Start x11vnc -- X uses 100% cpu load

Hi.
I switched to arch64 and today I first used x11vnc and it is extremly slow. First I thought about the proxied connection but after looking into top I found X is using 100% cpu load. With arch32 everything worked as normal. Don't know whats the problem - any advices?
Regard, Andreas

Hmmm, I switched from official nvidia driver to xf86-video-nv and now works much better. I'll try it again with nvidia but not today...

  • Colsvrcore.exe using 100% cpu load - how to debug ?

    Hi,
I'm new to Zenworks and facing a high load issue on one of my Collection Servers.
Colsvrcore.exe goes 100% load after 30 sec and stays there.
My question is: How can i debug on this issue ?. I was thinking bad data or something could lead to this high load.

When I log in to EM, I can see section
    Host CPU
    It is 100%.
I have only instance named "parama". and it uses 1% CPU ant the picture shows that 99% CPU is used By Other.
What is Other? Why does it use that much CPU?
I had another oracle instance few months ago, but I is not used now (it is not even started).
How do I restore normal system performance?
    Can I kill these processes?

    Hello,
I have a similar problem. I see 2 perl processes related to Oracle that are taking up 99% of 2 cpus. These 2 perl processes have been running for days and keeping the load average high (above 2) on a mostly idle system.
The 2 perl processes are running:
    /oracle/app/product/10.2.0/db_1/perl/bin/perl /oracle/app/product/10.2.0/db_1/sysman/admin/scripts/db/dbarchfull.pl
    and

  • ITunes will uses 100% cpu and will not close in OSX Lion

When I start up iTunes, after a few minutes, the fan kicks on and Activity Monitor shows that it is using 100% CPU. The fan kicks up and the MBP gets warm. I have to force close to get it to shut down. iTunes match is constantly running, so maybe that has something to do with it?
I'm not running it in Mini Player mode or anything like that, so I'm not sure what's causing the problem. Any thoughts on how to diagnose it?

I also have this problem which has been getting worse with recent successive updates of Firefox. As a long-time user and advocate, I am about ready to look for an alternative browser. Firefox will not close and exit properly, requiring direct cancellation through Task Manager; starts up very slowly (often 1 to 2 minutes); and frequently locks up the CPU with 100% of cycles while doing NOTHING; offers to restart crashed sessions, but cannot recover and reload those sessions; will not operate correctly while any other application accesses the internet, like uTorrent. Firefox is set to delete cookies, etc. whenever the session closes, sqlite database is vacuumed regularly, CCleaner regularly wipes remaining accretions, and disk is defragged. Currently running 3.5.5 but will NOT upgrade until this problem is solved since later builds report the same problems. I know several other users who have experienced the same problem and I can no longer automatically recommend Firefox to users and clients. Is anybody paying any attention to this problem? What is being done to address this fault? Why is there no response to the original poster? Is this really a support forum or just a way to preoccupy and distract the users who suffer this malfunction? Wireless 54Mbps connection. No Adobe Flash, QuickTime, MS Silverlight, etc. installed on this machine. Firefox 3.5.5 with the following add-ons:

  • 100% CPU load but no clue in thread dump, EP. Win a bottle of champagne...

    Hi,
We are suddenly facing 100% CPU load in our EP cluster (5 x 8-way Xeon multiprocessor machines). We have a serious performance problem that is burning a lot of our time and causes a lot of stress for over 3 weeks now.
We have taken tens of thread dumps from Application Nodes.
    - In none of the thread dumps we see the Finalizer thread
    running.
    - From the garbage collector log we see that full garbage
collection runs occur very rarily (once an hour).
    - We use the compacting garbage collector.
    - In a lot of thread dumps we do not even see our own portal code in the stack traces of the threads!
    - In Windows Task Manager we see the jlaunch.exe processes
    consume all available CPU time.
    - Portal users see a blank portal page when the CPU load hits 100%. When the load goes down again, things return to normal.
    - There are no errors logged in any of the log files of the portal. We checked all of them. We expected a log full of errors somewhere but nothing even remotely interesting was found. Windows Event Viewer shows nothing either.
    - The amount of sockets in CLOSE_WAIT status is < 10 on every machine in the cluster.
This forces me to conclude that something in the jlaunch.exe executable consumes the CPU time. This raises the following 3 questions:
    - What does the mystifying jlaunch.exe do besides executing java.exe ?
    - Why is the Java virtual machine launched by a custom executable like jlaunch (What is it that cannot be program med in Java) ? Can it be GZip compression ?
    - If the problem is not caused by jlaunch.exe, then it must be caused by the JVM. What activity, invisible in thread dumps, is performed by the JVM that can cause the high CPU load ?
Our development- and support teams are desperate. All suggestions are welcome. The person that comes up with
the solution to our problem gets a nice bottle of champagne.
    Regards,
    Chris Twigt

