Startup/Crashing Problem

I have a 1 mhz G4 iMac flat panel that is virtually unuseable. I can only bootup if I reset the Pram, and then the computer crashes after a few minutes of use--generally once it goes to sleep. I've tried using disk warrior to clean up my harddrive. I had a bad ram chip replaced about a year ago and have reason to suspect that one of my current RAM chips may not be good. Could bad ram be the source of my problem? Any other theories/suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hello MW:
Welcome to Apple discussions.
The RAM could be the problem (OS X is notoriously picky about RAM - especially third party RAM).
Try (if you can) running the hardware checker that came with your system.

  • Strange Startup Crash Problem

I've got a G5 dual 2.0 g powermac with OSX 10.4.9. It has been problem-free for about a year. Just recently, it started crashing like crazy, to the point that it wouldn't even boot to the install disc. I somehow got it to boot finally, and ended up erasing the drive and reinstalling and updating back to 10.4.9. Now, it WILL NOT start up normally. I get past the grey screen with the apple logo and the little progress spinning gear thing, then the screen turns blue and nothing else happens. I can move the mouse around, but that's it.
I have unplugged everything but the keyboard and mouse.
I dont have any third-party gear installed.
I have run Disc Utility, which says that everything is ok.
    I have reset the PRAM.
I can boot to the install disc.
I can boot in Safe Mode.
I looked for the "login items" problem, but i have no login items in the list. I can spend hours in safe mode with no problems.
I've scoured the forums for someone with a similar problem, but I didn't see anything. PLEASE HELP!!!
    G5 dual 2.0 g   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The first thing to do when experiencing OS crashes is to run the Apple Hardware Test that came with your machine using the extented tests. If the machine passes those tests, get MemTest and wring out the RAM. See Mac OS X Kernel Panic FAQ, Resolving Kernel Panics, and Tutorial: Avoiding and eliminating Kernel panics for more details.

  • Skype Startup Crash on Windows 7

After login sound and two seconds of loading, the Skype windows cease to respond and Skype will crash when one clicks on any Skype window. I am using Skype version 7.6.0.103. The problem began on Skype 7.2, but I uninstalled that and installed Skype 7.6.0.103. The problem persisted and I reinstalled Skype 7.6.0.103 which still did not help. Copy-pasted from Event Viewer -> Custom Views -> Administrative Events -> General Tab:--------------------------------------------------------------------The program Skype.exe version 7.6.0.103 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.
    Process ID: 134
    Start Time: 01d0b33b9d328979
    Termination Time: 70
    Application Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe
Report Id: 0fed264c-1f2f-11e5-aa08-bcaec51a2b7f--------------------------------------------------------------------The above is the most recent instance of the crash. I have consulted the "Why does Skype for Windows desktop crash my computer?" FAQ and checked off every item there. The only advice I am unsure about is the "Make sure you have the latest device drivers" because I don't know how to check drivers. Note: I have updated via Windows Update (the problem was not fixed). I have included an attachment to a zip file showing the result from the DirectX Diagnostic Tool (or so I hope, as this is my first post on this forum).  Further notes:- I do not have Internet Explorer on my computer- I uninstalled my Logitech Webcam, but Skype still crashes on startup- Deactivating the protections from my Avast AntiVirus does not help.- The crashing problem sometimes persist for days, then for an evening or so Skype starts working again, then the crashing returns.

First update your Windows 7 installation to the latest Service Pack 1 (SP1) and make sure that you have the latest driver updates available too. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/install-windows-7-service-pack-1 Also, update your Internet Explorer to the latest IE11 version for Windows 7. http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/internet-explorer-11-for-windows-7-details.aspx

  • Strange PRE11 startup crash

A little while ago my PRE11 installation (originally from DVD) started to crash as the application was started.  I uninstalled and re-installed from DVD, and this appeared to fix the problem.  A few days ago I attempted to use PRE11 again, and got the same strange startup crash as before.  This time a re-installation from DVD had no effect, and neither did the re-installation of a fresh download from Adobe's website.  After a bit of research I tried running PRE11 as Administrator (Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit), and this started just fine.  Running the application as "me" (also with Administrator privileges, as it happens) crashed as before.  When not running as Administrator, the crash I obtain is given below.  I can also provide a core dump if this is useful.  All other Adobe applications on my machine (Photoshop CS6, Lightroom 4, PSE11) are working fine.
Any suggestions as to what might be going on with PRE11 would be very much appreciated.

  • CS4 Crashing Problems - Questions

Just curious in regards to all of these "CS4 Crashing" problems.
    1) Before updating to Snow leopard, did you people do due diligence by at the very least checking the S.M.A.R.T. status of your drives and do a Permission Repair first BEFORE updating?
    2) Did you make a clone of your working perfectly Leopard disk, or at least do a current (minutes before) Time machine backup?
    3) Did you check first which 3rd party extensions such as those by Unsanity (FontCard), YouControl(Font), Growl, etc. that will NOT play nice with Snow Leopard yet until they are updated (if ever?)... and pre-update delete them?
    4) Did you check to make sure that all of your fonts have been disabled and those that are NOT specifically from Apple, are removed from the User Font folders... and NOT set to load at startup?
Now after all of that... did ya still "freely" and without a gun to your head, update to Snow Leopard... a brand spankin' new (dot.zero) OS release and expect absolutely NO bugs: small, large or just inconvenient for the time being?
And now your whining here?... and complaining to Apple?
Have any of you considered reverting to your clone of Leo 10.5.8 until certain issues (yours) have been fail-safely fixed?
For the record, I did a straight-up SL update on a 2.16 CoreDuo MBP, and a 2008 8-core MacPro with NO problems! Everything working fine in 32-bit and 64-bit (MacPro), including even FreeHand under Rosetta.
NOTE: check your fonts!!! Whenever something crashes here or at any of my clients unexpectedly, font and/or font cache corruption has been the main culprit, now for over 20 years(!)

