Startup Script folder empty - no Bridge CS5 Output to Web?

Something must have gone wrong installing CS5 Photoshop over CS4 Indesign!
Even after net-updating to Bridge 4.0.2 the startup script folder (Preferences > Startup Scripts) is empty. When selecting the Output Workspace in Bridge, there is no pane that let one output to Web Gallery or Contact Sheet.
I'm doing this meanwhile in CS4 Bridge, where it works fine. This Bridge version was coming with CS4 InDesign.
I downloaded CS5 Photoshop in April (I guess it's an International English upgrade) running it on OSX 10.6.4 on a new 17" Book.
Is there an upgrade coming, how can I achieve full functionality of Bridge CS5?
Than you in advance for your input,
Bernd Rummel

Hi Omke,
I did download and install the Photoshop CS5 upgrade by April. Since the Output to Web Gallery pane was not there at the Output workspace as well as all Sartup Scripts are missing at Bridge Preferences, I completely reformatted (actually changed the partitions) and reinstalled OSX 10.6.3, my 17" Book came with. Than I upgraded to OSX 10.6.4.
Now, before doing (screwing up) anything else, I installed Acrobat 9 and run the rather lengthy process of installing each and every upgrade to the latest version. Than I installed InDesign CS4 (version 6) and upgraded this. Finally I installed Photioshop CS5, only to still have the Startup Scripts and subsequently the output to web gallery pane missing. Of course, also the Twitter and Facebook stuff is not there. However, this is not my concern since I do not use them.
The upgrade to Bridge 4.0.2 didn't change anything, so didn't todays upgrade to Photoshop 12.0.1.
Please note that I do not use the CS Suite but upgrade Adobe Acrobat, InDesign and Photoshop individually, which used to work fine for many years. And so I have Bridge CS4 and Bridge CS5 installed side by side. At the CS4 version the Startup Scripts and Output to Web Gallery does work as expected the CS5 version of Bridge is short of both. This shouldn't happen, since I installed CS5 Photoshop over Bridge CS4.
Actually two weeks back I tied to un-install both the CS4 Bridge as well as the CS5 Photoshop, and than to just install Photoshop CS5 without InDesign with Bridge CS4 being installed. The Startup Scripts and Output to Web Gallery wasn't there either.
Do you think I can get an other Photoshop CS5 softcopy somewhere that makes my serial number as well as the output to web gallery work? This would turn me back to be a happy photoshopper that I am since version 2.5... when I switched from Cibachrome in darkroom to Photoshop on Mac now about 16 years back.
I look forward to your input.

  • Bridge CS5 Output to Web & PDF not appearing/ working

    Hi there, I'm using Bridge CS5 and the image processor and the output function has stopped working all of a sudden. All the appears is an empty panel in it's place.
    I have done some reading through the discussions here and found my start up scripts folder is completely empty.
    What can I do to fix this?
    Can anyone help please???
    Nat

    What can I do to fix this?
    Quit Bridge and first use Apple Disk utility to check and repair the permissions for your start up disk. After this has been done restart Bridge holding down option (alt) key and choose reset preferences.
    When still in trouble also look at PS. Be sure to have all your customized settings, tools brushes and actions etc. saved as a back up so you can easily reload them if needed. The restart PS holding down shiftoptioncmd and also in here choose reset preferences. Again start Bridge holding down option key and again reset prefs. Try again. Could you report back if this worked?

  • Bridge CS5 "output templates" no longer loads; the output panel is blank. Where is the script?

    Bridge CS5 "output templates" no longer loads after my system back-up; the output panel is blank.
    The other Workspace features appear to be functional.
    What/Where is the  output script supposed to be?

    If it worked before and you have changed nothing I would reset the preferences.  Close Bridge then hold down the CTRL key and start Bridge.  You should get a reset window with 3 optons.

