Startup Framework and dbpool

Hello,
we are facing some problems installing the startup Framework for our EP (EP 6.0 SP2 Patch 35 on Win/MSSQL).
We can start the services via MMC and after 1-2 minutes everything is "green". The J2EE is running and we can connect, but the portal doesn't.
The browser says:
Service Unavailable 503!
javax.servlet.UnavailableException: Initialization of Dispatcher failed
And the jvm_server.out:
Loading services:
Loading service: com.sap.portal.license.runtime|license
May 5, 2006 11:34:31 AM # System_Thread_61 Fatal PcdGlService: cannot get pool factory
java.security.PrivilegedActionException: java.sql.SQLException: Pool is closed!
at com.inqmy.services.dbpool.CPool.lazyInit(CPool.java:93)
at com.inqmy.services.dbpool.CPool.getConnection(CPool.java:139)
........Enterprise Portal is shutting down ........
...................Successful....................
I found some postings here regarding those problems and we tried everything (e.g. carriage return at the end of the profiles, Instancenmae: JC00 and so on) - but the portal won't run.
I found also something regarding the dbpool-service and the strange thing is, that it isn't running and I can't start it (Visual Admin -> Server -> Services -> dbpool). It always says "Pool sapep can't be changed". This message pops up after pressing the start-button. The change-button is disabled and thus I can't change the pool-settings.
Any Ideas?
Cheers,
Kai

Is the sapep dbpool started when you start the J2EE engine. I would also check that the connection settings for the dbpool are correct, and that you can actually access the database server from the J2EE server. One thing you might also want to check is that the user name that the startup framework starts with has access to the network resources of the other machines you are trying to access, i.e. DB, file system (if any), etc.
I hope this helps

  • J2EE startup framework and J2EE

I have changed some Java VM parameters.
To make above change effective, I have to re-start the J2EE instance.
But my co-worker  (who left my company)  wrote in his document
" For the SAP J2EE startup framework, it's NOT sufficient to re-satrt the J2EE
    instance"  to activate above change.
I did some research on J2EE startup framework. I think it is no longer used in NW7.0
    Could you help me
-- how do I know a system has SAP J2EE startup framework (I believe it is a concept  prior to 7.0 version).
        Our system is NW7.0.
--  If it is a J2EE stratup framework, how do I activate above change?
    Thanks a million!

    Hello Christy
SAP Netweaver 7.0 still has J2EE Startup and Control framework.
When you change a property normally the tool prompts that a restart is required. Normally you get a description of what kind of restart is needed. "A cluster restart is needed" for example meaning you have to stop/start your J2EE cluster.
If you are working on a dual stack you can stop/start through transaction SMICM under menu item Administration --> J2EE Cluster --> Send Hard Shutdown --> With Restart. That will hard restart your J2EE cluster and your parameter change (done in configtool I assume) will be activated once the J2EE cluster has restarted.
If you are working on a single stack SAP system you can stop/start using command prompt stopsap JC<instance number> or through the SAP Management Console.
You can check the activate VM parameters through the http://<hostname>:<j2ee port>:/index.html page under system information --> VM parameters for the node for which you have made a change.

  • Startup Framework for EP6 SP2 - Windows 2003 - registry key error

    Hi,
I've installed the Startup Framework and it all works from the MMC but if I try to start the SAP<SID>_00 NT Service, the portal server/dispatcher/state controller do not start up and I get the following message in the Event Viewer:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( SAPCCD_00 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Cannot open Registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\SAP\CCD\Environment (Error 2 ENOENT*: No such file or directory OR: The system cannot find the file specified.  ) [ntservmgr.cpp 264].
The registry key it refers to doesn't exist. I followed the pdf guide & have noticed that it says Windows 2000/XP - I'm trying to install it on Windows 2003, could this be the problem and is there a workaround?
It's a problem because when the server gets restarted, the portal doesn't come up.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    Jane

OK, manually added registry key - which got rid of registry error message but still wasn't starting portal.
Then set Autostart=1 in start_<##>.pfl - now works.
    Thanks,
    Jane

  • How to determine 640/J2EE Startup Framework Binary Patch Level?

