Starting over with imatch

I want to start over with iMatch - how do delete my existing library then statt again

Hi,
Two options:
1. Select all tracks , ctrl click and select delete from pop up. Check delete from iCloud and the select keep rather than sending to trash. Next hold shift key whilsts turning of match. When you turn back on match your iTunes library should be empty apart from previous iTunes Store purchases. You can now add all your tracks. The process should be quicker than starting from new as match will remember previous matches and uploads. You will lose all previous play count and playlists data using this method.
2. If you want to keep play counts and playlist, you could try this. Create a new library by holding option key whilst opening itunes. Turn on match and select add this computer. When process is complete, you will see all the music that you have in the cloud. Select all tracks and delete - you will get message that you are removing tracks from cloud.
Once done, close iTunes. Reopen itune holding option key and select the original library. All your music whilst still be there but the iCloud status will now be "Removed". To see status, in song view go to menu> view > view options and tick.
You can now select what you want to put back into match. Do this by selecting the track, ctrl click and from pop up select add to cloud. Match will ignore those tracks with "Removed" iCloud status.

  • I have two Apple ID's and one is used for my iPhone, but I want to start using a different one. Will my library still retain the apps I bought or should I start over with a whole new iTunes library?

^^ that's the question... Want to delete the current and start over with the one I've already created, but want to keep all my songs and apps. Is it possible?

You can have apps and music from multiple IDs on your computer or your phone, but you will need the password for each one to install updates or to reload the content. You cannot merge the content from one ID into another, however.

    Hello cheech07,
The following article contains directions that can help get you back on track with iTunes. I'd recommend picking up at 'Part 5' of the 'External drive' section.

  • When I downloaded firefox someone else's bookmarks and homepage are there, it is a used computer. How can I "start over" with firefox?

I have tried deleting firefox from my computer entirely (I have a macbook). Then when I download it again, much later, it still acts like it knows what bookmarks and homepage I want. These were obviously set by someone else, and I want it to be fresh, I want to start over with a new firefox. I bought the computer used, and apparently firefox recognizes it as having been downloaded before and automatically adds stuff to it. It is annoying!!

The simplest method will be to create a new profile and delete the old one. User information such as bookmarks is stored in a profile folder. You can create and remove profiles by using the profile manager. First use the profile manager to create a new profile, then use it to delete the old profile.
For details on using the profile manager see the [[managing profiles]] article. An alternative site that can help is http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager

You'd have to ask Intuit. They might give you a cross-license to download and install the Mac version.

  • Starting Over with my macbook

I recently got a new macbook pro from work, and I have a macbook that is about two years old... runs great, but my wife is going to use my old macbook as her main computer (she has been using an old dell) while I use my pro as mine. I wanted to essentially start over with the macbook and give her a fresh computer, with none of the junk I had on it from work and school.
Is there a way to essentially start over and erase everything on my macbook hard drive? I want to do everything over, like when I booted it up for the first time... name the hard drive, redo settings, etc. Do I insert the startup disk and go from there? Any insight would be super helpful. Thanks!

    Hi SlickRick321,
You can do an erase & install of the HD and a clean install of the OS from the System Installation disc(s) that came with your computer. That will wipe everything out and startup the computer as though it was brand new (when the installation is completed).

  • Starting over with Users

I'm trying for various reasons to make my ibook and mini config match. I did this with a G3 and the IBook previously, but screwed up when setting up the mini.
What I need to do is recreate the ibook accounts in the same order on the mini. Is there away to just start over with brand new user accounts?