    Hi,
    - What does the mystifying jlaunch.exe do besides executing java.exe ?
This is so that the startupframework can connect more easily and take control of the JVM in some situations
    - Why is the Java virtual machine launched by a custom executable like jlaunch (What is it that cannot be program med in Java) ?
I assume when SAP release their JVM (in the next major release), that will be called directly.
    - If the problem is not caused by jlaunch.exe, then it must be caused by the JVM. What activity, invisible in thread dumps, is performed by the JVM that can cause the high CPU load ?
Loads of thing, but there should be clues in the thread dumps.  (the reason why your code is not in those thread dumps is that your code is only active during the processing of a particular request, unless you have a service, afterwards there are no trace of it as the thread which does the processing goes back to sleep)
I've experienced a similar situation with a an 6.40 portal, and it was then caused by the following:
    1. User A comes logs in and sees that some cache timeout has occured , therefore it issues a SQL query which does a full table scan on a table of approx. 1 GB (on of the UME tables)
    2. User B comes in just afterwards and also sees that the cache timeout has occured, and issues the same SQL query as User A
    3. User C .... and so on untill the query from User A eventually finishes
    So
    1. Check database. Any big queries running ?
    2. Check file activity, are there a lot of writing ?
    3. Check network activity, especially to the state controller which is the weakest link
    4. What about portal logs ? Any activity during the hang ?
Also, please provide one of the thread dumps for further analysis..
    cheers
    Dagfinn

  • Update 3.6.17 to 4.01 fails on add-on sequence (100% CPU load)

When updating Firefox 3.6.17 to 4.01 the update process fails in the add on updating phase (loses activity). Afterwards starting Firefox results in close to 100% CPU-load and no progress at all.
Since FF 4 no longer provides for a safe mode start, I can not check a FF4 start-up without his add ons. And removing the addon before the update was never required in Firefox before.
I noticed that the Microsoft NET Framework assistant 1.2.1 in FF3.6 is replaced by version 0.0.0. for FF 4 (looks for 3.5 SP1). Perhaps this MS jump in version is the root of this problem?
Extra: either disabling the NET Framework assistant, or moving to the addon to version 1.2.2. before updating solves this problem. Maybe this is not an addon problem after all, but FF4 instead?

  • Xcode using 100% cpu even with no projects open:  Solution

    Symptom:
I had a very strange problem with Xcode 3.2.1 on Snow Leopard 10.6.2. As soon as I opened a project, Xcode would start using 100% of the cpu. It would continue doing this even after I closed ALL open projects. Xcode was using 100% cpu (200% actually) even while idle! Xcode would also often hang. I tried deleting Xcode and reinstalling twice. That didn't help. After much searching and trial and error I discovered the problem and the solution:
    Problem:
I had an SCM entry defined from a previous remote site session in the SCM tab of the Xcode preferences. This site was no longer responding to requests, and apparently Xcode was continually trying to connect. Apparently the preferences were saved across the uninstall even though I used the shell script to uninstall all the developer tools.
    Solution:
Delete the unavailable repository from the SCM tab in Xcode preferences.
I hope this saves someone the aggravation this problem has caused me.

  • Solution: iTunes 10.5 using 100% CPU / Not backing up your iPhone.

This solution has been documented on this forum by several people, but the solution is usually deep in multiple threads.  I really don't know who came up with it first, but it does indeed work.
I had an issue with iTunes.exe, APSDaemon, and AppleMobileDeviceHelper.exe using 100% CPU per core.  (Showed as 25% in Task Manager.)
I could not backup my iPhone and the CPU spike happened as soon as iTunes 10.5 was started on Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
    This solved it.
    Sounds stupid but works:
    1. Quit iTunes.
    2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click "Command Prompt" -> "Run as Administrator")
    3. Once in the command prompt, type "netsh winsock reset" and hit ENTER.
    4. Reboot your machine.
    5. Restart iTunes.
    6. ???
    7. Profit!

The netsh winsock reset resolved both the problem of AppleMobileDeviceService.exe using 100% of my CPU and the blank iTunes blank store issue.
XP Pro user here that had gone through the detailed step-by-step process of uninstalling iTunes as described on the support page but both problems still existed.
    Glad I saw this. Thanks.
    Now on to :

  • Airport using 100% cpu on 20" Core 2 Duo iMac.

