Starting Essbase Server

Dear all,
I finished Foundation Services, Essbase and Planning installation and started the applications using start.bat|sh. When I run the EPM System Diagnostic, i had the following error messages:
FAILED EAS: Essbase Server Validating Essbase Server connection to DC-HypT01
Error: Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase Error(1054067): Internal error
Recommended Action: Check Essbase Server is started.
FAILED ESS: Essbase Studio Server Validating Essbase Studio Server connection
Error: Network communication with the server failed. Check your network connection and try again.
Recommended Action: Start application
I started Essbase Server and Studio manually, But i still got the same error.
What could be the reason?

for windows 2008 SP2.
why would any files not get installed?

Error while starting Essbase Server

Hi,
I installed essbase analytic server version 9.2.0. When I starting the server it is giving the following error:
"essbase.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point eSSWrite could not be located in the dynamic link library ESSAPINU.dll".
Earlier also I got the same problem, but i got resolved when i reinstalled the server.
This time it is not working even after reinstallation.
Can any one tell me why i am getting this error?

I would check to see if there are duplicate versions of the Essbase dlls anywhere on your system. If, for example, some of those files got installed to your system directory (perhaps by a previous/rogue install), you may have mismatched versions of dlls running and even a reinstall won't fix it.
If you are running windows, one useful tool is the sysinternals process explorer which will show you the dlls loaded, where they are loaded from and their versions. Sysinternals was acquired by Microsoft a few years ago and their tools are now available directly from the Microsoft website; www.sysinternals.com should redirect you to the proper place.

Cannot start essbase server?

Essbase client and server are installed in the same windows, the System Environment Variables for have been set to refer to the E:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer, and
ARBORPATH = E:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer
ESSBASEPATH=E:\Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Essbase\EssbaseServer
For the user Envirnment varialbe in the same PC,

I start with startEssbase.bat so that the environment variables can be called, but when I want to connect with maxl, I get error, below is the detail, please advise:

I tried the command you said, it looks better, but still with the next error message:
Essbase global application does not exist at Shared Services
And I check the Shared Service, there is no detail below EssbaseCluster_1, simply it is lost. Should I reconfigure Essbase so that essbase can be registerred on the shared service?

I have reconfigured, but when I didn't see the step that let me to register on HSS, I am trying to reinstall the Essbase.

Essbase server startup by using OPMN.

Hi ,
we are planning to start Essbase server by using OPMN.
Version: 11.1.2.1
Currently, we are using the below line code in our batch script to start Essbase server but we wanted to start the Essbase.
$ARBORPATH/bin/startEssbase.sh -b
I have gone thru docuemnt and came to know that , I need to use the below commnad to start Essbase server by using the below command.
opmnctl startproc ias-component=EssbaseInstanceName.
My question is here, can I keep the same line of code in my existing batch script to start the Essbase server ?
Did anyone one call the this (opmnctl startproc ias-component=EssbaseInstanceName) line of code in start up/batch scripts ? As we are implementing first time.
Please share your thoughts and sugguestions. your help highly appreciated.

We have setup Essbase clustering. There are two servers involved in Essbase clustering.
Can you please let me know , Do we need to start OPMN on two Essbase servers or only one Essbase server. if it is on One server, how it will interact with other server.
Please let me know if you don't understand my question or need more information on the same.

Essbase server blinks and dissapear

i All,
I am using 9.3.1 version on windows 2003 server. Today When I tried to start my essbase server it just blinks and dissapears, and not starting. I even rebooted couple of times but turned no luck. Any body faced this problem before?? Please let me know what steps I need to take to get my essbase server up.

Thanks a lot....the essbase server pops up now and i am able to give the password after following your steps.
Before adding your steps I just tried to register the essbase server as windows service from configuration utility and it was succeded. I was even able to login to console and access my applications.
At that time i didn't have any problem with the environment variables which you have suggested. After that I stopped the service and followed your steps and started essbase server from Programs->Hyperion.......where the window pops up.
Before adding your steps I checked that there was a variable with name as below:
ARBORPATH: D:Hyperion\Analyticservices;D:\Hyperion/common/EssbaseRTC/9.3.1
One more thing is that I was able to start essbase from Programs-.Hypeion....... before without any problem.
Why this sudden behaviour???

When i start the Essbase server, it is not starting.When I looked at the Essbase.log file we found the following entries:

Unable to start Essbase Studio Server

Hi All,
Am getting an error message when I start Essbase studio. The installation and configuration went without any errors. I have downloaded the jdbc driver for mysql, renamed it and placed it in the correct location. Yet when I start the studio server I get the error message described below. I have also attached the contents of the server.properties. Do let me know if you guys have any suggestions.

