"starting up service registry" makes InDesign crash?

I am trying to run a trail version of CS5 InDesign from my Mac tower. 10.5.8 version of OSX.
Other program like Photoshop open no problem, but Indesign crashes when the intializing window gets to "starting up service registry".
What does this mean? How do I get InDesign to open?
his is the 2nd free trial I have installed - I have uninstalled it twice.
I would buy it - but given the problems I am having I am very reluctant to invest. This project seemed like a good opportunity to test it out.

This is very often associated withthe SING system. The knowledgebase has little about it for CS5, but check out http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/328/328886.html and http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408816.html
You may find some more advice on disabling the SING plugin (only required for working with Asian languages) or renaming the SING folder if you do a search on this forum for SING. Use the localized search widget onthe discussions page, rather than the general search at the top of all pages:

I have installed CS4 server release and trying to start from console. It gets up to "starting up service registry" and then it crashes.

Launch of program stalls out at Starting up Service Registry

When I go to launch the InDesign program, it starts to load then stalls at the Starting Up Service Registry point and won't finish loading. I've tried to reinstall but it made no difference. How can I fix this?

I'm running an Alienware M17XR3 with Intel Core i7-2820QM CPU @ 2.30GHz, 8 GB of Ram on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system. I've had to uninstall the InDesign program since it was failing to finish loading and started to cause general problems with my computer and other programs. After uninstalling and selecting to include preferences in the uninstall then deleting C:\Users\(my user name)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\InDesign file, I reinstalled the program from Adobe Application Manager and its still not loading completely.
This is where it stops and sits forever. Why won't it finish loading?

InDesign CS4 keeps crashing at startup "Starting up Service Registry"

I just downloaded and istalled InDesign CS4 trial and it keeps crashing when ever I try to launch the program. I also installed the update. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate. Any ideas of how to fix the problem? Thanks a lot.

Indesign Crash consistently while resizing frame

Hi,
I'm helping a company which publish a review every month with InDesign. The entire document is divided into three columns. Only some titles cover the 3 columns. That seems to be these titles which makes Indesign crashing. As soon as I resize a frame just above this kind of title Indesign crash instantly. I thought about paragraph style, links, layers, but all my tests has been uneffective, impossible to find the reason why Indesign crash. Does someone have an idea to help dealing with it ?

Thanks IIIasss, yes, I did some research over the web to find some similar questions. I found lot of people having problems with Indesign, crashes and other issues but no one has the same problem as mine. Sometimes they report a crash when app starts, but I have never found the same problem as mine.

Re-threading text causes InDesign crash

What makes InDesign CS3 crash when I'm rethreading text? Does anyone know? I've asked this question before but have not gotten a response.
My fonts are in good shape. I'm still using Tiger, I have tons of RAM. So those things are not at issue.
Here's my workflow: I have a long text that's flowing in boxes, but I want to rethread it into a different set of box threads. The new set is already set up, empty text boxes in a template, threaded. So all I want to do is click on the out-port of the old boxes and click inside the empty new boxes and have the text pop in there. Pretty simple, no? BUT 90% of the time the minute I click on the new empty box, InDesign crashes. I'm trying to figure out what's making it do that because there's about 10% of the time when it doesn't crash.
Does it matter if the box into which the text is being threaded has any guides going across?
Does it matter what font and/or font size is specified in the new box? For example if the font size is way over what could fit into the box size, would that make InDesign crash?
Is something entirely different causing this behavior?
Any insight into this would be much appreciated.

If you dont like linking text boxes - I don't like to link a lot as its time consuming! I use InDemand from www.mymacmac.com to flow in text. it has some sort of intuitive placement scheme that allows you to declare which text frames are live and then place, collect or clear their contents in human readable order.
Saved me - I hated having 48 linked product text boxes - this means i can move the text and images about the page to where I want and the box is treaded as if it was in a new link order.

Failed to install Oracle Service Registry

I tried to install OSR 10.1.3.1 before deploying AIA, however, the installation is not going on smoothly...
* I am doing this through VMWAre environment (RHEL5, SOA Suite 10.1.3.3, Oracle DB 10.2.0.2)
I have encountered several issues:
1) the installation screen are not properly formatted, and most of the information is actually missing...
2) at the beginning of the installation, i received a message: null, Installation Failed.
besides that, I would like to ask which ORACLE_HOME should we point to? the one for database or SOA?

Please follow the below procedure for successfull installation of Service Registry
Create a Schema in the database to accommodate the registry.
Connect system/welcome1 as sysdba;
a. Create schema uddi identified by welcome1;
b. Grant connect,resource to uddi;
1. Start Oracle service registry by tying the following command in the command prompt
Java –jar oracle-service-registry-10.1.3.1.jar
2. Select Standalone Registry.
3. Select the path D:\oracle\registry_10_1_3 for registry.
4. Specify Administrator account details.
( note:keep user name as admin for successfull insatallation)
Administrator Username: Admin
Administrator Password: ********
Confirm Password: *******
Administrator Email:
5. Select Create Schema, choose Oracle 9i and later option
6. Provide Database details
Database Server address: ********
Database Server port: 1521
Existing Database Name: *******
Database User: uddi

7. Check create data source in the application server.
8. Select JDBC Drivers under middle tier of SOA suite

Indesign is stuck on executing start up services

Having trouble starting Indesign. It is stuck on "executing start up services" and just stays there. Tried re installing it since it had the recent update, and also tried running as admin just in case and no luck. Using Creative Cloud, dunno if that makes a difference but photoshop and illustrator boot up very quickly.

InDesign Crashing on start

Hello,
I'm starting InDesign 5.5 in OS X 10.8.2 and whenever I start the app, it hangs.
I've taken a sample via Activity Monitor and have pasted the result here: http://pastebin.com/ppAhY4b5
I've tried deleting SING and Adobefnt*.lst, which has not helped. Oh, and I've also run "sudo update_dyld_shared_cache -force" to no effect.

Did it ever start properly? If not, it probably never wrote the prefs, but hers' how to repalce them: Replace Your Preferences
If you want to try reinstalling, that's a valid thing to do, too, but I'd try a new user account, first, to be sure it hangs there, too, or you're just wasting your time. If it works in a new user, see Adobe Forums: InDesign crashes at startup for a list of other files to try removing from your first user account.
