Static Banner Resizes - Is Edge For Me?

I saw a video that showed how easy resizing a banner can be with Edge.
I know its primarily for motion and interactive banners, but I was wondering if Edge is also helpful for static banners like jpgs?
Our company also will have to create some animated banners down the road but I think HTML5 is too new of a technology for them to put their money on, but I assume it has flash and gif output capabilities.
So for static ads in the meantime, and possible animated (non HTML5 for the time being) ads, would you recommend I start using Edge?
Or is edge not meant for these uses.

From personal experience, a lot of the companies offering ad spots are still only accepting .swf, .gif, .jpg formats. None of which can be directly output from edge. The only instance in which they would accept HTML5 was if we hosted the content and then provided them a link to tether to their banner space. This seems like a fine option if you have hosting space. But I know that's a limit for some.
You cannot export .swf files from edge, so if you are planning on building non HTML5 animated banners you'd be better off using flash.
And if you are working with static ads, paint would be better than Edge . About the only way to export a static image from edge is to take a screen shot.

Sounds like it's a problem with the Acrobat settings. Did you set them to the same resolution?

Resizing Screen Resolution for Specific Apps?

Hello team,
Is it possible to resize screen resolution for specific applications? Most of my apps look fine at 1024x768, but there are a couple of older OS 9 apps that I need to run (talking school computers here) which are a bit on the small side when viewed at that resolution. Can I somehow set things so that when those applications are launched, the resolution changes to 800x600, and then reverts to 1024x768 when they're quit again? Any and all details about this will be most appreciated, and I thank you in advance for your help!

LCD panels must be used at their native resolution. Whatever it is for you monitor is what you must set it to.

Resizing a photo for printing

I am trying to resize a photo for printing to a 8x10 as it still crops off the top and bottom when printing. I took this with my D3100. How can I do this? I have tried printing several times.

Your image does not fit the 8x10 format - so it will always crop - probably not what you wanted to hear. But a couple of solutions for you:
Print the image on a larger paper so that it will fit, you will end up with a border - but will fit or
Resize the image in Photoshop - Image/Size to something like 9" high, that will automatically reduce the width of your image, but you will still end up with a border, but the whole image wil be there
Hope this helps, and maybe next time you can frame the image in camera to ensure your subject fits in a 4x5 ratio (leave a bunch of headroom at top and bottom)

Edge for web advertising

Hi there,
I have tried to make the transition from Flash to Edge for web advertising and have run into a couple of problems.
Firstly the ad serving platforms require the assets to be delivered as one html file and one linked images folder. Edge outputs three js files as well as the html - does anyone know if I can add those script files to the html to consolidate into one file?
The second problem is that the ad serving platforms have issues with tracking Adobe Edge generated assets - has anyone else had this problem?

DiNovo Edge for Mac and vim abbreviations

I bought a diNovo Edge for Mac, the best keyboard I have ever had. Except that the function keys
can only be re-programmed to actions that are on Logitech's list, not yours.
My .exrc setup file for vi/vim is full of map commands, that I can not use, because
cat -v does not show what these keys transmit.
All right, vi/vim understand abbreviation, let's go there. I would like to type
text lQ text rQ text
and get
text \(lqtext\rq text
for the groff word processor, that would convert \(lq to left double quote and \(rq to right
double quote.
However, the abbreviations need white spaces around them to be expanded, and the trailing space of lQ and leading space of rQ need to be eliminated.
The right quote is working like this but I don't know how, 'cause there is no delete in it:
ab rQ <Esc>i\(rq
but I can't figure out how to get rid of left quote's trailing space.
I've tried in-line movement etc but no cigar.
If one of you already got the solution, please let me know.

Please try the following -
1> Ensure Edge Inspect app is running and listensing to port 7682, using Netstat command.
2> Ensure device and desktop can talk to each other across port 7682, you might have to disable/modify firewall settings
3> use the ip shown in extension popup to connect from device.

Time Machine will not back up to My Passport Edge for Mac. How do I delete the aliases to make room?

Time Machine after running for a few weeks says 'Time Machine couldn't back up 'My Passport Edge for Mac', also new. It needs 365.05 GB only 49.94 are available.
When I click on the My Passport Edge for Mac, I see that it has alias for each file. How do I delete the alias in order to backup my Time Machine???

You do not ever delete anything on the Time Machine drive using the Finder.
Those Alias files are essential to the internal operation of Time machine, and is what allows it to keep only one copy of a file that appears, unmodified, in multiple Backup Sets. If you modify them in any way, you risk Time Machine losing ALL your data.
I expect your backup drive is simply not large enough to do what you are trying to do.

Your best short term solution may be to start a new backup, which will be smaller that the multiple backups on your existing drive. In the long run a Drive 2.5 to 3 times the size of what you want to backup is recommended.

For IE8, can I load static image instead of Edge animation (see page)?

