Starting backgroun job, when instance starts up

Hi,
having the portal service implementation from earier times in mind and
look for a way to write a backgroung job, which will be started when the CE instance is started.
Therefore each portal service implements the start() method. This possibility I miss for application or any aother kind of J2EE services.
Can you provide information how this can be done on J2EE or composite application level, because I want avoid to be in touch with the prt.
Thanks,
Jens

    Hi,
It seems that the issue is in the timer job definition for executing this operation.
My suggestion is to start the service again and delete the job definition from the error and again try to stop it.
    This might be helpful:

I had a lot of issues in the past when try to stop this instance after the Web apps are provisioned.
As general rule now If I have multi-server Farm topology that has servers that should not serve Web App requests I turn off the service prior to provisioning any Web Apps in the Farm.

    Dear One´s,
What is the back ground job when we run an Attribute Change run ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
    1. If the attribute change run is triggered through process chain the job name is 'BI_PROCESS_ATTRIBCHAN'
    2. If the change run is triggered from RSA1> tools?Appl Heirarchy/Attribute changerun then the job name starts with BI_STRU*
    3. If you trigger the program RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN from SE38 then the job name will be RSDDS_AGGREGATES_MAINTAIN
    Hope this helps...

    Hi,
Go to the database view V_OP and check for the column 'STATUS' which gives the background job status , based on value from this column (cancelled status ) , start the new job with FM : 'JOB_START' .

  • Any way to get more than 100% zoom on print jobs when printing multiple pages?

I know how to increase the size of a print job, when I am printing one page at a time. But when I go to print 2 pages at once (the multiple page print function), there are always large margins around the page. I'm ok with saving paper and printing up two pages, but it seems silly to see small print and wide blank margins. Is there any way to increase the print zoom, when printing multiple pages per sheet of paper?

I once overshot the limit by marking too many photos to fit within 99 pages, but I could never figure out how to fool the application and had to give up trying to add those 14 extra photos.
I asked a friend (who practically lives in Terminal) if he had any way of modifying that limit, but he reminded me that if their printing services are set up to bind books and bill for only 99 pages, fooling the application might be useless if the service only prints me a 99 page book and discards the additional pages.
I can understand that you wouldn't want to let people print 1000 page books, but I sent feedback anyway to allow me to increase the limit. Anyone know of any service that lets you print beyond iPhoto's limits?

  • Pass parameter to a job when job is selected in a jobset

Is there any way to pass a parameter to a job when the job is selected in a jobset?
I have a jobset with a job twice, and I want to show in a textbox a X value for first job and Y value to second job.

You can pass information between the jobs; for details refer to:
Defining and Using Job Sets Supporting Input and Output Forwarding in Job Sets
    Using Parameters and System Properties
    Using System Properties
SystemProperty (Oracle Enterprise Scheduler Service API Reference)
So depending on your requirements you could define job set step parameters, input / output forwarding or name value pairs on the ENVIRONMENT_VARIABLES system property.

  • Dynamically populated dropdown values are missing when instances are added

    HI Team
I have a subform which is repeatable have  a drop down  as one of the field which is dynamically populated from the web service call(short lived process) from the DB.On initialize event of the subform the data connection is executed .Dropown is populated with the values but when an instance of subform is added the dropdown values are missing.
Only in the first instance of a subform  dropdown values are showing up , when instances of subform is added the drop down values are missing.
Please let me how can i solve this issue,
    Thanks in Advance
    Bharathi

I've tried this option by adding some value (hard-coded) during initialize event of the subform and all values are populated in the newly added instances as well.
Not sure why it's not working for you.. Can you try adding some sample values without calling web service and confirm if it's working?

  • Will Sql Server Agent start job when previous instance is running?

