Startup of Instance failedThis question is not related to the HANA developer center sandboxes - no user can stop/start these systems...
If the issue happened after a failed restore, your database is probably corrupted and cannot be started. Try to restore another backup. You can also try to restore the same backup again, and choose to not replay the log (recover from data files only). You will probably loose some changes, but at least have a consistent state...

Weblogic clustered server instance failed in less than 30 hours with no load/utilization
system description: hpux 11, jdk 1.2.2_03, weblogic 5.1 sp1, two clustered

problem:
in our custom weblogic monitoring scripts, we run the weblogic ping command
every ten seconds with the following command:
java weblogic.Admin t3://10.7.192.103:7001 PING 10 56 system weblogic
this weekend, both of our instances failed at one point and returned this

at weblogic.Admin.main(Admin.java:216)
our monitoring scripts successfull revived the instances, but there is a
problem with this.
problem: there was no load or utlization of the weblogic server instances
at the time of the failure. both instances had only been up for about 30
hours when they failed. is this due to weblogic instability? i hope not.
a max uptime of 30 hours doesn't say much for the reliability of the product
especially since there was zero utilization...

Any thoughts on what I can do (without having to re-install the dialog instance) to fix this?Hi,
I hope this helps you, my Basis team came up with the same problem. It is because of the JDBC driver that SR3 uses seems to be wrong. This is a slightly subtle problem and it took me a while to find.
- Open configtool
- Go to instance --> dispatcher --> Configuration Manager --> Local Properties --> rdbms.driverLocation
- Change it to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqljdbc.jar (or similar)
- Go to instance > server> Configuration Manager --> Local Properties --> rdbms.driverLocation
- Change it to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqljdbc.jar (or similar)
On my system it was set to C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\base.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\util.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\sqlserver.jar;C:\usr\sap\SMB\DVEBMGS00\exe\mssjdbc\spy.jar which is the old school SQL Server driver.
Once you have changed these settings, save, exit configtool and restart the whole cluster. It will then start.

John -

SQL database login for 'DB_Config' on instance 'DB\instance' failed. Additional error information from SQL Server is included below:
Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.
I have been getting this error every hour on only 1 application server of the 2.
My farm consists of 2 app servers, 2 wfes & 2 sql nodes.
My public site is working fine. Authentication is NTLM.
SharePoint VSS Writer is disabled.None of my appPool accounts are running under local system.
I have read many forums/blogs, but couldnt find a solution for this.
Any help would be appreciated!Hi,
As I understand, you found event id 3351 in event log. Please collect more information as below:
Check if the error also occurs on other servers in your farm.
Check if backup job is scheduled at the time when the event id occurs.
Please run Config Wizard or psconfig.exe -cmd secureresources on all servers and test the issue again.

Could not able to startup the instance
After shutdown the instance, I could not able to starup the instance. ORA-12203 TNS:UNABLE TO CONNECT TO DESTINATION ,error showing. Database already down, then how to make to startup.
ORA-12203: TNS:unable to connect to destination
Cause: Invalid address specified or destination is not listening. This error can also occur because of underlying network or network transport problems.
Action: Verify that the net service name you entered was correct. Verify that the ADDRESS portion of the connect descriptor which corresponds to the net service name is correct. Ensure that the destination process (for example the listener) is running at the remote node.
Connect with your server. Export ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID. Then login with SQLPLUS as sysdba and startup the instance.

Process.Start(url) sometimes one instance fails
I need some help!!!
ASPX.NET/C#- Call Process.Start(url) several times, sometimes one instance fails without error!!
I have a program that calls a http aspx.net with arguments(URL) to execute some stuff. That program are invoking 10 times that aspx.net (all in the same time) with diferents urls.
But sometimes, one of the calls (url) do not launch in browser.
Code is very simple:
public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page
private Object thisLock = new Object();
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
try
string URL = Request.Params["URL"];
Logger.Log("CURRENT URL TO LAUNCH->", URL);
lock (thisLock)
ProcessStartInfo startInfo = new ProcessStartInfo("IExplore.exe");
startInfo.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Maximized;
startInfo.Arguments = URL;
Process.Start(startInfo);
catch (Exception ex)
Logger.Log("Exception", ex);
}The URL launch are a client side technology!And that´s because i need to open the IE in WebServer!It´s silverlight web application to generate reports!The silverlight application closes the IE instances after finish. Everything goes right, except sometimes in 10 requests one fail
ThanksWhat's the url do?
Is it possibly that the url isn't ready or there?
I can't recall ever doing process start from a web page.
Maybe there's an alternative way of approaching whatever you're trying to do.
BTW
I think you should probably ask this question in the asp.net forum since there's actually no Silverlight in the mix there
Hope that helps.

SQL Server Express 2008 instance fails to start
I've installed SQL Server Express with a named instance 'SQLSERVER2'. I was able to connect to it and reference it in the management studio. There was a problem though with Visual Studio 9 when running an ASP.NET web application that required connecting to the same instance. So, I went into the configuration manager to change the security level of the instance from network to local service. The change went through but could not restart the instance. That is what has created my next round of problems. I can't go in and change it back to network because the instance is permanently stopped. I cannot start it with the services manager. How can I fix this?

