Startup after re-instalation
HI
While working on imovie program' my macbook shuted down with no warning.
When I tried to turn it on again it didnt start up and instead gave my the "no" sign (circle with a crossing line).
Nothing i did seemed to help so i tried to re-install os 10.4 from the original cd.
I did the "archive and install" procedure.
now, the computer will not start up at all- i turn it on and it shows the apple sign but then it restarts itself over and over again without starting up anything.
PLEASE HELP

What you should have done first, and definitely need to do now is this, post back with any problems...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
Safe Boot... holding Shift key down at bootup. Safe Boot is a special way to start Mac OS X 10.2 or later when troubleshooting.

Then boot off the HD & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.

No, there isn't any tag to control no-auto-startup.
you will have to Uncheck the option "start application after installation" in the installation dilaog itself. -
Error in startup after fresh install
I have Final Cut Express and accidentally deleted LiveType. I put in the disk to reinstall and after it installed, I checked to see if it works right but there's some error when I open it. How can I fix this?

Message was edited by: mohehIf it helps, the serial number that LiveType is asking for is the same serial as the one that your FCE installation asked for.
Should that not work, go to Macintosh HD > Library > Receipts and delete all instances of the installation packages that you find there containing the words "LiveType" there should be four of them.
Then reinstall LiveType. -
IAS console and other services won´t startup after sucessfull install

iAS 10g was successfully installed into a Suse Enterprise Linux 8. Both URLs (to the control console and to Apache) were initially working well. Just after the first reboot of the server, the services won´t startup:

New iMac freezing on startup after NTFS install
I have a new iMac with OS 10.7.4 that freezes for 5 minutes upon startup, then starts working normally. During this time there is no response to the keyboard or the mouse. Force Quit has no effect. I have it set to start without a password so it goes straight to the desktop. This behavior started when I installed a Paragon NTFS interpreter from my Seagate external hard drive. This is done during the setup install from the hard drive to allow both Mac and Windows to use the drive. I have tried this three times, reinstalling the OS each time to get the Mac working again. The drive came with a USB 3 base which is bad news for an iMac. Seagate sent me a firewire base and I hoped that would solve the problem, but no luck. The NTFS interpreter has been uninstalled and the Seagate external drive reformatted as a Mac drive. Everything now works, but the freezing behavior still persists, and I suspect that some startup files for the Mac are corrupted by the NTFS software. I ran the bootlog in the Console for one of the startups with freezing. The following is the only thing I see that seems unusual:

I can post the entire bootlog if necessary, it isn't all that long. Any experience with this problem? The Seagate people provided good phone support but they haven't heard of this problem before.Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6720f Desktop Computer. According to the specs your system came with integrated graphics using ATI HD Radeon 4200 and a 250 watt power supply. You indicate that your computer now has an ATI Radeon™ HD 5670 Graphics card installed and you are having issues. According to AMD the reference ATI HD 5670 graphics card requires a minimum of a 400 watt power supply. If this is a retail card, you will need to upgrade your power supply to accomodate this graphics card. The Corsair CX500 and CX600 power supplies are good choices and are known to fit many HP cases.
Please provide the make (not AMD or ATI, but Asus, EVGA, etc.) and full model number (not 5670, but HD-567X-ZNF3, etc.) of the graphics card in question for more assistance.

Computer won't startup after Tiger install with Maxtor external drive
I just upgraded to Tiger on my G4 Dual 450. The computer will not startup with my Maxtor 200 MB external hard drive connected. When it is connected I get a message to restart my computer. The computer starts up and runs with no problems when the Maxtor is not connected. When I connect the Maxtor after the computer is started I get a gray screen to restart my computer. I can connect the Maxtor to another G4 in my office with no problems. Does anyone have any ideas?

Computer Hangs at Startup after Tiger Install
Hello !
I've tried to install
Tiger on my regular Desktop Computer. Everything seemed to be going okay. It finished
loading and then told me it was going to restart. Upon restart the apple icon appeared and
then the little rotating disc below the icon. After about three minutes the Apple Icon disappeared and was
replaced with the symbol of a circle with a line through it. As it was in the same gray as the apple icon so
I wasn't sure if it was part of the restarting process or not. When the screen persisted for another ten minutes
I decided to leave the computer on over night to see what the morning would bring. The screen was still the
same in the am. I tried to restart it and the same thing happened and continues as I write this. I can't use my
computer.

ITunes 9 crashes on startup after clean install
I have had problems with iTunes every since version 7.6.029, and have posted a couple of times here. Once I was able to get things to work with a verion of iTunes 8. However, iTunes 9 has been a no go since day one. It crashes immediately on start up. There is no particular error message, just the standard "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close" message. Quicktime runs, but only if I have it set to not go to the Media Guide on start up. It will open audio and video files and play them fine.
Due to these issues, I decided to do a complete reformat and clean reinstall of Windows XP, in hopes that a completely clean system would not run into problems. But alas, it still reacts the exactly same way. I have gone through the steps found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1421 to no avail. I realize others have problems as well, and have been looking in those threads, but so far have not seen anything that works for me.I have a hardware firewall on my router.
Are the rules for that firewall configurable by program? If so, first I think we should check the firewall's rule for your QuickTime. If it's not allowing full access to the internet, try adjusting it so QuickTime does have full access to the internet.
If the rule does show that Quicktime has full access to the internet, try deleting the rule and creating a new one. (I've had trouble myself in the past with Firewall-rules-gone-bad blocking my QuickTime.)
Does that help with the QuickTime launches (if the Content guide is enabled)?
If so, is there any improvement with the itunes situation, or is it still throwing the error when you try to launch it?
(Normally, I wouldn't associate an "iTunes has encountered ..." error message with a problem with a QuickTime firewall rule ... but usually I'm dealing with folks with software firewalls. So perhaps we might get lucky and kill two birds with one stone.) -
Slow Startup after installing Adobe Reader X and 9.4
Okay, I've been using Reader 9 since before i can remember, without any problems! Now, after I install Reader X or 9.4, my computer will take about 5 minutes to startup. After startup I have no problems with programs or performance. What's wrong? Alternatively, does anyone know where I can get Adobe Reader 9?

