Starting FCP Unknown error 2

Hi,
I haven't used FCO on the MacPro since a week or so, mainly working with Motion and AE.
I just started FCP and as soon as I click the icon on the dock a little window comes out with FCP icon and "Unkown error" and next line " 2", with the button Quit on the right.
Once I click quit, it starts regularly and open up.
I've deleted user preferncers, Cache and also the pref file in Library prefernces but it still does the same...
I've search forum and Goggle but the only ones were related to a file problem, not starting...
Yesterday I re-installed 10.4.11 Combo update for a network problem, but everythong os fine except FCP.
Thank you in advance!
Piero

I find that explanation hard to believe. I've been having problems with my account since Tuesday (unable to access cart/1-click buy, after signing out I'm unable to sign back in) -- it is a fully qualified email address. But I created a new account with a different fully qualified email address as the account name and it works fine.
If you wouldn't mind, could you post the email you received from Apple tech support? Please don't include your account details, just the section which explains what happened.

  • Please help - iTunes won't start anymore: unknown error -69

    Hello out there,
please can anybody help me: all of a sudden my iTunes won't start any more - it only shows a message stating an unknown error -69 and then quits.
I did not change anything on my system before that, so I just don't know what could trigger that...
I am using iTunes 7.0.2 on Windows XP SP2, both German versions.
Before posting this question I searched the archives and tried the following, all to no avail:
    1. disabled "safe mode" in QuickTime audio options -> problem remains
    2. set speakers to "stereo headphones" in Windows sound options -> problem remains
    3. deinstalled iTunes, downloaded the installation file again and reinstalled it -> problem remains
    4. deinstalled iTunes and QuickTime, downloaded QuickTime stand-alone version, installed this and afterwards iTunes again -> problem remains
    5. deinstalled iTunes and QuickTime again, deleted all iTunes and QuickTime data folders, reinstalled everything again -> problem remains
    6. ran a CHKDSK an the drive iTunes is on -> no problems found
It still won't start, always giving this unknown error -69.
Please, does anybody know what to do?
Any hints and help are much appreciated!
    Thanks a lot
    and best regards

  • ITunes 9: Unknown error -15000 trying to stream to remote speakers

Some weeks ago, I started getting unknown error -15000 when I tried to stream music from my AEBSn to to remote speakers connected wirelessly to an AXn. I found Apple's iTunes 8 article on -15000, http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2277, that blamed old firmware, but I am using the latest versions. I've tried pulling power on both wireless units and rebooted the Mac hosting the music but no luck. A search through the posts showed nothing promising. Has anyone else seen this error or have any suggestions? My versions are:
    Mac OS 10.6.2
    iTunes 9.0.3
    AEBSn 7.4.2
    AXn 7.4.2
    Thanks, Will

  • Unknown error -50 (aperture photo sync issue)

    OK.
iPod touch 16Gb connected to MB Pro. Aperture 1.5.x (latest).
    The following happened:
    1) In aperture I changed my preview for other apps jpeg quality from 6 to 10.
    2) Next two times itunes tried to sync images to the touch it crashed (gave the unexpected error - report to apple crashreporter) in the "preparing images for the ipod" stage.
    3) After that - it started giving unknown error -36.
So - I did a factory reset. Full reset to 1.1.2.
First sync after that it gave the "Cannot be synced - unknown error -50" at sync of photos.
Now - each time I try to sync it instantly gives the same unknown -50 error.
Now - the cable etc is OK - it all syncs fine if I turn off photo sync.
So - I am guessing that something somewhere in some disk cache or similar is probably screwed - the prepared photos - but - I have no idea where to look on disk.

OK - turns out the cache is in a directory called
    iPod photo Cache
    ref:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300225
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301267
    and several others.
The trick for people using aperture is that this directory is inside the aperture library file (the .aplibrary file).
Having removed this directory itunes is now regenerating the optimized photos

  • 2.1 and Unknown error 13213

After upgrading my iPhone to 2.1 I started getting Unknown error 13213 messages. I found this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1701609&tstart=0 for the iPod and it seems to have fixed my iPhone.
    1. Power off iPhone and shut down iTunes 8.
    2. Start up iTunes.
    3. Leave iPhone off and plug in.
Phone will power up and sync normaly.