My 10.4.8 C2Duo 20"iMac has this strange problem with the airport. I have it connected to a linksys router.
Every now and again, especially after waking up from a sleep I notice that the iMac is running a little slowly. When I then go into activity viewer to analyse the problem. I can see that the "airport" process is using 100% cpu, i.e. one of the cores. It seems to be in a loop of some sort.
When i force quit it, the iMac speed returns to normal and wireless connectivity is not dropped or affected in any way
Anyone seen this? Any ideas? Its strange, and irritating.

    Start with this:
Open System Preferences, select the Network pane and select AirPort in the "Show:" popup menu.
Set the "By default, join:" popup menu to "Preferred networks."
Delete the listed preferred networks using the "-" button but this time we did not add it back again with the "+" button as Apple recommends.
Set the "By default, join:" popup menu to "Automatic."
    Restart.
Manually rejoin the AirPort network using the AirPort menu icon, i.e. selecting the network (or selecting "Other" and typing in the network name if hidden) and typing in the WPA (or WEP) password.
If you are using the Checkpoint Secure Client software, then you need to uninstall it.

  • Internet browsing uses 100% cpu

    Hello everybody.
This situation has driven me crazy the last 4 months and till now i have not figure it out.
Everytime i have a video streaming in my computer, CPU usage goes to 100%. It happens every time, either using internet explorer or Firefox or Google chrome. Even when i have a skype video call or a gtalk video call. Some description of each one:
Using internet explorer: While i am watching a youtube video, CPU limits up to 100% after 1 minute or sometime 5 minutes. I am not able to watch a 15min video. Internet explorer process uses 100%CPU. When i kill it via task manager, another instance of IE
appears with the same CPU usage. I also kill it and then 4 or 5 instances of rundll32.exe appear consuming 100CPU. If i kill them, explorer.exe uses 100% of cpu. If i do nothing and just wait, CPU is 100% for two hours. If i just kill only IE instances, taskmngr.exe
is consuming 40-50% of CPU for 1-2 minutes, then other processes like conhost or csrss consumes the same amount of CPU and after 4-5 minutes everything comes back to normal. That's the story everytime i use IE 11.0.9600.16518
Using Firefox: While video streaming, flash player process consumes all CPU. When i kill it, the same behaviour described above occurs.
Using Google Chrome: When i run it, 5-6 instances of google chrome appear in task manager and after some time this browser also hungs with 100CPU.
All above are also happening while i run Skype either i have a video call or just text messaging. Sometimes svchost is 25-30 % and system hungs.
Operating system is Windows 7 home premium 64bit with SP1, my graphics card is NVidia Gforce GT 230M (latest drivers 20% when these situations occur, my system is extremely slow and whatever i do, it limits up CPU usage.
Any assistance is acceptable.  Thanks for the patience.

    Hi,
First, I would suggest that you reduce the hardware acceleration on the computer and check if it helps.
    a. Open Screen Resolution by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under Appearance and Personalization, clicking Adjust screen resolution.
    b. Click Advanced Settings, click the Troubleshoot tab, and then click Change settings.
    c. Note that some video card drivers do not permit you to change settings.
    d. Move the Hardware acceleration slider toward None to reduce or turn off video hardware acceleration.
This issue can be caused by confliction from one of the background programs or add-ons.
You may use Process explorer as Milos mentioned to find the root cause to fix the issue:
    Process explorer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx
You can follow the references below to troubleshoot the issue:
    1. 3RD part app: Remove to check the issue
    2. Drivers: Update or install compatible version
    3. System process/service: Upload the log file for analyzing.
I also would like to suggest you use Windows Performance Recorder to check the issue:

    Hope it helps.

  • Apple Mail client (version 8.0) using 100%+ CPU upon using mail drop (13" R-MBP running Yosemite 10.10)

    Hello Support Community,
I am having quite the interesting issue. I have read plenty of reports where users' Apple Mail app is using 100% of CPU. This did not start for me until I went to go use the new mail drop feature in Yosemite. I am running Yosemite (10.10) on my 13" Retina - MacBook Pro (flash storage, 8GB RAM, 2.4 dual-core Intel i5) and my Apple mail is version 8.0. I have tried 3 different mail services (2 gmail accounts and iCloud), all result in the same issue. I have also done a complete erase of the hard disk and a brand new install of Yosemite, the issue persists.
As previously stated my mail app is using 100% upon, and only while, using the mail drop feature. If I force quit the mail app and allow it a minute, the mail app returns to using less than 1% of the CPU and the app and entire system resume normal function. Upon attempting to resend the same message that is placed in my outbox the CPU usage jumps to 50-80%. After a few seconds, the CPU usage will sometimes jump higher than 100%, ranging from 130% - 199%. All of these observations were made using Activity Monitor. Of course you can see my frustration, an app using this much CPU stops every process my Mac is doing (using safari, messages, iTunes etc.) - the whole computer locks up. Even force quitting is a difficult process to attempt.
Does anyone have a fix for this? I am at a loss and have no idea what to do. I am a pretty tech savvy guy and have tried everything that I would've thought would fix this. Is there anyway this could be a hardware issue? I don't think so but... all possibilities need to be taken into consideration, even though that one seems outlandish. Upon creating a new user account with a separate user library (but same system library) I figured the OS was the problem. I can't narrow it down to being a specific mail provider, and it can't be my OS since I have now erased and reinstalled 10.10 twice. Thank you!