    Hi All,
We are running BI ABAP with Java Add-in on WAS 640/SUSE/Oracle.
In the ABAP world, there are many options for determining the current kernel patch level.  Disp+work -v, SYSTEM->STATUS, etc..
How do I determine the patch level of the J2EE startup framework (ie: jlaunch, jcontrol, etc..)?  If I run these commands with '-version', I get a patch level of 0. From System Information, the Cluster Kernel Version is 6.40 PatchLevel 105424.313.
What I am trying to determine is if I have the binaries that map to the latest applied SP (18).  Do I need to download J2EERTOS18.SAR and apply the bits or has that already been done?  Or is the current patch level for the bits fro the J2EERTOS14.SAR file?  Etc...
    Any tips/suggestions?
    Thanks much,
    Greg

    Hi
    You can check the patch number like this;
    D:\usr\sap\FT0\SYS\exe\uc\NTI386>jlaunch -version

While regarding which file(s) to apply, please notice that the files you are not talking like

  • J2EE startup framework

    Hai all,
is the startup Framework supported on SP2 Patch3 with J2EE PL 19?? And where can I find these files for installation on marketplace
    Wolfgang

    Hello Roth,
Startup framework 6.0 for 6.2 should work with all patches. Though I used it in P3 + PL22 combination and not with PL19.
Please upgrade to PL23, specially if you are planning cluster......

  • Error running startup framework

    Hi,
We are running EP 6 Sp2 p4 hf 8 on hp-ux 11.11 operating system, and
We installed startup framework according to document "Installing and
Configuring the 6.40 Startup Framework to Use with SAP J2EE Engine 6.20
(Last update: 23.09.2004)", we installed patch PHCO_30544 for the os.
We used the latest version of SCSCLIENTEP.SAR.
The problem is that for a heap size more than 1G the startup framework
    doesn't work.
The following error is in the file ../os_libs/work/dev_server:
    [Thr 4] *** ERROR => JHVM_LoadJavaVM: Cannot create Java VM (rc=-1)
    [jhvmxx_mt.c 480]
[Thr 4] *** ERROR => Cannot load Java VM (client) (rc=-1)
    [jlnchxxi_mt. 590]
    [Thr 4] SigISetIgnoreAction : SIG_IGN for signal 18
[Thr 4] JLaunchCloseProgram: good bye (exitcode=-1)
    Best regards,

I doubt it is the heap size itself. Have you checked all your java startup params (flags). Having an improper flag, such as -XXNewSize=192 (missing a ":" between XX and NewSize) will give you such an error.

  • The Java startup framework must be updated - SAP JVM 4

    Dear All,
While execution of switch from JDK to SAP JVM 4.1 on java instance we get the message "The Java startup framework must be updated in order to use SAP JVM 4"
Please help or guide for further steps
    Regards,

    Hi Ajay,
    Hope you are doing good.
If the issue persists, kindly update the kernel to the latest level as this will update the native libraries which the JVM needs. This is the next step in these kind of cases.
The below links will help you if there are any queries with the
    kernel update procedure.

  • What is difference between Startup upgrade and startup migration.

what is difference between Startup upgrade and startup migration.

I am having the metalink note.
STARTUP MIGRATE was introduced in 9.2 as a mechanism to be sure that most everything that needs to be done to run an upgrade script or a patch script is done automatically. In the past, customers were expected to adjust certain initialization parameters prior to beginning an upgrade or applying a a patch,
but most of this is now done automatically by STARTUP MIGRATE.
When a customer starts a database in MIGRATE mode, the following ALTER SYSTEM
    commands will be set automatically:
But i am not sure what exactly the meaning by startup upgrade.
and exactly the startup upgrade and startup migrate

  • Startup abort and startup hard drive no longer recognized

i went to install leopard and the disc verified itself and i picked my startup disk and archive and install and started the install then got the message that the install failed and contact the manufacturer. then my original startup disk is not recognized to install on at any time. i had repaired permissions and verified the disk prior to trying to insall leopard and now i cannot pick it at all and with disk utility and trying to erase it i get it cannot be erased because of some use. any ideas. should i reinstall tiger and see if that works? thanks

That could have been caused by any of several factors.
    Did you have eDisk installed?
Do you have enough free space for an A&E? Remember the A may take up 15Gb
If you have a backup, reinstall Tiger from it and go through all the steps again, but choose an erase and install and then migrate your previous settings from your backup.

I cannot install Creative Suite 5.5 on my Windows 7 Professional. I keep getting error message: "Exit Code: 15 - Media DB sync failed". I have disabled UAC and Startup items and Services with no luck. Can you please help?

