Starting WinGui with SSF unable to CLOSE the browser window

Hello,
I'm using the following URL to use an iView which is starting WinGui
with SSF
http://<fullhostname>:50000/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fR3_SSO
The portal is EP 7 SP 9
R3_SSO is a transactional iView with SSF to the R3 system SMEN transaction.
When I try to use the above URL, I get a popup message saying:
"The Web page you are viewing is trying to close the window"
"Do you want to close this window ?"
This popup message is ANNOYing the users.
How do I make this popup window NOT to appear at all ?
Is note #973951 relevant (as this is NOT a BLANK page) and the window does close after pressing YES in the popup window ?
Note 973951 - Starting WinGui with SSF leaves useless blank browser window
Please, advise.
Kind regards,
Gil

Can you please let me know what solution SAP gave when you opened an OSS note.
I am facing a similar problem with (BW 7.0 EHP1) which is the latest SP. But this issue is still there.
thank you

  • With Safari 5.1, I have to re-login after I close the browser window

    After I upgraded to Safari 5.1 from the previous version, I noticed some changes that I do not like.  Whenever I close the Safari browser window and later open it up again, I have to re-login to all websites that require login (such as ebay, Facebook, my Yahoo).  With the previous version of Safari, this only happened when I quit Safari and reopened the application afterwards.  With the new version, I even have to set my default location on Google Maps every time after I close the browser window.  With the previous Safari version, that didn't even happen after I quit out of it.  Another thing I noticed is that the browsing history starts listing again after I close a window, even though Private Browsing remains checked.
    Is there a setting I can change to avoid having to re-login every time I close a window ?  Or is this a feature of Safari 5.1 that cannot be changed ?

    If you have Private Browsing enabled, that's why you aren't staying logged into websites. Same with Google maps.
    Private Browsing doesn't  "remember" AutoFill information.
    Click History in the menu bar then click: Clear History

  • When I have the downloads window open and I close the browser window, how can I get the browser to open the homepage the next time I start it while the download window is still open?

    When I have the downloads window open and I close the browser window, the next time I reopen the browser while the downloads are still going, it returns me to the last page I was on. All previous versions of Firefox would return me to my homepage which I would prefer. Please let me know if this is possible.

    When you re-open Firefox and choose Restore Session, by default it picks up your most-recently-open window, and the other windows should then show up in Recently Closed Windows.
    The Firefox add-on Session Manager lets you manage how many closed windows and closed tabs are saved, in case it's not enough.

  • How does a servlet close the browser window?

    How can a servlet close the browser window it is running in?

    I'm running the servlet by calling it in a browser window, passing parameters using POST, with the parameters appearing at the end of the url.
    Is there another way to run the servlet, without it affecting the browser window? That would be a better solution.

  • Can I close the browser window

    Hi! friends,
    I am in the process of upgrading to forms 6.0
    when we load the form in the webbrowser, is there a
    way I can close the browser window once I exit the form.
    Please advise
    Thanks in advance

    You can try this solution from Metalink:
    Customers want to close the browser's window when they close the forms application.
    Solution Description:
    USE JAVASCRIPT TO CLOSE THE WEBFORM APPLET
    Solution Explanation:
    1.)Create an html file (es. close.html):
    <html>
    <body onload="closeit()">
    <script>
    function closeit()
    window.close();
    </script>
    </body>
    </html>
    2.) Put the html file in the webserver root.
    3.)Inside the Form in a POST-FORM trigger you have to write a WEB.SHOW_DOCUENT builtin like this one: web.show_document('http://mywebserver.com/close.html','_self');
    In this way the web.show_document calls, the JavaScript function "closeit()", when the the applet is closing.

    It only happens for me on pages where I've allowed some Flash element to play (I have Flashblocker) such as a YouTube video.

  • Unable to close parent browser window

    Hi,
    I am trying to close parent browser window from POST-FORM trigger using java script as it is described on metalink. My browser (IE 6) appears to be hanging when trying to execute web.show_document with java script. I am pretty sure that it is a known problem on Windows XP SP2. but I was unable to locate the right workaround. It seems that I tried everything with no success.
    If somebody experienced similar problem and solved it I would appreciate if you could share your knowledge.
    Thanks in advance,

  • I cannot move, resize, minimize, or close the browser window despite everything inside the window still working.

    I don't know what details are needed so I'll just rattle off anything that I can think of.
    I am running an Asus laptop with windows 7. I have never had an issue with firefox in the past (beyond the usual freezing and some obvious issues with pop up ads that are par for the course with firefox since adblocker never does what it says.... not really. Lets be honest.) I am using Avast for my virus protection and it is also up to date.
    My issue started about an hour ago when firefox stopped responding. The video I had playing kept going but I could not interact with anything. Assuming the program froze for the billionth time that week I rebooted it. This has always solved freezing issues in the past. Now, however, firefox is doing something new.
    I can access the menus and almost everything on the window itself except for the minimize/maximize/close buttons, I cannot move the window at all, and I cannot manually resize it. I have also noticed that although videos will play, I can only click on their buttons if there is another smaller window overtop of firefox. The video controls will only appear that way and when I click them firefox naturally comes to the front and the video responds with the button I used but the buttons are gone again and I cannot resume playing without the smaller window back in front to make the buttons show again.
    It's as if half of firefox is frozen while the other half is still running somehow.
    I have no themes that could be causing this. Literally none. I only use firefox for the things that can no longer be opened in Opera so I have no need for any theme beyond default. The only addons I installed on purpose were adblockers (lord knows why. they don't DO anything.) though several other random things seem to have been installed over time to aid in one thing or another. Various plugins and players and versions of java, that sort of thing. But I have everything (and i mean EVERYTHING) in the addon menu disabled.
    I have tried booting it up in safe mode (the program, not windows) and the problem is still there except now it won't show the menu bar at all unless I press the alt key first and even then it wont let me actually click on anything in the menu bar. When I try the whole bar vanishes. I had to close firefox with the task manager.
    Rebooting will fix the issue for about 15 seconds before it all comes back.
    Any attempts at updating have failed as it says I am already up to date on everything so I don't know what its issue is.
    It's not an urgent issue right now as most of what i need to do can be done on the half screen window I am using, but some of my sites have buttons that literally vanish in anything but full screen and I imagine that this will be a much greater annoyance within a few days.