I'm just roughing out a new site and my Edge animation isn't showing in IE8. I've googled and can't find definitive info on whether Edge 4 has support for IE8. I'm assuming not. My question is... is there a way to load a static image for IE8 so at least there is an image to fill that space? This is just going to be a huge roadblock to me continuing to use Edge unfortunately! Well if you look at the code in the url you supplied they are serving NON-IE browsers <![if !IE]> desginated by the ! mark the css and scripts files that are needed to make edge run correclty. Looking at the code in your page you don't have any of those scripts attached.

Resize a Document for web Use

I looked online on how to reduce file size od an .fla file for use on the web but not very clear. I have an .FLA file that is 800X600 px. when I publish it, I reduce file size, audio to mono etc, and I am getting 1.8mb file, way to large for web use. I tried an swf and flv file but same results. I need to reduce the entire document. I read to use the onion skin the highlight everything then resize but I have over 5,000 frames in my movie. Can someone explain in detail, how to highlight all of the frames in the movie, and then reduce the file to say 400 X 300 px? I am able to drag the onion skin but only to the edge of the viewable document then I must scroll over and repeat the process. there must be an easier way to highlight all frames in the movie then resize the whole thing. Any help would be appreciated.

I do not think you understand the question. Here is an answer I got off another forum but do not quite understand how to implement.
If you want to resize everything, a quicker way would be to select all frames (select the onion skin tool) and then resize everything to fit the new canvas size. That way, every frame of your animation will be reduced at once.

Using Static Variable against Context Attribute for Holding IWDView

Dear Friends,
I have a method which is in another DC which has a parameter of the type IWDView. In my view, I will have an action which will call the method in another component by passing the value for the view parameter. Here, I can achieve this in 2 types. One is - I declare a static variable and assign the wdDoModifyView's view as parameter value and I can pass this variable as parameter whenever calling that method or the second way - create an attribute and assign the same wdDoModifyView's view parameter as its value. Whenever I call this method, I can pass this attribute as parameter. What is the difference between these two types of holding the value since I am storing the same value i.e., wdDoModifyView's view parameter. But when I trigger the action from different user sessions, the first type of code (using static variable) prints the same value in both the sessions for view.hashCode() and View.toString(), but the same is printing the different values when I pass the attribute which holds the view parameter.
Clarification on this is highly appreciated
The problem I face is when I use static variable to get the view instance and export the data using the UI element's id, the data belonging to different user sessions is mixed up where as when I use Context Attribute, the same problem doesn't arise. I want to know the reason why it is so. Is there any other place or way where I can get the current view instance of each session instead of wdDoModifyView?

As you have specified the problem that we face when we use static attributes, when end users are using the application .
Static means i have n number of objects but the static variable value will remain same every where.
when it is context attribute for every object i.e nth object you have a nth context attribute i mean nth copy of the context attribute.
so every user has a unique Iview parameter , when context is used and
when static is used , assume you have userA , his iview is set this intially and u have another user B , when he is using , since the variable is static and when you access this variable you will get the value of userA.

NAT issue - (over same link) static-NAT works but PAT (for rest of hosts) does not !

I have a puzzling situation implementing an Internet routing pilot project and I need someone with a fresh look at the matter because I cannot make-out what the problem is…
Scenario description:
2901 router with two (one used) DSL intf’s on board and its two GE ports connected to a switch via Port-Channel sub-int’f (router-on-a-stick is implemented).   The router has two other WAN (Internet) connections via a Satelite link and a MetroEthernet link.   These two are terminated on the switch on intf’s at the appropriate VLAN’s.   At attached topology scheme I depict them all collocated on the router for “simplicity” (logical topology) since the router has intf’s at the corresponding networks.   The aDSL and Metro links have an 8-IP public set, each.
Most servers/hosts utilize VLAN 10 (int port-channel 1.10) but they need to forward their internet traffic to corresponding Internet links so PBR is used.    VLAN/subnet (all /24) pairs are:
VLAN 11 -> 10.0.1.x
VLAN 12 -> 10.0.2.x
VLAN 13 -> 10.0.3.x
VLAN 71 -> 192.168.17.x
VLAN 204 -> 172.16.204.x
and – last but not least ! – VLAN 10 -> 10.0.0.x
All servers use static 1-1 NAT while all other hosts/PC’s use the Metro link (PAT).
Situation: All PBR rules and static NAT’s of VLAN 10 behave as expected.   So does the PAT for hosts of all other VLAN’s (11, 12, 13, …).   The rest of the hosts of VLAN 10, i.e. PC’s with IP’s 10.0.0.x (in red), cannot get to the Internet !
What is puzzling is that traffic is matched (by ACL) and NAT does occur but all I see (via “sh ip nat tra”) are the translations of the DNS requests !   Nothing else !   To top that, tracerouting a public IP does lead to the target but when hitting that same public IP (not by name) on the browser can’t load the page !
Could pls someone spot what I’m missing !!
To help you I also attach the router config and some command outputs…

was not there in the first place - I got it there assuming it would help but it didn't.   Actually - as mentioned - it does not get any hits !

    ip next-hop 212.251.64.153
Policy routing matches: 0 packets, 0 bytes)
