Starting a video from the middle

I tried searhing the forums first... but couldn't find an answer.
I'm at the gym, watching a movie (not from iTunes store). I get through half of it, go home and listen to music. Charge/sync my ipod and then the next day at the gym, I want to watch the rest of the movie. However, the iPod always starts the movie back at the beginning and I have to scroll through an hour or so (which uses up lots of power).
I have iTunes 6.0 and I've selected the file, went to Get Info then Options. The Remember Playback position is checked.
Does anyone know how to help? Is it because I instruct the ipod to do something else (like listen to music) or take it home and charge/sync it?

that's so frustrating if the syncing is the problem! Because I charge/sync every night. I'm hoping someone will know if this is the case for sure - or if there really is a solution.
I just updated my ipod software 2 weeks ago when a message popped up on my screen.
And I was hesitant to go to 6.0.4 because 6.0 was working so well. I had some huge huge problems when I updated back in September that took 15 days of my life I'll never get back! I didn't want to mess with a good thing.
That shouldn't effect my playback issue/question, should it?

Earlier everything worked fine, I'm not aware of any change, e.g. in preferences. Now, if I try starting a video from the net (e.g. Youtube) I get either message: update Flash player, or enable plug in; both are in order, and work fine on Safari. I cleared cache and cookies, tried even to uninstall Firefox and download Aurora in vain. I use Windows 7 Ultimate and AVG Internet Security, the very same as earlier when Firefox played these videos perfectly.

Hi, is it the website itself or just that particular game? Does either one work when using Internet Explorer?
Using FF(Firefox) go to the plug-ins and look for the SWF vs 10.0.45.2 plug-in and make sure it is Enabled.
Do you use Ad-Block in FF?, if so try Disabling it and then check if this makes a difference.

Start playing from the middle of a playlist?

Hi all,
I was wondering how to start playing from an arbitray song in a playlist on iTunes. When you go to a playlist, you see a play button next to the title of the playlist on the upper left corner of the playlist pane. If you press it, iTunes starts from the first song of the playlist. What do you do when you want to start from a song in the middle and continue to play songs in the order of the playlist?
I selected the song from which I want to start and pressed the play button on the upper-left corner, but iTunes started to play from the top of the list. When I double-clicked on the song, iTunes started to play the song but it stopped at the end of the album, not at the end of the playlist.

Oh hi... seemed like I've got the problem fixed. :") For this particular case, just get the server side to stream the video to the clients (possibly one instance is created for each IP address, if resources allow). The server can quickly seek to any particular position within the media clip, and start streaming from there. The clients' players just need to listen to the stream from the appropriate instance on the server.
JMF can do the streaming just fine. I've switched to VLC before I knew that, so now I'm having problem making the JMF on the client work with the VLC streaming. This is weird, considering the streaming protocol to be identical. But I should get that fixed soon.

Maybe the speed of your internet connection has some bearing on it?
But you could give this a try - reset Safari and see if that helps at all.

No, this reply is not helpful. It simply generates this little gem:
"This service requires the conversion feature to be enabled.
Configure conversion ?"
And the same clicking on buttons that makes nothing happen and going around in circles with the escape key.

N96 only plays videos from the start

My N96 only plays videos from the start. Whenever I press the 'play from where it stopped' function the sound works okay but the picture isn't there. Also the same problem occurs when I try to fastforward or rewind videos. As you can imagine this is not much use when I'm trying to watch a film in stages.

What is the best way to remove footage from the middle of a clip?

What is the best way to remove unwanted footage from the middle of a clip? I have a clip that I've trimmed from the start and finsih, but I need to remove "boring" footage from inbetween.

Thank you for your replies. I tried the blade tool followed by select and delete but it did not seem very precise. I had better success with this aproach at the ends rather than in the middle. I watched a tutorial video on using the precision editor, but the video was small so I had a difficult time following where the person clicked, etc. Any info on using the precision editor would be greatly appreciated. I need to make precise cuts to avoid creating unatural motion for the subject. So far, close but no cigar.

How to Start a color in the middle of a cell in the table & end in next cel

I am developing a project in VB6 and the databse in MsAccess, i prepared the Report in HTML, Based on 2 Fields called Nextti & Duration Field I am coloring the Background of cells in the report table.
Actually the Color should start and end insdie or outside the cell based on the 2 Field Values.
Table is populated for 4 Years under that 48 months, therefor 2 row headings. 1 for showing Years in column & other for Months & with Some fields.
the below is the line i use to change the background of a particular cell. Its done when i populate the data in the HTML Report.

If the duration is 15 then it should end in the (January) same end of cell. Kindly tell me how can i do this through HTML. I heard Div can be used to solve this issue. I am a beginner so kindly any one give me a appropriate example which will suit to solve this issue.

If your question is 'amenable' to HTML, figure out conditions for which you want to Set a certain color....
If the color in one cell for instance depends on the Next Cell, then you're going to have to buffer the whole Table ROW....
Set which ones should be RED for instance, then output that ROW in HTML...
If you are using Java for this, then also be aware that you might need to escape certain characters like use "\\" to get "\"
You'd also probaly have an easier time, however you are doing this if you used some sort of CSS .......

I can't play certain videos from the internet on my macbook

I can't play certain videos from the internet on my macbook.
When using Sarfari or Google Chome, I am unable to play some videos on the internet. News clips, posted videos on blogs, and tv episodes from their own network websites. Youtube videos are fine. I doesn't make sense.
I tried downloading an update for quicktime, but the computer claims that quicktime is up to date. Yet, the videos and tv episodes don't play.
I have checked for the most recent software updates, and everything is up to date. Nothing is wrong with the hardware either.
Any suggestions would be awesome! Thank you!

