Starting BeX Query Designer from Crystal opens older version Designer

Hi,
When starting the BeX Query Designer from Crystal Reports 2008, the older 3.5 version of the designer is started and hence wanting to edit a query that was designed in 2004s raises the error: "This component was edited with a more recent version of the editor. You also have to use the more recent version to edit further. Further processing is not possible. Update your front-end".
The latest version is installed, it seems that Crystal by default opens the 3.5 version that was installed with the 710 GUI and Business Explorer etc ... Is this by design and can one set something somewhere to use the 2004s version via Crystal Reports.
Any insight is welcome.

that is a known issue in the toolbar of Crystal Reports.
You can start the Query Designer 3.5 / 7.0 from the BEx menu item

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5/5.01 can not open Pages 5.1 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.1 sometimes can not open its own files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has not only managed to confuse all its users, but also itself.
Note: Apple has removed over 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

can't open older version mail from 10.6 after my update to 10.9.5

The 10.6 version of Mail isn't compatible with 10.9. Can you open the new version?

Just uploaded Keynote 6, now I can't open older versions

Any idea how to open older versions with the new keynote 6? I don't have the older version of keynote anymore.

The work around is to use Keynote version 5 so Re-install Keynote 5. If you dont have the installer at all, you can buy a disc on Ebay or Amazon.

Issues with Bex query structures and Crystal Reports/Webi

Hi experts,
I'm having an issue with Bex Query structures and nulls. I've built a Crystal Report against a Bex query that uses a Bex Query structure. The structure looks like the following
Budget $
Budget %
Actual $
Actual %
Budget YTD
etc
if I drag the structure into the Crystal Report detail section with a key figure it displays like this
Budget $     <null>
Budget %     <null>
Actual $     300
Actual %     85
Budget YTD     250
the null values are displayed (and this is what is required). However if I filter using a Record selection or group on a profit centre then the nulls along with the associated structure component are not displayed.
Actual $     300
Actual %     85
Budget YTD     250
Webi is also behaving similarly. Can anyone explain why the above is happening and suggest a solution either on the Bex side of things or on the Crystal Reports side of things? I'm confused as to why nulls are displayed in the first example and not the second.

Hi,
Crystal Reports and Web Intelligence will only show data which is in the cube. You could have an actual 0 or Null entry whithout grouping but by changing the selection / grouping in the report the data does not include such entry anymore.

We have 2 portals in out landscape.
BI system has its own portal and the main portal for the commercial users.
I have a requirement to bring BEx query Reports to Main portal.
I am wondering, how this can be done.

1. You can connect BW/BI system with your portal.
2. Create BEx iview (7.0) from iview templates.
3. Then display report on portal.

BI BEX Query execution from ABAP into a File w/ Text

We are currently running BI 2004s and have a requirement from a user to load a file (preferably excel but a csv or txt file would also work) on a server with the results of a BEX Query and they need the format to look exactly like the Bex results including the columns for the char. text that are specified in the Bex query properties. If we could run this ABAP program in background and foreground - that would be a big plus.
I have searched and reviewed many of the FM, programs and transactions in this forum to do something like this but the text is always missing.
Any suggestions (the simpler the better) would be appreciated.

Yes, I did try RSCRM_BAPI. It looks very promising but the text is not there. Example - Business area 9160 shows up but the text for it "SAFLEX" does not and this text does show up in BEx.

but we have to change them from 7.0 compatible to 3.5 compatible.is there any provision to do that if it possible then please help me.

Hi Kumar,
I think there is no way to copy or save a new query created in 7.0 to 3.x.
But you can use Program COMPONENT_RESTORE to restore 3.x queries which were converted to 7.0 queries.
But there is one disadvantage of this program that this will not restore the changes that were made to the query after converting to 7.0.

Previewing .iBooks file on iPad opens older versions of the file

I'm in the process of developing a file in iBooks Author and to preview it, I email the .iBooks file to myself as well as my reviewers to preview it on our iPads. When I preview my .ibook file in iBooks, it open a previous version of the same file. How can I get it to open the latest version?
I tried deleting all previous versions from iBooks, deleting my previous emails containing older versions of the file.

I'm using OS X 10.9 Mavericks on my MacBookPro with Contacts version 8.0.
I've just dragged an older version of "Contacts" (7.1) out of "Time Machine" to get some old 'phone numbers.
The 29.5 MB "Contacts" file is now sitting on the desktop (late modified June 18 this year) - but I can't access it.
When I click OPEN, the following message appears:
"You can't use this version of the application 'Contacts' with this version of OS X. You have "Contacts" 7.1".
I really need to get some old numbers I no longer have from the "old" version (heck, it's only 5 months old!).
Advice desperately needed - thanks...

How do I open older versions of Pages in Maverick?

All my work is saved in the older version of iWorks (Pages). This new Maverick won't open it. I have been able to open my older photos with iPhoto Library Upgrader but need to know how to open my older documents in Pages. Is there an app or program for that? I'm a novice at all this, so please consider that when replying

What specific version is the “older” iWorks (Pages) that you refer too? Pages > About Pages. Mavericks is the operating system, and has nothing to do with whether you can open Pages documents or not.
Pages documents produced by Pages ’08 (v3.03) or earlier are not supported in Pages v5. Neither are any RTF documents. These will have to be exported to Word (.doc) format before opening in Pages v5.
Due to the new document architecture, and 110 missing features/functionality in Pages v5.2.2 that were present in Pages ’09 documents, it may refuse to open Pages ’09 documents because the original document template is no longer supported.

Edit in Photoshop CC command in Lightroom 5 opens older version of PS CC

On OS X mavericks 10.9.2 in Lightroom 5.3 everytime I use any of the edit in Photoshop CC commands it always launches an older version 14.00 vs the newer 14.2

In your first screen shot you are showing "Photoshop CC" highlited towards the bottom of the list amoung the other programs which are secondary "edit in options". The two at the top "Edit in Photoshop CC" a re where the primary edit in program which is chosen by Lightroom and should be the most "advanced" Photoshop application. What happens if you choose the one at the top of the list? See my screen capture.
From your description it appears you have more than one version of Photoshop CC installed on your computer. I have PS CS6 on my computer and there are two versions the 64 bit version and the 32 bit version.
Maybe you have Photoshop CC (the earlier version) as a "secondary edit in program" in Lightroom.
I am not a primary Mac user but I do have a Mac Book Pro and my thoughts would be to go to my Applications Folder on my HDD and see if there are more than one install of Photoshop CC. If so I would drag the older application into the trash. More experienced Mac users may wish to comment.

Xpr file opening older version of vivado

I recently installed an older version of vivado and this has changed the default setting for opening project files to the older version. This only effects double clicking the project file itself. Ther verision that I would like to have open by defualt is Vivado 2015.1. Thank you for any help that you can give me.

Please follow below steps to do so
Open Windows and search for regedit.exe (Registery Editor)
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and search for Vivado.Project.1 and update the default parameter with 2015.1 (you will see 2014.4 in your case)

Using latest Premiere Pro, opened older version, now all projects have older interface

I have been using the latest version of Premiere. I recently opened a project that was using an older version of Premiere (CS5 perhaps). Now when I open any new projects using that latest version of Premiere, it shows in the older version interface. Does this now mean I have the older version of Premiere Pro or is it showings the interface, yet I still have the latest version? I did not do any thing overt by updating or re-installing, just opening an older version of a project.