    After following all the instructions given, I poked around safe websites as suggested. I am not sure why this step was needed, as websites functioned rather normally before I came here but I did it anyways and found that the websites still work the same as they did. I can still do everything I used to be able to do. I see no change in the function of the websites.
    However, I still cannot resize, close, or move the browser window. I don't know if Netflix is a safe site or not (too many conflicting opinions on that one from the masses) so I don't know if the issue with the vanishing buttons is still there, but all the issues I had with the browser window itself is still there.
    Even in safe mode the browsers three window control buttons on the top right refuse to let me use them and the window itself will refuse to be moved around.

  • Is it possible to make a link in a mobile site close the browser window on the iPhone?

    I'm developing a mobile site specifically for iPhone users and on my home page I have a disclaimer saying something like do not browse this site while driving. I give them the option to continue by clicking a link or to close the browser by clikcinga link. So far I haven't been able to find a script that can handle that for mobile, or more specifically, the iPhone. Can this be done on the iPhone and what versions are limited to this feature?

    Ok let me ask you IF the IT department of your workplace does NOT want OS X installed on "THEIR" (The Companies) computers because of what they think is some type of security issue why are you trying to go against their wishes and install OS X on a computer that is NOT owned by you.
    That could cost you your job.
    If you continue down this path you will screw up the Windows install and have to take the system back to the IT department to get it fixed. What do you think they will say at that point?
    Do as you like but you would be better off just buying your own Mac computer if you are set on using OS X as your personal operating system.

  • I have Firefox 3.6.13 with Firefox for Yahoo 1.7 on Win XP and when I close the browser window, I can't open it again without using Task Manager to close firefox.exe any suggestions?

    This started when I first set started using Yahoo Messenger. It appears to me that Yahoo messenger is keeping the application firefox.exe open in the background and this prevents the browser from opening. The only thing I can't understand is why the broser will open the first time with Yahoo Messenger running.

    Whenever I attempt to utilize Google to search anything on the internet, Firefox will freeze. However, I am still able to close the browser window and end the firefox.exe process in order to open a new browser window, but it is annoying an inconvenient to have to do this frequently. Help!

    Might be because of a malware.

  • Record locks created when user closes the Browser and not the Web Form

    Hi. We sometimes encounter the issue where a user updates a record, locking the record on the table, but then they unexpectedly closes the browser without saving by clicking the X in the upper-right of the browser window. Then when another user comes along and attempts to edit that record they get the message Unable to Reserve Record. The orphaned record lock eventually does seem to clear itself out, but that can often take 15-20 minutes.
    Is there any way to speed this up? Or to pragmatically keep this from occurring? Either on the database side or with some code in a particular application?
    Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

    If a user closes the browser window the forms runtime on the application server holding the locks is in most cases still up and running. The FORMS_TIMEOUT controls on how long a forms runtime on the server is up and running without the client applet not sending a heartbeat (See MOS note 549735.1). By default this is 15 minutes which would explain your locks being held 15 minutes.
    You could decrease the FORMS_TIMEOUT in the default.env, so the forms runtimes get cleaned earlier and thus the locks get released earlier.
    Note that if you have blocking client_hostcalls with webutil this might be a problem, as it prevents the forms applet from sending the heartbeat and after the FORMS_TIMEOUT passed while the forms applet is blocked the forms runtime on the server gets closed.
    cheers

  • Is it possible in firefox to close a browser window/tab using java script without modifying the configuration settings? If YES, please let me know.

    Requirement: On click of button, I want the browser window to be closed.
    Solution: I am calling below java script on "onClick()" event of button.
    function close_window()
    window.close()
    This works in internet explorer but not in Mozilla Firefox. What is the reason behind it. Is there any way out to close the browser window in Mozilla Firefox?

    Can you post a link to a page that opens a pop-up window where a close button doesn't work?
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    *Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Inited applet closes the browser automatically

    Hello everybody!
    Im new with java and have a strange problem excuting my applet with Mozilla and Internet Explorer but not with Mozilla Firefox.
    I have been reading the forum but havent found any similar problem.
    When I run my applet with Mozilla or Internet Explorer, it says 'Miniapplet inited' in the status bar and suddendly closes the browser window. However if I run the same applet with Mozilla FireFox it goes perfect.
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Dont know what happened but now it is saying the java.io.IOException: CreateProcess: ... error=2.
    As I have been reading it means there's no file. If I write down the complete path it goes fine. However, I would like to run an executable file which is in the browser but wanna be executed by the client, is it possible with getRuntime.exec()??
    Thanks!!
