Startup Disk Not in Upper Right hand corner?

Hi! Has anyone noticed this behavior? Normally whatever disk I startup from it becomes the disk icon placed at the uppermost right hand corner of the screen however I just restarted from clone partition on a secondary disk and the icon was not at the uppermost right hand corner of the screen. I thought well it just didn't boot from the clone however clicking on each volume in disk utility showed that only the disk in question had the "repair" button greyed out indicating that it was in fact the startup disk. I've never seen this happen before. Tom

Hi there Thomas, My mac does that all the time. There has been never any rhyme or reason to it either. The first time it happened, I said Oh Oh. Because I didn't see where it went.. I have 3 other hard drives on my desktop with my HD. And every once in a while when I restart, they are moved to the other side of the screen. I know this has nothing to do with your partitioned drive. But I figure my 2 cents worth anyway. I just move them back to where they are supposed to be, thats the upper right hand corner on my desktop. If I thought it wasn't normal I would have flipped out a long time ago, LOL. So please do not tell me it is not normal, so I do not flip out, Ileen

Just switched from CS6 to PS CC. I am very comfortable using ACR in previous versions. I liked to use the preview checkbox located in the upper right-hand corner to see before and afters. That checkbox is no longer in my version of PS CC. I see that they have side-by-side, top and bottom and right and left before and after options in the lower right-hand corner in this version. Is there anyway to get that legacy preview checkbox back so that I can use it?

It's been almost three years since I bought and set up my most recent Mac but if I recall correctly .....
When you initially set up your Mac, you were offered the opportunity to snap a photo of yourself in order to associate your photo with your user account on the computer. If you declined the photo I think the Mac will pick or suggest a picture from the preinstalled selections in the accounts pane of the system preferences. You can change the picture but you cannot delete it totally. That picture is part of your ID for that user account on the Mac.
If you want to change it, Open System Preferences and click on accounts. Click on your account to change the picture. You will have to unlock the preference in the bottom left corner - and to do that - you need to enter your password. Click on the picture of the Eagle and then all of the preinstalled photo choices pop up in another window. Select another photo and then clcik the lock icon again when you are done.

In that same window - the one where you see your backups - click on the box at the bottom that say -Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads form syncing automatically. Then click OK and quit iTunes.
Connect your iPad to the computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading and select - Restore from backup. A window will pop up from which you can select any of the backups that you have for the iPad. Select the backup that you want to restore from and then go agreed and restore the iPad. Sync with iTunes when you are done.
Remember that when you restore from a backup - you restore everything in that backup to the iPad. You cannot selectively restore content. It is all or none.

IBook G4 black screen at startup with code in upper left hand corner

I have had operating system issues for the past year, and recently had my OS reinstalled at a Mac Professional retailer. After two weeks of perfect performance, the chime stopped working on startup. This was the only problem for several days. Then when I would put it to sleep, the computer would not automatically turn back on, I had to manually reboot it. Finally, today, after the computer would not wake up and I had restarted it, the screen would flash to the apple logo screen WITHOUT the spinning wheel and after several seconds would shift to an all black screen with text in the upper right hand corner, waiting for a command entry.
The code reads as follows:

Any ideas?????

Put the install disc in the drive and start while holding the "c" key. Once satrted click through past the language screen and select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Highlight the drive on the left and click the Repair button. If it reports errors and repairs repeat the process until no errors are reported. If it reports errors it can't repair post the error message here.

I seemed to have locked my keyboard; now there is a ghost writer on my keyboard; it goes to applications on its' own; opens itunes without me touchin the keyboard. There is a lock symbol in the upper right hand corner with a arrow circling it.

So, it appears that I no longer have control over my keyboard. With this symbol in the upper right hand corner, I don't have control over my keyboard.
Does anyone know how to undo this lock?

The problem has been solved. Did not have the install disk, but figured the problem out through single user mode. The options listed in the article were not working, so tried this...
sh /et/rc (to boot the system)
open /applications/utilities
Was trying to open Terminal, but this opened root user mode (accidental victory). From there I was able to simply use Disk Utility to repair my permissions.

Window Goes Off-Screen When Mouse arrow Is Moved To Upper Right Hand Corner

It seems like this happened recently. When the mouse is moved and pointed to the upper right hand corner of the screen everything displayed goes off-screen to the right and left sides. The edge of the window is shown on the right side and a shadow on the left side- when I click on those everything pops back on-screen. I have a bad habit of moving my mouse quickly and this has become annoying.
I thought it may have been a "Hot Corner" but I checked and this feature is not enabled(in Expose/Dashboard)
How do I disable this feature?

It definitely sounds like the hot corner "all windows" is enabled. There is a preference file that needs to be trashed, but I cannot figure out which one (no help to you).
Be sure that none of the hot corners are enabled and then restart.
You might also try resetting PRAM (although I do not think that will do anything).

My ipod nano 6th generation doesn't appear on my itunes or my computer everything is up to date on my laptop and when plugged in theres a charging symbol on the battery in the upper right hand corner

When I connect my ipod nano to my laptop it shows the icons on it and in the upper right hand corner it has a charging symbol on the battery symbol but my ipod still doesn't appear in my computer or itunes ... is there anything i can do to fix it ... everything on my laptop is up to date

Weird photo showing up in upper right hand corner of test messages I sent

I've looked through preferences and can't figure it out; there's a smallish icon-like photo of me that I took long ago that shows up in the upper right hand corner of my mail messages. It only shows up with messages to myself (tests, sent from yahoo and hotmail). Where in the world is this coming from and how do I turn it off? It didn't show up on my old Powerbook, but this is a new machine (iMac 20"), and an updated Mail program, so I'm not sure what's going on. I can't find anything about photos or pics in preferences. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this or turn it off? Thanks.

Stedman. Thanks. That wasn't actually what it was, but it got me poking around, so you solved it indirectly.
What it was was the photo on my Address book. That was selected to show up. So, I just turned that off.

@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!
