Starting a swf slide presentation at random slide

I have a swf slide presentation of 9 slides. I would like the
swf to start at the beginning of a randomly chosen slide. Any ideas
on how to do this? I saw some msgs here about starting at random
frames, but nothing pertaining to slides.
Thanks, John

You can import pictures into programs such as Photoshop and sharpen them or make other corrections but the results will depend on how much information remains in your photo.  It is always better to work with the original image than to copy it out of a power point presentation.  I am moving the discussion to the Photoshop forum in case you need more help.

  • Presenter starting random slides on re-launch from LMS

After publishing and uploading to our LMS, I'm able to view the entire presentation, but upon completion and relaunch, the lesson begins at random slides - sometime slide 4, sometimes 25, sometimes 11, etc...
I need the presentation to start at the beginning for viewers to watch again from the beginning.

Just spent some time chatting with tech support.  For some reason they have never heard of this problem but it seems to be all over the internet.  Anyway their solution was to right click on the Power Point icon and set properties to run as the administrator.  Then put all the source files on the same drive (now on the "C" drive).   OK, I did all that and got the same results.  Next idea was to create a short test presentation so I created a 5 slide test and Presenter skipped slide 3.  On the suggestion from another user I looked at the recorded video (not the edited video) and you can see the missing slide flash by.  It is on screen less than a second.  So it has something to do with the recording.

  • Embed SWF in to Slide Presentation

I've started a Flash animation from a Slide Presenation
Template in Flash 8. I'm using it to share information prior to a
web conference. I'd like to embed a SWF game on the last slide so
the participants can play the game while they are waiting for the
conference to start. What is the best way to do that?

Dump your game into a container movieclip (if that's possible
    - assuming you
have the source .fla file for the game) that you can then
    drag onstage.

  • Creating slide presentions with SWF & FLV Player

I downloaded this freeware to create slide presentations, but I just couldn't (read: don't know how to) even after playing around with it for sometime.
I wanted to do something like this: http://www.threadless.com/submission/213927/Sky_Thief
I have the template for the above, though--I just want to change the images.
    Am I missing something here?
Has anyone tried this SWF & FLV Player?:

I have a presentation with +100 slides. During the first 10 slides I want one song to start from the beginning, at the 11th slide a new song starts from the beginning, and so on during the entire presentation. How do I do? Thanks in advance. janfromfinland

This is a very common request which unfortunately has not been satisfactorily answered albeit for very complicated workarounds using multiple duplicates of your keynote file and hyperlinking them.
The easiest alternative is to have iTunes play in the background timed to begin when you manually start the keynote. You can create a playlist so the tracks run into each other, or better yet combine them into one track using a free editor like GarageBand. You'll need to rehearse your timings. Hopefully, youre not trying to match lyrics with words or animations as this is not the most exact way to do so.
The alternative is to create a separate keynote file of those 10 slides and export them to QuickTime, reimport the movie into keynote and add the music track to the file. That will give more accurate timing. The  most accurate timing would be tom import the QuickTime movie into iMovie and add the soundtrack with exact timings. Ive done this successfully except for the fact that exporting this way fools around with any build timings.
S the final alternative is to do your first 10 slides with music from iTunes and advance the slides manually using screenflow or the latest QuickTime in lion to record the screen Inc music.
All troublesome but doable workarounds until Apple comes to our aid.

  • No slide presentation on Flash MX's start screen?

    Hi
I expected to find Slide presentation under Create New at
Macromedia Flash MX but it is not there. Is it only in Flash 8?
    Appreciate any reply. Thanks.
    From Olive

If you are placing a Keynote file on a CD or memory device then it will never play on a TV.
A Mac computer, iPad or iPhone are the only devices that can play Keynote files.
You can however export still image files in JPEG format from Keynote which will play as a slide show, without effects, on a "smart TV"

