Starting Itunes to play using MS Task Scheduler

Hello everybody
Does anyone know how to start Itunes and have it start play the party group using the Windows Task scheduler? I am using WinXP and the latest ITunes version.
I've tried 'itunes /play' which starts ITunes but it does not play.
is Itunes not capable of this? or am i using the wrong command line switch?
thanks for all your help in advance.

Hi LordTim,
>>However, I cannot get Access to load<<
How did you load the Access? Did you use Access object to automate the Access applicaiton?
If I understood correctly, did Access load successfully when you in a normal script?
If yes, I think the issue may relative to the Task Scheduler. I suggest that you get more effective response from
Windows Community forum about Task Scheduler issue.

  • Error when using Windows Task Scheduler in C#

I am using Windows Task Scheduler in my Visual C# application. I add the reference to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\taskschd.dll (on a 64-bit system), and Visual Studio creates a COM wrapper Interop.TaskScheduler.dll. Ths works fine on Windows 7. However, when
I run on Windows 8.1, I get the following error:
Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'TaskScheduler.IExecAction'.
This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID
'{4C3D624D-FD6B-49A3-B9B7-09CB3CD3F047}' failed due to the following error:
No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE)).
I noticed that on Windows 7, the above GUID exists in the registry under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Interface, with the value "IExecAction". But on Windows 8.1, there is no such GUID, and no key with value "IExecAction". I use IExecAction
    in my code.
When I develop on Windows 8.1, the program compiles, but at runtime I get the above error.

    Hello tomszms,
Here is a blog related to this issue and the troubleshoot steps of his error is very useful for your case, so please check for it:

Please try use the same way to track the logs and then try use the regsvr32
on your Win 8 machine to re-register that dll and see the result.

  • Running on appletv is affecting my mac - starts itunes songs playing

My wife will be surfing the web - with itunes open so I can do appletv, and when I start doing stuff, her mac starts playing and pausing songs on the itunes and often will go to FrontRow. We never installed FrontRow - I guess it either came with the new version of itunes we moved to or was activated by appletv.

The apple remote she is using on the tv is controlling your Mac as well. You can disable the Mac's infrared receiver to prevent this from happening as explained above. If your Mac came with a remote also then you could pair one remote to the Mac and another remote to the tv. If you have only one remote then pairing won't do any good. Disabling the ir receiver would be the best bet.
Also, if the option to turn off the IR receiver is grayed out, then click on the lock in the lower left, enter your admin password and the option will become available.
    Cheers

  • ITunes stops playing in Album View

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if iTunes has always been this way, but I never noticed this in iTunes 9. In Album View, if I'm listening to an album and start looking through the rest of my library, iTunes will finish playing the song it is currently playing then stop altogether. It won't move onto the next song on the album, I haven't clicked on any other song anywhere else in the library. Can I get it to keep playing the album I originally told it to until I click play on another album or song regardless of what album I am looking at while in Album View?
    Thanks

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
This really irritating behaviour is not new. It happens whenever you use the search field or the column browser to display a subsection of the library from the same playlist that is currently playing media. If the selection no longer includes the album you were playing everything grinds to a halt at the end of the current track. Either queue the album up in iTunes DJ or having started the album playing use a different playlist to explore or edit your library.

  • My 'Task Scheduler' won't display running tasks since updating Firefox yesterday.

When I use my Task Scheduler and select 'View all running tasks' I get "unavailable". The last succesfully recorded task history was immediately before upgrading to Firefox 23. What did you do!?!

My Task Scheduler is operating and starting the tasks it is supposed to start but I can't monitor the 'RunDuration'. After I upgraded to firefox 23 my mouse pointer would flicker whenever I hovered over text. I had to reboot to get that to stop. If I feel energetic later this week I will uninstall Firefox. If that resoves my problems then I can resore a System Image from Monday morning with Firefox 22 in it and I will never upgrade. I used Chrome for years until some 'genius' decided to double-space my bookmarks to make it more "tablet friendly" without any options for me to decide what I wanted. So here I am using Firefox and I am worried that Mozilla has genius programmers working for them too! Removing Firefox forces me to use IE-10 essentially knocking me into the browser stone-age.

  • Task Scheduler Security Option - Run if user is logged in or not

using Windows Server 208 R2 Terminal Server - Running .NET 4.0 programs
We are running .NET 4.0 Windows Forms programs using Task Scheduler with the Security Option - Run whether user is logged in or not.
When the Task Scheduler starts these jobs they either not not run or they fail.
    Questions:
    1. What shell is used by Task Scheduler with the setting "run whether user is logged in or not" ?
    2. Is there some way to detect this shell or environment in a .NET program?
I am trying to determine if I can modify the .NET programs so they will run in this shell with no errors.
    Thank you
    MisterT99

    Hi Mister,
In addition, Since you need to launch a GUI application through Task Scheduler, so this task also need to run interactively.
However, if the item "Run whether user is logged on or not" is selected, tasks will not run interactively, so we need to select the "Run only when user is logged".
I recommend you can change the item "Change user or group" in security option and add a group, which will make sure your application will run interactively for all users in the group when the users logon.