Well on one hand, I was guilty of letting out a rant against all of the whiners... on the other I was trying to be a bit helpful.
Maybe it will cause someone to think before starting another "Adobe or Apple must die or fix this" thread. It grates on the nerves... considering most should "fix" their expectations, upgrade habits, and most of all, the area between their ears first... BEFORE posting.

  • Crash Problem with Adobe Photoshop CS3

I have been using photoshop and getting the same problem many times. Many times the software gets off during the work. I alwats used to save my work in the end but due to the crash problem my dats gets lost. I am trying to get it recoverbut i think its not posibble to get your lost data back.
If somebody have any best solution to this issue please let us know. Adobe must take care of this issue seriously.

  • Illustrator CS5 Startup Crash Win7 32bit

Illustrator CS5 crashes every time I Iaunch the applicaton after about 3 seconds of being open.
The program worked at first before I installed my pen driver, I can not update my graphics tablet / pen as there are no driver updates available.
I have tried formatting entire PC and reinstalling Adobe Master collection suite but it still crashes after application is open for a few seconds.
It is probably possible to get the program working and not use my graphics tablet but that is not the issue here the issue is getting it working without having to spend 6 hours formatting and reinstalling and get it working with my pen, my pen works fine with Corel Draw essentials.
Illustrator seems to be the only program that has this issue, I noticed if you search google you get a ton of people with illustrator crashing issues related to CS5.
Very disapointed in illustrator CS5 so far, I can posibly go back to using illustrator CS4 till they release another patch to fix more crash problems if they ever do, if anyone knows if you can uninstall CS5 illustrator out of the suite and install illustrator CS4 without that just causing a million more problems with using a single item cd key with the master suite cd key

Oh by the way I have installed the 15.0.1 latest update for illustrator and it had no effect, I have also tried running illustrator in compatability modes with no change.
The application seems to open just fine and everything for about just a few seconds, its really odd.
It has nothing to do with configuration of application or perferences or the way it was installed I doubt.
Perhaps all I can do is wait and hope I didnt waste my money with this program in hopes that adobe will fix the ****** reliability issues with illustrator CS5.

  • How do I fix a FINDER crash problem in 10.6.8

I recently, in the last 10 days, started having a FINDER crash problem with my iMac 24" (iMac9,1) Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz computer.
I have 4 GB of ram installed, no external hard disks installed.
It seems to crash when I have five or more applications open, but it is not consistant.
When it freezes or crashes, I get the spinning ball. I open the Force Quit Window with comand, option, escape and it show Finder not responding.
I click on Finder and tell it to relaunch. It does nothing. At that point I cannot even go to the APPLE icon on the dock and do a shutdown or restart.
From that point on, I have to press and hold the START button to shut the computer down.
I have checked the hard disk integrity with Disk Utility after starting on the Snow Leopard 1.6 install disk. everything shows good.
I have repaired permissions using the same application. I then restart the computer and log back in.
I have used Onyx for Snow Leopard version 2.3.1 to do some maintenance routines.
I have checked the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive and it passes.
I have verified that the Daily, Weekly, Monthly routines have been run. They have.
I have executed the Cleaning tab to include the following cache files:

Here's hoping someone on the forum will have an answer.

  • Another crash problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 4

another crash question!  burned a dvd of project, saw something i needed to change as i watched the dvd, tried to get back into project, but crashed time and time again.  have tried any and all suggestions in the forum for other crash problems, but cannot fix.  can anyone help?  below is error message and my equipment.  using Windows Vista.  I want to go back to Windows XP, never had a problem.  thanks to anyone who has an idea.
    Problem event name:                   APPCRASH
    Application name:                       Adobe Premiere Elements.exe
    Application version:                     4.0.0.0
    DEll XPS 420
    Intel (R) core (TM)2
    Quad CPU Q9450 @ 2.66GHz
    4.0 GB
    32 bit
    Driver software:  ACPIx86 based PC
    Adapter ATI Radeon HD 3650

I'm not sure what's up at this point, if doing a Save As and deleting your render files doesn't fix your glitch (and assuming you've got adequate, freshly defragmented room on your drives for the program to work).
You can also try working through Adobe's troubleshooting steps:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/514/cpsid_51427.html
Renaming the presets folder can help. (The program will automatically make a new one when you next launch it):
    Windows XP:
    Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/ Adobe/Premiere Elements/8.0/MediaIO/Presets/OTHERS
    Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/ Adobe/Premiere Elements/8.0/Settings/Custom
        Windows Vista:
    Users/[Username]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Premiere Elements/8.0/SC/Presets

These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
    '''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/febe/ FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension)]''' {web link}
FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your
Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more.
In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild
your saved files individually into installable .xpi files.
It will also make backup of files that you choose.

I do not know about the SD recording format with that camcorder. I am sorry. But, if your Premiere Elements project is set up for AVCHD, you should be able to edit AVCHD with that computer.
I do recommend optimizing Vista, however, so that you will get the best performance. Here's how to do it:

Also, make sure your Vista is updated to Service Pack 1.
Επίσης, βεβαιωθείτε ότι η ενημέρωση να είναι Vista Service Pack 1.