I just downloaded illustrator on my MAC (OSX 10.6.8), but it will not startup. I tried a several times without succes. Then I uninstalled it and did the installation again. But it still doesn't work.What's wrong?

Can you elaborate? What exactly happens when you enter the LR5 upgrade serial number?
LR5 should simply ask for your LR4 serial number and the install should complete OK. -
VS 2013 Crashes on Startup after Installing VS 2015 CT6
Hi, I installed VS 2015 CT6 to test my code base from VS 2013. It went reasonably well. However, VS 2013 will no longer startup; it crashes when launching. I uninstalled the VS2015 version using the command line, i.e., vs_ultimate.exe /uninstall /force).
After that, VS 2013 thankfully worked again... just thought you should know since it is obviously desirable when VS 2015 is released that it can peacefully co-exist with VS 2013 if desired by developers.Hi jla_work,
Actually you mean that your VS2013 doesn't work after you install the VS2015 CTP 6, am I right? If you remove the VS2015 CTP 6, the VS2013 will work well again.
Could you tell me the windows Environment?
As far as I know, we could install the VS2013 and VS2015 CTP 6 in the same machine, I installed them in my windows 8.1 Environment before, and they all work normally.
Before you really install the VS2015, please re-repair your VS, please also install the VS2013 update 4, and then re-install the VS2015 again.
Since two VS versions would require high configuration requirements, so you would think about your Windows Configurations.
To make sure that it is not the add-ins' issue, please also run your VS 2013 in safe mode after you install the VS2015 CTP 6 again, test the result.

After you install the two VS versions again, please restart your machine, you'd better not open many VS Editors at the same time, for example, just open one VS2013 editor, test it again.

Macbook won't startup after installing update to osx 10.4.8
After I installed the update to OSX 10.4.8 I get the screen with the spinning wheel and then a dialogue box that says the macbook needs to be restarted. Same thing every time. Any ideas?
the sign says to shut down cause of an unresolved kernel panic, right?
That can be because of non-apple software running in the background. for example a widget, gmail notifier, an automatic "check for updates" etc.
You can try holding down the shift key at start up to start without any "extensions". If that works then, the cause is some extra background program running.
I had my "you must restart" signs disapear by removing all such not necessary non-apple software. (rememember to remove both the application and the preferences from the prefencefolder in the library).
If thats not enough, You can also toss away all preferences from the prefences folder. You will have to reset settings in the various programs, but the programs are still there. In mail, you may have to make in import of your mail, which will still be in your MAIL folder in the library. Nothing essential will be removed.
If your roblem persist...THEN you should make an archive and install (or sometimes better..back up your mail, addressbook, calendar, documents, music, pictures, films..etc.. and make a clean install.) But really, most often its a small thing teasing, which can be fixed strategically instead of erarings everything. so try removing non-apple not neccesary auto-running software first. -
System reboots continually after CS5 install
I have a CS5 workstation here that I took out of service a few months ago because it showed signs of OS corruption and possibly a virus. After messing with it for a while I did a bare-metal rebuild, beginning formatting both drives and resetting BIOS to system defaults. The system worked fine for 6-7 hours during Windows installation and configuration, driver DL and update, etc. After I installed CS5 Master Collection, it returned to its prior behavior.
ASUS M4A88T-M mobo, Athlon II CPU, 8GB RAM, 250GB boot drive, 1TB data drive, crappy ATi mobo graphics with NVidia GTX260 primary, Win7 Home Premium.
The system boots and gives a login screen, If I do nothing, about 2 minutes later it does a graceful shutdown and restarts. If I log into one of the two user accounts, it finishes loading the desktop before saying "Logging off" and then shutting down and restarting. This was the behavior that caused me to take it out of service (and resisted all attempts at fixing - I couldn't even deactivate CS5 before it would roll over). It will run in safe mode for a little longer (actually, it WOULD before - have not tried it since the rebuild) but selecting "do not restart automatically" at boot time has no effect.
It's possible that it's a hardware or firmware fault, but the oddity of the system running fine until CS5 was installed points to something changed at a boot/startup/initial configuration level, long before any CS5 app is started.
I have long since moved on to CS5.5 and CC, but I maintain this system for working on a few shared client projects; I kind of need it back up soon. If no one has any better thoughts I will try a new motherboard and (if needed) another rebuild. Very frustrating...
ANY ideas on what aspect of CS5 might be causing this, and how to get in and fix it without doing yet another rebuild and another license hit that will likely need a call to Adobe to fix? I think it must be some leftover fragment of Windows installer instructions, trying to finish an installation step and failing out. Or...?Found it. It was an unbelievably evasive TDSS bootkit virus that survived a bare-metal format and OS install and showed itself only by chance. Windows Malware Tool beheaded it and TDSSkiller stomped it out. All updates installed, no further problem. The issue, besides what the virus was actively doing, was that it prevented a critical security update from being installed, which created a whole list of other update-related problems.
By far the nastiest malware I've ever had to deal with. But fixed.
Kudos to Kaspersky for making the TDDS remover available for free. -

How can I choose to boot from MAC OS by default after I installed Windows? I have a MacBook Pro Leo 10.6.8. I used bootcamp to install Windows XP SP2, but now if I don't press the option key it will start up with Windows, and I don't want that. Thanks for any help.