  • Hidden network drives "home" and "net" shown in folder view Adobe Bridge CS5 / Lion Problem

    Updated to Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion and got this "problem":
    The hidden network drives "home" and "net" shown in folder view Adobe Bridge CS5 (unlike in 10.6 Snow Leopard).
    Normally these network drives are hidden (in Finder and other Apps) - but Adobe Bridge CS5 is showing them, despite "show hidden files" is unchecked in Adobe Bridge.
    Not a dramatic "bug", but it also shouldn't be a big problem for Adobe Bridge engineers to solve this. My first question to the Adobe Support was answered like: "we don't know what Apple did change, so we cannot do anything". Hmmm, are you serious?
    I tried to resolve that problem by myself but failed. So, if an Adobe engineer is reading this post: perhaps Adobe Bridge is ignoring the automounter master map (that was my approach to resolve it):
    # Automounter master map
    +auto_master                    # Use directory service
    /net           -hosts                 -nobrowse,hidefromfinder,nosuid
    /home                                        auto_home       -nobrowse,hidefromfinder
    /Network/Servers               -fstab
    /-                              -static
    You cannot do anything to these folders, so it is not a serious issue, but, I mean, did someone at Adobe check compatibiliy with 10.7 and ignored this issue? If so, are there an other issues ignored?
    But I guess, the compatibilty update for Bridge CS5 for Lion is Bridge CS6 - to be fair: I also have to say, that in general Bridge is running okay on Mac OS X 10.7.2 (but could be better, as always;)

    Hi Curt Y,
    thanks for your answer! Yes you' re right, I forgot to mention that ... before I posted here, I sent a bug report via the Apple Bug Report webpage about the issue ... of course, here are 2 parties involved.
    I had a similiar problem once and I got a meesage back from Apple: "that it is a 3rd party problem, sorry" (it was about color management).
    I am just a user and I often feel very strange about Apple's (topsecret) communication behaviour ... Whatever, what do I know about software engineering? - Right.
    Maybe someone on this forum has an idea, because I'm afraid, thus it is not a serious bug, no one would take care about it in the next time (during my research I found an older post here on the forum about the same problem ...).
    thanks for help in advance,

  • Bug with Bridge CS5 output /web gallery - renames files with ASCII

    has anyone found a fix around this ? It makes my HTML galleries useless since it renames all the original files in ASCII code and there is no work around this.
    I know that this issue has been going on for a while but Adobe hasn't done anything about this yet

    Solved!
    This works for Windows.  I imagine the Mac solution is similar. Props to William Zauscher for helping find an answer.
    I take no responsibliity for any damage caused to your computer, Photoshop or Bridge...
    In Windows, browse to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Bridge CS5 Extensions\Adobe  Output Module\mediagallery\resources\scripts
    In the file named "galleryCreator.jsxinc" replace the lines:
    AOM.AmgGalleryCreator.createUniqueFileName = function(filePath, jpgFile,  createMode)
        var alteredName;
        while (true)
             alteredName = "_";
            for (var i=0; i<10; i++)
                 alteredName += Math.floor(Math.random() * 10);
             alteredName += ".jpg";
            var f = new File(filePath +  alteredName);
            if (!f.exists)
                break;
         return alteredName;
    ...with the following:
    AOM.AmgGalleryCreator.createUniqueFileName = function(filePath, jpgFile, createMode)
                    var alteredName;
                    while (true)
                                    alteredName = "_";
                                    alteredName += jpgFile += ".jpg";
                                    var f = new File(filePath + alteredName);
                                    if (!f.exists)
                                                    break;
                    return alteredName;
    You can cut and paste the above.  Just save a version of the original file somewhere in case of screwups...
    Cheers!

  • Bridge CS6:  Output to Web or PDF - insufficient disk space..

    I have recently installed the CS6 cloud version of Bridge, but now get this error when trying to produce (or refresh) a contact sheet using Output to Web or PDF - There is insufficient disk space to complete this operation
    The error occurs no matter what the file size is, or if multiple of single files are selected - and as the sole application open. I'm running the application in OS X 10.8, with 8GB of RAM and 512MB of VRAM, so disk space doesn't seem to be the issue?
    I've just installed the lastest Bridge update, but this has made no difference. Thanks for your feedback in advance..