I'm interested in this, too. (Thanks for bringing up the
    topic!) My
guess, however, is that you won't see a flood of feedback.
    The timeline
metaphor is deeply engrained in the Flash developer mindset.
    Building a
slide presentation-based movie (the relatively new "screens
    feature") just
doesn't feel like working in Flash. I don't think many people
    use
screens -- though maybe it's too early to tell. I could be
    completely off
base, of course, and I welcome friendly dissenters.
I think Macromedia was hoping to appeal to the Visual Studio
    crowd with
screens. I'm curious to see how Adobe continues the idea. In
    any case, at
present, there's a kind of ActionScript mini-framework that
    gets added to
screens-based SWFs. This framework is what allows screens to
    behave like
screens rather than timelines. It is important to realize,
    however, that
all SWFs are, in the end, SWFs. The screens metaphor is no
    more "real" than
the timeline metaphor is. Both are just user interfaces to
    translate our
human instructions into something the Flash Player can
    understand.
I don't much care for the fact that this framework adds 27KB
    to a SWF
before anything else is even added. Start a new Slideshow
    Presentation and
immediately test the SWF (Control > Test Movie). In the
    resulting Flash
Player window, select View > Bandwidth Profiler to see how
    much the SWF
weighs. Do the same with a normal Flash document and compare
    the two.
To answer your specific bullet points:
    - Stability
I have no opinion here, I'm afraid. I simply haven't
    produced enough
screens-based SWFs to make a fair assessment.
    - Range
Not sure what you mean, here. Are you asking if
    screens-based SWFs can
    be bigger, hold more content?
    - Limitations
The end result in either case is a SWF, and a SWF is what it
    is.
    - Preference
I prefer the timeline metaphor because I've been using it
    since Flash 3.
I use Flash for everything from applications to cartoons to
    video, so in my
    workflow, timelines makes more sense.
    - Experience
Very little experience with screens (because I don't care
    for them).
Plenty of experience with Flash in general.
    - Pros
I would imagine -- and I can only imagine -- that some
    people prefer the
"slides" format. To me, it feels like PowerPoint, which I
    don't much care
    for.
    - Cons
The aforementioned extra SWF weight. 27KB isn't a deal
    breaker, and
it's certainly less bulky than any of the v2 UI Components,
    but ehh. For
what that's worth, I think it's a con. My programming skills
    have matured
along with the phenomenal advances in ActionScript in recent
    years. I
crossed a milestone back in Flash MX, I think, where Flash's
    under-the-hood
mechanisms really started "clicking" with me. (To be sure,
    the learning
process never ever stops ... I'm *still* learning, and things
    are *still*
clicking for me, but I digress.) To me, the screens metaphor
    introduces a
new (in my opinion, unnecessary) layer of abstraction to a
    lean-but-powerful
environment I already know and love.
    - Accuracy
Not sure what you mean here.
    - Problems
I don't use screens often enough.
    - Errors
    Ditto.
    - Likes
This is reflected in my views on Pros and Cons.
    - Dislikes
    Ditto.
    - Load Balancing
Again, not sure what you mean.
    - Customization
    Good question!
    - Coding Development/Programming
None of the programming books I've read even touch screens.
    - Control
    Control of what?

  • Presenter 7 - Force Slide Order?

Just started playing around with this. The slide order is a
huge shortcoming and maybe someone has an XML or SWF trick for me?
I want the user to take the slides ONLY in a particular
order, but I want to keep the vavigation pane (on the Left side in
my case). I tried to set the minimum time to 10 seconds and that
LOCKS the slide for 10 seconds. When I have sound done, then it
will match the sound duration and I get that. The problem is that I
can click on ANY slide in the Left navigation pane and thus take
the course out of order. I want to force it to go in sequence.
I have not tried the Next Slide option and there may be other
tricks. Adobe should have had a setting checkbox set like this:
X Slides must be taken in order presented
    X Allow backward movement
There are many other things that I'll post, including a few
crashes, but so far, this is one slick tool that just begs for more
    options.
    Joe C.

The good news is that the sound editing solution noted above
does work. I appreciate your can-do and never say never attitude
because it makes the Message Boards useful.
While your solution does work, it is still a work around to
what should be a single checkbox for the entire presentation. I
have more than several hundred slides to deal with in a project
that spans over 1,000 hours of development time and I DO appreciate
the solution / workaround. But my time will be simplified with the
proper option and this tool is supposed to be a simple way of
getting this done from PpowerPoint, so perhaps Adobe will see the
point where simplicity looks brillient and workarounds are torture.
Note that I did try Select-All and then the Insert Command,
that does not insert the command for all slides. It requires doing
    this for each slide.
There are other problems that I sent to Adobe, including the
Quiz Summaries per Quiestion Group forcing the presentation to stop
dead at the Quiz summary and not continue. I sent them a slew of
small issues and I do believe that they are at least listening and
seeing what I found. If all goes well, that will mean smarter
    software in the future.
The key to Presenter 7 is simplicity and locking out options
that cannot work. Adobe has a good idea here, but the last 10% may
take 50% of the effort to add the polish that locks-out impossible
scenarios (or at least warns about them) and where one click can
replace hundreds of clicks for setup. It is hard to think this way
for some programmers, but the concept is to have the software do
what the person is thinking without the workarounds, hacks or odd
settings that act as workarounds. They are quite close and
reporting the issues to Adobe gives us all a chance to make the
process smoother, faster and more enjoyable.
Thanks for your workaround, it is a "punt" strategy for me
now and I think that Adobe may find a way to do this with one
    checkbox.

