State of Mosaic project

Hello.
I confused a bit with state of Mosaic project - is it present in LiveCycle ES3 suit and merely renamed(I cant find it in ES3) or it is not part of ES3 and became a sole project(may be open source)?
Which the most recent version of it, and can it be used outside of LiveCycle EC2.5? Is there a new version in development or it freezes on 9.5 version?

Any way to get stats on a project? (e.g. how many cuts)

I have completed a a project which runs at 01:42:00 - a documnetary - and purely out of interest I wondered if there was any way to get any stats for it, such as how many files actually used (from hundreds of hours of footage), how many edit points etc....things of that nature. Is this possible in any way that anyone out there knows of?

The video and audio useage stats are in the Project Window Columns.
An EDL will show you how many files are used and how many edits and transitions.

How to get project server in provisioning state?

Hi All,
We are working in project server 2013 and integrated it with Microsoft TFS 2010 successfully, but the problem we are getting since two days is we are not able to create or update projects or tasks in project server
and Queue is not utilizing any space in CPU as it consuming only 0-0.1% of it, which must be higher in case of project server
the mail problem we are thinking is project server is not in provisioning state in "Manage Project Web App" page under central administrator. please refer the below image

You can run the below commands to provision the PWA. However, if you have customization being done in
the PWA then I would suggest you raise a support ticket with Microsoft to troubleshoot the issue further.
1. Get the GUID of the Project Server service application and copy the value
Get-SPServiceApplication
2. Run the below command after replacing the Project Server Service Application ID
$serviceapp = get-spserviceapplication | ? {$_.Id -like "ccc61d40-7787-4bac-ac75-75c2b7f19d07"}
3. Get the site collections
$pwainstances = $serviceapp.Sitecollection
4. display the site collections:
$pwainstances | ft name, id
5. Copy the GUID of the PWA instance and paste it in the below command:
$PWAProp = $pwainstances | ? {$_.Id -eq "9cc75053-3523-44c9-aebf-f72c9566e1d5"}
6. Display the properties:
$PWAProp
Once the data is displayed check whether IsUpdating is set to true and IsOnline is set to False if it is then the PWA is not successfully provisioned. Follow the next step only if the above condition is met.
7. You can provision the PWA by running the below command to upgrade the PWA
Upgrade-SPProjectWebInstance -Identity "http://epm.igovtt.tt/PWA"
8. Post this verify the properties of the PWA by running the steps 5 and 6 again. Now the value for IsUpdating should be False and IsOnline should be set to True

Tracking Memory usage on iOS using the Stats class

I've been checking memory usage on an app I'm developing for iOS using the Stats class https://github.com/mrdoob/Hi-ReS-Stats ( http://help.adobe.com/en_US/as3/mobile/WS4bebcd66a74275c3-315cd077124319488fd-7fff.html#WS 948100b6829bd5a61637f0a412623fd0543-8000).
I added the Stats class to my project and redeployed and, yikes, memory usage reported in Stats creeps up (pretty slowly) even when there's nothing happening in the app (just showing a loaded bitmap).
To try and track down the issue I created a project with a test class that extends Sprite with just this single call in the constructor :-
addChild( new Stats() );
I deployed it to the device to check that it didn't gobble any memory.
But I was Suprised to watch the memory usage creep up and up (to approx 5) before some garbage collection kicked in and takes memory back down. I left it running and then it crept up again to over 7.5 this time before being kicked back down to just below 3.
So 2 related questions that I'd appreciate any feedback/observations/thoughts on :-
1 - Is this normal (i.e. memory creeping up when there's nothing other than Stats in the project) ?
2 - What is the best way to monitor memory usage within an app ? Is Stats good enough - is Stats itself causing the memory usage ?

My conclusions are :-
- If you run an app and leave it idle, memory usage gradually creeps up (presumably as memory is being used to perform calcs/refresh the display etc)
- Periodically the garbage collection kicks in and memory is brought back down
- This cycle could be in excess of 5 mins
Run with your real app and memory will increase and be released much more rapidly/regularly.
- It's probably worth performing initial checks by running on your desktop to iron out any initial problems

How to import your Air/Flex project from FB 4.6 to FB4.7

It seems so easy.. however, I can't figure out how to do it.
I used to build my projects (Air projects with merged SDK) in FB4, FB4.5 later FB4.6 and now 4.7. But when I import my old project, it gets an old 3.4 AIR SDK. Wtf?
When I go to the project settings and want to change the sdk to my Flex 4.6 with Air 4.0 SDK, I cant! it sais "This project will use AIR SDK 3.4".
So I go to FB settings, add the new SDK in Flex SDK's but still I can't change the SDK from my project.
When I create a new Flex project, I can select the right SDK's. But I never made a Flex project. I make Air projects.
So it seems to me that Flash builder 4.7 can have multiple Flex SDK's (merged or not) for Flex projects only, and just one SDK for Air projects which you can't be changed.
O and the default is also freaking old.
Now who the hell came up with that stuff at Adobe?...
So I located the Air SDK my FB is using, and replaced it with my Flex4.7 and Air4.0 SDK. No luck, whole FB went nuts.
Anyone has a clue?

