -
Macbook without start up sound
Good morning everyone.
I´ll tell you a little about my problem. I have a macbook 13" mid 2010 mod A1342. Last week, after cleaning with a cleaning foam for PC´s, I think i used so much foam into the keyboard, because i started up and wont start, i let pass time and tried to start up, it started but some keys was in dead short, and the laptop turns off, i cleaned again with fairly isopropyl alcohol in the entire surface and the back of the keyboard, i wait for it to dry for 2 days and the in tried again, the mac start and works fine without pushing any key, but some key was making dead short, i was using my iphone as a wireless keyboard the trackpad works fine.
Consulting with an apple tech center they pdiagnosed the keyboard probably was in dead short and but i have to left them to a entire diagnose.
I buy the piece(upper case) and i replaced by my self (i´m a desktop support techinician for mac and windows), the macbook works fine again with all the keys including mutimedia keys. but the start up sound was gone, now the sound is very low, the speakers works fine i probe it whit de audio midi config. app, i disconnect the speaker off the board, the spearkers of the keyboard works fine but with a very low sound, when i put a headphone or an external speakers the soud works very fine and with a hig volume.
Due to the constant reebots without turn off properly, the volume(image) of the mac was corrupt, i´ve tried to repair it with the Disc Utility app but the volume was very damaged, i tried to reinstall preserving my files but there´s no oprtion for that , the only option was a clean installation. i think a clean installation fix the trouble, but the sound was the same, after installing all the updates to this day, the result was the same. In the information menu displays onboard sound, in the prefs pane the output have onboard sound to play sounds, i configured into the audio and midi app the stereo option, bunt the sound is still low.
I don´t think the problem was the logic, beacuse it plays sound into headphones and the internal speaker and the keybooard speaker, the problem is only the startup sound gone and the level of the sound is very low (sound like a cell phone). i tried to reset the PRAM, in the faqs apple say that i have to hear 2 startups sounds and the i have to realease the pushed keys, but in my case there´s no sound, the laptop restart as they say, but without sound, i´m not sure if the PRAM was restored or not, i push the keys (cmd+op+p+r) turn the MB it try to start the a little bit reboot by it self, tyr to start, again reboot by it self, but without sound, if i keep pushing the keys the procees won´t stop, if i release the keys the macbook start fine(without sound), but i not sure if the PRAM was restored.
I hope anyone can help me.i also got this kind of problem recently. i was connected to a speaker n the start up sound just didnt come out till i plugged out the speaker jack. this happen after i finished reinstalling my mac os x (snow leopard) including the updates. the condition worsen by having a delay when i started up my mbp for the 3rd or 4th times. the screen just black n i got a delay for 3 to 4 seconds till finally i heard the start up sound back n see the apple logo n the loading gear came out. i later restarted the mbp again to see whether the same problem occurs bt somehow it didnt. weird things happen to my mbp these days.. what should i do? any suggestion? :O

How can I turn off Start up Sound?
How can I turn off the start up sound, on both my 10.7.5 iMac 24" Late 2006 and my 10.8.3 iMac 27" Late 2009 Mountain Lion.
Plus my Superdrive has stopped working on both Computers. Please help asap.
With kind regards, and many thanks. The best way to turn off the startup sound is to mute speakers before turning off your computer.
Also, apps that help you turn off the startup sound don't work with iMacs. There's a command that will allow you to turn it off without muting your speakers. See > http://osxdaily.com/2012/11/04/disable-mac-boot-chime/ -
The Start up sound - shutting it of?
Hi!
I've got a MacBook and I really want to know how to cancel the start up sound. You know, you turn the power on, the screen is lit, you hear som mechanic noises from the machine waking up and then Boom the starting sound of Doom let's everyone know Jakob has just turned his notebook on. Mostly irritating and a bit embarrassing when sitting in a quiet study hall.
Have a good one
Jakob
(oh and turning the sound all the way down doesn't help)Cheers mate