The long term goal is to have to computers on the network, with identical accounts and identical permissions, so that a user on one has the same accounts on the other, and can log in. This means the netid db has to be the same on both. I'm trying to replicate what I was told to do in this topic.
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1330775#1330775
Where you'll see according to that poster I need to have the accounts have identical names, be created in the same order before I can migrate them to get the results I want.
My understanding is also that using the accounts in system preference you can't change the first account created on the machine.
So what I think I'd like to do is trick the OS into thinking I haven't set up accounts and go through the procedure again.
If cloning would acheive this, I need to know how to do it. Do I replace the Users folder? Something higher up?
    Thanks

  • I want to delete folders in the email I want to start over with new folders

I want to delete the folders that appear on the left side column next to the email window..... I don't know how else to describe it. I saved folders that I now want to delete, or re label into new folders
    Gene

you are correct, I am using an email program...Yahoo!
I had created folders that line up on the left side of the page, next to the email inbox that is open with all the emails showing....I wanted to delete the folders and start over with new folders, without emptying them, or renaming them......
I kept trying, and found out that selecting the folder, and actually hitting the delete button on my keyboard.....and it worked!!! what do you know!...I thought there must have been a super secret keyboard trick...and I feel ashamed I didn't think of that(''selecting and typing the delete key'') before posting the question...I want desperately to reorganize my email, with customer names, before starting over with new folders.
    thanks for your quick response...anyway.

How to I completely delete my music in iCoud so I can start over with new play lists? I get the message that my files aren't music files. Can I see what is in my iCloud file?

Thank you Csound1, ok I guess I did manage to delete it but now when I copy new mp3 files they come as mpeg and iCoud won't accept them? Why? Do I have to convert them all now or can I set it somewhere to take them as mp3's. Appreciate the help. Have a great day! Cheers Steve

  • Starting over with my 5 yo MacBook

I purchased an "entry level" MacBook back in 2006. It's still plugging away. However, it's 5 years old and I have never upped the Ram (took a lot of stuff off though). I had been getting notifications that my disk was getting full, but haven't lately.
I'm thinking of just reinstalling the system and starting over with it. I had installed Tiger when it came out and I'm wondering, if I reinstall, can I also do the Tiger updates or will my installation code have expired or reset since I'm reinstalling the entire thing??
If I didn't explain myself well enough, let me know.

    jkesner:
I had been getting notifications that my disk was getting full, but haven't lately.
Running your computer with a too full HDD can result in irretrievable directory corruption and data loss. What is the total capacity of your HDD and how much of it is available disk capacity? (Select HD icon on desktop and Get Info (Command + I). This information will be helpful.
I'm thinking of just reinstalling the system and starting over with it.
Reinstalling Tiger is certainly an option. You might consider upgrading to Snow Leopard if your computer meets the technical specifications for Snow Leopard. However, before you undertake reinstallation of Tiger or upgrading the OS, I would want to be sure that your HDD is up to snuff, and is not too full.
You might also want to consider upgrading the RAM to 3GB, or at least 2GB.
Please post back with further questions/comments.

  • How do I start over with passwords?

On my old Mac Mini I knew my Apple ID and never had problems.
Now I have a new Mac Mini, it seems that I have different passwords for different tasks.
I had to create an iCloud password, which I don't remember.  I have to keep changing my Apple ID password because if I remember it on my new Mac Mini, I forget it on my iPad.  Then of course if I change it using my iPad, I have to remember that one when using the Mac Mini, and on and on it goes.  (Of course, writing them down would help but that's too simple.)
I would like to start over with my passwords and scrub the old (i.e. current) ones completely.  It feels like I'm forever enterting passwords and I can never tell which one it wants. And why can't my Apple ID password be the same as my iCloud password?  Then I'd find it easier to remember; or it wouldn't be so bad forgetting just one instead of two.  The whole thing gives me a headache.

The iCloud and Apple ID password can be the same. Mine are.

Just make them the same and then go to all your devices and sign out and sign back in with the new password.

  • How do I start over with my mac book pro

I used disk utility and found my hard drive to be corrupt. How do I start over and clean this up?