    I've found an old post which highlights a USERS folder conflict?
    Without any significant knowledge about working over a network I do know Bridge uses a Cache file on a user related base. So it might be possible it confuses the two folders if you have both company and private network based on the same user name.
    But as said, just a wild guess. If you need to work over a network try the blog from the Image Archivist, he also used to hang around here in the past:
    http://imagearchivist.blogspot.nl

  • Bridge CS5 Output Module only uses first 20 images and ignores the rest

    This happens with all the different styles, both PDF and Web.  Even though more than 20 images are selected, only 20 show up both in the preview and in the final PDF or web page.  It just started happening.

    It just started happening.
    This always means First Aid for Bridge, that is first to purge cache for
    folder using the menu tools/cache/purge cache for folder while having the
    content window pointed to the folder the problem occurs.
    Second option is renew preferences by holding down option key while
    restarting bridge and choose refresh preferences. Try again and if OK set
    prefs again to your wishes to see if it still works.

  • Photoshop Startup scripts folder

    I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I can't find and/or google the answer: where can I put a jsx script to be executed when Photoshop CS5 (64bit) starts? I would like to add some menu items (like in indesign), I hope it's not a problem in PS?
    thanks

    Mark is right, you can't add menu items. The closest you will get is to have scripts showing in either the Filter Menu or the Help Menu.

  • Missing startup script in bridge cc

    I have photoshop cc and bridge cc loaded on my computer. I also had CS6 on the same computer.  I deleted photoshop CS6 from my computer. When I try to open a file in bridge cc I get an errer message that cs6 cannot be found.  I checked my bridge cc startup scripts folder file and it is empty.  Has anyone had the same problem?

  • Bridge CS6 output panel has vanished!

    Hi I am not on CC I have CS6 which I have just migrated from a G5 (6.8)  to a MacPro (10.10.2) only to find that the output panel on Bridge has vanished. I am unable to find anyway of getting it back. Any advice anyone? !
    I have located via the hidden Library  Bridge CS6 Application Support file and the startup scripts folder is empty.... what to do?

    OSX 10.8.2
    Bridge : CS6 (version 5.0.1.21)
    No software updates have been installed. The Output would give me option to PDF or Web.
    Nothing is happening now. The RIGHT hand window pane is completely empty.
    I select my three images, click on Output and nothing happens. (Just three selected images and and empty pane on the right hand side.)
    As of a month ago, this worked. I selected three images and Output, a whole window would show up with options to adjust the layout of my pdf sheet.
    I could fill in the header and footer, select columns and rows, resolution. Everything. Now nothing shows up.
    I can't describe it anymore than that.
    Thanks for any help

  • Check for libraries with a startup script

    Is it possible to check for open libraries with a startup script?  Currently, i'm trying like this:
    try{
         app.libraries.item("Marks.indl").name
    catch(e){
         app.open(File("/Support/InDesign/Lib/Marks.indl"))
    If InDesign is already open, this code works correctly (that is, if the library is open, nothing happens, otherwise it opens the library).  However, if I place this in the startup script folder, it will open a second (third, fourth, etc.) copy of the library, even if the library is already open.
    I think this happens because the library files are opened later in the startup sequence then the startup scripts are run.  Is there any way to work around this?
    Thanks,
    /dan

    Is your script supposed to work in ID CS3, or later?
    Anyway, InDesign CS4 seems to reopen the libraries before launching startup scripts, so the following code works for me:
    // Startup Script
    const libName = "Marks.indl",
      libPath = "/Support/InDesign/Lib/";
    var libFile = libPath + libName;
    if( !app.libraries.itemByName(libName).isValid )
      try {app.open(File(libFile))}
      catch(_){alert("Unable to open the library:\r"+libFile);}

  • Bridge CS5 will not open on new computer

    I deactivated ps cs5 on my old computer and used my ps cs5 upgrade disk to install it on my new win 7 ultimate computer. It should be clean install but I did migrate many files from the old win xp computer with windows easy transfer. Bridge will not open and I can not find it listed in my programs. I tried to run my old cs4 upgrade disk and it shows that I have bridge cs4 installed even though I never installed ps cs4 on this machine. Is it possible that some old migrated files are now blocking bridge cs5 from opening? I tried to reset preferences by holding the ctrl key and clicking on bridge but nothing will open. Would this be solved by upgrading to CS6 or will I still have the same issue if bridge cs5 does not open? I tried to run the bridge cs5 update but it will not install. I do not get any error message at any time. Adobe support advisor found an unnamed error but can not recommend a solution.

