  • Switch Oracle user (Oracle 11g Win 2003)

    Hi guys,
How do I switch between users on windows
    Unix: su - ora11g
    Windows:
    Thank you.

    hi try this:--
You can switch users from the Windows Command Prompt without logging off—if say,
you need to access folders or files for another Windows user account.
    1. Quit explorer.exe
    2. Open Command Prompt
    3. Navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32
    4. Enter the following command: runas /user:*computer name\*account name explorer.exe
Make sure you are cognizant of which user is logged in because this process
will not change the Windows theme when the user changes
    thanks.

Seems these lines are telling the tale:
Symbol file E:\ORADB\product\11.2.0\dbhome_1\BIN\orannzsbb11.SYM does not match binary.
Symbol TimeStamp=4b62bd94, Module TimeStamp=0 are different
I don't understand why the symbol table doesn't match the binary unless someone 'stepped' on one of them (meaning overwrote them).  Have you checked %ORACLE_HOME%\bin for file times?

  • Enterprise manager 11g - win 2003 - sys/passwd error

We have windows 2003 server and we are running 2 oracle databases in
    version 11g.
We were successfully configured EM for one database and when we tried for the other database we encountered configuration errors and the log file doesnt carry that much info for me to understand the error. I searched on google and was able to find one solution, which stated that the ocijdbc11.dll was overlooked and ocijdbc10.dll is needed to fix the issue." It was a bug". I tried the solution and it worked, however the emca command ended saying cannot start dbcontrol. Went through the log and found DBCONTROL created and secured.
So manually restarted DBCONTROL, it started well.
I opened the page and tried logging in using sys/passwd as sysdba, it didnt allow me in.
I even deconfigured and configured again. i got the same error.
Can anybody suggest what would be the cause and solution or work
    around for this.
    Thank you

  • 2 instances 1 db  11g Win 2003

    Hi Guys,
I have 2 instances running on 1 database. How do I move between the 2
On solaris this is what I'll do: export ORACLE_SID=newsid
    set ORACLE_SID=newsid
    On Windows what to do?

    hi,
You set the oracle_sid and connect to db- it will let u know whether connected to "idle instance" or not - that provides the information for your whether instance is up and running or not.
    Other options would be
    1. Check Task Manager for the ORACLE.EXE process. If it is present, then the service started.
    2. Check the Alert Log for the database. If the problem is not with the database, there will be no indication in the log that the database even tried to start.
    3. Check the oradim.log in the $ORACLE_HOME/database directory for errors. Check the date on the log file as versions before 9i did not date/time stamp the entries.

  • Backup db using expdb/impdb (Oracle 11g Windows 2003)

    Hi Guys,
I'm currently doing backups using expdb/impdb due to problems we have with BackupExec when I use RMAN. But what I want to find out is that would you call expdb/impdb a hot or a cold backup? Or should I say what happens when the user is trying to access the database while expdb/impdb is in progress?
    Thank you.

expdp is not consider any form of backup. It's just an alternate way to export the data into dump files and import when required. You can not do any sort of recovery with expdp dumps.
depends on number of CPU's you have and number of parallel threads you are using, users may experience spikes in the busy database.

    Hi,
the answer is simple. check first if TWO_TASK parameter is set to value from Ur tnsnames.ora. usually this environment variable must not be set for servers, only for client side. that means try 'unset TWO_TASK' and then should work.
    best regards,