  • Flash Slide Presentation Format vs Flash File

I mistakenly made a fairly robust animation (15 layers about 5 min long with sound) in a Flash Slide Presentation document. The entire animation sits in slide number 1 (no other slides in this doucument).  I need to take this animation out of the Slide Presentation mode an put it into a regular flash file because other applications are reading the presentation holder slide and not reading the animation. Is there a way to get rid of the "Presentation (parent) holder slide or do I need to copy the whole thing to another document? If so how do I do that? Thanks in advance for your help,

shift-click and drag across all the frames of your animation to select all the frames, then right click and click copy.  go to a new swf and right click on a frame and click paste.

  • Flash Slide Presentation...how to control volume?

    Hello,
I am working in Flash Slide Presentation mode. I have a
started a sound file playing on the "master" slide and I want it to
play throughout my entire presentation. However, on a couple of
slides, I want to play some short voice clips. How can I "turn down
the volume" a bit on the main sound file so as to hear the short
voice clips? And then turn it back up when the voice clip ends?
I understand basic Actionscript. Can anyone tell me the code
or point me to a tutorial which I can use to accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.

Ah, I was tying the (unavailable ) controller number and I didn't see the pitch controller option spelled out in plain sight!

My slide presentation (with songs) is done. How can I change one song from another?

Do you still have your Aperture Slideshow project? Then open the slideshow and select the one of the green audio file clips in the film strip that you want to replace. Press the "delete" key and drag another audio file from the Media Browser directly onto the slide, where the sound should start.

  • Quiz Score in Slide Presentation

    Hi All,
I have prepared a short tutorial in slide presentation format
with 20 questions at the end, and I'm trying to get the quiz score
(using Flash with AICC tracking) displayed on the last slide but I
haven't been successful so far. I am using slide template in Flash
Professional 8, and I followed the instructions in Flash help menu
including copying all the required files onto my server, but I'm
still having problem with reporting the quiz score.. The only thing
I don't understand very well in the instruction found on the help
menu is "start the LMS system (or create the AICC Course Descriptor
Files) that references the frameset.htm file."
I would appreciate if anybody could provide me with
information on where to get help on this. Maybe there is a tutorial
somewhere I am not aware of.

  • What is the easiest way to make a slide presentation DVD with music that can be played on PC or DVD player using MacBook Pro?

What is the easiest way to make a slide presentation DVD with music that can be played on a PC or DVD player?  I'm using a MacBook Pro since that's the computer that has all the photos (in an album) and music.  Thanks.

I would suggest that you post this to the Adobe Encore>Menus & Buttons forum. What you want to do, if I read correctly, is pretty simple. There will probalby be links available to step you though it. I'll look for this there, and start gathering some links.
    Good luck,

  • Sync Single SWF in Sidebar to Multiple Slides AND Upload to Connect Pro

Thank you for reading this. I have a three 18-20 min SWF
movies of presenters who are talking to between 19-30 slides each.
I see it's been suggested that there is no easy way to do this,
BUT, that one can locate the reference XML file; and then cut and
paste the video link; and then adjust each in and out time. Phew!
Has anyone done this with success? Are there any other tricks
or pointers? Any software that forwards Time Markers to SWF and
    presenter?
I then need to post these Presenter files onto a Connect Pro
Account. Will the time spent adjusting the XML file be worth it OR
should I make up and import up to 90 small SWFs one for each slide?
OR Are there any other strategies? Thanks for your ideas!

No problem - post the page so we can see what you did wrong.
Once you post the page url it will only take a few minutes to
figure out the problem. It's impossible to figure out without more
    to go on...