Backup your Users data off the computer to regular storage drive (not TimeMachine), hold c boot off the 10.6 and use Disk Utility to Erase with Zero the entire drive of everything, this will map off any bad sectors and if you have enough spares, the drive shoudl work fine again.
Reinstall OS X, setup with the same user name, Software Update until clear, install your programs from fresh sources and return files from the storage drive, don't use TM to restore it's also corrupted image, just have to start all over again.

  • Cleanly "Starting Over" with the Desktop Software (non-BES)

    Hi there,
With the advances in the RIM Desktop Software, there have been many posts about the upgrade process resulting in less than functional situations. The process I recommend is to cleanly start completely over, cleaning all remnants of the Desktop Software from the PC, and perhaps even clearing the content databases from the BlackBerry SmartPhone (on the assumption that the Desktop Organizer app has complete and correct data).
To do this, I suggest the following steps (insert plenty of reboots of your PC...not just restarts, but full power down reboots). Also, it is advised that you be logged into the PC on an account with full admin rights. Further, under Vista/Win7, use the "Run As Administrator" option for everything that you can. Additionally, if you are truly concerned about your data, then you should first copy (for Outlook, to a PST) your contacts, calendar, memos, and tasks...just to be sure, in case of something catastrophic.
There are some reports that a Windows user profile (type 'echo %userprofile%' in the command prompt) that contains spaces might cause the installer to fail. In order to solve this issue, log out of your Windows account and log back in using the local Administrator account (or any other account name without spaces, but with full admin rights) and install the desktop (for all users).
    1) Remove any/all BlackBerry Device Software package(s) from your PC
Add/remove programs, Uninstall, etc. depending on your Windows OS level
    2) Cleanly uninstall the RIM Desktop Software:
KB02206 How to perform a clean uninstall of BlackBerry Desktop Software
Some have reported the manual search and removal of RIM, BB, and Puma registry keys to be helpful.
Do not attempt this if you are at all unsure -- editing your registry incorrectly can render your entire PC useless!
Others have reported the use of a registry cleansing tool to also be helpful
Still others have reported the use of your original PIM (e.g., Outlook, NOTES, etc.) installation CD, running the "repair" process, to be helpful in some situations
    3) Get a fresh download of the RIM Desktop Software:
    http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
    4) Download (to your PC) a fresh copy of your BlackBerry Device Software package from your carrier -- it must be the version that your BlackBerry is already running (otherwise, the Desktop Software will attempt to change the version that is running on your BlackBerry):
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
KB23393 How to check the model number and version of installed BlackBerry device software on a BlackBerry smartphone
    5) Install the Desktop Software to your PC -- do not allow it to start
    6) Install (also to your PC), the BlackBerry Device Software package -- do not allow it to start the Desktop Software
If the package came from a carrier other than that for which your BlackBerry was originally manufactured, then after this install step completes, you must delete, from your PC, at least one copy, and possibly two, of VENDOR.XML.
One will for sure be here (or something quite similar, depending on your Windows OS):
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    The other might be here:
    c:\Users\<insert your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    7) Start the Desktop Software and connect your BlackBerry to your PC (USB) when prompted.
    8) OPTIONAL -- if you truly want a clean start over AND you are 100% sure that the data in your PC Desktop Organizer (e.g., Outlook) is accurate, then, at this point, you can clear the BlackBerry of all Organizer data so that you can start over fresh, using your PC Organizer data as master:
KB10167 How to clear the user content databases from the BlackBerry smartphone
    9) Start the organizer configuration over:
KB03315 How to synchronize organizer data (calendar, task list, memo list, and contact list) using the BlackBerry Desktop Software
If you are using Outlook AND multiple profiles, be sure to click the "Configure" button, inside of the Configure screen for each organizer app...that is how you select the proper profile for EACH Organizer component you are configuring.
Hopefully that will get things going again.
Good luck and let us know!

I am having the same problem syncing aftre having downloaded the new Desktop Manager and have tried most things.  Seem ridiculous that this amount of time needs to be wasted just because BB releases a new version before it is ready.
