Startup in 64bit mode with only a wireless keyboard

I know that you hold down 6&4 keys during startup, tried that.
My guess is that it not working because it is a wireless keyboard, drivers blah, blah.
Believe it or not this office I'm in does not have a single usb keyboard around.
Any suggestions.

Give one of these a try:
32- or 64-bit Kernel Startup Mode Selector 1.6
SixtyFourSwitcher 1.1
K64Enabler 1.0.1
You will find them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • How do I eject a stuck Leopard installer disk with only a wireless keyboard

Today I bought a brand new mini at the Apple Store, with Tiger installed and the Leopard disk "in the box". On install, I decided to erase the disk and start fresh. I aborted after it started because I wanted to go back and partition. Sadly, it had already wiped Tiger, and now it refuses to install Leopard because it's a bare-metal install, and not an upgrade.
    Fine. Understood.
Problem is, my Leopard disk is stuck inside and I can't get it out. I've only got a wireless keyboard, and it isn't recognized during the boot, so I can't press the eject key (C?, Eject? Doesn't matter, it only sees the mouse). HELP! I'm in a Catch-22 situation.
Sure I could go wake the neighbors in the middle of the night, but isn't there some way? What happened to the paperclip trick? No more?

I did not realize that Apple had two kinds of Leopards - upgrade and full.
I would go back to the store where you bought it and demand they fix it immediately.
They also should have supplied you with a Tiger disk.

Are you using a v6 uitlity.. because it is a toy.. ??
Get v5 utility and then you can hold down the option key and select the right mode.
If you have lion, just install it.. For ML follow this.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

  • Booting into 64bit mode with Mac Pro 2009

I am trying to boot into 64bit mode with a 2009 Mac Pro 2.93 Quad core machine. I tried holding down 6 and 4 when restarting but no luck, it staill says no in the profiler. Any ideas why?

If you'd like your Mac to always start up in 64 bit mode without having to hold down any keys, do this:
Here's the configuration file approach for always booting into 64-bit. This is the best way to make your Mac always start up 64 bit as the only thing necessary is to alter one line of a configuration file. You can do that by opening the Terminal and entering:
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot 'Kernel Flags' 'arch=x86_64'
To return to 32 bit mode, you would repeat the command but enter an empty string, which would just be the single quotes (where arch=x86_64 is) with nothing in between.
sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot 'Kernel Flags' ''
These commands are all one line, they're just wrapping here.
If at any point you find you need to start up in 32 bit mode for a single use, just as you held down the 6 and 4 keys for 64 bit, you can hold down the 3 and 2 keys for a temporary change. No need to keep changing the config file over and over.

Try to re-flash the firmware of the router once again. The re-flash process means that you will be updating your firmware with a version that is similar to the one that you are currently using.  A firmware re-flash will help in fixing the script of your device’s current firmware. After re-flashing the firmware reset the router. Here is the link for resetting the router: http://www6.nohold.net/Cisco2/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=eaa3127db5f4402584c959a7251e754c_4008.xml&pid=80&r...

  • Help with the Palm WIreless Keyboard

Hello all,  I have a Palm Tungsten E2 device with the universal wireless keyboard.  I am familiar with most of the functions of the keyboard however there is one thing I have found elusive to this point.  I'll do my best to describe the issue in detail so here goes.
My problem occurs when I open the calendar using the wireless keyboard shortcut (Fn + 4). I press the sequence and my palm pilot opens the calendar to the default "agenda" view, which is fine, but from there I want to navigate to the "daily", "weekly" or "monthly" view quickley (without using the stylus). I know to reach "daily" I press (start + enter) in the "agenda" view which highlights the first scheduled task for that particular day then pressing (start + enter) again opens the "daily" view.  From there I can enter appointments as I see fit. But, what I want to do is navigate directly from "agenda" to "monthly" or "weekly".  Is there a way to do this with a shortcut key combination? Also,  I don't want to change the pilots default calendar setting from agenda to monthly.
Hopefully this makes sense,  please let me know if there is a way to do this, also, if more information is required please post and I will respond.
    Thanks,
    CKF

For Vista that version will not let you install programs. Good news though is we have a version you can. Go here, http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/windesk62.html and install this on top of the version you already have. There is going to be a few changes on the desktop, there is no quick install, but the install tool.
Once you have that done just double click on keyboard and it will ask you your hotsync name and sync and your done.
Oh as a side note the check if this is your solution is only if the answer solves your original question.