FlashBuilder (doesn't matter what version) screws this up all the time. There are so many files related to configuration of the workspace, the projects within the workspace and the eclipse environment that it gets messed up all the time.
I never have this problem in other editors Eclipse based editors like InteliJ, Aptana, FDT etc. It's just Adobe growing / extending a tool which has bad programming in it and not bothering to go back and fix the root of the problem before expanding on it. FlashBuilder doesn't get the attention it deserves from Adobe. If they are not careful in the not too distant future when WebGL is supported on all the major web browsers and tools are released to translate WebGL to OpenGL ES iOS and Android applications AIR might see itself becoming a thing of the past. Esepcially when the tools can't even save the state of the projects they themselves created correctly.

User field in Project def.

Dear All,
I am working on one Yreport which gives STATE/ Location wise output, which we are maintaining in coding mask.
Two characters in coding mask denotes STATE and in same Plant/Site we can have multiple STATE.
Supposing " Minnesota" is a state then in Project def. two character will be "MN".
ABAP team is facing problem fetching this two character from Proj. Def.
Can we have any option like user field at WBS in Project definition level.
Else can you suggest any other option for this requirement.

PS2013 - Creating a new instance of Project Server does not run and hangs in "Waiting for Resource"

Hi,
In my Project Server 2013 environment I created an instance of Project Server which is running in a notebook Hyper-V Windows 2012 Server with 11 GB, 4 threds, 3 GHz, one box configuration with complete version of SQL Server 2012 with SP1, nothing trial.
PS and SPS 2013 updated with Cumulative Update of Dec 2013.
I want to create a new empty instance in the same port 80 with a different URL or in the port 90 creating a new web application.
Whatever option I choose, when I try to create the instance of the Project Server it hangs in "Waiting for Resource" status. No Event Viewer, no hanged timer Jobs, all services running, all pools and sites started and I found out nothing in the
SharePoint Logs. After every attempt I return the server snapshot to the former state.
The Project Server and SharePoint continue to work normally.
Any hints where should I look to solve this issue?

so, the only clue I can find in your posting is around the web application.
if you want a 2nd PWA instance on the same web application (this presums you have one already, working, right?).
all you really have to do is give it a different "pwa" name - like "Test" or some such and use a unique project database name : Test_ProjectServerData
there is much more you could do, for isolation into a private content database for example.
to use a different port, then you need to setup a web application on a different port and proceed as above, selecting that web app to start from.
if the basic action of new pwa site provision is not working, then it may suggest there is something systemmically wrong with the setup.

Flash Builder 4 States.

When you use States, is it doing more than a .visible = false/true type thing?
If you have a event listener on a button from one state, and you go to another state, does that event listener stay with it, or does it dissappear, and you have to re-assign it again. Can you assign it a new listener?
Any negative/cons in terms of using States in a project?

I agree that states were a 'traumatic' experience in previous incarnations, so far they seem to be a better option than they used to be, as per usual we will end up with 2 parties states v. viewstacks.
One big annoyance with states is the 'missing' allstates flag, for example when moving objects around in designview(yeah I know hard core coders have an avid dislike for DV) the IDE should have the smarts built in to know if you are changing the object for the current state or all states.
In general I am finding that moving away from viewstacks to states on the surface seems ok but like anything only time will tell as the use grow more complex, I think that states have moved in the right direction and hopefully will evolve to a point where we don't need to hedge our bets between states/viewstack.

Can't burn any project anymore

When I hit the "Burn"-button, this text appears:
"The current state of the project does not comply with the CDDA format.
Please check the following and try again.
Each track must be at least 4 seconds long.
A CD track can consist of up to 98 index points.
The time between two index points must be at least 1 second long."
I have never seen this before, and it appears in all my project all of a sudden.
Anyone?

Project File Question

I have 2 prproj files for the exact same project, yet they are different
sizes. Anyone know why?

Stepping back a bit, and not directly addressing what you have, and why they *may* be identical, there are three "Save" functions, with three similar, though different aspects to them.
Save - Saves your Project (same filename) over any previous Saved versions, in the exact state that the Project is in, when you hit the button, or Ctrl-s.
Save_As - Saves your Project (prompt for different filename) and does not overwrite anything, unless you choose a filename that already exists. Important difference: You are now working in the newly named Save_As Project, not your original. Note the filename change at the top of your Project. Any files Saved with the original name are still there, and will not be changed by later Saves - you are now in your new Project.
Save_As_a_Copy - Saves a copy of your Project with a new filename, but you are still in your original Project. Note filename at top of screen is unchanged. Your Save_As_a_Copy is Saved in the exact state that it was in, when you hit the button, and any new edits will NOT appear in it. They will only appear when you do a Save or Save_As from it, and with the filename of either the original (first case) or with an assigned filename (latter case).
Similar, but with important differences. Of course we may also have the AutoSave files and if Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy were used, you will likely have folders with AutoSaves reflecting which you may have used. [Review over]
Now, Stanley has a great idea for finding any differences between the two files. It could be something as tiny as having one Panel in focus in one, and another in focus in the other. Or, maybe just some shifting of Assets in Bins, etc. Really good call Stanley. I'd have missed that one.
Color me "curious" as well.

