Starting to get mad against apple new products...

i have an iMac 27" early 2014... i got at in january just after it was out.. (exchange from apple for around the similar problem you'll read below and couldn't be resolved on a iMac 2013)
Now i have a Little / Big problem depending for who...
I was using my iMac, rebooted it  (like i need to do too often since that new machine) and there was the little surprise i couldn't boot at all and had the little icon with the folder and the " ? " inside... rebooted but could see the HDD in the list only my netboot and netinstall images from my server.
Restarted again from my USB installer go to disk utility (i could see the internal HDD), repaired permitions, checked the disk then click on startup disk choose the disk but nothing... still couldn't boot I tried to reboot with USB installer and got a sign " prohibed " (the round sign with the bar)...   then the machine shutted down ...
couldn't boot from an netboot images 10.8.5 just done a fresh install 10.9 on a USB HDD i'm now transfering my user (strange i could see the internal HDD) and will see what happens.
is there anybody with the same problem ?

  • Getting mad at apple

third time they screw me over!
First i buy this iPod mini.. month after that.. they make it cheaper.
Then i buy a 4G iPod 20gig.. month after that.. they make them with color screens SAME PRICE.
This time i waited.. so i bought a mac mini, (the new kinds) and what do i hear now.. NEW MAC MINI's this sacks sooooooo much.
For some people with enough of money it doensnt matter.. but i have to save up for MONTHS! and then they screw me over like this
    I'm so mad

Some good points made here - especially the advice about 'buying what you want and ignoring new developments.'
I bought a Mac mini just 3 weeks ago aware that it had recently been upated to 512MB etc just 5 weeks earlier. It's true that things move quickly in technology; but then again it's the same with everything.
I expect my toaster has been replaced several times since I bought mine; not to mention my kettle and fridge. Do I care? No.
Computers/iPods/mobiles are sometimes different to those of us who have a 'market awareness' of these things. With computers we could indeed wait for ever before buying: what about the move to Intel? I could have waited for that - but that's at least hanging on 'till next June; or maybe longer if it isn't the mini that is the first Mac to be 'Intelised.' Meanwhile, I'd still be waiting to 'cross the Rubycon' from Windows to OS X. At least now I'm 'onboard' and enjoying the experience.
I bought my Sony Ericsson smartphone when it was first released. In doing so, I didn't plan to upgrade it every five minutes - it wasn't cheap even on contract. It has been replaced twice since I bought mine, but it does what I want so I'm still happy.
That's the key issue with computers and other 'fast moving' technological items: as long as it fulfils the functions you require of it, then in effect it is the 'current model' in terms of everyday useage.
Since buying my Mac three people I know have looked at it admiringly: it's compactness, it's styling and the look of OS X on the screen. Not one of them has asked "what spec is it?"
...By the way Bonnie, I like your allusion to 'group therapy.' I wonder what Freud would make of this?

CS4 won't start up on my new computer. The error message I get is "Licensing for this product has stopped working."  Both the old and new computer are MACs and the error code I get is 150:30.  It says to restart the computer or open another application in the suite, but neither helps.  It says if nothing helps to contact Adobe support, but this is the only way I'm given to contact adobe support.  Can I really not use my purchased software on my new computer?  What do I do to activate the license on the new computer?

I am having same problem with apple tv need 4.4 version and can not find solution this a brand new product out of box yesterday why would it not already have updated version. I am getting frustrated that I can not get this mirroring icon to work. I have tried all suggestions in this thread and nothing works. I also hooked up to laptop through iTunes with micro USB nothing!!!

The new appletv software came out 2 or 3 days ago, how would Apple get it on the device in the box in a store?
Why don't ou update the appletv software?

I have a problem with my new Apple Air. It usually takes few seconds for the laptop to be untouched in order to be locked. So, sometimes when the screen starts to get dim in order to lock, I immediately touch the keypad to avoid locking the laptop, the result is a black screen appears with no responding to anything from pressing the keyboard to pressing the touchpad. It takes few minutes for the laptop to open again and then a message appears saying that there was a problem with the lock security.
    What is happening exactly?

It sounds like your sleep timers are set to too low of a value.  Go to System Preferences -> Energy Saver and set both timers to longer times.  The computer sleep timer should be a longer time than the display sleep timer.

  • PBT wont start up passed the grey apple logo, I get a very weird

PBT 400mhz wont start up passed the grey apple logo, I get a very weird symbol after 5 minutes of the logo. I get the "NOT" symbol. A circle with the line through it, then it just locks up forever.
Booting from a Tiger DVD gets a boot but sees no Hard drive or rather it says "an install error occured". (i was hoping an Tiger upgrade would fix the problem..)
Brand new hard drive with 10.3.x was very recently installed w/no problems. Any ideas?

Oh I picked the ATARI 2800 format! Ooops!
Of course I picked the Mac OS Extended...
Well, you might be surprised to know how many people don't. One has to ask.
There was NO SMART status as I believ its not on 2.5" drives (?).
Not true. Some have SMART built in; others don't. Lately they all do. Jaguar may not support SMART (I don't recall), but Panther and Tiger do if your drive is equipped with it.
Installer disks are fine I use them to install on used macs to sell all the time...
...which, to all appearances, makes you a flagrant, repeat violator of Apple's licensing agreement and of the laws against software piracy. Probably not a good idea to advertise this here in Apple's house.
As for your LB error message in AHT, I'd hazard a guess (because your hard drive no longer appears) that it might have something to do with the ATA controller on the LB. Perhaps the controller was gagging intermittently for a while before its final complete collapse, which may now have occurred. Replacing the board is the remedy.

