Starting Lookout before windows log on.

Is there a way to have Lookout start before the Windows Log on? Example: The PC crashes at night and reboots it's self. With out someone to log on to windows, Lookout doesn't start. Any ideas? Thanks< Mark.

Hi Mark,
I don't think we can run any application before logging on to the system. So, one solution would be to setup an automatic logon. If this is a viable option for you, you can search the Net for how to setup your machine to automatically logon a pre-determined user. For Win9x systems there's a TweakUI utility from Microsoft and for NT there are registry entries that you must set.
Hope this helps,
Khalid

  • How to run a batch before window log off

We have a situation. We monitor an application very closely for failure rate. Many users are currently just logging off windows when leaving work. When they use windows log off it kills this application which intern return non-zero exit code(indicating application
    problem).
Is there a way to run a batch/powershell script to close application first(we have a method to close it gracefully) before log off process is triggered by windows 7.
We tried putting a routine in GPO log off script. But widows log off kills all applications before the routine has chance to run.
    Please help.

    Hi,
Create a batch file and insert the shutdown command in the last line. When you want to shutdown computer, just run this batch file.

  • My mac air won't start up.it is frozen right before the log on screen. It shut down fine the time before, what should I do? Does it have a safe mode like windows?

My Mac book air wont start up.it is freezing up right before the log on screen. It shut down properly. I cant figure out what could of caused this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Justin,
Are you getting to the Login screen? Or is freezing up on a blue screen? Are you still at the gray screen? Run any updates recently?
You can try Safe Boot/Mode and see if that does anything - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455
The next step would be to try and verify/repair Disk Permissions, but you'll need access to another computer for DVD/CD sharing or an external DVD drive.

  • Black screen with white texts before Windows start in Boot Camp

I just bought my Macbook 13" and installed Windows Vista in Boot Camp. Everything went fine, Windows run seamlessly with the native speed that's said. My only problem is when I start Windows, it goes through a black screen first with a lot of white texts. One is the message "Unrecognized partition table drive 80. Please rebuild using Microsoft Fdisk Tool." Among others, this message repeats a number of times before Windows start. I don't have any problem after that, except that it delay the start up. I have tried to change a lot of settings that is associated with start up, so far nothing work. Can somebody out there help.

Highlight the phrase and add "Mac" to it, and do a look-up in Google.
"Unrecognized partition table drive 80. Please rebuild using Microsoft Fdisk Tool."
That error is listed on other threads and Microsoft, just easier to find and link thru Google than Apple forum search.
Hopefully that will help. But I would boot from Vista DVD and go through the automatic system repair too.

  • Start program before login

    Hi,
I'm trying to run a mac-mini with no keyboard and mouse connected to a TV. I'd like to use my iPhone for control from the couch. This works fine if the autologin option is enabled as the server program the iPhone talks to loads when I login.
What I'd like is for the program (touchmouse server) to start before I log in. Anyone have any ideas how to make this program start before I login?
    Thanks in advance.
    Pedro

I would suggest making your program a service in Windows 2000. Microsoft sells the WIndows 2000 Resource kit which has some utilities to convert any executable to a service. I think there are some shareware utilities as well. Then, make sure your service has a taskbar interface (a cute little icon in the taskbar next to the clock). This may have to be done with some external programming, but I am not sure on this. You will also need to make sure that the NI-DAQ service starts before your service. I think this can be done with some registry edits.
If you get this finished and working well, please post back how you did it so that we can share this knowledge with other users of LabVIEW.

  • HP Simple Pass appears to have created its own Windows Log on Password

HP Pavillion M6 1035 Lap Top
    Windows 7 64-bit
Hi, I recently bough this computer and reluctantly (cause I knew it would cause a problem) agreed to let HP Simple Pass help me manage my passwords about a month into ownership.
When I originally set up my computer I did not create any passwords for the log on (no need for me to).  If prompted I just clicked enter.  As far as I remember, before I set up HP Simple Pass, I was not prompted to log on at start up or I just clicked enter and- it loaded straight to my desk top.  I certainly never had to type anything.
After using Simple Pass, I am prompted at log on for a password, or to swipe a finger. I've been using the finger swipe just fine but today decided it was a pain and I just want it back the way it was.  That is when I discovered that Windows thinks I have a Log on password.  I have tried any and all passwords I know, including all the ones I entered into Simple Pass. I have tried just hitting enter, "password", you name it and it won't let me on.  I can still gain access with the finger swipe but in the settings for the software it does not show any information about Windows Log On.  (You can for example view other account passwords, just nothing about Windows Log On).
I tried accessing it through my device manager and I found where I can disable this, but alas, I need the Windows logon password that Simple Pass [evidently] assigned.
Can someone please suggest what is going on?  I am sure this will lead to a problem in the future and I am so sick of trying to fix broken computers (hence why I bought a new one).
    Thank you in advance