Flash Catalyst - solutions to the 20 states limitation

I have created an interactivew project in Flash Catalyst, however, just as I am about to add the final states to the project, I am told that I am limited to 20 states. Apparently I have exceeded that number and cannot finish my project, which has taken me hours to create.
The help file tells me that the way around the limitation is to encapsulate components. Unfortunately, there are no concrete examples of how to do that.
If someone can help me out here, I shall be very grateful.

I realize that it is difficult to help me unlless I'm more specific as to my project.
The project has a main window with a vertical menu with 10 buttons which displays in every state and opens with an application transition:
I have an 'on click' interaction on each of the buttons, which transitions the user to "contents 1" on a page with a scrolling bar component, using a flex component from the common library:
The button in the lower right corner brings the user to a scrolling panel sub page:
The button in the lower right corner opens a pdf document to allow the reader to print the subject.
This is the structure for all 10 buttons in the vertical navigation bar.
Futhermore, I have animated background boxes coming in from the bottom on the scroplling panel pages.
I was not aware of the 20 states limitation before I started the project and am hoping that I can still save the project by finding a work around that will allow me to fit all my items and their contents into the existing structure, some magic recipe ;0)
If this is not possible, I am hoping that someone can instruct me on how to design the structure to avoid the problem next time around.
Any help will be VERY MUCH APPRICIATED.
By the way, I think Adobe should definitely introduce the states limitation at an early point in their tutorials, so that it does not come as a nasty surprise when it is too late. I have watched all the adobe video tutorials and there is no mention of this limitation.
I hope that they will bring a video tutorial on how to work your way around it, with step by step examples, as soon as possible.

I sincerely hope that you can tell me how to go beyond the 20 states, since the success of my undertaking is utterly dependent on this.

How to input Projects for Input Tax in AP Invoice

Hi Experts,
I am trying to maintain a Balance Sheet wherein for each account I have to state the corresponding Project Code. When creating an AP Invoice, the Input Tax Account does not automatically carries the Project Code with it. I already encode the Project Code in Row details as well as in Accounting Tab of the AP Invoice. Still, the automatic tax code does not show the Project Code in the Journal Entry Preview.
Can you help me with this?

Project Import Bug

Great bug and I used to write software for a living, so I know a good bud when I see one Perfectly repeatable 100% of the time:
Needed to pull together something quickly. Built a new project and imported several old projects to pull assets and some timeline.
So I build project X and import projects A+B+C
Cleaned-up all the un-needed assets and un-used timelines and reorganized everything nice and tidy. Used project manager to blow-away all unused assets.
SO I am left with just X
Burned DVD life is good.
So now I have a finished project X and saved-it-out. Done !
Several weeks later, a guy sees the DVD and wants me to expand the idea and use some of his assets.
OK, dont want to corrupt my finished dvd project [X], so I create a new project and import the final version of the saved dvd project [X] and will add his assets
Basically use final X + new assets to make project Y
Well, upon importing X, I dont get X I get A+B+C ??? in the state prior to using project manager to clean-up
In summary, X is not imported at all, not the final timeline anywhere.. I simple get A+B+C..
I must be crazy, so I close my current project and open the final dvd project [X] and it is in its correct state ---- nice and tidy. I even burn another DVD to make sure the project is not corrupted.
OK, I must have made a mistake, so I go back and create a new project [Y] and import the final state of X and it happens again. I get A+B+C I even try to import auto-saves versions, and still happens.
Now I assume the project bin is managed using a linked-list of pointers, or large pointer array something inside the project file is really screwed-up to cause an import problem like this. Are there history states on the project bin?

Well I figure that I may as well work with what I got. My project has only 100 assets, so what the hell, how long could it take me?
I import X (and get A+B+C)
I re-splice A+B+C to Make a new project Y It will cost me a day, but its snowing right now and what the hell
So I re-clean-up and use project manager to blow-away unused assets basically getting a new Y that is an approximation of X
Come back after a break..
Open Y and PP asked for 3 missing assets.. what the hell??? I write down the names, skip them and use the find function to locate the missing assets in the project.not there at all they were purged during the clean-up. Found them on disk and definitely blown-away in project manager starting to see a pattern here..
Not sure of the structure of the project file, but it must be corrupt And what is interesting, it is remembering a previous state of the file I can open the original X and burn a dvd perfectly. But if I import X, it sees a version of the file that has not existed in monthsNow that is cool
Thinking Most [mission critical] software has built-in validity checking you run a stand-alone software on the database (Oracle, Exchange, Quicken, disk i-node tables, whatever) they all have it I wrote some of this stuff in my time. These programs rifle-through the data and use checksums, Hamming codes, etc.. to see if and data is corrupt, and ask you how you want to fix itPP have a function like this? If so, can I use it to fix my corrupt project? If not, it would be a good feature This would save me many hours at this point