In addition to Flash, you might need some other plugins. Microsoft videos are mostly in Silverlight, and you'll want Flip4Mac to play WMVs. Perian contains codecs for pretty much every video online.

Disappearing videos from the slides of Keynote in retina display 15" Macbook Pro

After transferring to retina 15" display macbook pro, keynote started to delete videos from the presentations without leaving a sort of mark or placeholder but just an empty slide.

You should have a backup in the first place. If you don't, buy an external drive (they're inexpensive these days) and make a Time Machine or a clone backup (using Carbon Copy Cloner).
Then take your machine to your local Apple Store or an AASP and let them diagnose the computer. See if they can isolate what may possibly be making the 'clicking' sound.

How do I edit a video in the middle on iPhone 5s?

I have an iPhone 5s. I have the iMovie app downloaded on it. How do I edit a video in the middle to delete some scenes using either iMovie to otherwise on the phone itself? All instructions I have researched tell me only how to trim the video from the edges.

Trying to delete a clip from a scene in the middle of a movie.
The trim option only seems to let you keep what you want but won't delete what you don't want.

The choices you mention only appear when in the Event and perform what AppleMan has described. You need to do the edit in the Project. Following AppleMan's advice, you will see this pop-up menu:
The project simply references the video clips in the associated Event. Deleting the selection from the project will not remove the video from the Event, but will just extract that portion from the clip in the project, as AppleMan described.

Airport & Can't get video from the camera

Ok, So I've been reading through the discussions trying to figure out what's wrong, and then how to fix it. I keep getting error "Can't get video from the camera"
Here's my setup: OSX 10.4.4 on 1 Ghz PB. iChat 3.1.1, I'm connecting using a Dazzle Hollywood DV Bridge with an analog camcorder attached. I can get a video preview, but no video chats.
My connection is via a DSL modem (Cisco 725) and my ISP says all the ports needed for iChat are not blocked. my local network goes from the Cisco to an Airport (dual ethernet) which then distributes the IP addresses.
I've read that airports need to be switched so that they do not control the IP addresses, but when I do that my network stops working. Is there any way around disabling the NAT on the airport?

My PB has an IP of 10.0.1.4 via Sys Prefs, etc..
And the Airport is 10.0.1.1 and is distributing IP addresses (hence the 10.0.1.x IP numbers - right)

Nope. You need to have Distributing Addrress deselected in the Airport if it is in the link
With the Modem doing DHCP you should get an IP from it (mostly 10.0.0.3 as the Airport will also be given one)
Once the Modem's issued IP appears on the Mac then you log on to the modem (10.0.0.1) in Terminal, and Forward the ports to the IP the Mac gets.
Your wife's PC is also likely to need some ports open for her Apps and this will be a different IP.
I have only brought some of the details from the Port Forward site so I would make sure you check any Read Me or manual (On the CD ? web site ?) that might give you more clear instructions.
I would set it up with the Airport Out of the loop first as this will confirm the modem is in DHCP mode (you will not get an IP otherwise).

Can't stream video from the web

My iPad cannot stream videos from Safari web sites except when I am in the same room as the modem and router. I am not talking about flash, I mean videos it should be able to stream.
I use an Arris modem from Comcast with a Time Machine in the same room. I have an Airport Express in another room to extend wireless coverage.
If I start a video in the "time machine room" it will load and I can then leave and the video will play. If I try to start it in another room it will not load properly.
I tried a test, streaming the same video to my iBook, my iPhone and my iPad - from a non "time machine room" in my house. No problem with the iBook or iPhone. The video played with no problems. No go with the iPad.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? I am getting a strong Wi Fi signal.

HI Deanna,
Try resetting the network settings on your iPad.
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
That will restore to factory default.
Restart your iPad, restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, try changing the Airport channel.
Select the device you’re setting up on the left and then click Manual Setup. Enter the base station password if necessary.
Click AirPort in the toolbar, and then click Wireless.
Choose a new channel from the Channel pop-up menu.
If that doesn't help, go to /Library/Preferences. Move all the files in the System Configuration folder to the Trash, and restart your Mac.
Try streaming again.
If I try to start it in another room it will not load properly.

Oh my! Obviously, I don't know what I'm doing. But I do know that my goal was to do both---backup AND free some space. My iMAc is old (2006) and I upgraded it a year or so ago to Snow Leopard. I didn't think I had the capability of backing up without an external drive, but maybe I do since I upgraded. Do I?
But I bought this My Book mostly for freeing space because I like to make cards in Photoshop and I'm forever running out of space when I get too many layers (don't really know what I'm doing there, either).
Is there some way that I can rectify my mistakes and start all over?
Thank you so much for beng so prompt with your reply and patient with mine. I tried for so long to see the dialog box with the library listings. When I launched iPhoto, even with holding down the Option key, it kept immediately launching into the full screen. Finally, after an hour of doing it over and over again, it worked when I held the key down for 5 minutes. Then when I was typing my reply, I kept getting a message to "Request Time Out." Didn't know how to do that, so kept hitting the OK button and kept typing for another half minute. Finally, when ready to send, Safari couldn't do it. "Try again" exasperated me until I realized I would have to begin again and use Firefox. When I got there and ready to type, I got the message that my message had been retrienved and did I want to use it?!!
So your kindness is very much appreciated.