The workaround fixed the issue for me but if I have had to restart my iphone due to other 2.1 issues, the syncing problems comes back.
I am thinking of trying to figure out if I can downgrade back to 2.0.2.
    Any thoughts?

  • When I start iTunes, it shows this message: An unknown error occured (-42110).

An unknown error occured (-42110) pops up when starting iTunes.  However, everything seems to be fine.  This message pops up on my account, my husband's, my son but not my daughter.  Very irritating.  I have iTunes installed on another laptop and this does not happen.  I already uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it and still the message pops up.  How can I remove this message and what does it mean?  Thank you.
    Chris

    Try the following user tip:
iTunes for Windows 11.0.2.25 and 11.0.2.26: "Unknown error -42110" messages when launching iTunes

While upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 4.2 something went wrong and came up with the message "The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred  [1015]." Now it will not start at all. It just stays on screen with USB and the iTune picture. What can I do to get it going again. I only tried to upgrade because I was prompted to up-grade and now I am helpless. I did a backup before starting the upgrade. The error message did not tell what to do next.  Any help is very much appreciated.

Usually that means the iPhone was hacked to unlock it from the original
    carrier .
Updating the operating system locks it back to that original carrier
    You could try this
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
However if the iPhone was hacked it is probably a paper weight  now
and as this is an Apple hosted forum  you can get no further help here

  • Unknown Error when I Logging and Transfer P2 Card files in FCP 6.0.6

I have been trying for the past two week to Log and Transfer P2 files to my external hardrive using FCP 6.0.6 unsuccessfully.
Originally I tried to Log and Transfer directly from the Panasonic HPX-170 in between my shooting. The first time it was a success but from then on I always get the same Unknown Error when attempting to transfer. When I encountered the Unknown Error during the second transfer I went on to create folders with the P2 contents on my external Hard Drive.
When I drag any of the P2 folder content on the Log and Transfer window I can see all the clips. I can successfully transfer small B-roll clips I have but any big size file (all my interviews) return an Unknown Error symbol at the end of the transfer. I believe this is probably why I didn't encounter any issues during my first time.
I tried deleting the preferences in FCP and then Logging and Transfer and it works if the systems settings are set for the Mac Pro but not for the external HD. The problem is I don't have enough space on my Mac. I have cleared 45GB of space but my P2 files total 54GB. I tried the same process with a Mac Power Book with FCP 5.1.4 and again in encounter the same problem.
The external HD is a 1TB Western Digital that I have used before with FCP for editing but never before with P2 files. Its in good working order and has 79GB free space remaining. Both the camera and the P2 cards (16GB and 4GB) are also performing as expected.
    I would appreciate any suggestions.

#36 - One or More P2 files failed to import.
Shane's Stock Answer #36 - "One or more clips failed to import..."
Very often in the field with this camera the camera operator will delete clips from the P2 card that they just don't like. That is the beauty of this camera. But, the still for that video file (located in the CLIP folder in the CONTENTS folder)...the still that you see when you are in the P2 Import window...is not deleted. So you will see the image, and the name, but the video file would have been deleted.
What you can do it compare the file names in the VIDEO folder and CLIP folder and see if anything is missing. If something is, then you know what the problem is. You can then just import the rest a few at time, skipping that one.
ALSO...in the P2 Import window...in the P2 Browser, there is a little sprocket drop down menu. Click on that and choose PREFERENCES. Uncheck REMOVE PULLDOWN and then try importing again.
ALSO...make sure your file names aren't too long. Try shortening them and see if that works.
ALSO make sure that the folders that contain the CONTENTS folder doesn't have any odd characters like /!@#$%^&*()?.