  • 2007 iMac freezes up, rainbow wheel appears when this happens. I know the computer is starting to get old but I can't afford a new one at this time and would love to continue using my Mac, but it's frustrating. Would a fresh install or OS upgrade resolve?

My circa 2007 iMac freezes up, and rainbow wheel appears when this happens. I know the computer is starting to get old but I can't afford a new one at this time and would love to continue using my Mac, but it's frustrating. Most of the time I ONLY have 1 thing open at a time, and keep my tabs down to a minimum. I bought this to do film editing on but with it acting like this I cannot do that. I know I need a ram upgrade (currently running 2 gb) and my OS is old, 10.5.8, but I think even with it being a bit outdated it should run better than this. Would a fresh install or OS upgrade resolve this? Or any other suggestions to keep this clunker chugging along for a little while longer?

How full is the hard drive?
Do you run any virus software or hard drive "cleaner" software like MacKeeper?
If your model is from 2007 you can install up to 6 GBs of RAM.
2 GBs is the barest of minimum RAM for OS X to run on.
Especially if doing video work. You simply do not have sufficient RAM.
Also OS X 10.5.8 Leopard support ended around 2009.
You could update to OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, at least.
It is available on disc from the Apple store for U.S. $19.99.
I Would seriously upgrade your iMac's RAM to the max. 6 GBs before doing this.
Reliable Mac RAM can be purchase from online Mac RAM source Crucial memory or OWC ( also known as macsales).

    Hey kevyg3,
I was able to find an article that I believe will help you move your iTunes purchases from your iPhone over to your new computer:

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We're users here and do not speak for "Apple Inc."
Power on the computer and insert the DVD immediately.
Hold down the 'C' key to boot from the Snow Leopard DVD.

After selecting the appropriate language, if necessary, select Utilities, and Disk Utility.
You'll likely need to partition and format the new drive before it's recognized.

Last time I opened ITunes, was told I did not have latest version and proceeded to download new version.  As it was loaded, keep getting message that Apple Mobile Devices failed to start, verify that I have sufficient privileges to start system services.  I am the only user on the computer and in household. I have tried installing several timees and keep getting same message.
    What should I do?

    Hey CarleneS,
First, I would try the steps in here:
How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
If you end up having to remove and reinstall iTunes, make sure you follow all of the steps in this link:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
This section contains information that might help your situation, as the order and manner which you uninstall has an effect on the outcome:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

  • HT4061 I have an iphone 3gs - the new ios 6.1 (?) upgrade has inabled my phone. I get a white apple on the screen. can't reset phone - doesn't work. what can I do besides take phone into Apple?

I have an iphone 3gs - yes, an older iphone.
This morning apple had a msg that asked if I wanted to upgrade to the new ios 6.1 (?).  I said yes.  Now I can't use my phone.  I've tried hitting the power and other buttons.  I get a white apple on the screen. can't reset phone - doesn't work. what can I do besides take phone into Apple?  This *****!  I realize (now from reading internet) that my phone/system may be uncompatible.  Help!

I have a 3GS (a true classic design!) and have upgraded it to 6.1 today.  The process did not go without a glitch - it took a few attempts to get the app's to sync but after detecting the ones causing an issue and deleting them it works - so far!  I have had issues about 50% of the numerous times a new OS is uploaded to this phone and always take the new OS with trepidation.  But at least you know there is a 3GS with 6.1 working OK.
I suggest you do a fresh restart to the phone several times - without it being connected to the computer - to see if it gets its act together and starts.  I think it will.  Hold down the top 'power' button and front round control button until it shuts down - goes blank and dead.  Then press the top power button to re-activate - reboot - it.
If that does not work then plug into your itunes computer, navigate in iTunes to see your iPhone and hopefully you will be able to sync it or at least 'restore iPhone' from the 'summary' tab.
If you can not get onto the iphone perhaps you will still be able to sync if in iTunes by going - 'file' - 'devices' - 'sync iphone' or failing that try transfer purchases' and ultimately 'restore from back-up'.
I had technical problems with my old 3GS (suffered a failed wireless antenna) so I took it to an Apple Store and they issued me with a service-replacement/reconditioned phone for a very modest charge.  So if worst come to the worst get a new phone that way!

I eagerly went to view video on Apple's new products, such as the iWatch, but I cannot get the video to play.

I am on a 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7 iMac with 8 GB of memory running Mac OS 10.6.8

    Hi ..
It's not the website that's the issue.
If your Mac is running v10.6.8 Snow Leopard, that OS X is outdated as well as the version of Safari that runs on v10.6.8.
Apple Kills Snow Leopard: OS X 10.6 No Longer Receives Security Updates
See if your Mac can upgrade to Mavericks >  OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
That would also install a newer version of Safari so you can view the Apple product videos.
Mavericks is free and available at the App Store.
