Static crackling noise, Right speaker when audio is being played

I recently purchased this Satellite C50D-A Windows 8 Laptop. I have had it for less than 3 months. Recently the right speaker has started acting up with some sort of high pitched static crackling noise whenever audio is played regardless of it being in a web browser or any other media. Even computer sounds are distorted from this. I typically use this computer for school and play music to study. How the hell can I fix this so I can actually listen to audio without this rather irritating issue?

I tried that and it didnt seem to do much of anything.
I played part of a song on spotify and recorded it to perhaps give you an example of what it sounds like?
I covered the left speaker so most of what you hear is the right speaker alone. The distortion is pretty clear when audio comes out of that speaker.

  • Re: Satellite L500 - Crackling noise when audio is being reproduced

    Hi all,
I bought a L500 a few weeks ago (Windows 7 64bit). Everything goes fine except for the sound. 1h or so after turning on the computer, the speakers start to produce a "crackling", "metallic" noise when audio is being reproduced, irrespective of the source (CDs, system sounds, movies, mp3 files...). It's just like there were hundreds of "micro-interruptions". The same with earphones. This seems also to affect any multimedia files, e.g. videos 10 min length take 12 min or so to play due to these micro-interruptions. The sound goes worse with the time and gets normal once the system is restarted, but some minutes later the noise comes again.
I've all the last Toshiba driver updates, including BIOS, LAN and sound cards, etc.
What can I do? Any clue will be welcome.
    Many thanks in advance.

    hello,
first thing i would try is to replace the driver from toshiba with the Microsoft driver, I personally dont use any of toshiba's drivers due to branding i dislike, however this to one side I run Windows 7 64 Home Prem, the sound cards (typically realtek) all have Microsoft drivers available, they work with no problem for me.
If its deferntly not a driver issue and you have the same problem with headphones as well as the laptops speakers then its a problem with the soundcard itsself.
Is your laptop still under warranty? hopfully if its hardware its still under warranty. Give toshiba a call, they should pick the laptop up and get it repaired for you solong as you did not get it from somwere like P.C World, AOL etc, if you got it from one of them stores then you need phone or take it to the tekguys.
If you need a step-by-step for using microsofts drivers just reply saying so and i;ll sort that for you :)
    cheers
    Phil

  • EXS, Crackle in right speaker..

Getting a crackle in the right speaker when using the vibraphone sample that came with logic 8. It happens when the track is soloed, with all plug ins bypassed. It is not clipping. I've tried upping the buffers, closing and reopening, restarting, creating a new track from scratch... The noise happens when I'm sustaining a chord, and its intermittent... Driving me batty.
Any suggestions on what to do? I think its an exs thing.

Just loaded a new vibe sample using the same exs settings from the vibes that came with logic... Its no longer making the sound, so perhaps my issue is with the actual sample...
I figured that any sample that came with logic would be noise free.. could it have become corrupted somehow??

  • Chromium + pepper flash + pulseaudio = static/crackling noise.

With pulseaudio and chromium+pepper flash from the AUR I get static/crackling noise in the audio. If I disable pulse and just use alsa I don't receive any static/crackling noise... Is there any way to fix it?

Did you already play with the "tched=0 option" and the other pointers mentioned in https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=164959 ?

  • *Important--iPhone4s Static/Crackling Noise

    All,
There seems to be an increasing number of complaints coming in of iPhone 4s static/crackling noise coming from the phone when placing calls.  I personally had the same problem on an iPhone received 10/14.  Replacement devices seem to be having similar problems.  Here are the following symptoms:
-Very intrusive and abnormal crackling/static noise can be heard through the ear piece while on a call. More obvious in a quiet room.
-When call ends, the sound can STILL be heard coming from the back of the phone. Which means the source of the noise may be coming from there?
-Atleast one person noted that the noise can be stopped by shorting out the signal by placing hand over two top antenna bands forcing a "switch".
-Replacement devices are having same symptoms.
Is anyone NOT having the the symptoms described on the new iPhone4S?

Me and my girlfriend both got 4S's at the same time. Hers is on a Canadian carrier called Bell, mine is with Telus. Her phone does not have any of the crackling noise. My phone, whenever I made a call, would create a horrendus crackling through the earpiece before connecting the call. Sometimes, the caller would not be able to hear me. I also experienced the same crackling as everyone during a call, and even had to hang up a few times because it got so bad. I called my provider for an unrelated issue, but was able to demonstrate the issue to the tech. She had never heard of this, but suggested it might be a SIM Card or Hardware issue. I was inclined to agree. So after I got off the phone I proceeded to remove and replace my SIM. At first I turned my phone off, took it out, booted up the phone, and replaced it. The noise was now even louder than before. !@#$! So, I took it out again with the phone on, blew in the SIM slot, and ensured that the SIM stayed completely in the tray when inserting it. Voila, no more static. I suggest everyone give this a try before blowing up Apple. It could be you're SIM's were hastily inserted and causing some kind of short out interference. Hope this helps someone else!
TLDR: Take out your SIM Card with the phone on, blow in the SIM slot, and ensure that the SIM stays completely in place and in the tray when inserting it. • Fixed line static/crackling noise

Hello All Just want to see what ppl's opinions are on where to go from here. I've been a having a problem with static/crackling noise on the fixed line for about 2 months now.  When Tech No. 1 came out, he said he changed something at the pillar, which is located somewhere between my house and the exchange. After he left, I got a text message saying the line test was ok. But it wasn't really ok, but I left it to see if there were any improvements. Fast forward to two months later, I noticed the noise was just as bad. So I reported the fault online and got a call from a lady the next day saying the fault would be investigated and repaired within x number of days. Then on Sunday, Tech No. 2 came out to my house without any notice at all. He too said that he changed some part. The line was actually ok when he called my home number using his mobile. But today, the noise is back. Should I report the fault again and hopefully one day Telstra might actually replace the line? What do ppl here think? Thanks.