  • How do I fix the "unknown error (-45054)" when starting iTunes?

  • Unknown Error when starting a MS Event

I am trying to view online the System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) and System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) webcast.  When I click on the link that was sent to me by MS after registering
for the event, I get the following error: "An unknown error occurred while processing your request. This is most likely due to a connection failure. Please try again."
Can someone tell me what I can do to view this?

Check the workflow container (of the started workflow instance) and see if you spot a problem with one of the container objects used in your switch conditions.

  • Unknown Error when starting the Group Policy Editor

On Windows 8.1 Professional, I opened the "Edit group policy" from the control panel and also tried to start gpedit.msc from an elevated CMD prompt. In both cases I get the following error message:
In English: Failed to open GPO. You may not have appropriate rights. Details: Unknown Error
There it is again - this dreaded "Unknown Error" message - telling me absolutely nothing about the cause of the problem.
In the past I have been able to launch the GPE on that machine without problems. I can absolutely not remember having messed around with the system files or registry settings. So there is no suspicious thing I could have done to break something. I had a
look at all copies of the GPEDIT.MSC in an editor but none of them looked broken in any way.
I startet C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MMC.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\GPEDIT.MSC using the debugger of Visual Studio and paused execution after the error dialog had poped up. I got this call stack:
gpedit.dll!ReportError(struct HWND__ *,unsigned long, unsigned int,...)    Unknown
      gpedit.dll!CComponentData::Load(struct IStream *)    Unknown
      mfc42u.dll!CWinApp::ProcessShellCommand(class CCommandLineInfo &)    Unknown
I had configured the debugger to break on all exceptions but as you see yourself, MMC is an MFC 4.2 app that doesn't use exceptions.
Since I get no access to the symbols of gpedit.dll, can anybody please tell me which conditions - i.e. problems - in Load() are handled by simply returning E_FAIL? What could be wrong with my machine?

    Hi,
Consider the corrupted local policy files and system files, please try these steps:
Step 1: clear local GP by running these commands:
    RD /S /Q "%WinDir%\System32\GroupPolicyUsers"
    RD /S /Q "%WinDir%\System32\GroupPolicy"
    gpupdate /force
Step 2: To scan system files by running this command as admin:
    SFC /SCANNOW
Andy error, please post back the CBS.log
Then, restart the computer to check the results.
Also, the event log (Open local event viewer) will show something related to this issue, please check event under
Windows log\Application and Applications and services log\Microsoft\Windows\Grouppolicy, post back if you find any error about this issue.

  • Itunes wont start unknown error (-69) and cyclic redundancy check

I use an ipod shuffle and am on itunes 6 (or 6.1 maybe) on my windows compaq presario laptop. I was burning a number of disc from itunes and all seemed ok. The shut the computer down and the next day came to do the same thing and itunes wouldn't start the application with an unknown error (-69). I am also getting a cyclic redundancy error when I try to delete some music or picture files now aswell. I have tried to uninstall itunes and reinstall but this hasn't helped. I thought I might delete all my music and pictures off the hard drive as they are also copied and stored on an external drive but it wont let me delete certain music and picture files now. Can anyone help. Have tried to do a CHKDSK on my pc but that's not helping either and it is running very slowly now. Anyone had the same problem and been able to resolve it??

When you install from a CD, that CD could have been manufactured several months prior, and not have the latest anti-virus definitions.
While an internet connection is probably the most common vector for an infection, its not the only possible one. Any CD, removable drive, etc could be the source for a virus.
Because the computer is also running slow, its possible you have other applications running in the background. Some of which may have been inadvertantly installed.

  • Itunes cannot start - unknown error 200.

I've installed the latest update to itunes and now it won't start. each time i click on itunes i get an error.
The iTunes application cannot be opened. An unknown error  occurred (-200).
I've tired to remove the plist file and see if it starts then, but after asking to accept the terms and conditions the same message came up.
    What should I try next?
    Thanks,

Turns out a good old restart fixed it
