Start up speed

Hi,
I am not 100% happy with my almost new MBP...frankly I think my 3 year old Dell Windows laptop was faster.
I just did a full erase and install, and things seem to have improved...I didn't install the keyboard firmware update, and so far don't seem to have the ELP problem, and the spinning colour wheel isn't as common as it was after I installed 10.5.2/keyboard update last time (this time I installed OS X and all updates, then re-installed my software).
I know it depends on your personal config and software installed, but out of interest, can I ask how long your MBP take to get to the login prompt from pressing the on button, and then how long once you click login to the finder being up...mine takes about 35 seconds to login, then 15 seconds to being ready to do something.

Mine's very close...35 secs to login screen, 13 until login seems finished. (2.4 GHz core 2 duo with 2 GB ram and 160 G hard drive.
Time after login is especially sensitive to apps that you have selected to load at login, menu bar items, etc.

Hi community, i am using i phone 5, i was highly satisfied with that one, With Fast speed and good network and wifi coverage,
never had any issue. since i am using ios7.

* i deleted my all data freed my memory 5.5 gb after update still its very slow.
* reset ed multiple time even by iTunes and i cloud, but nothing works
* i backup-ed data on i cloud and while restoring its taking more than 2 days just to restoring my all data.
meanwhile my iphone 5, 16gb is now became bunch of problems
please apple i dont want to loose my device please help me out plz fix these bugs i tried every diagnosis step nothing have been solved.

Music on my iPhone 5s starts, stops, speeds up and skips seemingly at random.

Randomly my iphone 5s (ios 8.1.3) starts playing music. Also when I am listening to any sort of audio (podcast, music or a phone call), my iphone audio randomly stops, skips and speeds up. I can be on a phone call and the phone call gets ended and music starts.
I've restarted, reset setting and cleaned my headphone jack and used various headphone and still have the issue.
Any suggestions are appreciated

Is the Music app on your iPhone the only application that is behaving erratically? If so, I would suggest backing up your iPhone, deleting all of the music and podcasts, and then re-downloading just a few songs that you've already purchased to monitor the behavior. If the issue persists, you may need to restore the iOS, since Music is a part of the iPhone's operating system. Here are some resources that will explain the steps in more detail:

Tap Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage to see the amount of space each app and its content takes on your device.
Tap an app for more detailed information about its usage.
Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of the app's content, or delete the app and all of its content.
When you tap on the Music App, and tap Edit in the top right corner, You will see a red dot to the left of All Songs. Tapping on that will remove all of the music from your iPhone.

Unusually slow start-up speed??????

My iMac 20" is up-to-date with all the current downloads, and I have downloaded the firmware updates and everything ran fine. Recently though I downloaded Boot-Camp and I tried that and I erased everything that had to do with Windows and ever since that my start-up has taken like 50 sec. compared to 23 sec. startup before boot-camp. What is the problem? How can I fix it?

Can't even get started in Speed Grade

Must be my own ignorance but I can't even see thumbnails in Speed Grade. All I see are empty boxes representing the clips that I think I have loaded (see screen grab). Am I supposed to be able to load video files directly from a hard drive or do they have to be in a Premiere project first? The instructions from Adobe are less than clear to me. Thanks.

As Dennis noted above, the .MTS format is not supported in SpeedGrade. That's why no thumbnail images are displaying from this files.
If the video file is a supported format, you can load it onto the SpeedGrade timeline. Either double-click the file, or drag it onto the Timeline.
You can load files from anywhere in your system (fast drives and connections recommended, of course). Just navigate to the location using the file tree on the left.
Final thing to bear in mind: there is a dropdown menu in the top of the media browser (slightly to the right of the middle) which lets you choose whether to show only the files in the current folder, or all the files in the subfolders as well.

How do I improve start up speed?

Recently, I have noticed that my macbook pro seems to initially boot up (from being turned off) slower than it used to. I have only had my MBP for about six months, if that. Does anyone have any suggestions? The only thing added to it is music in Itunes, ONYX, and Mozilla Firefox. I play around with garageband as well. I have an intel core 2 duo 2.33 ghz processor with 2 gb of ram, so I do not think it is a hardware issue.

You can do without the Microsoft stuff for bootup. The iTunes helper shouldn't change your bootup speed. Those three things are things you don't need and removing them won't screw up your computer. So, if you want to, disable all of them and see if that helps your MBP boot up quicker.

Start up speed at Satellite A300-1F0

I have recently purchased an A300 1F0 and everything runs perfectly except the starting up.
It takes +/- 2 min 30 to reach the login screen.
Question:
is there anyone with the same problem?
Or does anyone know how to resolve this?

At first I must say that this is not problem. I really dont understand why people define everything what they dont like as a problem. Call it . situation or maybe issue. But it is definitely not the problem.

Besides being snappier in all operations, the start-up time has improved dramatically. After launching, v1 took several minutes before it was ready to work; v1.1 takes only a few seconds.

Lee Jay, I think that it is unfortunate that, as a beta tester, you seem to have been exposed to so few of the LightRoom 1.0 performance issues :-)

Serious start-up speed issues...

Any idea why my 6 year old STOCK Dell laptop is faster at starting up than my 6 month old FULLY LOADED MacBook Pro? All of the sudden, I boot it up and it takes nearly 30 min to get to the login screen, then another 30 min to get to where anything is workable on the desktop. I've already had a hard drive replacement just a few weeks ago due to a faulty hard drive, so this only is practically brand new. Plus, I have only used about 70GB of the 120GB on it.

