Starting services for OBIEE Respository

Can making a few minor changes to a Logical BMM layer or the Presentation layer cause the services to not start up again?

It might in some cases if you have an initblock determining the value of a variable that is used as a fragmentation source. If you initblock fails the model might get invlaidated.
In general look for initblock failures at both repository and session levels.

Auto start BI Services for OBIEE 11G

Hi,
We have installed OBIEE 11.1.1.7 on Windows 2008 64 bit operating system and we have restarted the server after successful install.
Now the issue is OBIEE is not accessible after reboot,it is running only if i run the Start BI Services under All Programs --> Oracle Business Intelligence --> Start BI Services and
this not accessible once i log off from the server.
I don't want very time login and start the obiee using all programs,instead i want to install a Windows service that will all run the BI Services,so that Users can access the OBIEE independent of
my login.
I tried many times installing the services for Admin and BI Server but even though the services are install/running successfully,but still not able to access the OBIEE URL.

VZ won't start service for 7 days on a self install

Hoping someone can offer advice. I scheduled a self installation for a move online. I had fios st my old address, the new house is also wired for fios. VZ is telling me they can't start service at the new address until a tech visits the house.
I don't need a tech, I moved all of the equipment with me. I'm comfortable hooking it up myself. I only need VZ to flip the switch to provision service.
I've spoken with several customer service reps and managers and they tell me they can't do any thing for me without a technician on-site. The next available appointment is 9 days from now.
Cell service is not fantastic inside the house and I'm not comfortable leaving my wife and infant alone without a telephone. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Before the agent can begin assisting you, they will need to collect further information from you.Please go to your profile page for the forum, and look in the middle, right at the top where you will find an area titled "My Support Cases". Unable to start Oracle Process Manager from the windows services for OBIEE

Hi,
I have OBIEE 11g installed on a 32-bit windows machine. Of the two windows services installed, I am unable to start the Oracle Process Manager. When I try to start it I get the following error:
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
At the back end, this service is calling the file opmn.exe which is placed at MIDDLEWAREHOME\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin. On trying to execute this file the error we get is:
The procedure entry point longjmp could not be located in the dynamic link library orauts.dll
I have tried replacing the orauts.dll file, but to no avail.
Please let me know if you have any clue regarding what is to be done.

Hi Naman,
This error occurs for the following reasons,
*Path variable is not set properly
*Multiple Oracle homes exists in the same machine.
Follow the below steps and let me know if it works,
1. Select My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties
2. In the System Properties screen go to Advanced Tab
3. Click on Environment Variables
4. In the System Variables section select PATH variable & Click edit
5. Now you will find that it will contain invalid directories. Remove the incorrect entries. This may happen when you have multiple oracle homes in the same machine
6. Restart the service.

Windows Services for OBIEE 11G

Hi Guy's..
I have successfully installed OBIEE 11G Enterprise Edition and able to access OBIEE 11G via http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?bieehome&startPage=1 by only starting the 'Start BI Services'.
The issue what i am facing is OBIEE 11G is only opening/accessible when i logged in to server( Starting the 'Start BI Services').Once i logout then unable to login to OBIEE11G via above link.
Can any one tell me i am missing with any install/configuration steps in installing the OBIEE11G? Please guide to the chapter in documentation..
If not then why OBIEE 11G software is built with out included with Windows Services.
I mean 'OBIEE 11G Services' have to always running with out dependencies on 'User Logged In or not',My objective is to make OBIEE 11G always up and running..

Sequence of starting Services for dashboardtemplates.xml changes

In What sequence the services should be brought down and started to reflect changes made in dashboardtemplates.xml .
We have Websphere running in Unix box and cannot bring down entire Websphere since it host other applications as well. So is it ok to bring down only the application server hosting the application.

Cant start service for program located on D drive, after VM migration to vmware

Hi All,
Let me just explain a bit the problem that Im facing.
We've migration a couple of VMs from HyperV2012 to vmware. The migration was done (P2V from vmware).
Some of the VMs have services which startup files are located on D drive. The D drive had to be manually attached to the VM after the migration.
But then the following issue occurred. If a service has it exe files on drive D or any other drive except C, and is being runas a domain user doesnt want to start (error is: Access is denied.). The same happens for tasks that run programs located on other
drives which are started by a domain user.
Also the admin shares for D$ E$ etc... isnt available for the domain user.
This happens event for domain admins. The permissions are there, Iv checked that multiply times.
Anyone has an idea what is happening and how to fix the issue, and why suddenly the rest of the drives cant be accessed correctly?

To troubleshoot the "access denied" error on windows service, please try to use the
Process monitor and find the relevant error information to make the further troubleshooting.

Error in starting BI services of OBIEE 11g

while starting the BI services for OBIEE 11g. After entering the the user name and password for weblogic server. Iam getting as wls.alive. It is not proceeding and the process stops. The obiee page is not opening.

Seems your database listerner and opmnctl is down....first start these in your services pane and then try starting your BI server....but keep in mind close the admin tool if it is open .

Core window for Service for Dsktop Apps

After latest update to Creative Cloud, the following window is displayed after start-up:
I can kill in Task Manager. When I do, services pop-up displays Stopping Service for Desktop Apps. Followed immediately with Starting Service for Desktop Apps. The Core Window does not display this time. Apps and Cloud are fully accesible, but that Core Window is annoying. Has anyone observed this behavior besides me?
64-bit Windows 7

It seems the cloud-window is related to an inconsistency with Apple-Tools (the tools you have with an iphone).
Upon update today I got my "Core"-window again
So its either a bug by Adobe with Apple or vice versa - or so it seems.
Thank you Adobe/Apple for these problems.

Express 10g Install Hung at "Creating and starting services"

I'm running Win2003 Server trying to install 10g Express. It gets to the the step where it is saying "Creating and starting services for Oracle Database 10g Express Edition". It is stuck on this screen for at least a half hour as I'm writing this post. I believe on this box I've tried this before with the same result (it's been a little while).
Any advice? Does Express install in Win2003? Are there things I can check to make sure my previous attempt at installing Express isn't corrupting my current install attempt?

New Problem #2 - Listener Won't Start

But now my listener won't not start. After a lot of head scratching I guessed that the listener port 1521 might somehow be having a conflict with another program. I updated my listener.ora and tnsnames.ora to use port 6100 instead of 1521. I bounced my oracle services (through the Control Panel services manager) and this allowed my listener to start.
New Problem #3 - Can't Connect Using SqlPlus

Now that my listener is on port 6100 I can't seem to connect to my local Express instance using SqlPlus. Here's what I'm trying along with the error message:

Start BI Services as Windows Service in OBIEE 11g

Hello All,
We need to Automate the Start BI Services in OBIEE 11g.
The options that were tried from my side to achieve the same are as follows:
1) Creating Command files for Admin_Server and BI_Server
2) Creating Utility files installSvc_Admin.cmd and installSvc_BIServer.cmd.
3) Created the Boot file.
4) Ran the Command files.
Still i am unable to automate the Start BI Services. I have to manually Start the BI Services whenever i login to the RDC.
Pls help.

The batch files should be able to solve your problem.

When I tried to sync my iphone 4 and ipad in iturnes, an error message popped up saying this device cannot be used because Apple Mobile Device service is not started! What does that mean and how do I start service? I've had these devices for over a year and update and sync regularly and have never seen this message before!

I got that message yesterday. I'm new at this so don't know if this is the correct solution but it worked for me. I reset my iPod by holding the 2 buttons down until the apple appears AND I restarted my computer. After that everything worked.

with the same files from a backup or from another working instance.
3.Restart all OBIEE services.
