Startup Mode for XI Adapters JDBC and JMS

We have configured several JMS and JDBC channels which are running fine. During application of support packages, we want to disable these channels. I know that I can individually inactive each channel but I am looking for a way to disable all JMS and JDBC channels together.
I am thinking that I should be able to disable the SAP XI Adapter: JMS service and the SAP XI Adapter: JDBC Adapter. The startup modes for these services are set to automatic so when the web as java is stopped and restarted these services will restart.
Am I correct in thinking that I can stop these services without effecting the XI system (i.e. these services are not mandatory)? How can I temporarily change the startup mode for these services to manual?

Hi,
I believe you can stop JMS and JDBC services individually from visual admin but I am not sure (lets give a try).
If you don't mind getting errors i.e, if your motive is just to stop the execution of all JDBC and JMS scenarios, just redeploy the jmsproviderlib sda without any external jars in it.

Hey Adobe..
Kind of like the startup screens available on everything in CS4 Premium but Photoshop. Why not on Photoshop? I think it's pretty handy with the links and recent items lists..
And ( maybe a little whiny here as I have been battling the flu for days now :) is it just me, or does anyone else think the new interfaces look, well, have to be honest, kinda flat, clunky and graceless? I mean, sure they work ok with lots of bells and whistles, but honestly, they look like some stripped down old shareware program interface. Pretty humble for design software. Like paying a premium price for a new Corvette where the only available paint color is primer grey. Maybe somebody oughta offer skins :)

Here's something you may not have ever consciously considered, Mike, though I'll bet you know it intrinsically:
Despite the fact that color and value can be an eye attractant, much of what makes for smooth, almost unconscious workflow is
far more
dependent upon consistency of position than the distinctiveness of color, value, icons or text labels. This isn't just some UI philosophy I'm making up; smarter people than Iand entire institutionshave made deeply detailed studies of this.
Two things you can experiment with that will help you notice what I'm talking about (if you've somehow never noticed it before):
Test 1:
Are there bookmarks or folders full of bookmarks in your browser windows' bookmarks bar that have been in the same place for a long time? Take a minute or two and rearrange them. Maybe add an empty dummy folder or two to the left side of your bookmarks bar. Leave them that way for a few days, so that you kind of forget you rearranged them. I'll bet you'll find that when you move to click on a bookmark you use somewhat regularly, your hand will unconsciously start to move your cursor to where it
used
to be. I'll bet it takes upwards of a dozen or more instances of traveling to the bookmarks' new location before your brain re-naturalizes to subconsciously finding that bookmark in its new position. This is because it's easier for our brains to process a location, rather than having to read and interpret a text label every time it wants to perform a function like this.
Test 2:
Like most of us, I'm sure you have your Palettes/Panels in different applications set just the way you like them. And if you've dug into the app, you've saved that Workspace set-up so you can return things to where you like them in the event of a reformat, or reinstall, or preferences re-set.
Go ahead and move all your Panels/Palette to significantly different positions. Save this workspace, and use it exclusively for a few days instead of the set up you're used to. And again, give it a day or three, so you kind of forget you rearranged your workspace. Your brain will find it a bit of a struggle to negotiate the app's tools and functions because now you're forcing it to constantly hunt for and make a new interpretation about where everything is located. To do that, your eys first have to scan and hunt for the icon or text label of the tool or function you want to use. Then it has to interpret that visual signal that then tells your voluntary motor control "Oh, that's where it is, that's what it is, let's move our hand so the mouse cursor goes there."
That "sea-of-featureleless-gray-with-black-text," as you call it, serves a very important function precisely because of its unobtrusiveness. It gets the heck out of the way and allows your eyeballs and the analytical part of your brain room to focus on the
real
task at hand, that is: To make the best adjustments you can to the image you're working on. And that's not even mentioning the fact that a bright or colored interface can significantly skew your interpretation of color and value (because of the brain & retina's persistence of vision effect) where it really matters: In the image you're working on.
The interface may look different, but give yourself and your (almost)autonomic motor control some honest time to get used to it. As long as you set-up your workspace to suit your needs, I'm willing to bet that soon enough you won't even have to think about looking for differentiating color or reading text labels on a tool...you'll just navigate where you need to, almost without thinking about it.

Windows 8.1 update has been stuck in "Preparing to install" mode for 3 days now and I cannot stop it

My Windows 8.1 update has been showing "Preparing to install..." for 3 days now. When I click "Stop installation" it says I need to provide administrator permission and doesn't have any way for me to provide this. My account is the administrator
account for my laptop.
I have already seen a similar thread that said to open a command prompt with admin privileges and type "slmgr -skms", but the solution did NOT work. Basically, it said the usage was incorrect and popped up 5 windows of information that I didn't
know how to interpret (yes, I tried to provide the options it wanted, but they were incorrect).
Any advice would be appreciated!

In case anyone else has this problem, on Windows 8.1 I had to open up the Control Panel, then type "troubleshooter" in the search box. I clicked "Troubleshooting" and then found "Fix problems with Windows Update" under the System and Security section.

My lab top,while browsing on internet site,got stucked. The cursor was not moving and I was unable to close down the laptop. Finding no alternative I just pressed and held the startup switch for a few seconds and got it closed but can,t restart. Help plse

I can not start the device after I shut it down by pressing & holding the start button. I took this measure because I was not able to force quit/shut down while on internet. The program was not responding and laptop got hot.. Any body help please....

JDBC drivers for SQL Server 2008 and PI7.0

HI,
I have deployed the JDBC drivers (sqljdbc.jar and sqljdbc4.jar) available for the SQL Server 2008 from the microsoft website as described in the how to document for deploying and configuring JDBC and JMS adapters.
I am running a JDBC to FIle(XML) scenario. When I go and see on the RWB CC monitoring, I get this error
Error during database connection to the database URL 'jdbc:sqlserver://hostname:1433;databaseName=123_Nagasatya' using the JDBC driver 'com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver': 'com.sap.aii.adapter.jdbc.sql.DriverManagerException: Cannot establish connection to URL 'jdbc:sqlserver://hostname:1433;databaseName=123_Nagasatya': UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/microsoft/sqlserver/jdbc/SQLServerDriver (Unsupported major.minor version 50.0)'
WRT to the SQL server the port 1433 is open on the host and there is no firewall on the PI server as well as the SQL Server. Both are on different machines.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the iphone 4S has been in recovery mode for a long time and i have tried to press and hold the power and home buttons until the apple symbols comes on the screen again but it stay on the screen until the screen turns off and doesn't come back on to the home screen and have tried to sync with mac and doesn't do anything it does display the itunes and cable icons for a while but then goes back to the apple symbol and doers nothing what can I do to fix this and not loose what is on the phone at all?

We have an interface - to send 2 million records (10 - 12 fields) out of SAP and we are on PI 7.40.
I am trying to compare the pros and cons of JDBC and JMS adapters.
Does anyone of you have some bench marks on this topic and I would really appreciate it.

If your idea is to do a migration and to use only one time the interface i think SAP PI is not the best solution and you should do a copy from your DB to the new one. However, if you are working really with a interface with 2 million records traffic per day, i think you can do easier with JDBC, as Hareesh said with 5 until 10 MB i have noticed a quicker performance, all depends about your PI hardware. You can do some test, if the time is between 5 to 10 seconds with a huge load, for example every 5 seconds and other asynch scenarios working, you can set it.

Since you are not able to use the RECOVERY on the D Partition, I recommend following this document on Obtaining HP Recovery Discs or an HP USB Recovery Drive. This should help you acquire a recovery disc necessary to replicate a RECOVERY partition.