I'm having issues with my apple wireless keyboard.
I just bought an Apple Wireless Keyboard for my ThinkPad E430 but the keys are not compatible.
I installed BootCamp 5 and it worked great but whenever I restart, it changes my system's time.

What do you mean by racing around in circles? Have you done any damage to your phone? Like drop it or get it wet?

  • My Ipad2 won't pair up with my apple wireless keyboard.

My Ipad2 won't pair up with my apple wireless keyboard. It shows it's available to be paried, but when I try to type the 4 number code and press enter, nothing happens and finally the bluetooth search times out.  Anyone with suggestions?

I realize this is an old post, however I had the same problem (Apple 2009 Aluminum BlueTooth keyboard and iPad 2). I kept getting the "Pairing Unsuccessful" message.  Here's what worked for me:
    1. Turn off the keyboard by holding down the power button until the green light turns off.
    2. I power cycled the iPad by holding the sleep/wake and home button until the screen went to black, and turned it on again. (Not sure if this was necessary, but I figure it couldn't hurt.)
    3. Holding the keyboard in my lap, I pressed AND HELD the power button in through the next few steps.  (DO NOT LET GO UNTIL I SAY SO)
    4. At this point, I got the message on the iPad to type the code. YESSSSSSSSS!
    5. STILL CONTINUING TO hold in the power button, I keyed in the code and pressed return.
    6. Next thing I saw was:
    Bluetooth                                                                             (ON ( ))
    Devices
Apple Wireless Keyboard ----------------------------------------- Connected (>)
    7. That's it. You can let go of the power button now.
Hope this helps, I thought I'd post this in case anyone else was having similar problems.
    Cheers!

  • Compiling perl on Solaris x86 in 64bit mode with libperl.so

    Hello,
I am trying to compile perl 5.10.0 on solaris 10/x86 in 64bit mode, some basic infos are:
    System: SunOS oven 5.10 Generic_120012-14 i86pc i386 i86pc
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.3 (csl-sol210-3_4-branch+sol_rpath) which comes with SUNWgcc
To compile in 64bit I add the -m64 to linker and compiler flag.
I also point the Configure to appropriate 64bit library directories.
Static compilation without libperl.so build works like a charm, with libperl.so it compiles as well but execution of perl or miniperl results in:
ld.so.1: miniperl: fatal: relocation error: R_AMD64_PC32: file /export/home/keeper/build/perl-5.10.0/libperl.so: symbol main: value 0x2800117364c does not fit
Same happens with perl 5.8.8 btw.
I have tried to add / remove -fPIC flag, result is the same.
I am also 100% sure that the correct libperl.so is taken.
    Anyone had success in this?

  • I have just replaced my mac mini because previous motherboard was damaged. I want to pair with my existing wireless keyboard and mouse but can only pair with thebold mac mini which will not start. Any ideas?

See title. How do I unpair a wireless keyboard and mouse when the previous paired mac mini is damaged and will not start?

You should be able to go to System Preferences -> Keyboard and System Preferences -> Mouse and discover the bluetooth devices.
Also, do you have a bluetooth icon on the top bar of your mac?  Should look sort of like this:
If you can figure out which device is which (by trial and error, if nothing else), you can connect to them on this menu.

If you have an Apple TV (2nd generation or later) and are running Apple TV Software 5.2 or later, you definitely can use an Apple Wireless Keyboard with your Apple TV.  I found an article with the steps on setting this up:

  • Z68A-G43(g3) issues with the Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 6000

    Hello,
we've buils a new PC with the MSI Mainboard Z68A-G43(G3) and the PC hangs on the start with the code 92. We noticed that the issue is caused by some USB device. After many tests we found out that when the MicroSoft Wireless Keyboard 6000 v2 is connected to the computer, it stops to start.
The keyboard is connected through the Microsoft Wireless Desktop Receiver 3.1 to the USB, which is used to connect the mouse as well.
I'd like to use the kb + mouse set, how can I fix the issue.
Also, I tried to update BIOS via the Live Update, and it's not working, the BIOS download fails.
    Any help is welcome.
    Regards,
    Michal

    The BIOS is 4.10.
Also I forgot one note, the KB is working, but only when it's connected alone. When we connect to USB port another device (Flash Drive, USB Wireless, ...) the PC won't start. When the KB is removed, the PC starts without any problem.
Also another note, when the KB was connected and the Zyxel Wireless PCI adapter was connected, PC doesn't start, when KB is disconnected, PC starts.
So there seems to be some issue with the MS device.
    Regards,
    Michal