Just as an example, I have a job that is set to run every 5 minutes. The job takes 30 minutes to complete. So sql server agent executes the job at 9:30AM. Will the job run again at 9:35AM even though the previous instance hasn't completed?
In my case, I would like to reproduce what Task Scheduler already has, which is to
not begin a new instance until the previous instance has completed. When the previous instance completes, then 5 minutes later, the job will be run again.
    Thanks.

Apparently, it will skip it until the job is completed: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/865042/will-a-sql-server-job-skip-a-scheduled-run-if-it-is-already-running

  • Start background Job when another is finished (NOT with the JobSteps)

    Hi guys,
    i need your help.
I've already searched here in forum, but i wasn't able to find a good solution.
    I have this problem.
I have a program that create a background job with the FM FM JOB_OPEN.. SUBMIT report with parameters .. JOB_CLOSE.
I want that if i run this report again (20 secs after for example) it does:
    - Check if there is an already running Job with the same name (means with state 'R') (This task is simply, with a select on TBTO table)
    - If it's found, it have to create a new job with the same name that starts automatically AFTER the first running job is finished (don't care about the end-state of the first job).
I've already tried with pred_jobcount & PRED_JOBNAME parameters of the JOB_CLOSE FM but it doesen't works!
The JOB_CLOSE, creates a job in Planned state. But when the first Job is finished, the second job(Planned) doesen't start automatically.
In this scenario, i CANNOT use endless loops (wait until the first job is finished and then submit the second) Job-steps (one job that contains multiple steps) events (i have to start only one job after the predecessor is finished), because this report could be run many times and each job should be collected like a "stack" (only when the first job is finshed the second "registered" should be started and so on, until the aren't more planned jobs).

    Hi Veda
i can tell u but ... some reward points are very appreciated ....
    I'm joking (of course)
    Here the question:
I have a program (called A) that submit a new program (called B) with the JOB_OPEN .. submit JOB_CLOSE. The program B should start only if another program B (called before for example) is finished.
    Here the solution.
I add a parameter (with no-display clausole) to the program B. In this parameter i pass to the program, the job number returned by the JOB_OPEN function.
When i create the JOB with the function, the "jobname" parameter is set with value 'G_DELIVERY' (Here u can change the name of the job as u want : this is the jobname that u see in SM37 transaction).
In the start-of-selection of program B i put a "waiting" procedure like this :
First i save a timestamp of system-date and system-time (called for example r_date and r_time)
select from table TBTCO all the jobs called "G_DELIVERY" with jobnumber <> from the jobnumber parameter (that means exclude itselfs)  with status running ('R')  -> that have startdate /starttime less than the r_date and r_time <- (this is the key of the selection that solve the problem).
if it is found (means there is another running job started before this one).
wait up to 60 seconds. "for example
    repeat the selection.
    endif.
When the job called before ends, this one programs exits from the loop and continues. If u submit more programs "B", they'll works like a stack.
I should say to u just one thing.... I solved my problem in another way (because i've changed the logic so this problem was no more) so i didn't implemented that logic, but it should works very good.
    Try it and tell me!
    Bye

  • "could not start print job" when printing to PDF from Lightroom

Any body else had this problem and fixed it??  When I print from Lightroom to Adobe PDF I get "could not start print job" and the print job hangs.
    I have:
    Lightroom 2.5 64 bit
    Acrobat Standard 9
Windows 7 Ultimata 64bit but I had this problem with Vista 64 bit. Somtimes it would work sometimes not - now with Windows 7 Not - always.
I can print to acrobat from every other application, even Photoshop CS3 - just not Lightroom.
It's terribly frustrating.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Ken

    Andrew,
I can print from other apps, just printed a doc from open office.
OS Windows 8.1. Have been printing from this computer and setup previously, it seems to have been an intermitent problem that has now become a consistent problem.
I've updated the printer firmware, and Windows is up to date.
Seems to be a lightroom issue, and I'm getting a bit nervous because I have a show opening on February 15th I need to print for.

  • Grab a list of the latest note for each job when/if they start with set text