I have exactly the same problem. I have a MacBook Pro, barely a month old, with hardly anything on it yet. The one main thing that have added to it, is a windows portion as it was necessary for a work program. The windows portion is only 15GB and only has one program on it which is a sound effects thing. Mac was starting up fine up until a week or so ago, when I noticed that it was taking longer and longer to get anywhere, to the point where today I switched it on, left it for 40 minutes, and it still hadn't reached the login screen.
I had thought that it could be to do with windows, but I'm slightly relieved (though only a tiny amount!) to hear that others have had this problem. Is there anything I can do?! I'm having to use windows for everything at the moment, and that sort of defeats the point of having a Mac OS.

Slow start-up speed

I have a powerbook g4 867 with 640MB ram, and it seems to be booting slowly. I read on one of the apple manuals that there is a way of stopping or disabling the ram check from where the computer is first turned on. Problem is, I read the article a long time ago and have lost the link. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks a lot

there is a chip on logic board that does quick hardware test with each restart - it take a just a few seconds and cannot be disabled.
when you hear startup chime it means all tests passed, in case of error it would beep with no video on screen.
sometimes failing hard drives make system appear slow, maybe boot from hardware test CD and run the test just in case, or boot from OS install CD and run drive check from Disk Utility.

Old MB (equivalent of 13" MBP) Slowed start up speed.

Hi guys, I have the late 2008 Aluminium Unibody 13" Macbook, which is the same as the more expensive 13" MacBook Pro. You can see it's specs below. Anyway, recently I noticed that it has slowed down on startup. After the chime, the Apple logo will pop up, followed by a loading sign beneath it a few seconds later. This never used to happen. It used to startup in about 40-45 secs now it's closer to 55-60 which is a fairly large rise. If my MacBook was a PC, I wouldn't be worried, but since it's a MacBook and since I love it so very much, I am slightly worried. Has anyone got any similar experiences or any fixes?

Open "Font Book" in your Apps folder, wait for the 'All' list to populate. If you see any font names with a black bullet point to the right, that is a duplicate font. At this point you can click any font name in the list, then 'select all' there is a 'resolve duplicates' from the edit window, this should happen quickly. Log-out or restart.

Help with render settings in Speed Grade

Ok, I have been using Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator for a while and have a good work flow using them. Now I want to add production value to my work. I just started using Speed Grade a few days ago and I am impressed with what it can do. I need help. Here is my problem: Creating a usable render.
My work flow:
All my footage is shot on Canon 7D cameras at 23.976 1080p
I import my footage to Premeire Pro and edit my sequences
I then export my combined sequences to either: H.264 for bluray or Mpeg 2 for DVD
I then create a Disc Menu ect in Encore and export as a Disc Image and burn my discs
What I would like to do is add Spped grade coloring in my work flow.
I know how to export my edited sequences in Pre Pro for Speed Grade (SG). But After I get the sequences to SG: how and what settings should I use to render out and then go to Encore to create my Disc Images?
Every rednering setting I use has not worked. Both Quick Time and Microsoft Media Player say they can not play the files I render out.
What is the best way to do this? Thank you.

Thank you for the reply. I will give that a try. But, I do find Speedgrade's render options rather confusing. What if I make a project in After Effects, let's say a time lapse and after I've built my project and timed my shots to a sound track ect. I want to improve the color in speedgrade. After applying my color correction in SP how would I ecport it to be playable on QuickTime or Windows Media player?

Nokia E61/Speed Dial - Invalid number error

I have synchronized with my outlook to pull my contacts into the phone. I can dial out of the contacts just fine but when I try to assign one to a speed dial button I get an "invalid number" error. If I create a new contact, it works when I assign it but not when I used one pulled in from my Outlook contacts. Any ideas?

I just noticed something similar to this problem on my E65.
If I assign a number to my SpeedDial (eg. +61-3-9999-9999) it will work if I use the hard key button to invoke the speed dial.
But if I start the Speed Dial application and use that interface on the GUI to call the interface the E65 complains "Invalid Phone Number".
It is strange the the hard-key speed-dial will work, yet the application interface doesn't.
Any suggestions?

I just started learning Speed Grade. I have a Basic Movie In Premiere Pro with few Adjustment Layers, and I have choose: Direct Link To Adobe Speed Grade.
while working in Speed Grade It did Crashed many times. I have a new computer with 16 Gig of Ram, with a good Graphic Card.
the Error message only showed: Speed Grade Stopped Working.

My current Driver Version was 335.23, And I noticed there is a new update 337.88 that I just updated.
regarding Shift-Alt-Delete Crashing, It did crashed on other occasions only when I was playing with the colors.
I am going to watch very carefully to see if It crashes next time on what occasion.
UPDATED:
It did crashed while clinking on the Undo arrow.
Dose the Undo arrow works like other adobe programs for example can you undo like 10 times ?

It did crashed again while Holding Asterisk Key * and also Holding Slash Key / from the Num- Pad of key-board
I noticed while Holding the Asterisk Key * it changes the FPS so you can watch your footage faster and Holding Slash key /
from the Num-Pad It reduces the FPS