I am sorry Erickkasner but there is no longer direct support provided for Creative Suite 5.5 installation issues.
You are welcome to post any specific errors you are able to discover within your installation log to this discussion.  Since you are using Windows then Exit Code 15 could mean one of the following:
    Installer database is corrupted
Update pending to your operating system
Improper permissions set for the Media.db
The installation log file should provide additional insight into the exact error you are experiencing.  Please make sure to use the find command to look for the words 'ERROR' and 'FATAL' to locate the relevant error messages.

  • Windows 7 on Bootcamp not Recognizable in Startup Disk AND not bootable?

Hi, I'm new here. Anyways, can someone help me here; I had a bootcamp partition set at 5GB for Windows XP. I recently formatted, expanded to 32GB, and installed Windows 7 on that partition. The installation went fine without problems, and I installed the drivers from my Snow Leopard install disk, again, everything is fine. then I booted into Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.5) without problem. What I used to do with my Windows XP install, is go to System Preferences > Startup Disk > and selected BOOTCAMP, and hit restart; and everything would boot fine, and when I was done in Windows I selected Macintosh HD and my main boot device and restarted. But now, with my Windows 7 install, I can do that. It won't come up in Startup Disk and in Disk Utility I can't mount it. When I do try to mount it, the button presses and does nothing. I could really use some help here, I need to get that Windows up and running for some applications needed for school.

Depends what you used to change the size.
Would have been better probably to just backup (if you haven't already) and just do a full erase and restore for OS X and then start over.
And yes, some find Windows only shows in the startup (Boot Camp) control panel in Windows.
Resizing / expanding and shrinking from Windows causes partition for Windows to disappear even from Finder.
Windows still works. You can still OPTION boot and change the default while in Windows. Otherwise, go back to scratch and start over.
And 32GB really is the minimum.

2nd Gen iPad Mini stopped working yesterday.  Won't startup under and configuration and is not recognized by my iMac.  I believe it upgraded itself to iOS 8 (????)

    Hey Kenneth,
So it sounds as if your iPad is not responding at all when you try to turn it on, is that correct? If so, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch doesn't respond or doesn't turn on - Apple Support
If you get it to start up and it is still not recognized by iTunes on your Mac, use the steps in this article to troubleshoot that issue -
If you don't see your connected device in iTunes for Mac - Apple Support
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Weblogic portal 10.3.1 framework and  UCM 10gR3 code works in Jdeveloper

    Hi All,
We are using weblogic portal 10.3.1 framework and UCM 10gR3. Now we want to use Jdeveloper (because we can integrate site studio using plugin) instead of weblogic workshop.
So my question is does the existing code works in Jdeveloper (because it supports Webcenter portal)?.
    Thanks,
    Venkata Sarvabatla

No. Eclipse/Worskhop is the development IDE for WLP. While you can probably edit many of the WLP artifacts in JDeveloper, since they're mostly XML files, JDeveloper won't understand the WLP project structure, understand many of the libraries or know how to deploy to a WLP domain.

  • Customizing Light Framework and desktop

We have an internal need for using the light framework and desktop.  I don't like to modify the SAP provided items but instead would rather create delta links and modify those.
I created a delta link of
-Light Desktop (contains my CSS and my light framework page)
    -Light FrameworkPage
-Light Detail Navigation (changing the start at navigation level to 1)
-Searched and found the Light Detailed Navigation Page did a delta link copy and then modified it
Modified the delta link copy of the Light Framework Page
Here's the rub - I'd like to modify the Light Desktop Innerpage.  I'm hitting the wall here.  I created a new page but the layout needed (Light Navigation Panel & Content Area Layout) doesn't show.  Can't find the Light Desktop Innerpage in the portal content (it's there via the properties of the framework page - but finding that page I can't seem to find it.
So - how do I create my own desktop innerpage (would like to base it on light desktop innerpage)?
    Regards,
    Diane

    Hi
The par file for Desktop inner page is com.sap.portal.innerpage
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b4/771158e4cb4bf6af9974380948db86/frameset.htm
The desktop inner page is on of the iview present in DefaultFramework page of Portal which is a single portal page containing default iViews and pages.
The default framework page supplied with SAP NetWeaver Portal provides the navigational and structural components required to navigate and operate the portal. we can modify the default framework page or create our own framework pages to meet the requirements.
Its Location in Portal Catalog: Portal Content -> Portal Users -> Standard Portal Users -> Default Framework Page (pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/frameworkpage)
