Statci content refresh on portal.

hi gurus,
Enterprise portal question here..!
Am deploying static files (html) on my portal under usr/sap/sid/inst/j2e/cluster/sever*/apps/sap.com/irj/servlet_jsp/irj/root/staticcontent , we have 1 ci + 4 apps and 29 server nodes total.
So we got to deploy this on all the nodes which is time consuming process and clear cache from Visual admin for each node.
Could anyone shed some light if we can do the content refresh for all teh nodes at once from the main /irj/portal page. I couldnt find anything under system administration options.
Please assist.

Hi Durga,
The idle method of deployment in case of more number java server nodes and x number App Servers implemention.
stop all App Servers instances and keep only CI online.
Then logon using Administrator/equaliant authorized user
Deploy your content.
Start CI
restart CI
start DI (App Servers)
here CI now takes care of keeping all App Servers in sync with the content of CI.
I hope this gives enough guidence for you to accomplish your task.

Hello all,
I want to refresh only portal content area without refreshing the navigation contents.
Eg;- When i click on the any document present in the REPORTS folder in Detailed Navigation Area only the portal contents should get refreshed.

Links on DTN?Are they on a custom Iview?? Then u control with url mode.
If they are page links, i don think u cud restrict one WD application not to refresh when the whole page getz refreshed.

ReturnToPortal() doesn't refresh the portal page

In the community preference page, when finishing changing the preference, calling IPortletResponse.ReturnToPortal() closed the preference page but didn't refresh the portal page. What needs to be done to refresh the portal page so the portlet can be refreshed with the new pref data?

This is why it doesn't work...
There is a bug that I filed for this, basically that icon on the portlet header works for user and admin preferences... it make sense to add community preferences there too to make it all consistent.
The problem is: community preferences behaved differently.. in 5.x, the only way to edit them was to go through edit this community... the refresh mechanism is built into the community editor.
In g6 that didn't change... you still need to go through that route to actually update the portal with the new preferences. going through the icon does nothing. user and admin prefs will work b/c they also worked like that in 5.x.
Basically, it's a bug b/c community prefs never worked like that... adding it to the button promoted the sense that it should work, which it never did...
so you have to go through the edit this community route to make it refresh.

this might relate to a bug of the early deploy command versions which allowed deployment only to destinct suborgs (-d), so don't deploy you staff to gloabl (-g option).

I´m Learning XML Forms but I have red that it is too static and I was wondering how do we manage content within Portal and KM? is there another tool to create and deploy content within the Portal? or it has to be developed and called from an iView?

Hello Gerardo,
I agree with you that XML Forms are static, that means you create one form for each common structure document that is to be published.
But this functionality has its own advantage, check this link for more infos:

Once you have your XMLForms ready use these forms to publish documents and then show them in you IView.

While accessing content in weblogic portal from the content repository, can
i filter based on the content TYPE ? None of the standard tag libs (such as
<cm:search>, <pz:contentSelector> ) allow me to do that.
Please let me know if there is a way to do that.

Content Administration -> Portal Content--> double-click the role you want to set priority to- click properties and find Sort Priority.

Transport content between two Portals (DEV - Prod)

Hi Everybody,
how can i transport a content from one Portal to another one? I heard there is a possibility in Visual Admin for transport Content between a Development and a Productive System.
I know only the way by Federated Portal Network. Is this the only possibility and what about KM-Konfiguration is there a way for transporting?

you can download and upload your portal transports.
System administrator -> transport.
KM folders: you can just copy everything by open the KM dir as a webfolder.

TabNavigator Tab content refresh

Hi,
I have a TabNavigator with let's say two Tabs - TabA and TabB along with its contents. Both tab contents read and change xml on which their both contents depends. If i click TabA, then on TabB in which content i modify xml and then return to TabA which also depends on that xml but change won't be reflected like TabA content is not refreshed :/ So i am not sure how to handle that, how can i accomplish that Tab content refreshes every time i click on Tab?

Content not getting refresh on Portal Page

Hi,
The structure of my page is WorkSet->Page-> iView1 + iView2.
Prob 1: iView1 is a URL iView and the page to be displayed is an html page stored on the server. I changed the content of the html page on the server but the same is not getting reflected on the portal page.
iView2 is a webdynpro application.
Prob 2: Any changes made to the pages like making iView1 visible-false, reflects the changes in the preview but not when the page is opened through workset.

once again check with navigation cache and other PCD cache related issues , do it once again.
if you are not getting then simply delete that content from production and check the issues in development and Qulaity
servers.after you get d desired output transport them into production. then sure it work.

Content Area in Portal Page: subfolder vs category

Hi everybody,
i've tried to publish a content area + navbar in a portal page: if i click to a SUBFOLDER on the folder portlet , the subfolder appears in the context of the portal page. But if i click a link to a CATEGORY, the category is loaded in the content area and not in the portal page. Does anybody know how to keep the content area in the portal page, that is
to refresh the
portlet in the context of the portal page ?

i have a requirement to replace the existing role to the user through webdynpro dynamically based on user input.
This i am able to do successfuly but here i am facing the problem. the added role is not displaying until unless clicking on rfresh button in browser.

I did not expect that you are using portal navigation (navigation between two Ivews) as this information was not clear in your earlier posts.
To achieve this (refreshing the parent ivew) in portal navigation (navigation between two Ivews):
You need to raise an event in the button action of PDFIview as below:
WDPortalEventing.fire ("urn:com.sap.tc.webdynpro.test.portal",
                       "TestEvent",
                       "AParameter");
You need to subscribe the same event in parent ivew:
WDPortalEventing.subscribe ("urn:com.sap.tc.webdynpro.test.portal",
                            "TestEvent",
                            wdThis.wdGetTestEventAction());
in TestEventAction you can write the code to refresh the table in Parent IView

In Portal Content admin Role "Portal content" folder is not displaying

I created a user in EP and assign Only Content admin Role. But in portal content area "Portal content "folder is not displaying.
Can someone help me the process steps to achieve it?

It is because the user has no proper permissions to the porta content folder.
you should give atleast read permission to the portal content folder to the content_admin role or to the users who have content admin role.
also make sure the end user check box is checked at the time of giving permissions.
Otherwise give eevryone group as read permisisons to the portal content folder. then you can see the portal content folder with read permissiosn only.

Can't deploy content.jar on Portal 8.1 SP4 with DB2

Have installed WebLogic Portal 8.1 SP4 with DB2 8.1.8. While deplying content.jar which contains BEA's classes relatives to the content management, the following exception is raised:
<Oct 19, 2005 2:54:32 PM MEST> <Error> <EJB> <BEA-011076> <Unable to deploy the EJB 'ValueBean' because the database table 'CMV_VALUE' is not accessible. Please ensure that this table exists and is accessible.>
Of course, the CMV_VALUE table exists and it has records inside. Every thing seems to be okay from the point of view of connection pools, data sources and JNDI names. The deployment works properly with Oracle and PointBase.
The JDBC driver I'm using is com.ibm.db2.jcc.Db2Driver.

More information is required to help you, and as James suggested, the best option would be to move to EclipseLink instead of TopLink Essentials as EclipseLink is actively being developed and is the JPA 2 RI.
Running it on the latest EclipseLink ensures that you are not hitting an issue that has already been fixed, and both are based off TopLink.
Are you deploying an Ear or an exploded directory? If the later, can you try using an Ear?
