Starting up from hibernatio​n when lid opens

I just recently bought a new satellite A665-S6050 laptop and configured it to go into hibernation (in the control panel) when I close the lid.  According to the Toshiba User Guide on the computer (p.94), it states that "If you put the computer in Hibernation mode by closing the display panel, you can start it again by opening the display panel".  When I open the lid (display panel), NOTHING happens - I must push the power button and then it boots up.  It's no big deal to push the power button, but I'm concerned that if it is supposed to power up by itself when I open the lid, then something is wrong with the computer or with Windows.  I have a 7 year old Toshiba laptop that starts up when I open the lid (Windows XP).
I've called Toshiba Tech Support twice - the first person told me that it sounds like Windows wasn't installed completely and that is why it won't start up when the lid opens.  I'm thinking if Windows may not have been fully installed, then what else is going to go wrong?  The second tech person told me that myToshiba laptop is not supposed to start automatically when I lift the lid - I must push the power button.
Consequently, I am completely confused!  Which person is correct?  Could others with this model or similar newer models please let me know if their machines start up by themselves when they open the lid or if they must push the power button each time.

No driver or BIOS will fix this.  This is the normal behavior. 
Here is how it works.
  AC Power:  You close the LID it will hibernate.  Open the Lid it will power back on. 
  Battery Power: You close the LID it will hibernate.  Open the Lid it will not power back on. 
  Combinations I believe it will behave like Battery Power. 
Reason behind the change is battery power.  They do not want you to power back to your document with a low battery.  Chop it up to the possibility of lost of data.  Like many other Computer manufactures they are paranoid of being sued.   
I had asked this same question a while back.  I also checked it out on the same model you have.  I confirmed the first two scenarios above.  It works just as I listed it above. 
I hope this helps.  I think you machine is working normally.  This should apply to all current models and future models unless they change the spec.  I guess the second tech was somewhat right, but he should of explained it so you understood it.
