Startup from template without 'save as'

Hi
Is there a way to start-up logic from a template without logic always asking where i want to save my song.
I find this very annoying because i don't always have the 'need' to save everything i do.

Not sure what I did but it never asks me that anymore... it just gets started and the song is called untitled until i do a save as somewhere along the line. I didn't go into preferences but I think I recall just hitting cancel when that dialog box opened up and the box just went away and I was at the arrange window... maybe after doing that Logic just defaulted to that... I don't know ... I can't even remember if it was after the first time i cancelled or if it was just somewhere along the way... but i just hit cancel or whatever it was on that dialog box and Logic didnt close it just got rid of that dialog box and I went to work on my new project....give it a try ... let me know if it defaults that way after ...perhaps somewhere there is a preference but I don't know where ...

I don't think there is a way to do this.
This was Apples way of making sure no "new" user ever had a situation where audio recorded in a song wasn't being placed in the proper song folder. In theory, its a smart approach... by getting a "save as" immediately, the proper folder structure for a song is immediately created, thereby eliminating any problems that might occur.
Unfortunately, they didn't take into account that we all might not be crating a new song every time we launch Logic.
I've just gotten used to clicking the "Don't save" button, but yea, its a bit of a drag...

Create document from template without launching Adobe Bridge (InDesign CS4)

When I select "New Document from Template... while using InDesign CS4, Adobe Bridge launches instead of a search menu.
It's much harder for me to navigate through Bridge than it is with a standard New menu. How can I get InDesign NOT to launch Bridge when this happens?

Just use File > Open... and navigate to the template you want to use.

Lost template, have pages from template, how can I convert?

In a moment of crass stupidity, I managed to delete a template upon which several pages of a site under development are based. There was a P7 menu on the page. Fortunately, I have a couple of pages based on the template alive and well. Can someone tell me how to convert one of these pages back to the template from which it was created?

The calendar page is rife with errors of which I am aware. Most are not in the template.

Well, we have gotten a lot of looks and no answer. From another board, the first response was the correct one, to wit:
open a page created from the original (now missing) template
- go to Modify>Templates>Detach from template.
- save this via File>Save as template
- create new editable regions via Insert>Template Objects>Insert Editable Region
I took a hard look at the editable region in the file from the template, and set up and named the new editable region as a clone of the original. The pages from the template, worked just fine.

DW CS4 not updating sites from template. Why?

Ok, this has become quite annoying. Can anyone tell me if this is a common occurrence with DW, because I just started my website and, if it's going to do this, I'd just as soon use Adobe GoLive or something else to create the site.
Here's an rerun of what happened:
Created Template
Saved Template
File > New > Page from template > My Site > My Template > Checked box that says update page from template > Create
Save new site (blah.html)
Make change to template
Save template, doesn't update newly created site (in fact, doesn't even show that it is).
Rebuilt site cache, same nonsense. Tried to update manually via modify / templates menu, same nonsense. Resaved template, recreated page, same nonsense.
Irritated. This process is taking way too long for something that shouldn't be happening. Anyone know of a surefire fix, as this has happened a couple of times.
Oh, and yes, when I open the page, there is a marker in the top right corner identifying the template which it is associated with (in case anyone was wondering).

I have DW CS4, not DW4 (sorry about that).
Still, I read through the SSI information you sent me and that looks.... less of a hassle.
I'll go that route.

When you open a template it is a copy of the template you get. You can write, add, delete or change what ever you like. It will not change anything in the template. When you save you have a document, not the template.

Try just Opening the Word .doc from within Pages and see if that gets closer to what you want, then copy the chapter you want from the Pages version.

Is there a way to save photos from lightroom without the original file?

I recently imported photos into lightroom, but I failed to save the original files on my computer and they are deleted from my card. The pictures are still showing up in lightroom. Is there a way to save them from lightroom without the original file?

Your images aren't - and never were - in Lightroom, they're just referenced in Lightroom's database.
Lightroom does generate jpeg previews of the originals though, and you can export those using Rob Cole's Preview Exporter plugin: robcole.com - PreviewExporter.
To be clear though, these aren't the originals.

If you don't need your old custom template, save your changes with the same template name. It will tell you that this template exists and will ask you Replace? Say yes (if you do want to replace the old with the new!)
To delete unwanted templates, go to Finder > Menu > Go and press the option key. Your Library will show in the Go Menu. Navigate to Library > Application Support > iWork > Numbers > Templates > My Templates.
Delete any unwanted template by dragging it to the Trash or click on it then command-delete.
Having gone to all that trouble to find My Templates folder, right click (or control click) on it and Make Alias. Drag the Alias to any convenient place for a quick way to get back to that folder.

No Page from Template in Dreamweaver CC

Using DW CC, new file doesn't bring up a page from template option. My site templates show up when I click Site Templates but there is no Page from Template option! Any suggesstions? I've reinstalled it once but no difference.

I thought that I was the only one hanging on... It's not like Adobe is the only one having problems with WYSIWYG editors. Same all round. NSA and any number of other spooky causes come to mind, but the reall problem is the sophistication of new browsers, new desktop hardware, rapid revolution from desktop only editing to inclusion of just about every connected device out there; and the numbers of connected devices is expanding far more rapidly than any ever expected, with players like China's and India's diversifications now only 10% there but expected to engage as fully as we are in less than four (4) years, and who knows where we all go from there.

