Starting a weblogic server as a non system user

How to Start Weblogic server as an NT Service with the user other thant
"system". I have to start weblogic server with a differnt user name.
Thanks
Madhu

I have included the user in the administrator group and the group has the
permission to boot. But still it does not work. It throws an exception
Fatal
Initialization exception java.lang.illegalaccesserror unable to open process
token--bad domain name.
Thanks
Madhu

try creating a new user and make it a member of the Administrator group.
Then verify that the Administrator group is a grantee in the "boot"
permission in the weblogic.server ACL.
To start WLS with this new user, try to specify this user in the wlscommand
line (i think it must be like -Dweblogic.boot.user=<user name>, but i'mnot
sure, so take a look at the WLS6 help).
hope this will be useful

  • Starting a Weblogic server as non system user

Can we start a Weblogic server as a non system user? I didn't find any option to
pass in the user name to the startup script? Is there any undocumented parameter
to pass in the user name? The reason I am suspecting this can be done is one opf
the ACLs for weblogic.Server lists boot permissions and this would seem to indicate
whoever has boot permissions on weblogic.Server should be able to boot weblogic
    server.

  • Weblogic server with OIM non-root

    Friends,
I am installing OIAM on top of Weblogic Server on CentOSLinux OS .
The problem is i want to install weblogic server and OIAM with non-root so that it does not have security issues.
When i try to install weblogic i am unable to install it with normal user rights in /opt dir it requires root access. As per the document oiam install on top of weblogic should not be a problem but the major issue is running weblogic with non-root.
pls let me know abt install and running weblogic as a non-root user, or a pointer to the documentation.
    thank you

No. I have tried all the possibilities, but it is still not working.
I am the only user for my PC and, i have even tried runnig the server in admin mode as you suggested. rightclick on startWebLogic.cmd and run as administrator
If the procedure is wrong, please suggest another way.
I have another problem in addition to this. The model project is not being saved to the harddrive. If i create stuff in the model project it only lasts till i close the JDev, once i open it again, everything is lost.

  • Unable to start the weblogic server from windows environment

    Hi All,
In our training system we have installed the SOA 11g and it worked fine till today afternoon. We have logged off the admin user in windows account and logged with our login credentials into windows after that we are unable to start the weblogic server.
    - Earlier in the DOS command prompt we used to navigate to the path where the startWeblogic.cmd file located and then we execute the command, after that we will able to see the status message as RUNNING MODE in the bottom of the screen, and when ever we deploy an project using Jdeveloper in the weblogic server window some messages will appended based on the action.
    - Only when we issue the command to shut down the weblogic server at that time only the command will be back to the path from where we started the server.
    - After login to windows with our account, when we tried to start the weblogic server, it didn't throw any error instead of that after running few lines in the command window the prompt was back in to the (D:\Middleware\.....\Domains\bin)path from where we ran the command to start the server.
Please help us to resolve the issue asap.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sathyaseelan

    Hi,
Make sure that the user which you are using to start weblogic server should be part of Administrator group or the group to which your admin user belongs to.

  • Difference in starting a weblogic server

    Hi,
Can anyone please explain me what is the main difference in starting a weblogic server using a node manager and as a standalone (Without using node manager)

    Hi Prasad,
I guess it's pretty much the same. Both methods do the following:
Calls the StartWeblogic script, which invokes setDomainEnv to set environment variables
Invokes java weblogic.server command which starts the JVM configured to run a WL server instance
However, please keep note that any parameters/arguments set via Weblogic console > Environment > Servers > {SERVER} > Configuration > server start section, won't be used when starting the server using StartManagedWeblogic script, and only would be used when using nodemanager.
You may also notice two jvm arguments exist, when using Nodemanager:
    -Dweblogic.system.BootIdentityFile
    -Dweblogic.nodemanager.ServiceEnabled
Which are strictly Nodemanager related arguments, and shouldn't affect the jvm itself.
You can check this doc for more info on start/stop your environment > http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/web.1111/e13708/overview.htm#START120
These are what I've noticed regarding that point. Hope it helps.

    Mohab

    Hi Manikyam,
It sounds as if your host name is not setup to resolve in your DNS. You can
either add it to the DNS, or if that's not available, you can manually add
it to your hosts file (located in c:\WINNT\system32\drivers\etc -- if the
file does not exist, you can create a new one).

    Hi,
You need to edit boot.properties file in above locations.Use username and password which you used while installing.
    (OBIEE Installation Drive)\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\AdminServer\security