This problem can occur if the new Service Account does not have a profile on the machine. To resolve the issue connect to the SQL Server machine using the New Service account. This will create a profile for the user.
SQL Server creates a self-generated certificate if a certificate is not explicitly specified and/or is not installed. This information is saved in the profile for the SQL Server service account. If the profile has not been created then SQL cannot register the self-generated certificate.
If there are any more questions, please let me know.
Thanks.
***Xiao Min Tan***Microsoft Online Community***
What 'New Service account' are you referring to? SQL Server Express resides on my PC where I'm logged on as administrator. I don't know what you mean by connecting to the server. I only know about connecting to the database instance which is the root of the this problem because it can't be started. Sorry for my confusion... -

What can i do to solve this problem?
Thanks,It seems you are out of swap space. Server startup process, among other things, has to fork and exec in order to start related MQ broker process. This failed due to insufficient amount of memory needed to temporarily hold both the original process and its fork image.
You could try cleaning up /tmp partition or rebooting the system. Also, you might review what other applications are running on the system at the same time and shut some of them down temporarily until server starts up.
Hope this helps. -
Guide to startup mulitple instances
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5
Sun Java Web Server 7 update 6
When I installed the webserver 7 (as root), it asked me if I wanted to start-up the admin-server automatically and I typed in Yes, however it did not create a script for it in the startup (either in init.d or rc3.d) and it's not starting up automatically.
I'd like to know how to do this and also I have 20 sites (instances) that need to start up automatically as well. Going through the GUI is a pain as sometimes, I have to restart a site twice, because it doesn't start up the first time. There are no errors at all.. I suck as scripting, but here is something I was working on.. It doesn't work though.
startup.sh script
/usr/bin/find webserver7/servers/https* -name start -print > list
count=`ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep webservd | wc -l`
clear
echo "\n\n\nThere are currently " $count " web servers running."
echo "\nEnter the Certificate db Password:\n"
read pass
echo "\nYou Entered: " $pass
echo "\n\nOK to proceed with starting all the web servers? [yes/no]\n"
read ans
if [ $ans = yes ]
then
tmp=`echo "echo" \"$pass\" "|\ "`
sed -e "s/^/$tmp/" list > .list.tmp ; chmod 400 .list.tmp ; rm list
awk -f start.awk .list.tmp > .list ; chmod 500 .list ; rm .list.tmp
./.list ; rm .list
sleep 3 ; echo "\n\n\nThere are currently "`ps -ef | grep -v grep | grep webservd | wc -l` " web servers runni
ng."
else
clear
echo "\n\n\n"
echo "You did not answer 'yes'. Bailing..." ; rm list ; exit
fi
start.awk script
BEGIN { RS = "\n" ; FS = "/" }
print "echo \"\\n\""
print "echo \"Starting up " $5 "\""
print $0 " &" }
Thanks!
Much appreciated!

Instance failed after applying patch
i am learning on ides. i applied patch #10 to my system, some how it failed to apply, now my instance is not starting up , is there any way to undo the patch. thanks for the reply
Hi,
Usually instance startup is nothing to take with the Patches applied specially in ABAP kind of system. If your Patch implementation is in middle, So you must be getting lots lots of dump...But system should come up in most of cases.
Ok...Now...have you changed something related to Parameters (Memory, DB related or any other parameters)...because parameters change is something very crucial when your system is not coming up?
Please post some more inforrmation so that we can help you out.....Please try to debug step wise...
1) is DB is coming up?
2) if yes, please post some relevent info from dev_disp, dev_w0 or dev_ms file or from some other files which are getting updated when you are trying to restart your system.
With Regards,
Saurabh

Hi
New Installation. Sharepoint 2013, Project Server 2013 and SQL Server 2008 SP1 (another box).
When I try to create Project Web App Instance, I get
Provisioning 'PWA': Post provisioning setup failed. Exception 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Failed to find Project Site object. Are there any database mounted?
Followed by:
Failed to provision site PWA with error: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Failed to find Project Site object. Are there any database mounted?
Already tried reinstalling the whole farm to no avail. Farm Admin account is used to do everything within this process.
Thanks in anticipation.Hi
I got the same error when provisioning the PWA

Windows 7 Pro x64 now BSOD just as it is starting and Startup Repair has failed
As the title says, a few days ago my Windows 7 Pro x64 started to BSOD just as Windows is starting but the error screen disappears immediately.
Startup Repair fails and has Problem Signature 04: 21199350
I have used the Windows 7 Pro installation DVD and opened its Command Prompt option and then run the chkdsk and sfc programs but no errors were reported. Also, I ran bootrec with /fixmbr then with /fixboot and finally with /rebuildbcd but it made no difference.
After a failure, the next time I turn on the PC I am offered to repair Windows or to start windows normally. Using the repair from here didn't work as also happened when I chose the repair option from the Windows 7 Pro installation DVD.
Holding down the f8 key when Windows is starting doesn't make any difference.
BTW, the crash happens as the 4 small parts of windows are approaching each other on the Windows start screen.
I can access my hard disk by attaching it to my laptop. If the error 21199350 reported by Startup Repair failure is not the BSOD error, will this be recorded in a file each time it happens? If so, which file?
Any help will be greatly appreciated as I dread having to reinstall Windows 7 Pro from scratch again and all the many programs I spent ages installing.
Thanks
PaulSorry for the delay in replying.
This evening I managed to modify the PC registry from the Startup Repair command window so it wouldn't reboot on BSOD.
Used regedit.exe to modify the following in the PC's registry (I followed the 17 July 2011 Terra-byte "Modify the Windows Registry from Startup Repair" article):
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\CrashControl] and set AutoReboot to 0x00000000.
and also for ControlSet002.
The BSOD error is: 0x0000007B which seems to be a device driver problem.
Would my problem be caused by my installing 2x 2GB DIMMs that I bought on eBay into my Abit AB9 Pro motherboard's two free slots (the other two slots each have 1GB DIMMs) but on power on nothing happened?
Removing the two new DIMMs the PC powered on but then resulted in BSOD.
Thanks
Paul
Error 0x000000tB is a very often reported error. It means INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE. Either something in your BIOS changed the type of storage device (AHCI -> IDE) or your HDD is experiencing a possible failure.
See info @ 0x0000007B (INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE): Fix for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1