I have only seen this a couple of times and I don't have the answer...
I do not know how you managed to set up SimplePass without a typed in Windows password.  OK, having said that:  if you have done it, then it's done.
I would suggest that you get yourself over to AuthenTec, sign up for their forum, and ask this question in the context of the SimplePass (maybe omitting the dislike of the product since it is, after all, their means of being in business).
Why do this?  Because I don't think it should have happened.  From the few entries I have seen on the AuthenTec forum, Miroslav Buran (at AuthenTec) is knowlegable in his field and may be able to help you straighten this out before it causes problems.
Be sure to explain that you are using HP SimplePass and let them know the exact version of the SmplePass Software to get the best help.  Tell them your Operating System / bit, too.
When SimplePass IS used in conjunction with a Windows password (as intended), it works very well as a rule.
I am sorry your introduction to the tool was rocky and your experience has been less than stellar.
I would be very interested in hearing how this is resolved.  If I find anything helpful, I will post back to you here.
    Kind Regards,
    Dragon-Fur

How do i remove the finder window from my start up desktop.

Are you saying that when you log in, there are finder windows open before you even do anything? If so, that's because last time you logged out you left them open. Next time close all your finder windows before you log out and you should be good.

  • DECREASED performance on K8T Neo after sitting at Windows Log In screen

I just built my Athlon64 system a couple of weeks ago, and I have been very happy with it so far.  You can see the specs below.  I am having a VERY strange sort of problem though.  When I boot the computer up, everything boots fine, and fast with no problems, but when I get to the Windows Log In screen, and DO NOT log in within about 5 to 10 minutes from the time the log in screen appears, the system performance absolutely drops to a crawl, and logging in takes FOREVER.  Applications and services take about 10 times longer to load, if at all.  Most of the time I can't even get it to finish the initial startup, and have to hit RESET to get it to respond.  I have never seen anything like this.
I am running Cool 'n Quiet (BIOS enabled, AMD patch in place) which seems to work when I am within Windows.  I will say that if I log in before this problem starts, the system is rock solid, and the performance is great.  No other issues of any kind - just this one, which is quite annoying.  It even happens if I log off of Windows, and don't log back in within a few minutes.
I am on a domain, and the domain controller is operating normally.  All other computers on the network respond normally and have no "log in performance" anxiety problems like my Athlon64 system.
Has anyone else seen such a thing?????  I am really confused.  I guess I am going to try disabling Cool 'n Quiet and see if that helps, but I sure hate to do that as I really like that feature.

I have loaded the driver that AMD specified to use with Windows XP from the amd.com website, and I changed the power settings to minimal.  Cool ' Quiet does work fine when I am logged in, but like I said it does somehow slow the computer WAY down when I let it sit at the log in screen.  Since I disabled Cool 'n Quiet in the BIOS, I haven't had any problems.
Thanks for the advice though.  I appreciate the help.

  • PC h8-1330a with NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 after windows log in black window with only mouse cursor

    Hi
PC is an h8-1330a, and the video card is a NVIDIA GeForce GT 630 with driver version 9.18.13.270 dated 29/08/13. connected to a samsung TV via HDMI cable. It is running windows 8.1 OS.
I have installed 1 additiona TV tuner card but otherwise the system is standard HP configuration as it was shipped.
I suspect I have had an automatic windows update mess with the pc as I turned it on and after reaching the windows log in screen and logging in, pc appears to boot into windows and I only see a black screen with the mouse cursor. I can ctrl+alt+del and see task manager but no other windows will display. I tried to switch users and log in with a different account and get the same issue.
I am struggling to enter safe mode or any other mode on boot up to see if i can roll back the video driver.
i have tried hitting esc then f11 to do a restore to no avail.
I cannot seem to enter safe mode on boot up via shift+f11 or f11.
my Dad has the same PC and is not seeing this issue.
wondering if anyone has any suggestions of things I can try?
hoping to try a software fix before trying different video cards/monitors to isolate the issue.
    cheers,
    andrew

If you use extensions like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flashblock</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.<br />
You can see the installed Firefox extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions".

  • How to start emctl in windows in silent mode.

    hi all,
I need to create a bat file on windows with the below commands.
    d:\orainf\bin\oidmon start
    d:\orainf\bin\oidctl server=oidldapd instance=1 start
    d:\orainf\dcm\bin\dcmctl start
    d:\orainf\bin\emctl start
    d:\ora9iAS\dcm\bin\dcmctl start -co OC4J_BI_Forms
    d:\ora9iAS\dcm\bin\dcmctl start -co "HTTP Server"
But the problem is the "emctl start" does not come out of the command prompt and I have to do a Ctrl+C to execute the next set of commands. But the same command works in silent(non interactive) mode in Unix.
Can anyone help me with this?
    thanks in Advance
    Bijesh

    hi Chris,
I think you are right. It is not a good idea to override normal start.
But in my case, if I use a start, I will not have control over the process and How will I know whether my emctl has started successfully before starting the next process?
    regards