  • KM Task Scheduler , retrieve IPortalComponentRequest request

    Hello,
I would like to use KM Task Scheduler :
    public void run( String id, Properties properties ) {
         IPortalComponentRequest request;
         String location = request.getPublicResourcePath();
It's normal, it doesn't work ! How can I use IPortalComponentRequest for my schedule task ?
    Thanks a lot
    Best regards,
    Aurélien

    Aurelien,
ok then, place your xml file into any package of your project. For example:
In package called "my.package.files" place file "myfile.xml"
then wherever within your code (let's assume you have an class called MySchedullerTask) call next structure:
    URL url = MySchedullerTask.getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("my/package/files/myfile.xml");
and then work with the file.
Just one more note: non Java files are not build always into application PAR acrhive.
To do so, you have to check in option:
"Yes, I want the non java sources includet into the portal components jars"
You will find this option in NWDS:
Window -> Preferences -> SAP Enterprise Portal -> Application Development Studio.

  • Task scheduler calling a mapped network drive - excel file

    Server 2008 R2 Standard
User contacted me indicating that a task that is scheduled to run on their server is not working properly.  Supposedly it has run in the past.
Under the User account on the server they have a mapped drive K: that maps to
\\server\directory, it is a persistent map.
They stayed logged into the RDP session and just X out and leave it running.
The XML of the job is below but the basics are they are calling an excel spreadsheet configured with a Macro from the mapped drive.
The job is set to run whether user is logged on or not and run with highest privildeges.
The job action is to run the excel file through the mapping so Action: Start Program Details:  "K:\SQM....name.xls"
WE ARE GETTING ERROR:  The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003)
I'm being told can't run through UNC path as the marco writes alot of information to the K drive?
    Ideas?

logged into the server where the task is run as the said user when I did the checking for @Feng.
    Additional info
When I launch the task I get 6 events

  • Task scheduler missing from Restricted/Permitted snap-ins?

    Hi all,
We are using Active Directory 2008R2, and recently we have a issue about GPO. The situation is:
We enabled the  "Restrict users to the explicitly permitted list of snap-ins" for some users(Windows XP and Windows 7), it located at "User Configuration\Policies\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Microsoft Management Console". After then, these
users could not open task scheduler anymore, it noticed "The snap-in below, referenced in this document, has been restricted by policy. Contact your administrator for details."
I tried to enable permit use of task scheduler but just could not find it from "Restricted/Permitted snap-ins".
Is this sort of a bug or I went to the wrong place? Does anyone aware of this? Any feedback is appreciated!

    Hi,
Yes, there is no exist setting to explicitly permit Task Scheduler if you enabled "Restrict users to the explicitly permitted list of snap-ins". As a workground, you can use some custom adm file. You can refer to this link for a sample:
    http://www.mombu.com/microsoft/windows-group-policy/t-vista-mmc-task-scheduler-not-in-group-policy-3677534.html

  • Coldfusion task scheduler

I have been forced to migrate a coldfusion program to windows server for authentication security purposes.  I need to continue to use the task scheduler.  Security concerns also do not allow me to use IE to kick-off the coldfusion task scheduler.  If there any way to kick it off using a script without using a browser?

I think I am beginning to see what you are trying to describe.
Some things to make sure you clearly understand.
A ColdFusion scheduled task is nothing more then a HTTP request to a CFML file done at a scheduled time.  If you have ColdFusion make this HTTP request, it will use a built in 'browser' internal to the ColdFusion engine to make the request.  There is nothing preventing you from using any other system you want to make that HTTP request to the CFML file in some scheduled manner.
Secondly, you repeatedly talk about no browser (IE) allowed on the server.  The browser does not need to be on the server to configure a scheduled task.  Any browser on any system that can connect to the server can be used to configure the ColdFusion scheduled task.  But if you do configure the scheduled task through ColdFusion, then ColdFusion will be using it's internal system to make the HTTP request to the CFML file.
Now we get to what I think you are talking about though.  It sounds like you have locked down the server with Microsoft Windows Integrated Security and ColdFusion can not make these HTTP requests, because surpise suprise ColdFusion is not a Microsoft product and it does not use NTLM autentication.
What it can do is use is "Basic Security".  What usually happens now is that people say basic security is not good because it passes the user name and password in plain text in the request.  The idea here is that yes, the request is plain text, but it is expected that the entire request will then be encrypted with something like SSL.
The other common solution is to configure one small section of the web server, a certain directory or even just the specific scheduled task files, are configured to not use Windows integrated security.  You can then configure your web server to only allow connections from the local ColdFusion applicaiton server IP address and no others so that there is no way for anybody else to access these so called 'unsecured' files.
But, unfortunatly, there is no way to have ColdFusion make NTLM connections to Windows Integrated Security resources.
To sumerize your three choices are:
    1) Use some other techenology to make the HTTP requests on a scheduled basis to the CFML files.
    2) Use basic security combined with SSL and not Windows Integrated Security
    3) Don't use user authentication security, but lock down the scheduled task resources to only accept requests form the specific ColdFuiosn server.
P.S. I imagine one could combine the second and third options if one wanted to.

  • Executing powershell scripts via Task Scheduler

    Hi,
I have a powershell script that I wrote that when executed from the shell works fine but when executed from task scheduler does not work.
In my script, an email is sent out based on the results of the execution.  When I run this from the shell, email goes out, when scheduled, no email and there is no indication of errors having occurred anywhere in the system.
Has anyone run into a similar issue?
I did change my powershell execution policy to be unrestricted (both in the x86 and x64 consoles).  I am running Windows 2008 R2.
    Thanks - Greg.

To downgrade, you'll need to download the previous software version here: ATV3 http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-4361.20120605.grjot/AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830 _Restore.ipsw
    ATV2: http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-4362.20120605.t8i4U/AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830 _Restore.ipsw
Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again.
