Startup screen has a circle with a bar through it

When starting my Macbook the apple logo goes to a circle with a bar through and then it just freezes.

Hi Doug....if you take your install DVD...place it in the disk drive and hold down the 'C' key while restarting the MacBook....will it boot from the DVD?

I updated my computer to the new software and now the iPhoto has a circle with a line through it. When I first try to open it the pop us says: "You can't use this version of the application "iPhoto" with this version of OS X. Version: 9.2.1" When I try to update, it pops up to say "These apps cannot be accepted by your apple id - These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID and they will be available in that Apple ID's purchases list. If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the application". I checked and there is nothing under the "purchases" in my App store. Then will say "update unavailable with this apple id - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canceled." Then the third pop up says "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again". Just want to know how do to fix.

After I upgraded to Mavericks I was also having this message when I tried to update. There was a previous post about this problem which offered this simple solution which worked for me:

Got it! Thanx. What I did was go to my account, check that they had my new ID and Password which they did, then hit reset button. All fixed.

I've just restored from a computer crash and re installed Creative Cloud 6 on my clean computer. Since then I've tried to use illustrator but can't get the type tool to function. It appears but has a small circle with a strike through on the bottom right corner and won't insert words when I type. I'm a newbie to illustrator and other Adobe products so please be gentle. This was a bigger problem than I thought so I contacted support. The type issue was fixed in the repair.
BTW I am running Creative Cloud 2014 and not cc6 like I thought. Also on PC Windows 7

I also have had a difficult time with Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 crashing upon launch. The support staff was great even though we had to work through several sessions. Below is the email explaining our final session.
This email is in regards with the issue you had been facing with Illustrator CC 2014.
While going through the installer logs, we found that there was an issue with the installation & the program installer had been denied access to several critical files & folders during installation.
This was the main reason for Illustrator crash as several critical components had not been installed properly.
We tried installing the program in a new user account & that worked.
Though the program has been installed properly now & is working in your old account, I will still strongly recommend you to get your computer user account repaired with a Windows 7 operating system diskette.
This is required so that you do not run into more trouble later while working with the Adobe Applications or even while installing other programs.
Avanish Divya was the final support person that successfully resolved my problems.
I hope this helps other panicked users.

Macbook pro wont start up-start up screen has a circle with line through it

When i turn my computer on it goes to the login screen, when i type in my password, an apple pops up on a grey screen, the computer thinks for a few minutes then a circle with a diagonal line through it pops up. Im hoping there is a way to fix this issue without loosing all of my data. i just got a hard drive but havent had a chance to back everything up yet. i know i signed up for some kind of back up with apple where they gave me a key # that i needed to save. i have that number but im really not sure what it is or how to use it. PLEASE HELP!

Are you referring to the *Do Not Disconnect* screen display while your iPod is plugged into and syncing with iTunes? Check out this Apple support document for its meaning and why you are receiving this icon. This icon always appears when you are syncing your iPod with iTunes. It's basically a warning message telling you that the iPod is currently in use and should not be removed.

If you still have problems after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod then you very likely have a hardware problem. I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I have used Firefox for years on my Mac laptop for years, I tried to update to version 4 and now I have no Firefox and every time I download the the Firefox the emblem has a awhite circle with a cross through it, so I can't drag it to applications.

The support page is ridiculous, it assumes you already have Firefox and that the install went fine. I am having trouble with an update to Version 4. I have an ibook G4 running OS X. I have used Firefox for years. When I downloaded the update, the Firefox logo thing that you are supposed to drag to the Applications folder has a white circle with a line through it. I have rebooted many times and have updated all other software.

I wouldn't trust any Firefox "update" from a non-Mozilla website. Sometimes, unofficial builds contain adware or malware. If you want to use Firefox for AOL do so at your own risk.

This sounds different than with my IOS devices, since I am able to see the photos even with a connection to the Internet.
Do you mean without a connection to the internet? With a connection it's logical you would be able to see the PS.

This tells me that the image files are not on the HD unless the subscriber chooses to download them.