You could try :-
1. Execute the script “catalog_schema_drop.sql” under $HYPERION_HOME\products\Essbase\EssbaseStudio\server\database\common\MSSQLServer to drop the existing Catalog tables
2. Bring up the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and login as sa
a.Expand the Databases node
b.Expand the “epmesbStudio” under the Database node
c.Expand the “Security” node
d.Right click on “Schemas” under the database “epmesbStudio” to bring up the “Schema” dialog:
e.From the Schema dialog, enter ”epmEsbStudio” for both Schema name and Schema owner, then click OK to create the schema.
f. Verify that the schema “epmEsbStudio” is created:
3. Expand the Users node under Security: (you should see the user “epmEsbStudio” listed under Users)
a. Bring up the user Properties for “epmEsbStudio” by right click on “epmEsbStudio” then select Properties
b. From the user Properties dialog, you can see the Default schema is dbo. Change the default schema to “epmEsbStudio”, which is the schema that we create in the above steps by click on the list button to bring up the Select Schema dialog:
c. Click on the Brows button from the Select Schema dialog, and select “epmEsbStudio” from the list and click OK
d.The selected schema should place in the Select Schema dialog. Click OK on the Select Schema dialog:
e. Now the schema “epmEsbStudio” should appeared as Default schema on the user Properties dialog.
f. Now make sure the Database role membership “db_owner” is selected (select this option if it is not already select).
g. Click OK to save the settings
4. Bring up the Query editor from the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio by click on the “New Query” and make sure the

8. Type the following statement in the query editor, and execute it. The query should be executed without any problem.
Create table Test (

go
9. Verify the table is created under the “epmEsbStudio” Schema:
10.Delete the table “Test”
11.Start the Essbase Studio Server
The properties file should read
Example in server.properties
catalog.db=epmesbStudio.epmEsbStudio
catalog.username=epmesbStudio
You can change "epmEsbStudio" to match your database being used for studio

Essbase server is not starting...

Hi,
I'm not able to login to Essbase server. Its already started in windows service. Initially it used to blink and disappears. I have changed the ARBORPATH environment variable to c:\hyperion\analyticservices.
Now when I type essbase in command prompt, its giving
Fatal Error: Essbase is already loaded
Could anyone please help me in this regard....

I have windows server 2008R2. I had 11.1.2.0 installed & evenrything was working fine. I upgraded to 11.1.2.1 using maintanence release & essbase is not starting up. Everything else is working fine. I ran the validation report after
installing and everything came out green & passed except for Essbase.
No its not starting up by using <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\user_projects\epmsystem1\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\bin\startEssbase.bat

Essbase server not starting

Hi All,
I am running 9.3.1 on windows 2003 server. All of sudden I am facing new problem with my essbase server.
Today I tried to start my essbase service (services.msc) , and it throws the folling error:
" Error 1053 : The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
I tried to start the essbase server from start menu and here it throws the following error.
" The procedure entry point adNetIsErrorSent could not be located in the dynamic link library ESSNETU.dll ".
Please suggest how can I resolve this issue.

I am not sure what all Hyperion products are you using. But Oracle suggests starting services for EPM in a particular order. Can you stop all EPM services and start in this order again?
1. Databases for repositories.
2. Shared Services OpenLDAP
3. Shared Services application server
4. Reporting and Analysis Core Services
5. Performance Management Architect Services
6. Oracle's Hyperion® Essbase® – System 9
7. Administration Services application server
8. Oracle's Essbase® Integration Services
9. Provider Services application server

Regarding Essbase Server start up error 1067

Hi frnds please help me out in this aurgent issue
Iam trying to start the essbase server iam ending up with fallowing error
ERROR:1067
Description:Could not start HYP S9 BI+ analytic services 9.3.1 Essbase service on local computer. Process terminated unexpectedly

Hi Mint,
Hyperion is installed before and this is the DEV box.
Here shared services are installed on this box but iam unable to see it in my services and iam unable to find shared services console.
Its not configured to analytic server.
So to configure it with shared services what are the steps to be taken.

NOT POSSIBLE TO START ESSBASE WHEN SSO INITIALIZATION FAILS

Version is 11.1.1.3. My Essbase is not starting. Issues from the logs and what I have attempted are as follows. I have highlighted the relevant areas in bold.
When Starting Essbase from products/Essbase/bin/start.bat:

What I have attempted:
- Attempted to connect to Shared Services, Workspace url's - YES
- Checked openLDAP & my Database is running - YES
- Added following to Configuration File :
SharedServicesLocation machinex 28080
AUTHENTICATIONMODULE CSS http://machinex:28080/interop/framework/getCSSConfigFile YES, but same error
- Changed essbase.bak to essbase.sec YES but same error
- netstat -an to check for 1423. Port 1423 is not listening, although ALL TCP Ports have been enabled. So YES but same error.
- Read Knowledgebase article # 954322.1 - the suggested things in there don't seem to apply to my case, unless I am missing something.
At this point does anybody have any suggestions ?

An update: Just for kicks, I tried restarting Essbase using Start->Programs-EPMSystem->Essbase->EssbaseServer->Essbase.bat and apparently now Essbase is started.
EAS, Studio and Planning however are down.

This is really strange. There is NOTHING that I changed, started or stopped which could have caused Essbase to start magically all of a sudden.
Any insights into the cause of all this ?

11.1.2 opmn_EPM_epmsystem1 service will not start after server move

Moved our 11.1.2 Windows 2008 SP2 (not R2) 64 bit machines from one domain to the other (test to prod) and reconfigured the repositories to the prod SQL server (2005). Configuration is all green yet the EPM_epmsystem1 will not go to started. It sticks at Starting and after some type of time out stops.
We run as administrator thinking that would be the problem but to no avail. We tried the delivered script but to no avail either.
In the E:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs\OPMN\opmn directory the opmn.log shows only this:

Its a VM Image and i havent sent any ipaddress in the host file too.
however i am unable to start the OPMN (epmsystem1) service too from services.msc and it throw below error

Error 1053: The server did not respond to the start or controle request in a timely fashion.
Please help i am unable to start essbase from any of them