    I ran the creative suite cleaner and removed all files from cs3, cs4. But they are still there listed in c>programfiles (x86)>adobe. I can see adobe bridge cs4 and adobe bridge cs5. when i run bridge.exe from adobe bridge cs5 folder it opens bridge cs5. but i cannot open bridge while ps cs5 is open. I can't seem to delete the cs4 files as it says i need administrator rights, which are somehow not available.
    Update: Somehow it did work, even though the cs4 program files are still there. I opened mini bridge from within cs5 and it said something to the effect that it needed to close cs4 bridge and use cs5, i clicked okay and my files were displayed in mini bridge cs5. I closed that and then clicked the bridge icon from within ps cs5 and bridge cs5 opened. I guess I changed the preferences somehow. Thanks for your answer and suggestion, which may well have been the solution or it led me to the correct step. The big point is that I avoided the big reinstall I dreaded after two days of getting cs5 set up with all plug-ins,etc installed. Thanks for your help!

  • Not allow users to disable startup script

    I have written a User Login script for indesign and have successfully implemented in Indesign CS3. However, anyone can disable the login script that I have put in the Startup script by modifying the Preference setting of the Indesign.  I would be very grateful if any one there could suggest me on how to not allow the users to disable the login script put inside the Startup Script folder.
    Thanks,
    Limbu, Keshar

    Thank you very much for you response. But, it is not about the user right permission. There is a selection options in the Perference setting of Indesign. If you untick that option, Indesign will run bypassing the scripts in the startup scripts folder. Is there any way to not allow the users to not select this option so that the startup scripts does not get bypassed?
    In the above preference setting the last check box is not selected hence Indesign will bypass all startup scripts. Only if this last option is selected the startup scritps will run.
    Thanks

  • Targetengine not persistent if not used in startup-script?

    Hello all,
    I just created m first CS4 script that links into menu events.
    In CS3 I was used to be able to start this kind of scripts from the Scripts panel. When I tried with my new script in CS4 I got the error "Can't complete, because object no longer exists" (or similar)
    I do not get the error when I place the script into the startup scripts folder.
    I understand this to say that a function that is placed in the '#targetengine "session'" at startup is persistent, but not if it is created by a call from ESTK.
    Is this known? Is this intentional? Am I simply overlooking something?
    Thank you
    Gerald

    targetengines from ESTK have never been persistent. They are if you run from the Scripts panel or from a startup script.
    I used to create a couple of persistent engines with startup scripts for my CS3 scripts.

  • Bridge CS5.1 Tools are missing and there are no startup scripts available.

    Brand new MBP with Creative Suite CS5. Not sure what happened to the Bridge Image Processing Tools that where readily available in CS4. I looked for the Startup Scripts mentioned in other forum posts but this folder is empty: Library > Application Support > Adobe > Bridge CS5.1.
    Why make us hunt for Startup Scripts?

    I think you may be misunderstanding me.
    With many advantages with using mail for this forum the disadvantage sometimes is you don't have oversight in the whole thread.
    I was merely reacting on Curt with the CS5 and CS5.5 solution that solved some problems earlier this year but reading the thread again that seems not related to yours.
    Shortly before Curt his post I read your post about renaming the default folder name (which to me sounds bad). Hence my reference to a solution of an older problem that was solved by creating a new folder with the 5.1 addition and copy the scripts in there
    However I still don't understand why you are not able to have a normal setup after clean install.
    Without having experience with Lion I really would try the Recovery Disk for resetting your user account. With Pre Lion you could do an Archive and Install and it seems Lion also has such an option.
