Can not start Visual Administrator (halt at 99%)
Hi,
When I start Visual Administrator, its status halt at 99%.
Visual Administrator can not open normally.
The version is EP7.0 SP11.
Could anyone help me? thanks!Hi Chai Ming,
Can you see anything in the log files? Perhaps it's a permissions issue?
Try creating a brand new connection from scratch rather than using the default and connect using that and generaly a server restart will do the trick in fixing it. Although clearly this is not a long term solution.
Visual Administrator is being replaced by the web administrator located http://<host>:<port>/nwa.
If you cannot restart or find a fix you might like to simply start using the webinterface when possible.
Not a solution I know, but thought the tip might help.

NPE starting Visual Administrator.
I have a new install of R3 Enterprise 4.7 and have added J2EE. Everything is working for me (interact with SAP GUI, browse to the J@EE Start page, etc) except that I get an NPE when invoking the Visual Administrator to install the license. There's no info in the exception, just the line number (ClusterView.java:452). When the UI comes up the only item in any of the trees that can be expanded is Global Configuration -> Dispatcher. Has anyone ever seen this?
thanks
~johnHello John,
Two things:
Was the install done without any errors/exception , check the sapinst.log
and..
Have you checked the functionality of activating the emergency user ? -
Unable to start Visual administrator after license expiration
Hi,
I have EP 6.0 installed on a dual stack and on SP14. I fotgot to install the license and now my license has expired. I wanted to install license and wanted to start my visual administrator it gives me the following error.
srv006:w00adm 28> ./go
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
I get the same error while starting configtool too.
Can someone help me on this
ManojHi Manoj
From the error message it looks like the Java Runtime is not properly installed. Any Java Runtime above 1.4.2 should be good.
Also ensure that the <b>JAVA_HOME</b> is correctly configured.
Once the above is done,to successfully login to Visual Admin you need to restart the instance.
Hope the above helps

Thanks in advance,
Sailesh KHi, Sailesh
One reason might be the setting of Unix X11 - DISPLAY variable.
Please check whether you can execute other GUI application. Xclock
or something like that.
And please check the environment variable DISPLAY is set correctly.

Visual Administrator - Login Problem
hi all,
I am having problem starting visual administrator.since i am a new user here, i am provided with the user id/password ( not Administrator UID/PW ) and told that it has necessary authorizations.
when i try to start the VA by using my UID/PW and given connection paramters with the http port 55000,
Getting an error- unable to look up a connection "name i gave"
unable to lookup connection with the parameters "name i gave : port"
Lookup connection via message server - ( i chose this option while creating connetion paramters )
Direct connection to a dispatcher node
what am i doing wrong ? don't i have necessary permissions or i need to use the administrator and password ?
And we have two instances ( MD1 & MD2 ) running on the same server..how do i get the diiferent instance in VA by giving the same http port 55000 ?
I am not able to login..please help.
AddyNicholls,
I mentioned it wrongly..The P4 port was 55004 only..but the message server port shows only 3960.
> The Java message server port is normally 81xx, where xx is the instance number of SCS. I can't guess what that value is, but it is often 1 number higher than the CI number (in your case 50, which means SCS of 51).
The CI is 50..but why do we calculate 81xx ? And i always check the system info page only for any port information..that shows me only 3960.
Is it how we need to calculate for message port ( 81xx )...I was not knowing that..!
Now, I tried with 8151 also as per your guidance..but, no luck..:-(
Thanks!

Visual Administrator problem while running DB2
Hi,
I'm using the Sneak Preview of SAP Web AS 630. I want to use a DB2 a application database. I've installed SAP Web AS and DB2 at one Win2000 PC.
When I'm starting Visual Administrator while DB2 is running the progress bar runs to 99% and stops. I'm seeing the tree of the Dispatcher only. When DB2 is stopped the Visual Administrator works as wanted.
Any ideas?Hello,
I got the solution:
DB2 uses in default configuration Port 50000.
SAP WebAS uses in default configuration Port 50000 (http) and Port 50001 (ssl). With the config tool you may reconfigure it to 60000/60001 maybe.

Visual Administrator Go Script Missing
I want to start Visual Administrator but script go.sh is not in /usr/sap/sid/JS25/j2ee/admin. Is there another way to start VA or wonder why the script is not in the directory. OS is Solaris 10.
Thanks in advance
MartinHi,
Do u have atleast go.bat?
If you know how to write shell scripts, you can write your own go.sh based on go.bat or just copy , paste go.sh from another installation, that is also okay.
But frankly its scary when you say, you dont find go. If one thing has been screwed with installation something else could have been screwed. Did you go through post installation sequence to check if Portal has been installed correctly. This is detailed in sap documentation.

HI, Unable to connect Visual administrator plz help me to this issue.
Installed SAP XI System every thing is fine except visual administrator,i am getting following error,
unable to lookup connection default.
http://sap:8101/msgserver/text/logon returned list of connection parametersHi-
You can use the template installer to do the post installtion for XI
To start Visual administrator execute the go.bat file.
You can find this file in j2ee admin folder.
J2ee+ ABAP Engine
C:\usr\sap\<SAPSID>\DVEBMGS<xx>\j2ee\admin\go.bat
J2EE Engine
C:\usr\sap\<SAPSID>\JC<xx>\j2ee\admin\go.bat
So here you can log on to Your Visual Administrator.

Monitoring service in Visual Administrator
Hello all,
In my Netweaver 04 SP 24 portal system, I start Visual Administrator and go to Cluster --> Services --> Monitoring. Under tab Runtime and then Monitor Tree, I expand the Root node. Under it, nodes Applications and System are in white ( and all their sub-nodes read "No value has been reported yet"
Under node Kernel, Licensing Manager and Locking Manager are in White Status while all other nodes are active ( have green , red or yellow colour)
Same situation for some nodes under node Performance and node Services
Any idea how I can activate those monitors so that they actually report data?
Many thanks
AndreasSunny thanks, that is helpful
From what I read in the link you sent to me, if the status is white and there are no values reported, then the monitors do not work, which is my case. How can I activate those monitors? I tried to right click and update or click on configuration and Edit and then Save, but nothing happened
Many thanks