If it's within 14 days of the callout by the engineer, you should be able to get an engineer out on the same incident. Definitely call, and have it checked. I asume you have filters, and no doubt they've told you that "if the problem is on your equipment then you pay the cost" etc etc So it's obviously outside your premises, and there may be something seriously going wrong on the lines/exchange if it's simply not lasting.

  • Static/crackling noise in earbuds

I have a strange static/crackling noise in my earbuds (plugged into my iMac) when I have my iPod touch connected to the computer. It stops when I turn off the iPod completely or plug it out (not when I put the iPod touch to sleep). How can I get rid of the noise, it's pretty loud...

u cant get rid of the white noise, its common among all stereo devices, its just amplified on the touch. I say: just live with it.

  • Audio only playing out of Right Speaker when using 30pin-Lightning Adapter?

    Hi There-
I have a Mini Cooper and often use its provided cable (connects via USB and Aux cord into 30pin for older gen iPhones/iPods, etc) to play music. However, with the purchase of my new iPhone 5 I bought the 30pin to Lightning adapter, and when I plug in my phone sound ONLY seems to be coming out of the Right speaker. Take off the adapter to use an older iPhone and both speakers play music. I don't know where the problem lies, I purchased both the phone and the adapter straight from the apple store...
    Thanks for any help!
    L

Since the cable works with your old iPhone, it's in the phone or the adapter.  Take both to the Apple store, I'm sure they have some sort of dock they can plug it into to reproduce the issue - then they can try a different adapter with your phone, and a different phone with your adapter, to see where the problem is.

  • W530 crackling noise (not speaker related)

I got my W530 about a month ago, so this (hopefully) isn't a case of old hardware.
The upper left side of my keyboard has been making loud crackling / popping noises. It started the day after I got the laptop, and has been occurring every day since. It's coming from the area squarely over the fan, but when I took the keyboard off and looked, I didn't see any obstruction or apparent damage to the fan.
I don't think it has anything to do with the speakers- the noise happens regardless of whether I've muted them or not.
    Thanks in advance.

Could that be a “clicking” noise rather than “crackling”? It probably is your HD. I have never restored from Time Machine, but judging from some of the top users in these forums I don’t see it as the preferred method for back-up. Their preferences seem to run toward Carbon Copy Clone or Super Duper, both of which create a fully bootable back-up. I personally use Carbon Copy Cloner because of it’s boot capability which means that all your data & apps will be saved and you can start up from your external drive and continue to work until you replace your internal drive.

  • HT201401 Why is it that all the sound comes out of the right speaker when playing music? The left speaker seems to be blocked or damaged what do i do to be certain that there may be a problem?

I have just noticed whilst playing music on my iphone4 that the sound doesn't  play on the left side, as if it has broken..not sure whats going on. I have tried different songs ..changed EQ but i think think is internal. This has happened recently as i noticed the change in sound straight away.

So why is it that my friend who is directly in front of me with iphone 4 and both speaker holes sound... Yet another friend next to me has same problem as me? We are covering one finger over one side and comparing. Left no sound.

  • DVD Drawer Buzzes Very Loudly When Disk is Being Played...

New T Sat L755-S5170...when a DVD or CD or program disk is inserted into drive drawer, and 'played', the drive drawer buzzes and vibrates very loudly. There is noticeable vibration on drawer edge, when I lightly hold the drawer, which slightly reduces the vibration and noise, but noise & vibration are still present...Not pleased. Any ideas or tips, short of returning this new laptop? Thank you, motordavid

Thanks, but I am quite familiar with how DVD drawers/drives sound, over the past 30 yrs of laptops and desktops... this one was remarkably noisy: almost like any given CD or DVD or program disk was spinning eccentrically. I took it back in to where I had bought it; the 'genius tech guys' at Staples told me it was 'normal', lol! I brought it back home, and took the disk drawer out completely and reinstalled it carefully: no more loud noise, though it still plays disks more nosily than any I have ever had. The replacement option is fine, if one wants to turn in their new/not yet a year old computer, which of course is loaded with one's own personal photos, docs, etc. Not fun, even if fully backed up to a device or, the cloud. They are making these things flimsier and crummier by the day, imo, regardless of brand. GL, mD

  • How to remove static noise and gain from audio.

I have recorded a load of video in an interview style, however there is a lot of static/background noise present in the audio. What is the best way to remove this but keep the vocal sounding normal?
    Thanks

I would send it to Audition and use the noise reduction tools there.
