Starting the web dbm on RH fedora core 2

Hello all
I have installed the RPM package maxdb-web-7.5.0.23-1.i386.rpm
According to the online help
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/fe/389e3a85166506e10000000a114084/content.htm
i should now start the web dbm with:
/etc/rc.d/sdb-web start
but no such file exists.
What is next step ?

Dumb question : is one of your server listening on port 7001 ? If not, should it ?
What is the expected behavior ? A managed trying to connect to the admin server ?
Check the value for ADMIN_URL value, set in the startManagedServer.sh or cmd.
Another dumb question : do you have a firewall ?

Problem in starting the web-server after configuring .so on AIX

I am trying to configure a .so file in iplanet fasttrack web server 4.1 on AIX 4.3. I have build the .so file on IBM AIX 4.3. But while starting the web-server it failed to start.It fails when I include the following in obj.conf "Init fn="test-init" config="ConfigFile". While starting web-server I got the following :
server terminated (signal 11): watchdog is restarting it
failure: server initialization failed
Any pointers on this would be helpful.

I got similar errors in the past when the web server process was running in the background. Sometimes shutting down WAS does not work.
Before you start WAS ensure that no java process is running or better try rebooting.

How can i start the web analyzer to look the report

I created a query in Bex. And then i created the 'Web templates' for this query in WAD.
Now how can i start the Web Analyzer to look this query in the web. I want to see only through web analyzer.
So pls tell me how can i start the web analyzer. i mean step-by step method for opening the web analyzer and to look the report.

Hi Ravi.
The web analyzer is not used to open templates created in the WAD. If you want to open the query in the web analyzer you should open it by calling the 0ANALYZER template ID. I.e. http://server.domain.com:port/sap/bw/BEx?cmd=&template_id=0ANALYZER&sap-language=EN
Alternatively you can open the web template created in the WAD in the browser by clicking "Execute in the Browser..." or just enter the template ID in the URL provided above.

Are you sure there is not another web analysis web application process running, have you checked the processes running on the machine, you may have to kill or stop one of them to release the lock.

Probloms in starting the web server

i am a peoplesoft dba. i am trying to install peoplesoft internet architecture.
the O.S is windows 2000, database is oracle, application server is using Tuxedo
6.5. the web server is weblogic 6.12. i have installed all the components and
am able to log on to the peoplesoft application in 3-tier mode.
now i am trying to set-up the 3-tier web connection. i have created a domain -
VISTDEV. the JSL port is 9000, HTTP port is 80. when i am starting the PIA service
through --- startPIA.cmd under my domain, i am getting the following error:

I suppose you have set the SSL port to 443 however, it looks like port 443 is
already in use by another process.

Problem Starting the Web-Based Administrative Console

I have Installed Application Server 7 Platform Edition. Everything runs smooth. The Application Server and the Administrative Server got started perfectly. I checked both of these Servers and they are working perfectly.
The problem is that when trying to connect to the Web-Based Administrative Console.
I get the prompt to enter the Admin username and the password, once I have entered, it accepts but through the following message.
�Your Sun One Application Server License does not allow Remote Administration.
Please go to http://www.sun.com/upgradeas7 to upgrade your license.�
How can this happen because I am using the same machine where Application/Administrative Servers are running to get connected to Web-Based Administrative Console.

May be you can put an external breakpoint in the method "_get_attribute_rtti"(of class CL_WDR_CONTEXT_NODE_INFO).
From that you can find out which attribute is causing the dump , and try to solve the issue . May be some data dictionary object is not transported to production.(Assuming that you have permission to put breakpoints in production system..:))

Hi I've read a heap on the forum about the linux beta driver and the horror people seem to have to install it. I have no idea what I need to do to recompile a copy of the kernel so I am hoping there's someone with Fedora Core 7 that has got this driver to install that would be willing to help me out with it.

Short version of the fix:
1. Extract the edid from the Windows partition using softMCCS, saving as edid.bin
2. Save the edid.bin file in /etc/X11 (or wherever you like)
3. Include the following in the device section of your xorg.conf:
"Option" "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP-0"
"Option" "CustomEDID" "DFP-0:/etc/X11/edid.bin"
Fire up X and you're good to go.

Cannot start the Web Service i created via Services

I appreciate if someone could assist me please?
I have created a service, i can see the service i have created in the "Services". I am using Windows 8.1.
However when i try to start the service i get the error:
"Windows couldn't start the service on the Local Computer. Error 5: Access is denied".
I followed the guide below to ensure the user is part of the admin group but i still get the above error:

I did this by copying the contents of the App.config that i have in my web service project to the app.config in the Windows Service application that hosts my service.
I then ran the following command in VS2012 command prompt:
installutil.exe "Full Path To Window Service Host Exe"
Went into "Services" then I did right click > start. The service started up.

for instance, go to your domain home, cd config/jdbc , and grep for "jdbc/SOALocalTxDataSource" in the existing xml files
maybe for some reasons this DataSource was not created, or is not targeted/deployed, or the corresponding DB is not up and running, or there is some connectivity problem.... grep your log file for SOALocalTxDataSource, probably there is some error reporting that this DataSource could not be created because the DB is down....

Some tips, based on my experience:
1) Avoid logging in a root, unless you want to allow your Linux machine to be insecure (at least as insecure as any Windows machine);
2) Never run X11 as root, as X11 has some known insecurities. (X11 means gnome, KDE, and the other window managers.) It is failrly easy for bad gus to take over the machine when running X11 as root.;
3) Normally log in as a regular user and su to root, not log in to root and su to a user.
4) The xhost command needs to be run as the user that is running 'X11' because it tells the X program to allow requests from any user on the host specified. Running 'xhost +' means 'any host. Running xhost by rhe owner of the X11 process should be done before issuing the "export DISPLAY=:0.0" and running the request to use the X11 display (invoking the program);
5) A quick way of checking whether the permissions are set up properly is to run 'xeyes' at the command line. It seems to be almost always installed and sets up faster than most Oracle programs. (Ctrl-C to exit xeyes.)

Error on hosting the web application

I am developing a web application using servlets and jsp's and has been deploying this application in Tomcat web server. But now suddenly i am facing some problems in starting the web application.
When ever i start the Tomcat web server, the home page of tomcat is arriving and then when i go to any link in that home page, i am getting the following error.
End of the Tag in the run method.

I don't see applets mentioned in the supported features nor in the unsupported features so not sure if they are supported you would likely need to contact the operations team to confirm.

Starting a Web Application out of WAD from menue "Query/Execute" ...

Dear colleagues,
starting a Web Application (let's say its the template "BTMP_001") out of the Web Application Designer from menu "Query/Execute" starts the Web Query Analyzer instead of the Template "BTMP_001".
The URL looks like: http://<xxxxx>.<yyyyyy>.<zzzzzz>.com:<Port>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?TEMPLATE=BTMP_001&DUMMY=0
Does somebody have any hint? Why I allways get the Web Query Analyzer althoug the end of the URL shows the technical name of my web application?