Now, Microsoft has retreated into Sharepoint big-frame corporate network publishing with VB and WebMatrix. While FP cum STUDIO only mangles Windows half as often as DW (it is their own OS after all), it's not much better, doing weird things like causing every application to save into ghost data dumps without user warnings until everything system-wide is lost)... Notice that all the 'modern' Mac and PC apps that work are raw code, text editors. WYSIWYG self-instaleld software is NOT keeping up excepting online publishing services. Since OS's are rapidly becoming impregnable isolated SECURE devices, we need an ONLINE DREAMWEAVER CC web publishing service. Check out that cute Wix link. Now fill that with CC richness. BAPI/FM to Create Projects from Templates

Is there any BAPI/FM that can create Operative Project Structures referring the Standard WBS including all objects i.e, WBS,N/W,Activities,Milestone of standard project?
If not, what could be the work around?

        I have the same issue here, to create projects from a template, using a Function Module to do that, and I tryed to use the FM CJWB_PROJECT_COPY as you suggested, and I achieved to create project from template but, for any reason not known by me, the project is created without status object, so I can´t open it on any transaction(CJ02/CJ03/CJ20n...). I have tested it in SE37, using test sequences, so I call it and BAPI_TRANSACTION_COMMIT to save the data.
        To make the projects available to work, I needed to run a report named CNSTATUS as explained on SAP Note 170948.
        Do you know why using CJWB_PROJECT_COPY created the projects without status object assignment ? I could not find any documentation about this function, so maybe the problem can be caused by some wrong parameter that I was passed to it.
        Do you already used it ? If yes, can you send a sample code ?

EVfunctions fails using web template (without openning BPC Excel)

When we publish a template in the contant libary, it gives us a url. We use this url to access from a sap portal. Then, the template bottoms with macros that have EVfunctions don't work. We need to open the BPC Excel Client to run it.
¿How can we use a web template directly from the url? (without openning the BPC Excel Client)

maybe I'm explaining bad myself, or maybe I don't underestand your answer.
I will try to explain it step by step my problem,
we made a template, with evfunctions, like match-codes, refresh buttom, and another buttoms with Ev functions. This template is used to introduce user-values, so the users can fill the template and save the introduce data in the application.
We publish it with the content library, so we get a url. We put this URL in sap portal, like a link to this template.
When users or administrators wants to use this template by this link, it is opened with internet explorer, but the cannot use this template, because, those buttoms and functions doesn't works if we openned in this way. The only way to use this link is if we connect to the bpc excel client, before we use this link. But our question or problem is that we don't want to use in these way, we want to start introducing data and using the template directly from the url.
So our question is: is there any possibility to do that? and if it is, how can we apply it?

Now I see that FormsCentral is going away and I can't get my doc to save as a PDF without an upgrade? Help

You should be able to log into the online Formscentral Acrobat XI air app and see your doc there. From there you would need to save it out as a PDF without a submit button to have it continue to work past July. If you don't see your online form(s) please let me know the adobeID you use to log into the service as well as the form name that is missing and I will look into it for you.

WORD Error message -- Report from Template

Hello everyone,
I try to generate a "Report from Template" with transaction CG03.
I can select the generation variant and the parameter values in the next two pop-ups.
WORD is starting but then there is the error message:
"Word cannot read this document. Maybe it is corrupted. Try the following:
- open and repair the file
- open file with repair-textconverter".
This message is a translation from german to english so the correct messagt might differ from this.
When I look at my frontend PC in the local settings I see that the respective files are written, but I can´t open them.
This problem started two days ago out of nowwhere.
Additional information: Visual Basic pops up after the error message is closed with "runtime error '1055'.
A debugger is opened and this is the content of the window:

any change happened on your client? New Windows version? New Word Version? New WWI Version installed? Did you manupulated Standad Dot path etc.? Did you change Standard.dot of Word?
Can you open in cg54/cg50 any document (ready, released or historic) without a problem and the problem is related only to "report from template"?
During WWI process a number of files are passed on to your client. Can you use Wordpad to open the files? I am not sure but I believe per WWI document there should be something like 4 or 5 documents in your local WWI path. One containing the data, one containing the template and some others (named something like resfil, lesfil etc.).
An error like you described is normally related to one of the above mentioned changes. Can you use "Report from template "regarding the same spec, same genvariant same language with a different client without a problem => then it is clear you have a local problem

In your description you say the first document opens as the Title you gave it.
Templates always open as Untitled so it sounds like you have saved a regular document, perhaps into your templates folder which is possible.
Since you have already worked on it and it has been previously saved, Lion will now Save for you and Save a Version is available
The other document does open as Untitled so sounds like a real template and as Peggy has pointed out will not have either Revert nor Save a Version until you Save it and have changed something in it.
This is a classic example of just how Apple's supposedly "simplification" of the process, is leading to confusion of what has happened. That the conditions and resulting actions from those conditions is so convoluted says it all.
It all reminds me of the Monty Python Life of Brian sketch with the "simplified" John Cleese instructions to the class, as to if you have a brother in an older dorm whether to hang your hat and bag on the hooks provided. The trouble is Apple does not get the joke, that it is transforming itself into a frequently self contradictory bumbling bureacracy. The price of unchallenged self appointed geniushood.
The incoherent half baked stumbling juggernaut has reached new triumphs with its edict on enforced Sandboxing on developers when it is unable to follow even its own instructions.