I have this same issue.  It has been driving me insane, Mac Mail uses 100% CPU most of the time I use it, after every time I open the machine, or after a sleep or even mostly after a screen saver has locked me out.  It normally settles down after 5-15 minutes, but then happens every time again.  It is killing my battery.

A lsnrctl services shows 2 current
    Service "ARG_DV8XDB" has 1 instance(s).
Instance "ARG_DV8", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    Handler(s):
    "D000" established:58903 refused:0 current:2 max:2046 state:ready
    DISPATCHER <machine: leo, pid: 5672>
    (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=leo.argenta.be)(PORT=53044))
Stop and start of the listener doesn't solve this problem but killing the unix process will do. When I killed the D000 proces a new dispatcher is started (does pmon do this?) and the current shows 0. This workaround is fine on the DVL machine but no sollution on a production DB :-)
    Kind regards,

By the way... you just could be unlucky hitting a very rare situation that caused the phenomenon decribed by you. Deamon processes also could arise due too standard JDBC, ODBC or other connection methods. As long as you don't provide Oracle Support with a SR, you will not know if it is actually XDB related or not.
If I would implement XDB functionality in a production system than at least I would:
    a) disable automatic memory management by setting SGA parameters manually
    b) set the large_pool_size to a appropriate value to support the shared server processes
    c) tweak dispatcher and shared server processes to match at least values that represent
the minimum++ needed processes (= a higher value then needed maximum)
    d) set java_pool size to a decent size (250 Mb or higher)
    e) set an appropriate PGA setting to support XML fragment handling
    f) DISABLE autoregistering database functionality with the listener
(see amongs others "Registering non-default XMLDB HTTP/WebDAV and FTP ports
       on a non-default Oracle Listener port" - http://www.liberidu.com/blog/?p=116)
    g) alter the xdbconfig.xml file with more appropiate timeouts, locking and cache handling.
    h) dedicate a specific listener (aka a a listener not called "LISTENER") for shared server
connection handling (this for management reasons and specific debugging).
    i) use version 10.2.0.4.0 or 11.1.0.7.0 for production environments (I know that this
       matches your environment)
    j) always enforce that client software matches the database version
       (as in your case 10.2.0.4.0)
    k) keep NLS settings on client and database equal and support a AL32UTF characterset
(IMHO a minimum requirement on the database side)

  • BT stack file TosBTMng.Exe causes 100% CPU Load

I'm also facing the problem that the Toshiba Bluetooth Manager (TosBtMng.exe) very often starts looping and causes a CPU load of 100%.
This happened with older versions of the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack and current version (5.1.0.12).
The affected system is a Tecra S1, internal BT-Modul and Windows XP SP2.
Installation of the BT-Stack went well and the notebook will boot succesfull while BT is enabled. I also checked for hidden COM-Ports and other hints found in this forum, no success.
The lockup seems to happen at different times. Sometimes just after are reboot, clicking on the BT Tray symbol with the right mouse button. Then the context menu is shown just as white area, no entries. It may also trying to connect to an already paired device. If I kill the process with the task manager I can restart and it continues to work for some time.
As found in another thread here I have enabled API logging of the Bluetooth Manager and found the following while connecting with the Nokia PC Suite to my mobile Phone:

A new COM port is successfully created (COM23), and a few seconds later the CPU Load of TosBtMng goes up to 100%, but no API calls are performed. And if you wait long enough the phone gets connected and data can be transferred. However, very slowly.
Probably due to the high CPU load a next COM (COM24) port will be created sometime later and this process is then repeated again:

Maybe this helps to locate the origin of the CPU load problem of the Bluetooth Manager.
    Thanks
    Gerhard

I was having the same problem, and it turned out to be the Data execution prevention settings. I had turned on (System->Advanced->Data execution protection) the execution prevention for all programs, causing TosBTMng.exe to max out one processor core all the time. The solution was to add TosBtMng.exe to the list of exceptions and restart. I'd looked high and low for a solution - hope this helps someone else!
