Starting off with Illustrator, best training?

I'm starting off with Illustrator and want to get some opinions about learning resources.
Has anyone tried out: http://www.vectordiary.com/ ?
They have a very affordable plan at around $ 25 / year. And it looks like there are good tutorials on there.
I'll consider Lynda.com but I'm on a tight budget, so $ 25 a year is a little much right now.
Also which book would be best for a beginner?:
Adobe Illustrator CC on Demand
Illustrator CC: Visual QuickStart Guide
Illustrator CC Digital Classroom ( most expensive )
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I really want to get into Illustrator seriously and I don't want to waste my time on a confusing training book.

A java book called:
Java How To Program (Covers Java 2 Introducing Swing) by Deitel & Deitel is good for starting off.

I'm confused. Are you saying that your mac came with an older version of OS X, but you want to be able to use OS X Lion, which you downloaded from the App store? If this is not the case, what do you mean by "I downloaded os x but my laptop started off with os x lion and i want os x lion back"? Specifically, what do you mean by "I downloaded OS X" if your mac came with Lion?

Help starting off with SharePoint Search

We are looking at ways to help narrow down search results. The system is being implemented to manage Policies, the managers manage policies using Word Documents and are stored in a Library, and the published documents are saved as PDF files and are stored
in another library.
is it possible to make it so end users can search only the published policy folder and give the managers to search both (ideally separately, depending on what they are working on). We are basically looking for ways to create more managed search
environments.

The way SharePoint Search works it to only show results for the "stuff" to which a user has access. So the users can get only those results for which they are intended to get. Other than that you can set refinement to get differnt types of metadata
filtered in search result.

My album i purchased a few months ago is not playing all the songs anymore. It will start off with one song playing and then sometimes not even half way it jumps to another song. I havent been on Itunes in awhile to mess with anything on that.

The album is Maroon 5 new cd. If anyone had problems with that. It is the only album that is not working right.

Also, make a backup to iTunes of the device. Then restore it as a new device. If you still have wi-fi greyed out, then contact Apple again, and explain that you believe you have a hardware issue. They may still ask for a $19 deposit, but if it is actually hardware related, then you won't be charged the $19. Only if it is software related do you get charged that $19.

Hello. This will be obvious to existing users! I have set up as a user with Game Center and wish to search for Games Center-compatible games. Tap on Games - yes. Tap on Search. Er..no. I have Games Rcommendations in a grid - nothing else. No buttons, no search capability. I have obviously missed something. Can anyone help?

Hi and thanks for your reply. p296 of the iPad user guide specifies that in the App Store you tap Games then Find Game Center Games and it is this option which doesn't seem to exist (unless I've missed something).

Help starting off with Flash animations?

I just started to make flash animations using Adobe Flash CS4, but there's something I just don't understand.
To create an animated object, I know I have to create a new movie clip symbol, animate it, and then put it in the main scene. But when I drag the symbol from the library to the main scene, only the first frame of the animation is copied! How can I copy the entire animation of a movie clip symbol to the main scene?

If I'm correct, you say that I should press enter to play the animation, but pressing enter does nothing when I'm in the main scene (in fact, the Play command under the Control tab is greyed out). Right now I can see how my animation is going by going to Control -> Test Movie, but then it creates a swf file and then plays it, which means I can't play from a specific frame (right now my animation is small so it's ok, but having to go through all of it when it's longer will be problematic!). Anyway, thanks for the replies.

Think about the methods that worked best for you when learning Photoshop. Apply the best of what you know about your style of learning, and do the same thing with Illustrator.
Which things worked best for *YOU*?
Online text-n-graphic tutorials? Videos? Physical books?
No matter what, though, you owe it to yourself to get a decent understanding of the basics. This means cracking open the Help files and learning the proper names for the tools and some of the basic functions. Then open up Illustrator, start a document and begin exploring and playing. Try every tool, explore every menu option. Get stuck? Look it up in the Help files.
By getting the basics downby whichever methods work best for your style of learning, when you need help with specific things at least you'll have a grip on the app. That'll enable you to ask good questions.

Starting Fresh With iTunes 9.0.1...best way to get music back in/import?

Had some library troubles with iTunes 9, and decided to do a clean install of not only the program, but of Snow Leopard itself. I was waiting on an iTunes update to come out before I decided to re-load my library in, since I didn't want to risk repeat problems (I've always been one of those bleeding edge-ers, and this is the 1st time I've ever had a problem/held back...guess I learned my lesson). 9.0.1 is out and seems to address the problems I'd been having, but I caught the "start fresh" bug and I want to start over with iTunes. No playlists, play counts, etc need to be saved.
I do have a full backup of my previous system (thanks SuperDuper!), and I'm wondering what the best way to get all of my music back into iTunes is.
-Do I use the Finder to simply drag the contents of my old "iTunes Music" folder into the new "iTunes Media" folder?
-Do I drag the whole folder and drop it onto the iTunes window? (I'm worried this method won't put iPhone apps, ringtones, audiobooks and podcasts in the right place).
-Do I use the import function?
Notes: prior to making the backup, I did upgrade to/select iTunes Media Organization
I did see THIS article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1451 but it says it's old and I wonder if it applies to iTunes 9.

You might want to check that your certificate that you made has been applied to iTunes.app
